There were delays due to equipment not arriving on time , they didn't bring a ladder even for my 40 ft Sycamore they were to trim, when they started trimming it they had to breathe piled about 9 ft High by 12 ft long which is understandable but I got worried cuz I didn't see a truck to come to take it away I guess the neighbor was concerned because the cops came too questioning the workers what was said I don't know. The actual tree trimming job was fair not excellent clean up was again Fair but what really upset me the next day I found my Adirondack chair the leg was broken right off nobody told me , but the worst thing was the owner during when he quoted me or one of the workers left a balled up piece of paper in my driveway curious as to what it was I unfolded it and I found it was a job order a quote Two Towns away for exactly what I was having done three trees trimmed I looked on Google Earth the trees were about the same size as mine from what I could see we're closer in proximity to branching out and guess what I was charged 1100 and the other person nearby was charged 675 . I question the owner and he seemed annoyed that I dare compare quotes before he realized I checked it out on Google Earth he said well you know the tree size matter not knowing I already checked that out and found they were similar . My broken share he insinuated we did it ourselves he said if his workers break anything they make sure to tell the customer yet the day before when he gave me the quote he was standing right next to my chairs and could see they were all intact . A 40ft branch fell from my tree and into my yard on a Saturday morning. I called Saturday afternoon and had an estimate on Sunday morning where we decided to take the whole tree down. They were able to have the crew come 1pm on Monday afternoon. This is great considering it's summer time and we host people all the time in our yard. The pricing was competitive and the speed and responsiveness was great. It took about 2-3 hours to remove the whole tree, they removed part of the fence to get to it and put it back together after. They also cut down some bamboo that was growing next to the tree as well. After they cleaned up and left, I noticed that there were some large dents from where bigger branches fell in my lawn. There were also a lot of smaller sticks and debris I thought they could have cleaned up. Other than that, the service was great and they were really good. read more

Customer Service does not exist with the lead crew guy of " Branching Out Tree Removal, Dennis. Dennis showed absolutely obnoxious behavior toward me, on the callback - May 4th, at 4:30 PM. Earlier, I asked the appointment setter to have him call to reaffirm Monday, May 6th's job details. I simply began a conversation regarding my thoughts; on the small backyard tree removal & large front tree trim, but right away because he didn't agree with me, instead of discussing options, he immediately told me outright" I can tell you're going to be difficult! You should get someone else!. " He repeated those words over and over, talking loudly, so I couldn't override his insulting view. How rude is that ?! It was absolutely disgusting,behavior. A top of that, he started going on about how he the first guy (with another company, Dank) who gave me a lower estimate , canceled on me. Whaaa?! Dennis was totally off. Number One: He should not have even mentioned that; it was none of his business. He was totally out of line there, one insult after the other. Number two: The appointment with the other company was still set, as I wanted to see what happened with the " Branching Out " company, before canceling, plus the other company offers many more services we could use as all. He continued to whine at me about how it would not be worth the $600 rate he was charging me to take the tree roots out, and even out the soil, along with the tree removal in the backyard, as I was requesting. He kept calling me difficult, but obviously Dennis is someone with serious emotional issues, as a simple discussion turned into an argument, in his thinking. In addition to my situation, the " Branching Out " ad in the Newsday Home Town Penny-saver Ad section, states they will match any written estimate. I brought up that ad, after an initial visit by Dennis, to just take down the backyard tree. He quoted me $500. Dank trees quoted me $350. Dennis said, " That wouldn't be worth my while." Contracted BOTS to trim down two 30+ foot spruces in my back yard. Alex visited in person to inspect the trees and give me a quote, which I thought was fair. Less than one week later, the trees are trimmed, shaped, and I was quite satisfied with the experience all around. One of the trees was just about 10 feet from our "glass room" which has a 25° glass incline roof, so I was incredibly concerned about debris falling on the glass. No problems at all there. I expected it to be at least a half-day affair, but BOTS showed up with about 6 workers, and had everything done in less than two hours. They called me out to take a look before they left, and I had them do some more tiny trims, which they were happy to do. Despite what I read in some of the negative reviews on this page, the crew tidied up, blew out the debris, and left the area in great shape. I went with them due to the cheapest price. I never received a written estimate but later when I said we had agreed on tree elevation I was told it wasn't in the paperwork. I paid extra