When I called, I spoke with Josh, and he could not have been nicer. I drove straight there, and he and his service technicians took excellent care of me and my vehicle. They swapped out the tires, walked me through the service process and details, and did a full additional inspection of the other tires, fluids, and other components to ensure the car was safe and ready for travel. Not trustworthy. My car did not pass the emission test, approved for the Car help program with Arizona, this is one of the facilities authorized for the repairs. Made the appointment on Jan 10 to bring my car on Jan 17, got there on the 17th, first the guy could not find the appt on the computer, so I showed him the reminder on my phone, then he said the only certified technician was out for 1 month but he did not tell me so when I scheduled the appointment. He tried sending me to the Thornydale location but I was not driving that far. I wasted a full week for nothing, and I am running out of time. The guy was in a rush, he does not seem to give enough attention to each customer. He acted liked that when I made the appointment in person and also when I was there the day of the appointment. Made an 8:30 am appointment for a Black Friday special on an oil change. That was a very good price. Everything else they offered to do (declined) was foolishly expensive. $45 to change one brake light (part cost $4.50). For real, dudes? Also confused as to why, when I make a first thing in the morning appointment for a 20 minute job, it takes over an hour for them to get it done. After putting on new tires which I needed, the people at BrakeMax recommended doing additional work which would have totaled over $7200. I thought that was kind of high, so I brought my 2014 Toyota to my "old" car place, Brake Masters. I had used them a lot in the past, and I trusted them. They recommended work which I did, and which only cost me $1800. They said that the work which BrakeMax was suggesting was not necessary to do, and was probably an attempt to rip me off as a senior citizen and a woman. I replaced lower control arms on my Toyota and got the alignment so close to what is was before that the truck drove straight as an arrow down the road. I needed an alignment anyway and took it to Brakemax wherein they proceeded to ignore obvious factors such as larger than stock tires and wheels and proceeded to un-align my vehicle to the point it would not stay on the road. They handed me back a vehicle that refused to remain on the road. I immediately drove back and they kept figgeting with it over and over until they finally got it to drive relatively straight down the road but now with a 20 degree shift in the steering wheel. I was absolutely better off before going in and now have absolutely no faith in the alignment and will have to take it to another shop to get it right. I absorbed the cost and I refuse to allow them to put their hands back on my vehicle under any circumstances. It is unbelievable what they did after the amount of work I put into meticulously replacing lower control arms, bushings and ball joints with OEM parts and how careful I was with bringing the vehicle back to its original alignment. There just is not words for it. Don't call. Don't try to make it better. Keep the money and get better training with it. It is sad I have to give a star to make a post. Update: Took 4 runner to another shop and they confirmed that the alignment was out, specifically the toe, and significantly. They corrected the issue for me but at the cost of another alignment. read more

Update, my tire pressure light came on two days later. All of my tires were low. So these guys didn't bother to check that. I mean, if all of my tires were that low because I miraculously drove over a box of nails, surely, they would have needed re-filling again since I drove to Phoenix this week and 4 more days have passed. POOR FORM, GUYS. I brought in my own oil filter and my own full synthetic oil. Think I really believe that they used the stuff I brought--why would I believe them? Not impressed!!! I got a set of four new tires from Discount and thought it be worthwhile to check the alignment. I called to see if the alignment rack was available and was told yes and to come right over that they could fit me in. I was there within five minutes but when I arrived every bay was full and the alignment rack busy. Brushing it off I left my keys and asked to check the alignment. They called an hour and a half later and said the alignment was completed and to come pick up the vehicle. When I picked up my car I asked for the diagnostic report of the results before and after the alignment but was told they didn't do that. The receipt had incorrect information and showed my tires tread at 3/32. I honestly don't know if they even aligned my wheels but I paid the $65 and will never go back again. read more

Been going there for years now. Reasonable prices, not cheap but fair. Always have specials so look for coupons. Oracle Crossing folks always nice and do good work. Easy to schedule, can usually take it in the same day. Have worked with my extended warranty program in the past. Did have one time where they cleared the codes for a item that was a service bulletin that the dealer needed to deal with. The dealer wouldn't do anything because the codes were cleared so had to wait for it to re-occur, which of course it did on a road trip. Seems like they should have known not to clear codes on something like that. But it wasn't tragic. One time the pack rats got to some obscure wire in my truck and the work took 24 hours of labor, taking almost everything out and putting it back together. They did it and my truck works great. I will NOT be returning. BEWARE!!! I took our 2004 Elantra to Brakemax for an oil change. They have this "free" inspection they do. EVERYTHING on their inspection proved wrong. I bought a new battery, based on their report and now I wonder if we even needed one, based on the other items that allegedly needed fixed or replaced. Headlight and parking light bad. Nope. Bought the parts and had to return them after testing ourselves. Cabin air filter needed replaced. Nope, nice and almost new. Fan belt cracked due to improper installation during water pump repair done by our trusted mechanics. NOPE, NOPE. My wife and I inspected every inch of the fan belt and it was perfect. I've changed out short blocks, carbs, brakes etc for many years. I'm just getting too old to do this stuff, but I stupidly trusted BrakeMax to tell me the truth about what needed fixed/replaced. The front guy told me our Elantra has a timing chain. I knew better, heck it's right in the owner's manual it has a timing belt! BEWARE, they appear to be unscrupulous. read more

