I requested quotes from five other tree services for tree work. Each came out and I reviewed the scope of work with them; removal of one tree and trimming of a second. Branching Out was the last to look at the job. Dennis the estimator came and I reviewed the work with him and asked him if he could beat the lowest estimate that I had received. He said that he could, so I was put on the schedule. The work day was rescheduled twice due to bad weather. When they finally arrived this morning to start the work and the workers tell me they cannot work because the job will cost more than what was listed on the estimate. I spoke with Dennis on the phone and he said he could not stand behind the estimate, that he had "made a mistake". What kind of business would do this!?! Underbid or not, he should have stood behind his word and performed the work. It's not like any of the conditions changed, and it was out of his hands, this was his error. This is not professional and this shows a lack of business integrity and ethics. Therefore I cannot recommend this company to anyone. read more

I wish I had read some of these reviews prior to scheduling the job with them because this is clearly something they are known for. This company sent someone out to give an estimate. He quoted one price and wrote up a contract. I asked about some additional work, the guy came back and walked the entire job with me and marked the trees that were to be removed. He gave me a copy of the estimate and he quoted an additional price for two additional trees. Once we confirmed via phone that we wanted to add one of the trees he tried to change the price. After finalizing a price and sending me a revised detailed contract noting the removal of 3 trees with their stumps as well as an additional root removal we set a schedule for Friday morning. He also told us would NEED to be home on the day. My husband took off from work and as requested moved the cars before 8am. The crews arrived and suddenly they felt this job was too big for the price quoted, they said someone will call you to reschedule. AND THEN THEY JUST LEFT !?! What business walks a formal estimate twice even goes so far as to mark your trees with spray paint and writes it up in detail only to pull out of the whole job after arriving !!!???? Called the office and the representative who came out and no one but the receptionist will answer. She will just politely tell you she understands your frustration but there is nothing she can do. She stated the owner has been notified of the situation. This was a complete waste of my our time. Why write an estimate if you aren't going to actually stick to the price quoted. What owner stays in business with such lack of respect for your clients time. Update... she called me back to ask what my name was. Like others have said, Dennis comes off like a good guy when doing the estimate but he's a straight up liar. I wanted everything in my yard cut bak to my fence line because I'm putting in a pool. I mentioned that my neighbor had gotten estimates to take out a large tree, part of which was hanging over my yard, and told him the cheapest price. He said since his men and equipment would be here already to do my yard, he would combine the the two jobs and beat their price. Again, like others have said, as soon as they got here my neighbor wanted to make sure they were going to grind the stump like I was told, and the foreman (I guess Hermie) said no, they were just supposed to take out her tree and cut back the two trees behind my garage. The price we were paying was not enough. She told him if your not going to, the deal is off. After ten minutes on the phone with Dennis, he came back and said OK. A couple of hours later, the tree is mostly gone and Hermie tells my neighbor that he can't fit the stump grinder through the gate. He might damage it. She tells him knock it down, I'm getting a new fence next week. Well, would you believe that it fit right through that gate with no problem. While they finished grinding the stump, they collected our money. Then they left, leaving the two trees behind my garage untouched. I called Dennis and he told me those trees were never discussed, but if I offered his guys some money, they would take care of it. So don't tell me that I'm confused Dennis. I'm the one that called you to clear the trees in my yard for a pool. Not to pay you to have my neighbor's tree cut down, and then hire someone else to cut back my trees. read more

After having used Branching Out Tree Service previously and having been satisfied with their work it only seemed logical to contract them again. The job entailed the removal of several hedges as we planned to install a fence. We called and Dennis showed up and gave us an estimate and a date for the work. A full crew of workers showed up and informed us that the equipment they were going to use was too large to get into yard. They called the office and were told to cut the hedges down with a hand held power saw and that the stumps would be removed at a later date. Hedges were cut down,carted away and they were paid in full.However the crew could have easily removed the stumps with hand tools. Needless to say after repeated phone calls, stumps were not removed. If you want a tree removed or trimmed without regard or consideration for near-by shrubbery or permanent structures on your property, this is the company for you. If you don't mind the cut, drop and drag mentality no matter what attitude, this is the company you should hire. The only English speaking overseer of the project looked at his cell phone more than watching his workers doing the damage. If they had taken a few additional moments to cut the removed limbs into more manageable sized pieces, the damage(s) to the surrounding area would have been minimal, but little regard was taken by the crew or the "supervisor". They did remove the tree at a comparable price to other tree services, and less than other quotes received. Days later I'm repairing and cleaning up my property; pruning broken, damaged limbs of shrubbery, picking up twigs and branches, filling gullies made from the grinding machine with top soil to avoid falling, and repairing/replacing a broken permanent structure. read more

STAY FAR AWAY! Dennis came recommended as a "tree surgeon" and while their estimate was fair, he never showed up for the job and DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT PERMITS AND LAWS regarding trees. They left a mess in our yard and when I asked him to correct it, he was never around. Only when we threatened legal action did he respond and that with one of his workers! Never spoke to him again. I called for an estimate and Dennis came out the same day. His estimate was very reasonable compared to others I received. We set a date for the work to be done in three weeks. A few days before the scheduled work he called to ask if he could come another day. I had made it clear that the fence people were coming the day after him. He came as scheduled. They did not remove slit of the debris and did not get deep enough to remove the roots and they gauged the sidewalk. Called Dennis about the sidewalk and he assured me it would be taken care of. It's been 6 months, he no longer returns my calls. I would never recommend him. read more

I solicited five different companies for quotes and Branching Out came in the lowest. The salesman was very friendly, but truthfully, it wouldn't have mattered if he was jerk, I was all about price. I had three large trees removed and their stumps ground. The salesman threw in a fourth stump that was left in my yard for free. Branching Out called me the day before and gave me an ETA for their team. They were a few hours early the next day. They did the entire job in about an hour. They were so fast I barely made it back from the bank in time with the money to pay them. Overall I was impressed with the price and quality of the job. I can tell you that only one guy on the job spoke English and that none of the other employees had green cards but I think that is the status quo today. I almost didn't use Branching Out because I read the other review here but I gave it a shot and it worked out just fine. It seems im not the only one who had this poor experience.The gentleman who gave me the estimate was very nice, but when the team of workers showed up at my house they immediately started complaining about how much work it was and how the estimate given to me was way too low and the guy who gave it doesnt know what hes doing. STAY FAR AWAY from Branching Out Tree Service, they are awful. After getting 3 estimates, Branching Out Tree Service came in the lowest. The co-owner Dennis seemed nice to deal with on the estimate, but he never showed up the day of the job. His partner Hermie came in with the crew to do the work and started complaining immediately - this is too much work for the price quoted. That is a discussion he should have with Dennis, not the customer. I should have known better at that point. I had a lot of trees with vines and branches that were behind my pool. They cut them down, but then left all the vines and branches on the ground. When I stopped back midday I spoke to Hermie about this and told him this stuff had to go, he nodded. When I came back at the end of the day all the debris was still there. My wife hadn't seen it and paid them. I have been fighting for them to come back and clean it up, and after waiting several weeks Dennis finally told me today they are not coming back unless I give them more money. You have to be kidding right? Who cuts down trees, branches and vines to leave them in their yard. Stay far away from this company, they are unethical and will not perform the work they are contracted for. read more
