Over the course of my interactions with Spring Glen Cleaners and Alterations, I've utilized standard dry cleaning services, suit alterations, and most recently extreme stain removal on delicate garments. They have the widest array of dry cleaning services in the area! I came into Spring Glen Cleaners and Alterations about two weeks ago with a pile of dresses, blouses, and skirts that had accidentally gone through the dryer with a lipstick tube in one of the pockets. As you can imagine, at first glance we thought the clothes were completely ruined when we went to empty the dryer. Sue (the owner/manager), was very straightforward when I went in and showed her the stains on the clothes. She said it would be difficult, but they could try three of the garments, and depending on the success of those I could bring back the others. One week later, I was shocked to walk back in and have Sue happily report that the clothes were as good as new again. What a relief! I've had nothing but great interactions at this dry cleaner, and I've never been there when Sue isn't working--she is a very hard working person with a focus on exceptional customer-service.

Every cleaners I've ever went to breaks buttons, so get over it, it's going to happen. What you need to do "guys" us unbutton your cuffs and button down shits and watch how fast the broken buttons stop. The owner is a really nice guy and at least tries to be accommodating. When I come in and there is a line of people I'm always acknowledged and told we'll be right with you. These things mean a lot to me, much more than a broken button. Try them out, and do your part with the button thing.

To my utter surprise, they charged me $3.40 since I only had one shirt!!! Are you kidding a 50% surcharge.. When I asked the owner why it was $3.20 she said..."Only one shirt, that's the price" I said I come here on a regular basis and you are charging me extra since I only had one shirt this time. I asked her if she was willing to lose a regular customer for $1.20???? She ignored the question and charged me the $3.20 price and said "next time bring 2 shirts,,only $2.20 each!!! I took christening gowns that were over 30 years old to be cleaned and pressed for my kids, suits and dresses worn to special events, and they did a beautiful job with them. So they're not all bad, except when it comes to accepting responsibility for mistakes. The owner tried telling me that the white shirt was really blue. I said, "You're mistaken, I brought you a WHITE shirt that you have turned it light blue." He said, "I don't add any blue to it." I took the shirt to another cleaner, and he said that the solution was probably dirty, he could have fixed it, but I tried washing it at home, and that just set the color. I am disappointed. We can always afford anothe shirt, but that may not always be the case. We trust these people with things we have worked for, and they come back to us flawed and with no regard for accountability.

Thanks to my boyfriend's quick thinking as I stood around sobbing because of the mistake, he ran the ruined clothes across the street to Stratford Dry Cleaners (so convenient!) and begged them to see if they could get the lipstick out in only a few short hours, as we had to be on an afternoon ferry. Preparing for the worst, we made a stop at a local clothing store to grab a coup backups, but as we were attending a themes party, the items we originally had were, of course, the best options. Fifteen minutes before the dry cleaner said the items would be ready, my boyfriend went to pick them up, expecting the worst. I literally jumped for joy when he brought in perfectly cleaned clothes looking like nothing had ever happened to them. And it only cost $30 for a rush job! However, I had such a bad experience yesterday, I had to let everyone know. Last week I dropped off some shirts, slacks and sports coat at Frederick's dry cleaners on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. I have used them for many years even though they sometimes have come up short on execution, in my opinion. I told the person there that one of my shirts need a cuff button replaced and that I needed everything back on (last) Thursday because I was going away Friday morning - I dropped off on Monday to make sure they had time. When I went there late Thursday afternoon, I was told that nothing would be in before Friday afternoon, as that was what was put in their system as the date wanted. Having returned, I went there yesterday to pick everything up. When I got there, they told me that they could not clean one of my shirts as it required dry cleaning. This was a cotton shirt that they have cleaned many times i the past. The person I spoke with yesterday agreed that there was nothing to indicate "dry clean only" and had no explanation as to why it wasn't done. I also saw that the cuff button on the shirt was not replaced even though my receipt showed a charge for a button replacement. I then noticed that my sports coat had a 1-2 inch mark on the sleeve from a marker or a pen. The person there called the store manager to let them know that I was extremely unhappy with the service. She then gave the phone to me so I could speak with the manager, who then told me that she didn't want to hear what I had to say and hung up on me. The person in the store called her back and told me that the manger refused to speak with me. Needless to say, I will NEVER patronize Cleaning By Frederick and recommend that no one else does.

Upon returning to pick up my dry cleaning, I was promptly greeted by the same (oddly dressed) woman and she quickly got my order from the back. All of the clothing was very well taken care of and well packaged. The total bill came out to be $26, so I was relatively pleased. I certainly would come back here if in the area again, hopefully they stay in business because the store front looks quite dated and the location is awkwardly placed squeezed into the middle of a strip mall.