for stump and mulch removal after tree removal but the worker said they don't do that. Luckily that part was on the bill I was handed after the job was done but the truck with the garbage pails had already left. After calling up, I was told I shouldn't have paid him until after I checked the work, basically saying it was my problem. They then told the worker to remove the mulch and they needed my garbage pails to do so. As far as the tree elevation i was rudely told that they would come back and cut the three branches. We employed Branching Out last August to trim trees and get rid of weeds on a large ivy bank. Dennis did a good sales job , however; the reality is that they trimmed a few trees and left a mess with the weed debris on the bank. They also cut all the ivy at the bottom of the trunk of a large tree instead of cleaning up the weeds as I had requested. ( pictured below) The tree looked strange after that and it continues to look odd. They demanded cash and now I understand why. They had a bad attitude about correcting the terrible job they did at the time. We continued to call with no satisfactory response and have spoken to the owner as recently as yesterday. He refuses to come over to discuss and look at the unsatisfactory job they did. I would strongly not recommend this company. I didn't see any complaints with Nassau Consumer Affairs for this company and was willing to overlook the one complaint on Yelp about raising prices at the last minute. But almost an exact copy of the complaint posted by another Yelper in March 2018, my 91 year old father (and Veteran) got a contract from "Dennis" to remove a tree in his backyard. Anna sent me a copy of the agreement along with their license and insurance so work could begin the next day. But when workers showed up this morning, they tried to gouge him for another 25% more than what Dennis quoted. Thankfully, my father sent them on their way, but how unprofessional and unethical is a company to try and rip off a senior citizen? The tree didn't magically grow 25% in the past few days. Your estimator Dennis has a track record of making "mistakes" that your company doesn't honor. In fact, the new price your workers quoted today was the highest quote we got for the job ($4,000) It truly feels like you were trying to squeeze every penny out of a senior citizen and try to get away with it. Your owner was "too busy" and couldn't call me back this morning to try and resolve. If you make mistakes, honor them! Don't try to pull a fast one on the elderly. Funny the owner stops by later in the morning and says he sees no reason the original quote couldn't be honored. So why are your employees trying to pull such tricks? Funny the owner called to try and back peddle his way with some odd story, but couldn't explain how his workers tried to increase the price to $4,000. He called it a "communication breakdown." I used Branching Out Tree Service in Feb 2021. Competitive pricing, and they appeared to have removed all the stumps as requested. However the largest stump they did not remove and instead covered it with mulch, wood chips, and dirt. I had since discovered this after removing the covering debris. I called Dennis the estimator, who was originally nice on the first estimate. I had requested he come back and look at it and was happy to pay more to have the rest of the stump removed. Dennis was now standoffish and defensive. He seemed to think I was blaming him but I think he just had no interest coming back for a second smaller job. He was also nasty and rude. I informed Dennis I would call the office. Which I did, the operator informed me the owner Michael would call me within 24 hours to help resolve the issue which never happened. I had planned to recommend branching out to family and friends but given the lack of customer service I have decided against providing referrals until further notice. First let me start by saying I rent, but I've been in this house for 25 years, been through about 5 other tree places coming and removing or trimming trees over the years. After Tropical Storm Isaiah, it was obvious it needed to be done again, especially the branches hanging over the roof of the house. Landlord said he was having some stuff done too, and would have them come over to do a quote. The writer came, looked at what I wanted done, and left. He seemed concerned more about not removing trees, which I liked. Landlord said he would come over with the writer again, because he wanted to "make sure what we're paying for is what we're going to get". Turns out, the job he wanted done, they jacked up the price when they actually got there, even with a written quote from the writer and he was charged about 25% more than he was told after requiring them to do the things he was told they were going to do. So we went all over it again. There are about 7 78-foot-tall oak trees in the yard. There was one I was concerned about during the storm that was REALLY moving around a lot, and the writer said they would trim the top to remove inbetween branches to reduce the wind resistance, because he said the tree looked healthy overall. I said that's awesome, and he gave us a pretty cheap price compared to stuff I've had done in the past. 7 tall oak trees, trimming the branches out of the wires on the telephone poles, and over the house, and supposedly that one tree that needed a haircut. Crew shows up, starts working. Talked to one of them, they knew what they were there