I came into this place on a Saturday afternoon... I had never been here before. They got me in right away diagnosed the problem with my car and replaced my battery within 20 minutes of the time I pulled up... Needless to say I was very satisfied with the service. The management was professional and very courteous... The place was clean, and I could tell that these people are good at what they do and very honest. I made an online appointment. I described services requested as "brake fluid flush (I will supply fluid) and front brake pads replaced (I will supply pads)." The only drop down menu option regarding brakes is "brake system check." No price quote is provided, which is already suspect. The parts I'm providing are OEM sealed in box. I made the appointment for 09:00 and showed up with the car at 08:15. The employee stated they will not work on customer supplied brake parts. No message on the web site states this. No message popped up when making the appointment. No phone call was made to me before arrival. Their sign says "we do it all," I guess not. I had a terrible experience--twice! I shouldn't have given them a second chance. **9/3/24**: I went in to get my oil changed, and it took over four hours when I was initially quoted a maximum of one. I paid for them to replace my back windshield wiper, but they installed a blade that was too long and didn't work. I also specifically requested not to have my cabin air filter changed, yet they removed it anyway. Additionally, they pulled on my hood release latch so hard that it broke. When I returned to my car and pointed out the wire sticking out, they looked me in the eye and lied, saying, "It came to us like that." **1/3/25**: This time around, I made it clear that they needed to fix the windshield wiper they had previously installed incorrectly. They tried to charge me again, and I told them I didn't want to pay twice for their mistake. They finally caved and covered it after some back and forth. However, two hours later, I had to call them only to find out they hadn't even fixed it yet. They wanted to discuss my cabin air filter being bent and incorrectly working. They were the only ones who had handled it, so it's pretty clear how it got damaged. When I arrived, they informed me that they STILL didn't have the parts for my windshield wiper and would call me back to make it right. Tomorrow makes a week since my appointment, and there's been no effort on their part to reach out/honor their offer. I never write bad reviews for anyone, but I have been incredibly dissatisfied with the service. If they can't handle a windshield wiper, I wouldn't suggest letting them handle your whole car. read more

I had brakes plus change the oil in my car. I didn't have time to do it myself. The price was higher than what i usually pay. Thehad an opening that worked at the time. I had planned on changing my own oil this time. I discovered they used an impact wrench to put on my oil drain plug. They over torqued it. I'm not happy. I will need to use an impact wrench to remove the oil plug. It's hard to screw up an oil change. I will not be back. I cannot recommend them read more

Not sure what has happened to this business. I have taken cars there for 6 or 7 years and had pretty good service for a reasonable price. I made an appointment there for 8:00 (when they open), I dropped the car off after they said it would probably take 2 hours. I thought it odd since I was there a little before 8:00 and what I thought was their 1st appointment for the day. I called 2.5 hours later, was put on hold for 20 minutes before I hung up. Went to get the car and it was sitting right where I left it, hadn't been touched for 2.5 hours. Also, $121 for a alignment seems like quite the overcharge. If when I got there, they had told me listen, we are backed up (why when they just opened I don't understand) I would have probable been ok with it and left with the car. I will never go back to this place, if you want to pay $121 for an alignment and be treated like crap, then you may like this place. read more

I had a minor brake issue when at low speeds when pulling out of a parking spot my brakes would skip a little, the only time. The Car was fine at normal and high speeds with no issue and no sound. I drove from Sioux City IA to Omaha NE and had the free estimate in Omaha to check for the minor issue. After the estimate my car then had a major issue with a grinding sound and major brake skipping. I could not drive it off the lot. The manager said all they did was take the tires off and put them back on and said he's technician can take a look at it tomorrow B/c he was the only one that could diagnose it. I complained that in their care my car got a major issue that it did not have before. The next day I went to pick up my car after the other technician looked at it and my car was back to its original self.... I am a young female that they were trying to exploit. I should not have to worry about taking my car to get looked at for preventive care. DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

