I assumed that they did tailoring. But I was told that they couldn't do the hem. She didn't like the skirt overlay that came with my dress and told me so. I asked about the sleeves and she told me that they don't do that either. ‍ read more

I brought in my Michael Kors bag for a deep cleaning and the results were good. The bag came back looking great. However, the price was way more than I expected for a cleaning service. On top of that, they do not actually clean bags in house. They send it out to a third party company to do the work. That is something they should be upfront about before you hand over your item, especially when the cost is that high. Good outcome but not great value and not fully transparent about the process. read more

We've had such wonderful experiences here. First my wife brought all the suits and gowns for dry cleaning after my eldest daughter's wedding. They did a perfect job- and got out every wine/food stain on them on the first try! Recently my wife went back for alterations for an evening gown for another wedding and they could not have been more friendly, accommodating , quick and resourceful with great ideas and fixes. But most of all- all of the staff could not be friendlier- always welcoming, smiling and genuinely appreciative of their customers. Their prices are reasonable and fair. We will only go to them for all our dry cleaning and alteration needs! read more

This place is a gold mine. I had a Burberry jacket that I was trying to resell on Facebook market. There was a slight tear in the inner pocket. I took do a dry cleaner located in central Islip. They sewed it from the outside in. Which completely ruined the jacket and made it look fake when it's actually real. My mother told me to come to this place, even though it was a difficult job because they have to reweave out the thread this place completely made the jacket look brand new and they were able to fix the tear inside the pocket by again re-weaving the thread so they fixed a major problem for me. This place is an absolute gold Mine very polite customer service very good people! Definitely going there again ! read more

Amazing experience! Super professional and accommodating. Great quality service and workers are so friendly!

Trash experience with the tailoring service here. For $100, I expect a dress to be wearable. Instead the sleeve is weirdly puffed and the chest is still gaping. My mistake was picking up too near the end of the day I suppose, as the tailor was left so they wouldn't let me try it on before paying and leaving. My baby shower was only a few days away, and when I tried it on and realized how awful the tailoring was I called. They could not fix it in time nor would they give even a partial refund. Dress couldn't be returned to the store obviously since it was altered (butchered really) and can't be worn. Will never return. read more

Professional, timely, and affordable! Islip cleaners always gets the job done well. Our latest venture here was to get a suit cleaned for a wedding. Not only were they able to have it done by the next day, but they had it done earlier than promised. The family is truly committed to quality service and we get just that every time. read more

While they were nice, the service was sub par. I requested to have curtains shortened. Quoted 90 dollars which I think is overpriced but since I'm new to the neighborhood I agreed. They said come Saturday after 430. I come to pick up and they're not ready. They offered to fix and deliver which I declined. You had curtains for 5 days and now you want to rush? I waited 2 additional days. They curtains were made shorter than requested and uneven. Needless to say I will shop around for a better place. Note: changed to 3 stars, their customer service is excellent. They did reach out to me so they can fix, however, I declined. read more

Tom, Toni, Danny they are excellent at customer service I have ever seen within the dry cleaner service in the US. Besides, the clothes is ready on time, and clean as expected. I am so happy to get them to know and get quality service. There were three times they helped me getting my clothes express as the ocasión requested with no worries. Very caring staff. The price is affordable. Also, I left a wallet inside the pants pocket and they called me early Sunday to let me know it was there and to come to pick it up. Thank you Islip Cleaners for everything you do!!!!! read more

When you receive great service over so many years, sometimes you take it for granted. I didn't want that to happen here. Toni and the entire staff have provided excellent service for 20+ years to our family. They are community focused and have always come through for us when needed. The tailoring staff is amazing! Shout out to Rosalba and her staff. They always handle our the requests with kindness and help when we create our own 'emergency' :) Thank you all for the wonderful service over these many years! read more

I tried to get three patches sewn onto a backpack, and could not find someone who could offer me a reasonable price in my area (the cobbler that I went to last year was closed for the summer), I didn't have time to wait for him to reopen in September, so I looked all around and stumbled across Islip Cleaners on Yelp with a ton of 5-star reviews. I called to ask them if they could do it, and Tom was very honest with me (he told me that he had to see the patches and the backpack before he could tell me yes or no). When I brought it in Saturday morning, he even offered to get it finished later that evening, but I was going to be in NYC for the rest of the day, so I told him I would come back Monday. I showed up Monday, and all three patches were sewn on, as promised. All for a very reasonable price. Tom was professional and friendly, and from my brief visit to them, I could tell that everyone who worked there truly treated each other like family. Thanks, all! read more

Islip Cleaners - Dress - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Islip, New York

In March 2020 I ordered a dress from Amazon but it was a little too big. The world then shut down, and I completely forgot about returning the dress. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I rediscover the dress in my closet and want to wear it to an event, but I need it taken in. Islip Cleaners quickly responded to my inquiry on Yelp. I walked in, they took measurements, and my dress was ready within a few days. They did an amazing job and my dress fits perfectly! It cost me $30 which I think was a great deal considering I've paid MUCH more for alterations at other places. I will definitely be returning in the future! read more

Dan sucks. Horrible customer service!! Wasted my time and went there to have my daughters dress altered and what a waste of time

They SAVED THE DAY! The dress I was planning to wear for my bridal shower had a zipper that was faulty! I did not realize this until today. I called them and asked if there was anyway they could replace the zipper today and they did!! The seamstress was wonderful and they were all so understanding! I used to go to Islip Cleaners, but this year, they ruined a blouse that it was painted by a designer. It wasn't the first time that I brought my blouse to the cleaners, and when I spoke with Dan the owner, he told me that he thought it was like that after it got ruined. He said he will bring the colors back, and I'm still waiting for a phone call. to say they would pay for it. I found this very unprofessional. They used to be very nice. read more

