I have chosen these guys over the last 4&1/2 years of living here. They are honest (most important to me), reliable, and produce quality work. I've had them do the following to my 2019 F-150: cold air intake, 4 shocks, alignment, spark plugs, ATF replacement, brake fluid flush, partial coil replacement (the Ford dealer I know would have done all six), reset my transmission. I love these folks. I drive a 40 year old truck, and am not patient enough to be mechanically inclined, so I needed to find someone who can work on older vehicles like this. She's too young to be a classic car, but too old for most shops to take on- there's no computer to plug into. It's really hard to find someone who is comfortable and confident and competent working on older vehicles- I'm so grateful to the folks at RRA&T for taking such good care of my baby! One would expect high labor rates since some detective work is needed to fine the source of some issues, but their work is always reasonably priced. I meant to write this back in October 2020, but I lost the receipt for the work and forgot the name of the place. But I found the receipt and now here is my review! I was traveling through Tucson on my way home to CA. While on the road my battery light came on. I figured it was my alternator. It was late in the afternoon and I didn't want to end up stuck overnight. I called Rita Ranch Auto and they told me to bring it in and they could probably have it done for me that day. I was very impressed that not only were they extremely professional and reasonably priced, but they were able to get me back on the road very quickly! I cannot express enough gratitude for how much they helped me in a tough spot. They were able to replace my alternator and have me back on the road within a couple of hours! I have a relatively new car, so I haven't needed Terry's service for a while, but as I was on the interstate, the skid plate under my car came unbolted on one side causing such awful noise that I thought I had blown a tire. Took my 2019 Chevy Malibu Lt in due to the AC not working. The staff checked it out and I got the phone call I did not want to get. The compressor was out and needed to be replaced. I did have a car warranty and the staff did all the leg work and phone calls for me to get it replaced. This took a huge burden and stress off of my family. This shop is not on AAA 's referral list and I understand why. Driving through Tucson our brake system malfunctioned. This shop was close to where our car needed to be towed from. It was late in the day and we were stranded. The front shop guys are friendly and we thought we had made a good decision based on their initial helpfulness and probable questionable FB review 4.8 from14 persons. Bottom line: exorbitant price for front rotors, calipers, master cylinder remove and replace, brake system flush job (on both parts and labor) -over $1800 (before a $75 discount given) for 2012 Hyundai Genesis. Parts cost checked at three well known auto stores about $700. But we were stuck and stranded from out of town without hardly any options and therefore had to pay the exorbitant price -No issue thus far with repairs that took less than 4 hours after RRA received the parts If you have an option then do yourself a favor and find a shop that does not charge an unfair rate. read more

I have been using these guys for a couple of years now. I liked them and the shop was close to home. Over the course of that time I have had multiple things happen to my car, after I had it in there for repairs. 1st) after having my car worked on here I noticed that the plate that cover the tow port in the front of my car was missing. I went back and complained about it. They replaced it with the wrong part and didn't have the clamp on the back to hold it on, so of course it fell off. So I went to a body shop and got the correct part with the right color of paint because that was done cheesy too. So that part is still on today because it was done right at the body shop. 2nd) The next time I had work done for the bearings in the left front wheel went bad. They discovered that the steering arm was worn out and needed replaced. They showed it to me and I said okay take care of it. My cars has a lots of miles on it and parts are getting worn out. This time afterwards I went on a road trip to Rocky Point. When I got to the boarder all the guys there were pointing at my car telling me my shield was hanging down. Sure enough it was. Well, whom ever worked on my car didn't bolt the shield back up into place. The guys at the boarder helped me tie it up temporary until I got to rocky point. The screws were missing and I had to new ones installed at Rocky Point. I am lucky the thing didn't come flying off wreaking the underside of my car. 3rd) This last time I needed the pump replace on my windshield wiper fluid. Seems simple enough right? Wrong! Shortly after I left the shop I got on the freeway and I began to hear something in my right front tire and I turned off my radio to listen and bam! The wheel well shielding come flying out of the tire well and I had to pull over. I got out and looked. Well the guy that worked on my car didn't put the SCREWS back that holds the shield in place. I couldn't drive my car because the shield was half ripped out of my car and I didn't have the tools to removed that 3 screws out of the 10 screws that were never removed. I call them and they sent the person out that worked on my car to help me because I couldn't drive the car. He was a young person I would guess lacking experience. When I told him he didn't replace the screws, he lied and said he did. I hate liars. (People who aren't brave enough to speak the truth). Really! I am smarter that that. When I got back to the shop they were going to try and put the ripped up shield back into to place and I had to tell them no because of the damage to it. He said he would order me a new one. Now I have huge doubts about the workmanship there and have concerns about the safety of my car. It is safe to say I won't be having any more work done to my car there. Sad, because I was liking it there close to home, and I do like their tires, but the safety issue takes precedence. 3 STRIKES AND YOUR OUT! read more