I had purchased tires at Discount Tires the Saturday before my Monday 11:00 appointment at Brakes Plus. Discount Tires had provided a $10 coupon as they don't align the wheels after installing tires. After sitting in their waiting room just over two hours, the appointment taker comes to tell me that they are just getting the car up on the rack. He must of seen my disappointment on my face and then I told him that I had a 1:15 appointment and he said they could hurry now. I said I did not want a hurry job as I am getting ready for a cross country drive and don't want a 'rush job'. I don't know if they need a better scheduler, or maybe there is a staff issue, but nobody wants to hear about a rush job when I've already waited over two hours. read more

The crew was great. The oil filter cap had to be broken off in order to change the oil filter. Apparently the oil change previously, not at brakes plus, over tightened it or put a sealant on it. James (General Manager) was awesome. They ordered a new oil filter cap immediately. I only had to wait 1 hour total for the oil change, oil cap replacement and engine filter replacement. Interesting how my review just happened to disappear... Took car in Thursday, was told they needed to replace the transmission (still haven't been able to to find out why they thought it was the transmission.) Monday they said it was good to go. Car didn't get .3 of a mile before dieing. Took it back in. Got it back today late Tuesday night, the bumper is only attached at two points out of four (person I talked too claimed they didn't do it.) And now there's a new strange clicking sound... Update: to work and it died in the the parking lot. also received a very annoyed phone call from the manager asking to me to take this down. Update 2:Talked to the supposed district manager and was told there was nothing he would do to fix this. And that I should just trust them to do it right the 4th time And that he can prove my bumper was attached when when the car left the store but he won't prove it to me... read more

Shawn was helpful and kept me abreast of ongoing work, parts needed, delays, etc. He took me to the work area and showed me what they found on the initial inspection. Hell, I dont know what worn rotors look like, but he did explain excessive heat, etc. Even tho I was there 3 hours (right to closing time), they did their work expediently. It always seems like every visit to this type of shop for brake work will likely cost $800-900... so be prepared. HOWEVER, for the safety and peace of mind, its a good investment. The technician drove it and gave me the ok. This is our second visit for brake replacement (2 separate vehicles). They are pleasant and friendly on the fone (and in person), despite the mad rushes, walk-ins, trying to accomodate everyone, screaming kids/families waiting. Two technicians rechecked wheel lugnuts separately and methodically. Good job. read more

I stopped in for what should have been a quick and easy fix. I even already had the engine codes. They charged me a $100 diagnostic fee and told me it would be almost $900 for repairs. Mind you, I didn't ask to have anything that might needed to be fixed replaced. I explained that things are tight and I just needed to get the one problem fixed. I went to another shop, told the guy the codes, he agreed, and he was only under the hood for about 5 minutes and I paid less than $80 total. Just like I thought, it was a simple throttle body sensor issue. He also noticed that my spark plugs were loose, which I'm seriously wondering if this was caused by Brakes Plus doing whatever "diagnostics" they do. It's pretty clear that this place is the kind of place that may do quality work, but will also screw people hard when they can. The kind of place that gives all mechanics a bad name. There is simply NO way to justify $900 vs $80. I can handle that cars need repairs, and I can handle poor customer service, but what really pisses me off is when a business actively tries to screw customers out of money. I made a 1 PM oil change appointment at 168th and Maple, dropped off my car while we had business in Omaha as we live north of Bennington. I came back to Brakes Plus at about 2 PM, thinking the oil was completed. My oil change had not even been started, advisor said that it might take another hour to complete. I had to leave without getting the service that was expected. Advisor did not offer any apology so I am through with Brakes Plus, though had been using Brakes Plus for several years but will have to go elsewhere. Ted read more

