DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - SCAM ALERT I hired this company back in May 2025 to remove a large tree from my backyard. We paid them $7,000 -- a wildly overpriced amount -- but because they did a good job for us in 2022, we trusted them again. That trust was a huge mistake. It is now three months later and my yard is still in complete despair. The owner, Joe, specifically agreed to also remove the stump, and yet it still sits rotting in my backyard. Because of this, weeds have overtaken the space and my family hasn't been able to enjoy our backyard the entire summer. I have called, texted, and left voicemails multiple times. Joe occasionally responds just enough to string me along, then disappears to chase new projects and new customers' money, while completely ignoring the work I already paid him for. I had Tarzan Tree removal take down a 30 ft tree with a 40 inch circumference that had grown unmanageable in my back yard in Brooklyn. Within two days from my phone call, the tree was removed. The crew was on time, professional, and did an outstanding job. The clean up was perfect. They were able to grind the stump and exposed roots, hauled off all the branches and twigs, put the large pieces in a chipper, and left after sweeping the street for any twigs. These guys did a great job taking down a massive tree in the front of my house. A crew of about four or five scaled the tree, took safety precautions, and brought the whole thing down. But I'm giving them three stars because they were supposed to remove the stump and didn't. We didn't discover that the stump was still there until we started digging to replace the tree and hit wood. When we called Tarzan to get them to come and remove the rest of the stump, as we had paid them to do, Tarzan said the machine was broken. UNPROFESSIONAL, DISHONEST BUSINESS. We hired Tarzan Tree Removal to cut a few trees in our property. One of the tree was quite tall and there were a lot of cables running through the branches. The team was not professional when cutting the branches that tangled with cables, and guess what happened-- as they threw the cut branches down to the floor, the heavy branches pulled the cables that were fixed onto the siding, and yanked a section of our siding off (you can see attached photos for the damage). Our neighbor's cables were also messed up and caused big inconvenience to them. When we pointed out the damages to Joe, he said he did not have a long ladder with him that day (came unprepared for the job), and promised that he will come back to fix both the cables and the damaged siding for us. Naive of us to trust his words and paid him in full. Of course, Joe made multiple empty promises and finally did not reply messages or answer phone calls, and NEVER CAME BACK to fix the damages that they created. We now have to pay out of our pocket to hire someone to fix the siding, and also have to go through the hassles to help our neighbor get their cables back to service. It is such a disgrace that people chose to run business in such a dishonest and unethical way. Piece of advice to you Joe-- Companies that do not stand behind their service will not go far. They did a great job--had to remove a lot of branches from a huge tree that was shading our solar panels. It was amazing to watch the main guy (I forgot his name) pulley himself up to the height of a 3 story building and then carefully remove each branch. The rest of the team were very good about dealing with the mess, they totally swept our yard and basement hall after taking all the debris out and chipping it--and we even got a few bags of mulch from our trees to use in our garden. read more

I'm so disappointed - I've literally been trying for months to finally get work scheduled (after I was able to get him to show up to give an estimate), and after time and again of promises about calling me "as soon as I'm back in the office" to schedule I'm finally going to take my business elsewhere. I understand you're busy - but if you can't take my work just tell me, don't string me along for months. Plenty of them either took long to respond or came back with high estimates. Some companies didn't even respond at all. Joe and his team responded quickly and gave a really reasonable price. In addition to that, they were able to schedule the job the same day because they were in the area and got there within 2 hours. The crew of about 6 men chopped and removed the tree within 1.5 hours and cleaned up the area. By noon, everything was already done and gone. The stump remained but was treated for easy future removal. I was super impressed because I considered it a really big tree for Brooklyn standards, but they made it look so easy. Phenomenal job! I thought really long and hard for this review. I would definitely recommend Tarzan to anyone with tree removal needs! Joe was really quick to respond whenever I called which is definitely a huge plus! The crew were all very nice and they all knew what they were doing! It was absolutely amazing watching them climb and carefully remove the branches. They were also super nice to my neighbors which came over to grab a piece of log and they even helped him