However, I had such a bad experience yesterday, I had to let everyone know. Last week I dropped off some shirts, slacks and sports coat at Frederick's dry cleaners on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. I have used them for many years even though they sometimes have come up short on execution, in my opinion. I told the person there that one of my shirts need a cuff button replaced and that I needed everything back on (last) Thursday because I was going away Friday morning - I dropped off on Monday to make sure they had time. When I went there late Thursday afternoon, I was told that nothing would be in before Friday afternoon, as that was what was put in their system as the date wanted. Having returned, I went there yesterday to pick everything up. When I got there, they told me that they could not clean one of my shirts as it required dry cleaning. This was a cotton shirt that they have cleaned many times i the past. The person I spoke with yesterday agreed that there was nothing to indicate "dry clean only" and had no explanation as to why it wasn't done. I also saw that the cuff button on the shirt was not replaced even though my receipt showed a charge for a button replacement. I then noticed that my sports coat had a 1-2 inch mark on the sleeve from a marker or a pen. The person there called the store manager to let them know that I was extremely unhappy with the service. She then gave the phone to me so I could speak with the manager, who then told me that she didn't want to hear what I had to say and hung up on me. The person in the store called her back and told me that the manger refused to speak with me. Needless to say, I will NEVER patronize Cleaning By Frederick and recommend that no one else does.

Recently (in the last month or 2), there was a change in management. In that time, the new staff has taken a number of my shirts and switched them from "laundered" to "dry-cleaned" AFTER drop-off, when the instructions (mine and the label) were "wash and dry and press". This turned a $40-50 order into a $70 order. When I questioned them on it, I was told that the fabric (flannel) was too thick for the press. The same fabric that they had been laundering for years. Why would someone pay $8-10 to dry-clean a $30 washable flannel shirt? It seems that the new management (or maybe just this one employee) is attempting to find a way to increase their revenue by sticking it to long time dedicated customers. I was treated like I was crazy for questioning them. Sadly, I 'm changing stores. Time to try On the Spot or Robin Hood.

Showed me where to get a card and put money on it, showed me which machine to use by how much clothes I had. I used the 3 load machine which was 5.25. Detergent is free with your wash (if you happen to not have your own) and so is your drying. The wash takes no more than 25 minutes and the drying is 25 minutes as well. 25 minutes might not feel like enough time to dry clothes but it definitely does, so don't pay for extra dry time unless it's necessary. This is place is bright, clean, and well maintained. I tell everyone that goes to a laundromat to come here. And I will definitely be back for all my laundry needs.
