As of 4/30 still waiting to hear from someone per that managers reply. A lot of words, no actions from the people at BreakMax. Just shady people and a shady business. I also want to note that while I was cleaning out my car this week, I found some large piece of grey plastic in the glove compartment that wasn't there before. I'm anxious to find out where it came from, in case I'm looking at something they broke that could cause me further issues later on as someone also posted in another review. read more

I highly recommend Brake Max, but more specifically this location. I met the manager, Jared, and ever since I have been able to call up and tell him I need some service (or even my mom needed service!) and he gets me in fast and really makes me feel like he values my business. I work in an industry where we are all selling the same service, much like the auto industry.. Brake Max sells World Class customer service and I will continually refer business over there. read more

CRIMINAL MALFEASANCE I knew there was something wrong when the guy told me the "original equipment" shocks were leaking on my 7 year-old car, because I had just replaced the rear shocks a year before and they were not original equipment and they were not leaking. Then he tried to sell me a wheel alignment and new brakes all around. I examined the tires, saw uneven wear, and opted for the wheel alignment but backed off the rest. I knew I had to find a new service dealer, as this place was untrustworthy. Three months later, I go for an oil change/rotation/inspection (NOT at Brake Max) and I learn that 1. All four shocks are fine, no leakage anywhere 2. Rear brakes are fine at 6 mm, needs front brakes only 3. Wheel key is broken, so consequently the two wheels on the left side cannot be removed. If I had gotten a flat on the left side, I would have been royally screwed, unable to remove the wheel. Imagine Interstate 8 between Tucson and Yuma, and getting a flat in the desert out there. End of the world. Brake Max never mentioned that they broke the key, and they probably did not even do the wheel alignment they charged me for, since the wheels could not be removed on the left side. 4. Wheels on the right side of the car had been removed but replaced with only three lug nuts, since they broke the lug key. So I've been driving around for 3 months with two wheels held on with only three nuts. This is beyond negligence, beyond incompetence; this is a criminal act, with a calculated cover-up that endagered the life of me and my family. If I thought they were worth wasting spit on, I'd hire a lawyer and sue their asses. Anybody can make a mistake, but to cover up a life-threatening error is inexcusable and unconscionable. I suspect the crime was not by some minimum-wage worker because of the way the manager lied to me about the shocks -- that implies the corruption goes all the way to the top, so this place is saturated with greed and bad judgment. Do not risk your life by going to this store. BTW, I had this car serviced for years at Brake Max #11 in Rita Ranch with excellent service and performance. This was my first time in a new neighborhood. Apparently these places are individually owned and operated by franchisees. This one, #8 at Camp Lowell, is run by criminals. Buyer beware. WOMEN BEWARE: I can't say that I won't be back because I received a GREAT Yelp check in deal for an oil change, HOWEVER, this is the second BRAKEmax I've been to and I have come to realize that no matter what you take your car in for, they are going to find additional work that "needs" to be done. The first time, I had JUST replaced my windshield wipers. They came back and indicated they were cracked and needed to be replaced. Today it was the headlights. I had them restored IMMEDIATELY before I went to BRAKEmax along with an alignment less than 5 months ago, but apparently, they thought both were necessary. No thanks! But the $20 oil change and tire rotation was GREAT! read more

Good job. It's my first time at Brakemax and you saved me $1,800 vs. going to the dealer.

I have had $1300 in repairs here over the last few months. So far I am happy that my car is running well and I am happy to have found a car repair shop near my house that can work on my '08 Prius. After a $900 repair I needed more work done on my car after only a few months. I think it's because my car is old. When I found that I needed the 2nd repair I called and THE rudest man answered the phone. He talked to me as if I was 5 years old and hung up on me! I eventually spoke to someone else but don't be surprised if you're a women and get treated like an idiot by the repair men. I give 5 stars bc the manager was much nicer. Maybe they should keep their service repair workers off the phones... read more

I normally go to this shop however, the last time I went they quoted me 0ver $870. before tax to fix my brakes. I was horrified wondering how this was even possible. They said the car needed new Calipers. I could never afford this. long story took it to another mechanic who my family uses and after looking at my car he said I do not need new calipers. I ended up paying $415. for front and back brakes and an oil change! I will never go back to this Brake Max store. The triple A truck driver told me he has had lot's of complaints about this particular store. read more