I would give this location zero stars if it were possible. I brought my car to this location because I was tired of the mistakes happening at the North 90th St. location. Unfortunately, it's no better here. I took my car in for a noise. I was very descriptive in the way I described the noise, where it was coming from, when it was happening, and I even listed several streets in town that were notorious for causing it to happen. They test drove the car, assured me they heard the same noise, and told me my CV Axles needed to be replaced...both of the them. I paid $817.00 for this repair and they told me the noise was gone. I picked up my car and before I made it home (10 min drive), I heard the same noise again. I called them back to advise of this and they asked me to bring my car back in. Now I'm without my car once again! In my experience, this is typical for Brakes Plus. Their motto should be, "Fix it right the second time." Rob, the general manager, calls me to tell me the noise is coming from my right ball joint. This repair has a cost of $146.00. I then tell Rob that the repair they did for $817.00 needs to be refunded, and then charge me for the repair for $146.00 since they fixed something the first time that I didn't want fixed and the ball joint was the problem all along. Rob refused. He said my CV axles were bad and needed to be replaced. He also claimed that they were the cause of the noise as well and said that the noise coming from the ball joint is a "new noise" even though my car only had one noise to begin with. Let's think logically for just one moment here, shall we? I bring the car in for a noise, they perform a repair, the noise is still there. I bring it in a second time for the exact SAME noise, they perform a second repair, noise is gone. Clearly, the first repair of CV Axles weren't causing the noise when the second repair of the ball joint fixes the noise. Therefore, the first repair should not have been done and should be refunded. Rob disagrees... He states the CV axles were bad and needed to be replaced. I don't believe this, but let's assume for a second they were bad. They weren't causing the noise and the noise is what I wanted fixed. I didn't say "fix my CV Axles" when I took the car in. I said "fix the noise" and they didn't. As a result of this entire mess, I paid $817.00 for a $146.00 repair. Rob was ever so kind to perform the second repair for free so that he was only stealing $671.00 from me rather than the entire $817.00. Maybe that will help him sleep at night... Now, Brakes Plus would have you believe that they want to resolve this situation based upon their response to this post. Do not be fooled! Prior to making this post, I had the long conversation with Rob, detailed above, where he refused to refund the charges for the first repair, not to mention, he found it necessary to "remind me" that I'm not a mechanic so I wouldn't know if the CV axles were bad or not. When I told him I didn't think there was anything wrong with the CV axles, his exact response was (very sarcastically), "And what is it that you do for a living again?" Additionally, I also reached out on the Brakes Plus website to the corporate offices. I received a call back from the district manager and explained the entire situation. He said he would research it and get back to me. Four days later, I have yet to hear from him. It's easy for a company to respond to a post letting everyone believe that they really want to help and resolve the situation. Unfortunately, when it comes time to actually step up and resolve it, they appear to be too busy for customers like me...you know, the kind of customer that has spent THOUSANDS of dollars between two of their locations. I will be happy to upgrade this post once my money is returned...but not a second sooner. read more

Boy, they take customer care seriously! I needed some big deal brake work done on my car and needed to pay a stupid tax for not taking care of this sooner. New rotors, new pads and shoes, all the stuff. Not one person in that shop (and I interacted with at least 4 different staff members in my 5 hours in the shop) made me feel bad for not getting in there sooner. When it came to putting my hood back down, I had a... creative way... to close my hood involving a complicated system of carabiner and a wish from a genie I found in a lamp in an Arkansas antique mall. They let me come in and close it myself and let me feel like I knew my car best. It is rare for a mechanic of any type to treat owners like they are competent people. I will be back for literally anything they can do that I can't. Rarely do I get the feeling anymore that I am doing business with real people and not corporations and beaurocracies. I'll start off by saying that the staff here is great. I brought my car in for some work on my brakes & although it cost me an arm and a leg to get all the repairs done that I needed, I never felt as if I was being scammed (as I inevitably always do when I go to new automotive repair shops). Everyone I spoke to was polite, respectful, & completely professional while maintaining an appreciated level of friendliness in conversation. Everything was explained to me in layman's terms so I felt that I actually understood what was wrong with my car & could make an educated decision for myself as to what I did & did not want done. I was very clear that I needed the lowest price possible for all services and parts & they were great about hooking me up with coupons & generic brands. They walked me through my itemized bill before and after work was done to my car and gave me some great advice as to how I should care for my car in the future to avoid more problems (without being condescending). The actual location is easy to access right off of the Dodge Expressway and the building is clean & well maintained. The waiting area is divided so you can spread out a little bit from the other customers who are waiting around & one partitioned side has a TV. They have coffee & water available as well as two restrooms & a small sitting area out in front of the building. Also, I didn't utilize this service, but I did see that they have a shuttle that runs to and from the store for people who can't wait for their car but need to get back to work or something. Getting work done on your car is never fun, but all in all I was pretty impressed with the service I received here. read more