Tracked this place down to preserve my wedding dress and it was so professional, so worth it. I had a huge grass stain and they took care of it! It also is preserved beautifully in a box and bag. They give you gloves to wear if you ever have to touch it. I preserved my dress and veil and I'm so happy! I also had my husbands suit cleaned as the same time, and it was all ready before the estimated due date! A+ read more

OUTSTANDING!!! I wish I could give Danny and his team at Islip Cleaners more stars, because they did an incredible job cleaning, hemming and tailoring my wedding gown, and tailoring a dress for my rehearsal dinner. I bought a Monique Lhuillier wedding gown used and it arrived with a yellow stain along the right-hand side of the dress plus some other loose applique and spots along the bottom of the dress. I called Danny at Islip Cleaners for a quote and asked if he thought he could get the yellow stain out, and he gave me a VERY reasonable price range for the cleaning and said, "yes, no problem." He suspected the other bride had probably spilled white wine or something that yellowed over time and assured me that he and his team would be able to get the spot out, whereas the 4 other wedding dress cleaners and tailors I called all gave me more expensive estimates, longer timelines and NONE were willing to say they could get it out and one would not even try. Danny said it would take him a few weeks to clean and no problem, which was a HUGE relief, given my wedding is now in just over a month. Once I felt comfortable that Danny would be able to clean the dress, I asked if he might also be able to tailor it too, since I needed the dress shortened and I wanted to adjust the neckline from a deep, low V to a softer and more modest V that would be more proportional to my size. Danny and his seamstress, Rosalba, did a fabulous job hemming the dress (rather than just cutting it, which the other bride had done and was already starting to tear plus looked messy, uneven from the cutting, and unprofessional), and brought up the V but only by a touch so that it is not as severe and looks far more elegant than before. When I tried it on, I was amazed because not only was the dress SPOTLESS, sparkling white, and looking brand new, but the neckline looked so beautiful - one would never know that it was adjusted, and then Rosalba and Danny helped me adjust the cups, which had previously been sewed in unevenly. They even gave me new cups that fit me much better and provide more coverage and lift for an overall more elegant and flattering effect. They made the adjustments right there, and then put my now basically BRAND NEW wedding dress into a new bag. They also steamed out my veil, which was an added bonus that they offered without even charging me extra. After my initial meeting with Danny and Rosalba, I felt confident leaving an Amsale dress strapless dress that needed to be shortened with them for my rehearsal dinner and yet again they did not disappoint. They did a fabulous job hemming the dress but keeping the multi-layered effect, which was not easy to do! Both dresses look beautiful and like they were custom made for me - all thank you to Danny and the talented team at Islip Cleaner's. Throughout the process, Danny was extremely professional, assuring, and accommodating. He did all of this -- cleaning my wedding dress, hemming the entire bottom (the dress has a long train), adjusting the neckline, cleaning and steaming my veil, and hemming my rehearsal dinner dress in less than 3 weeks and exactly on the timeline and budget that was promised/discussed. I cannot speak more highly of Danny and the team and I cannot thank them all enough, as this has been the least stressful vendor to work with through my entire wedding planning process and his team helped lift such a huge weight off my shoulders as I had been really nervous that the stain would not come out - but Danny was right he got it out!, that the hemming might not look good - but it looks fabulous!, or that the adjustment to the neckline would not work - but they did such an elegant job! At every turn, Danny was calming, clear, and straightforward. He also understood that I was trying to keep within a specific budget and he helped me keep to it, and for all that he did, I feel I should have paid him more! Danny and Islip Cleaners are the consummate professionals. I would HIGHLY recommend and would go back to them in a heartbeat because they have my full trust and confidence. Thank you! also, happy to provide photos upon request. I have many of the yellow stain that Danny magically removed. :) read more

I've been away from home (California) while planning my wedding, so I needed my wedding dress altered in Long Island. After a couple of months of looking for someone to alter my wedding dress, I chose Islip Cleaners. I'm very pleased with the alterations and the customer service at Islip Cleaners. I trusted them with my sample sale wedding dress that needed a lot of work done (i.e., hem, bust, shoulders, buttons, fixing holes, adding bustles), and I'm very happy with the final results. They did a great job working with very delicate fabric (lace bodice, illusion neckline, and soft tulle skirt). It fits beautifully and looks brand new. Danny, along with one of his assistants, helped with the alterations. They never rushed me to make decisions and they listened to my feedback and comments about the alterations I wanted done. I also value and trust their professional opinion on what would look best. It was great service at the best value, and the results were beautiful. I would go back to Islip Cleaners for any of my alterations and would recommend it to others. I plan to post pictures after my wedding! read more

I love this business. I drive past 2 dry cleaners to come to Islip Cleaners! I can't say enough about their exceptional service and professionalism. They are always willing to address any concerns and make everything right. They were recommended to me by another dry cleaner that is not affiliated but could not provide me with an "emergency" alteration in the timeframe that I needed and I've never turned back! Contacted Islip Cleaners to help with yogurt stains on our Hunter Douglas Duette blinds. Islip Cleaners came the next day and was able to remove the stain. They were extremely professional, quick and provided exceptional service. They were happy to look at other items we were interested in having cleaned as well and offered on the spot treatment. Their pricing was fair and reasonable, and they saved us from having to replace an entire custom fitted window treatment. read more