Quick, affordable, and super professional! Ran without A/C for almost 6 months and got it taken care of for a fraction of the price and time!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. First of all, I went to this shop on a recommendation of someone else and they knew that so they knew they had my trust ( my mistake ) I took my car in with exhaust fumes getting into my cab and a loud vibration at stop lights etc. They called with an estimate of $1200 with problems ranging from busted A/C tubes, to needing a new spark plug, and a serpentine belt that was "improperly installed". Those were only a few things. Like an idiot I agreed to have them repair these things. I go to pick up my car the same day and the total was up to $1300. (I'm 22 and broke so this was a BIG DEAL) Once I got home I looked over the receipt to find ridiculous charges as follows -Replace spark plugs - $225 -platinum spark plug - $39.99 -Spark plug boots - $69.99 -I was charged $152 for a 4 part fuel service that I DID NOT REQUEST AND WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT. - I specifically said I did not want an oil change and guess what... they changed my oil and charged me $40. I am new to town and am a young female so I definitely feel 100% taken advantage of. Businesses should make money off of trust. I will never trust another mechanic without getting a second and third opinion. Oh and by the way... My car is still making the loud vibrations.. read more

Awesome service. We have been there about 4 times and Jarred, the manager, always takes care of us! They provide excellent services, discounts, and are very honest with you. We try to do most of the work ourselves but when my husband deploys or we just don't have time it's nice to know we have somewhere reliable to go. Also, they recently cleaned our headlights bc they were cloudy HOLY COW like brand new! and its guaranteed! read more

I went to this Brake Max location in May and had a Tune-Up and replaced my air filter on my vehicle. An honest mistake made by one of the mechanics was that the tray that my air filter goes was not put back.I noticed I was having trouble driving my car, and not being so car savvy, I took my car to the Brake Max located off Houghton, by my house; for an oil change. The manager that was on duty there came out and stated that I had the wrong air filter on my car. I told him that the Brake Max off Camp Lowell replaced it. He decides to pull the receipt from the Camp Lowell location and comes back out to ket me know that the tray the air filter is missing and the the lid was mis-handled and is cracked and that I now need to pay $55 to replace both parts, and lastly that the location on Camp Lowell DID NOT loose the tray and did NOT crack the lid. I declined ordering the parts and did some research. I went back to the Brake Max on Camp Lowell and asked the manager there, Brad Powell if there could have been an honest mistake made with not placing the tray back where the air filter goes and if maybe one of the techs that worked on my car may have cracked the lid. He asked me for my keys and within 20 minutes, let me know that he would be ordering the parts for me and I could stop in to get the parts put in. BIG KUDOS to Brad Powell for his customer service! I will not go to the Brake Max that is located about 7 minutes from my house, I would prefer to drive the 40 minutes it takes to come to the Brake Max on Camp Lowell for their honest service and work. Thank you, Brad Powell. read more

I have been going to brakemax's for many years. The people who work at this particular location are honest and friendly. They are more than willing to give you a ride home and even pick you and they don't try to sell you nonsense like lots of other car shops do. read more

These are my go to guys. I always feel that they treat me fairly and honestly. But I always end up spending more than I can afford. Wish I could get more advice on how to plan for and prioritize car upkeep expenses on my aging but reliable vehicle. read more

First time at this location. Got an oil change, was upsold a pair of brake pads and their accompanying install. I was then asked to make a glass insurance claim in order to take part in their $50 discount. After being assured multiple times that I would receive the discount, I drove back to the shop, mind you after waiting hours without a call to let me know that my vehicle was ready, and was told that the discount would no longer apply. I have never been lied to so blatantly, repeatedly, and without real reason. All i ask for is for a little honesty, and for just one person to be upfront to me. one thing is certain, I will not return to this company for future repairs. read more

I had parked in front of a tinder block on a dirt road in the dark and accidentally moved my SUV over it when I had to leave. The contact was quick before I braked and reversed but it was enough to pop the plastic shielding underneath the car. The next day, I saw that the plate had come loose and was on the verge of falling off. I was on the other side of town from my regular BrakeMax so he recommended that I call Gary at this BrakeMax location. Gary was so nice to me on the phone, and he and his team stayed late passed their closing time (I arrived at 5:30pm) just to help me! Thanks, Gary! read more

saved me money going to these guys instead of dealer, just like other guy. thumbs up, will be back for sure