I waited for over an hour after my appointment was scheduled before they even got my car in for an alignment. The guy ahead of me waited for three hours after his appointment began for them to tell him they couldn't even do his alignment. I sat here and listed to them hustling every person ahead of me for bogus added charges. It was ridiculous and sickening. I came for an alignment and they told me they won't adjust the camber with the cost of the alignment, and that would cost me an additional $110. Absolute sheisters through and through. I walked in and gave the keys to the nice older man at the front asked what the problem was and he immediately gave my keys to someone to pull it into the shop and the guy with the beard who's shorter got into my car and launched it and did a small burn out in the parking lot as I was watching him, a costumer outside even came in and asked if that was my car to tell me that he also saw him launch the car in the parking lot, will never ever take my car back there again, they over filled my coolent by half a bottle also 2 weeks ago but was an easy fix with a turkey baster, and have gone there twice for a aliment both times still being slightly off, but when you ask them to come look they say it's normal. read more

After my "ace" Mercedes technician rebuilt the front end of my car...it has never steered properly. I went to Brakes Plus at 120th and Dodge and opted for the $59.00 Alignment Special. In addition to correcting the poor job done by my (former) mechanic, Brakes Plus fixed the car perfectly. In addition to the alignment, they found the antifreeze leak...and a compressor leak. I took my daughters car in for an oil change and alignment and long story short they found some major issues that needed repairs. The cost to repair it was over $1,200. They helped me so much with giving me discounts on what they could but most of all they were so kind about helping me in a difficult situation. Took truck in to get air fix, they charge me to test it to see what was the problem, the they charge for 3lbs of freon. When i left there he say the freon was staying in. He said if the freon don't stay then he would only charge me to test it and would take freon out. instead i got charged for it sll. I drove the car for 1 day , it was parked 1 day the next day no freon. I tooked it back in then he says the compresses not working. Why would they charge me 163 dollars if the test showed the compresser going bad. Such a rip off , People be Careful who You Trust.. read more

So I brought my 2010 Suburban here for alignment work because Discount Tire gave me a coupon. They inspected my vehicle then told me I needed new tie rods, lower ball joints, and control arms, to the tune of $1,600. I have a mechanic shop I use and said I'd take it there to have them look at it. They didn't replace anything, tightened the mounting bolt to the control arm that had come loose, rotated the tires, did front end alignment, and had me back on the road for $110. They said the ball joints had a little vertical movement, which is common, and it was also within specs for acceptable movement. Bottom line: Brakes Plus tried to scam me into spending $1,600 on repairs I didn't even need. DO NOT GO TO THESE GUYS. They're the epitome of the mechanic stereotype. I'm sure they have to meet numbers and quotas for each shop, and I cringe at the thought of how many hapless customers are paying for repairs that aren't even needed. read more

I went to Brakes Plus originally because their pricing was better than another place I was looking to have my brakes done at. But I'll go back for the straight forward service and pricing and good customer service. They even discovered some damage to my lug nut/bolt that had been done by the other shop and offered to fix it for me for free if the other shop wouldn't fix their mistake. Took my car in last week for an oil change and noticed a couple of days later that there was oil leaking onto my garage floor. So I looked under the hood to see that the oil filler cap was off, causing oil to go everywhere on my engine. I bought a new cap but when trying to shut the hood I found that the cap was underneath the latch for the hood, just proving how bad/rush of a job they did. I put the cap on where it was needed and the next day still notice that there was oil leaking. So I propped my car up on jacks to look under it. To my surprise they didn't tighten the oil drain so there was oil coming out of it. How hard can an oil change be? Would not suggest breaks plus because all they will do is rush through your car so they can get more cars done. read more

Took my wifes car here last year after I had 4 new tires put on at the Discount Tire right next door. They performed an alignment on 2 wheels only as that's all she needed. This would have been fine and a 4 star experience if it ended there. The problem is, they went for the classic shady upsell by making up issues that needed to be fixed. This time they claimed they had to jump the car to get it started after the alignment, but no fear, they conveniently have batteries available for $150! I told them no thanks, just leave it running and I'll drive it home. Got out of there and drove straight to the parts store to have the battery checked and sure enough the battery and charging system all tested great. The battery ended up lasting an entire year after the visit. I don't trust shops that pull this crap. read more