Had some horrible noises coming from the driver's side wheel well when I turned to the right... but only after driving for longer than 10 minutes. (NOTE: When reading this review, it is important to know that the shop was a SHORT distance away from my home and it was about 40°F) Initially, they couldn't find anything wrong with car. Everything looked good underneath and the noise couldn't be replicated. I happily hopped into my car and drove away. The noise suddenly started again after I drove for about 4 miles, I called and Ricardo recommended I immediately return to the shop and pull directly into the back. ALL of the technicians heard the noise when I arrived. They found the problem almost instantaneously. A rock from our beloved Tucson roads was hiding between the brake rotor and backing plate. The rock would drop down after the system warmed up and cause the awful, screeching cacophony. It wouldn't do it when the system was cold. Honestly, I blame myself for not driving further before taking it in on such a cold day, as that was the only time the issue arose. Gary and Ricardo were extremely helpful and nice. The technicians were great as well! They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I was not charged for this entire inspection or process! I highly recommend this establishment! Even if I didn't live up the road, I would drive accross Tucson to have Gary and his team fix my car. NOTE to any other auto repair shops in Tucson, don't even think of trying to contact me!!! Why, am I so pleased? Nothing, and I do mean nothing, is too much trouble for them to do for me. This past week was to order and replace my rear windshield wiper. I have a Subaru Forrester which means it has to be specially ordered. Next day? Arrived, replaced, and I was on my way. I wrote about two years ago giving glowing reports on the professionalism, can/will do attitude and excellent repair service; nothing has changed. Taking care of their customers is a top priorty! Two years ago I needed a complete set of new tyres. I bought my Subaru in 2011. Another store gave me a quote on 85,000 mile tyres. Gary very diplomatically told me that given the fact that, even after 12 years, I still only have 23,000 miles on my car, he wouldn't advise getting this grade of tyre. What Gary was too diplomatic to say, so I said it for him, was that as I am in my very late 70's I definitely don't need 85,000 mile tyres!. I was bringing my truck there for oil changes and I ended up needing a tuneup they charge me $1300 which I guess was about right for what they said they did but they took out two coils they say we're not working there's a coil on each cylinder and did other work but never saved any of the parts to show me so I said OK and I went in one final time to have an oil change and they told me my oil pan gasket was in need of replacement because it was leaking and my rear differential gasket was leaking and needed to be replaced for a total cost of about $800 I took it to another place Aarons affordable automotive when they got it up on the lift they showed me that the oil pan was not leaking and did not need replacing and they charge me $100 to replace the differential gasket I would not recommend Brakemax. read more

I mistakenly took my truck here instead of Brake Masters. I provided the part for my truck and asked them to install it and change my oil. I was quoted at Brake Masters it would be around $50 to fix what was needed on my truck, that was them providing the part and labor. Here at BRAKE MAX, they charged me $48 just to install a part I provided. I guess I learned my lesson, I'll NEVER go to a BRAKE MAX again. UPDATE:they gave me a lower price because of this post. To the manager, my facts are straight. I shouldn't have to bitch about $10. But when it is more than the other place with them providing the part and labor.....I'm going to bitch. read more

Because Arizona is a state that requires emissions testing, I was forced to bring my car into get the check engine light fixed. Jared, the manager at this location, was incredibly nice and helpful. I had previously brought my car to a couple other mechanics and they had not resolved my problem. It was not cheap/affordable as they charged $80 for the initial diagnostics and after labor and parts, I paid well over four benjamins, but the promptness and the courtesy helped the pain of the cost a little bit. Unfortunately the rest are not willing to understand your problems and are just guided by dumb policy. i had my escalade serviced with them since two years. last servuce was like two weeks back- wife took it for service . I knew battery is upfor renewal but they dudnt mention anything about it. 15 days later , battery went dead in am and i knew it needs replacement - tried to jump it but caught sparks so i was afraid . went to them to come help me as i stay right opposite at summerlin villas - guess what - we cant help u , get it towed here was their answer! i went straight to breakmasters in grant and columbus and they sent a tech with me who jumped my car and brought it back to have my battery replaced . i have three cars and i had switched my first car- a crosstour to them after they could fix a problem no one including brakemax could fix. now i am switching my crv and escalade to brakemasters at grant and columbus as they are fantastic. read more

I dont recommend going here if youre a solo female looking for an oil change. Tried to charge me $100 for a synthetic oil change (lol). Good thing my brother is a mechanic in another state so Im familiar with the true price of oil changes and I told them I wouldnt be paying that price. Of course after being called out, they give you "discounts" which is really just what the price should have been originally. I felt grossed out by the whole situation so when I got home, I looked at my receipt from the last time I let them change my oil and carbon air filters. Turns out they charged me an extra $20 for "air filters" on top of the $40 for the "carbon air filters". Unfortunately my boyfriend picked up my car that day so I never noticed the receipt. Long story short, just dont go here unless you want to be ripped off. Youre better off elsewhere. read more

Terrible service. Left my car at 8:30am and was told it would take an hour and a half. Called at 11:00am to check on it and was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. Showed up at noon and noticed my car was parked where I had left it. Maybe coincidence. At the counter, I was first told that the ticket needed to set entered in by the techs in the garage and it would be 15 minutes. 15 minutes to enter in a ticket on a completed service? I asked her to check on that. She did, and came in to notify me that they had not actually started on my car, yet. I asked for the keys and got the hell away from there. If you like being strung along with fake times for when your work will be completed, then maybe this place will work for you. If you value your time and don't like being lied to, stay away from this place. read more