bring it back to their house. So why only 3.9 stars? They advertised that they would give 15% off on their website. The price was lowered but it did not honor the 15% off. So why even put it on the website? The price was reasonable though. I didn't like how one of the guy kept asked if "there were good news". I'm pretty sure he meant tips which I didn't since I bought close to 100 dollars worth of cold drinks. They also took my garbage bin(not sure if they mistaken it for theirs), left a mess on the street and were pretty rough on my walls when bringing the trees out. Tarzan was tasked to prune a large beech tree at my house. They gave me an estimate that was pretty competitive. We agreed on a price of $3,000. They came that week and started work on June 5. While their guys were still up in the tree, the foreman, a guy named Joe who wears his hair long like Tarzan, tells me I'm gonna have to pay in cash, or "caysh" as they say in Brooklyn, and that he wants the cash now, before they leave. I point out to him several dead limbs that need pruning, he says "donworrbout it, I gotchu." So I run off to the bank to get 3K in caysh. I get home and the crew is gone, but Joe's guys are in his truck down the street, waitng for the money. I hustle over there and give them the cash. I get home and lo and behold, most of the dead limbs I showed Joe Tarzan are still there. I send Joe a bunch of photos of the dead limbs. He hims and haws a little bit about having the wrong truck, needing a cherry picker, about how you shouldn't have given us the cash if you weren't satisfied, but any way he agreed he'd come back next week to finish the job. That was in June. All thorough July and August I texted Joe, some he ignored, some he responded to with stories about rain and holidays and trucks and machines, anyway he continued to promise "i'll take care of it, no problem". So now we're end of September and Joe Tarzan has gone radio silent. I guess its annoying when customers want you to actually do what you said you'd do, so here's my review. read more

I'm a very satisfied customer. Met with Joe the owner (handsome alert!) after receiving a quote from another company. He quoted me less than the other guy. The crew was phenomenal!!! They came in by 8 am and was done by 3 pm taking down my mulberry tree. While I was at work, my kids kept me up to date periodically with pics. They were so amazed and impressed with the guys working they ran out and got them beers for doing such a great job. Love having adult children at home. . Called Joe on a Friday about trimming a tree (long overdue) in my backyard. He calls me back 5 minutes later. I told him that I'm free on Monday morning around 8:00am. He says I'll stop by on Monday morning and we'll see what's going on back there. He comes by around 8:45 on Monday morning and says that I will have my guys here in 5-10 minutes to take care of it. Really? Am I on candid camera? Sure as shit, his guys were there and up in the tree chain sawing away. They are very good at what they do to say the least. I guess they have so much business they can afford to blow off a $2000 job Unprofessional, disgraceful is all I can say. If they got backed up, it o my takes a minute to call or send a text. I hope anyone looking to hire them will consider what happened to me. It's a pet peeve of mine if I hire someone and they agree to show up on a certain day, I'm not going to hunt them down when they don't show up. About a month ago I called this company to set up an estimate. The owner contacted me and we set up an appointment. He came by to give me a quote. WE AGREED on a price and he left stating that he would get back to me with a date to complete the job, but completely failed to do so. He never called back to set up a date. If you did not want to do the job FOR ANY REASON BE HONEST. This shows lack of professionalism. I would have been fine if he had called back and expressed why he couldn't or wouldn't do the job. Instead, he either A) lied about it, B) forgot about it C) Didnt give a shit to be decent enough to confirm or cancel our agreement. Either way, it's not a good look. I had to write a review for these guys because of the excellent job they did for me! I had 2 big trees from the neighbors that have grown huge and extended over my backyard. One of the big tree had 3 trunks of which one grew from my property corner and lurked dangerously close to my house. These guys came on time (early actually) and were nothing short of amazing, professional and courteous- everything you hope for but usually don't get. The crew had such a nice and easy rapport with each other, a well coordinated team. Steve (aka Geroge of the Jungle) scaled the tree like it was nothing! It's really something to see, a very dangerous art form and skill for sure. I have a lot of respect. They came with a huge truck that grinds up the tree branches so as soon as Steve cuts them down which is very fast the crew carried the debris through my basement to the tree grinder truck. They finished the job quickly and cleaned up my entire back and front yard for which I'm so appreciative. My backyard looks so much brighter too! Highly recommend these guys.
