Until she passed away not long ago, I was always taking her clothes to this local competitor. Therefore, I began to use their services for the sake of convenience myself---but they were expensive and rude. Eventually, my dear mom passed away. I used the cleaners at least one more time and began to feel resentful. Earlier this month, however, I bought a new jacket via mail order that was entirely too big. And I realized that I could approach the glass doors of Branford Cleaners again. First I sent an email to the business with a couple of questions. Rich, the owner, answered my query about re-situating the large, wooden buttons on the jacket. The fact that the OWNER answered me was impressive! He did this within 24 hours, too. He told me what to expect in detail and added that he thought it best to visit the cleaners for a full fitting and cost quote. When I opened their doors the following day, an associate greeted me warmly. As I explained what I wanted, their affable tailor called me over to her station where she fit the jacket to our mutual satisfaction. After she gently convinced me that some extra room would be apropos for a winter sweater, she meticulously pinned the areas for button placement. The quote was a "whopping" $10. And could I pick it up on Wednesday before Thanksgiving? Wow! I'd expected a much higher rate as the nearby competitor was exorbitant. Wrong! I also thought I wouldn't see the jacket until after the holiday. Wrong again! Then I called on Tuesday to ask if they'd be open on Friday since I didn't think I'd be able to collect the jacket the next day. Gracious Rich replied that he wanted to check with the tailor. Within five minutes, he called back and said that I could retrieve it later that day as she had just finished it. Now it would be steam pressed at no extra charge as well! Later I picked up my lovely jacket and was immensely pleased with her work. Simplicity means so much to me in a chaotic world. My only gripe? Two or three of the buttons could have been reinforced as I discovered upon getting home. They are definitely loose. I'll need to return soon in order for her to make those adjustments. Nevertheless, I'm happy to be Branford Cleaners' customer again!

I would give 100 stars if I could! If you are looking for a seamstress for ANY alteration, look no…read morefurther! Especially complex wedding gown alterations. I have never experienced such fantastic customer service, and exceptional quality work in my life. Here is a little story that might highlight for you how amazing Michelle is: I went through 3-4 fittings with a seamstress I was friendly with, but she kept insisting I needed to wear a regular bra with straps for my expensive, nude color mesh +lace wedding gown. I picked it up Sunday night (6 days before the wedding), tried it on at home with a full length mirror, and as I moved around I realized the top did not fit at all. It was falling off, the area for the boobs was hanging, things were in strange places. I sent a picture to my sister and friend and they agreed it was not wear-able. When I contacted my seamstress she said she didn't know what she could do, aside from taking the whole thing apart, but there wasn't time for that. I didn't sleep all night and started making phone calls at 7 am to find a new seamstress. Keep in mind the dress is a sheer mesh, crepe fabric, and then covered in very tightly sewed on lace appliques. There is no "easy fix". By 8 am Michelle called me back, had me send her pictures of the issue and although she was swamped with other clients alterations, said she would fit me in at 8:30 for a consultation. I arrived, got into the dress, and she immediately pointed out the areas that required work, pulled out the bra cups the previous seamstress put in the wrong place, threw new ones in there, and pinned it up to fix everything. It was like a whole new dress. I literally almost cried. This is Monday. I came back Wednesday afternoon for a second fitting and it was almost done. She knit-picked and fussed over the tiniest details I would not have even noticed. Made sure it was perfect, and I will have my dress by Friday (tomorrow) at 12 pm. Talk about service. Aside from this, Michelle made sure I calmed down and understood that everything would be okay. She kept in contact via text everyday and I know spent hours on this dress. Needless to say, I finally slept last night and was able to focus on all the other details of the wedding. I know the dress is going to be PERFECT. Oh, to top it off her price was nothing compared to my original failing alterations. I could not believe it. Give Michelle a call and I'm sure she'd be happy to help you with any of your alteration needs. Also turns out she did wedding dresses, prom dresses, and mother of the bride dresses for half the people who work in my office. They even had her business card in their wallet and pulled it out as I was going on and on about this new seamstress named Michelle I had found :) I'll post my dress before and after photos after the wedding this weekend so you can see her amazing work.