for (or seemed to) and started work. Foreman shows up, talk to him for a bit. Said he's the "owner's son". Friendly, starts telling me a story about my neighbor who they did some work for, and they took out the cable drop. Yes, he actually told me that they ripped out the cable drop. So the neighbor, obviously never getting reimbursed for the cable repair or inconvenience, tried to at least get them to trim some little tree in the front yard for the cost difference, plus cash. Wouldn't do it. Now, this is the FOREMAN gossiping to me about my neighbor. Odd that he would tell me a story about screwing over my neighbor. It was like he just couldn't help himself feeling superior. A little while later, I hear a loud weird noise, sounded like someone plucking a huge bass guitar string. Look out, and realized they had dropped a huge branch right on top of my power drop. Like really? (Note the cable drop of my neighbor's being torn out of the house). Thankfully, my TWO Verizon FIOS drops (one residential, one business), are right below that power line, it shielded them. As time goes on, I come out of the house later, and that one tree I wanted trimmed up top, they stopped working on after cutting one branch off the side, about halfway down. Talked to the foreman again. Told him that wasn't what the quote said, and explained what the quote writer had written down, AND he showed me the quote at the time with that on it. The foreman starts arguing with me. Literally arguing. Raised voices on both sides, because don't tell me what I'm (even indirectly) paying for is not what I'm getting. He's loud, in my face, with no mask. His workers are staring at him. Said "let's go inside". Nope, can't go inside, because my wife is high-risk. Got even pissier, and just walked away. Real professional. I'm 55, and I have NEVER been treated that way by anyone. Ever. I work in IT, I'm a DIY mechanic, drove a truck in my mid 20's, I seriously never have had an experience like that with someone in a "service industry" who relies on good feedback for their business. He had like 20 guys there, any one of them could have easily gone back up and done the job in about 10 minutes. I have hemmed and hawed about leaving a bad review, but my conscience says I must, even if it means the "son" knows exactly who wrote it. If the owner wants to contact me (not your son) you know where to find me. If anything, the next person who uses them, they'll treat nicer. Maybe they won't meet up with the owner's son. Likewise, the "estimator" made an appointment to perform the estimate quickly and arrived to perform the estimate as discussed. The price quote seemed reasonable and we agreed on the work to be done then and there. After that the service went from promising to thoroughly unprofessional. Despite being told I'd be called the day before the work was to be performed, on the day of the first appointment no call ever came. When I called "Branching Our Tree Service" the morning the work was to be performed I was told they tried to call me but they had the wrong phone number. That's curious seeing they had called me successfully several times before. Regardless, I made another appointment, and again they did not call me the day before so I called them. The time was then changed to 2-4pm, to which the trucks showed up 10 minutes to 4pm, naturally. They were hired by my neighbor to trim trees. my neighbors asked if they could use my driveway for access and I agreed. They pulled a bucket truck into my driveway and broke my driveway, and ran over bags of mulch. They tried to cover the mulch with different bags and dig a hole to cover my driveway with dirt. they left without telling me or my neighbor. My neighbors called me to tell me of the damage when they saw it. I called their office and spoke with Shirley, I told them I would have a written estimate prepared by a licensed mason and they would have to pay me. They said someone would call within 24 hours. No one called. However they did come back to my house while I was not home and without my knowledge or consent tried to patch my year old driveway with a bag of concrete. Hired branching out to remove a huge oak tree in front of my house. Dennis came to give me an estimate. I had been shopping around for 2 weeks and he was my 4th and final estimate. He beat the lowest estimate I had and he agreed on my "magic" number I wanted to spend. They were very professional. They came with 7 guys and 3 trucks. Removed a 70...80 foot oak tree and grinded the stump all the way down in about 3....3.5 hrs!! So far so good. I'm going to watch this tremendous hole with a pile of dirt settle lol... After hearing their truck idling in the middle of my dead end street for close to an hour (literally parked in the middle of the street with nobody inside), I called the company and asked that the truck be moved as it was blocking access to my driveway and I needed to leave. I was told that they were doing work on another block (other side of dead end) but would be moved. After no movement in a reasonable amount of time, I called back and demanded that the truck be moved so that I could leave. At that point, I was hung up on. They then refused to take my calls - the only way they answered afterwards is when I called from a different number. These guys are the absolute worst. They were hired by our local town to cut down a tree. My car was parked in front of the tree, and they decided to cut down the tree over my car.