We are very disappointed in this family owned business. Took our truck in for coolant flush and brought it home to still have the original sour smelling coolant. They claim to have done the flush but if it was done correctly and not half assed then we would continue to patron their place of business! For those that don't know there is NOT a universal coolant that's used for all cars! If that's what they tell you then that's crap! They did not offer a do over with (correct) fluid or offer to give us our money back! Not all vehicle take the same fluids! If you wonder why your car is running crappy after a appointment then you'll know why! Please do your homework prior to any car service. Do not hesitate to ask questions. Take pictures of your car part that's being worked on prior and compare them with after pics. Don't be afraid to get a 2nd opinion! read more

Very disappointed with the result of my service. Everything started off fine when I called and asked if they could fix a dead truck that would be towed in. I asked for a diagnostic eval to determine the problem and received a call from Terry informing me that it was a bad fuel pump. It took about about a week for the repair (parts order and then replacement), which is reasonable. When I got the bill, the cost for a replacement fuel pump was over $400. When I got home and researched the cost of a replacement fuel pump, other retailers carried the same part for $85-140. That is an extreme markup and made me wonder if that was a "special" price for an out-of-towner. Although the service experience was good, the excessive part cost is enough for me to recommend you go elsewhere for service. I really really wanted to write a good review. Honestly. In fact, my first straight forward "please replace this part" repair here was fantastic, and they really are a great group of guys. Pricing was great too. The second repair where a diagnostic was needed first, they blew it. Let me start by saying that I normally take my vehicles just up Houghton to the BrakeMax. A little more expensive but they've got all my vehicle history and know me pretty well. When the last issue occurred, BrakeMax wasn't open and I was in a pinch. Given that RR Auto had done a good job on the previous part install, I figured why not. Brought the car in, had great service at the front, did my best to detail the issues and sounds I was experiencing and left the car. Got a call later that day that they had found the issue and it wasn't nearly as expensive as I'd feared. I had to pick it up the following Monday but regardless, I was super impressed with the time and cost and I happily did so. Within 24 hours, however, we noticed that both of the original symptoms were still present. It took over a week to get it back in, and when I did finally, I was told the original issue wasn't able to be reproduced and that now I'd likely need a repair north of $2k. The answer as to why the original part was replaced was that it was loose and causing vibration, but it still didn't address the squeal that never went away, nor the other issue. In fact, had it been diagnosed properly in the first place, I probably wouldn't have approved the first repair knowing I'd be in for such an expensive overall fix. I work in a diagnostic based business and completely understand how difficult it is to pin down some issues. I also know that when I do misdiagnose something, or assume it's repaired and return it to the customer, if I'm wrong and that unit comes back and it turns out that I replaced a part unnecessarily or missed the bigger/more expensive root cause, I eat the first charge to the customer because it was my mistake or an oversight of one of my technicians. Accidents happen, mistakes occur, totally get it. Shops get busy and stressful and we are only human. My issue is that there was exactly one apology and no offer to reimburse any of my original expenses. Not even a discount on the new repair I'd need. My suspicion is that the technician couldn't reproduce the vibration, saw a loose part and figured that must be what's causing the sound, replaced said part, fired it up and didn't hear a squeal and figured it was a done deal. Button it up, finish paperwork, done. Except it needed more time or more information from me to help get to the $2k conclusion. Like maybe a phone call that could have gone something like, "Hello sir, this is RR Auto, we can't reproduce one of your symptoms, can you maybe give us some additional info and how to make it happen so we can test it to make sure we got it right?". Nice guys but nice only goes so far when you drop the ball and don't want to admit it. I'm bummed because I was really excited to support a local business, especially one that supports schools but I won't take another vehicle there for diagnostics. read more

Came by passing through from New Mexico to California noticed air coming from tire called this spot first they were closest told us it would be 15 if they could do it and sure enough got the rock that had the tire punctured but also a nail that was there. I've been regularly getting maintenance done by them on both of our cars for the last 3 years. If there was a 6th star available, I'd give it to them. They are always punctual, honest, and really do well with the amount of customers they have come in daily. The waiting area is comfortable, they have WiFi, a counter to get work done at, water fountain and coffee. They are quick in calling about updates to the car as well and will always call to confirm work that has any additional cost than originally planned for. Complimentary tire rotations if all tires were bought through them. We have always been pleased with the results of their work. Car maintenance would be miserable if they weren't here! read more

We have always taken our car to brake max for an oil change. They were unable to accommodate an appointment, so we ended up taking our vehicle to Rita Ranch Automotive. I'm a chick, so I love the fact that the facility smells like an air freshener versus the normal tire smell. :) The dog adds to the cute factor, but more than anything, I like that they make me feel welcomed and that they WANT my services. Brake Max always seemed to make comments about the time we showed up for oil changes (5pm - when they close at 530), so it always made me feel uncomfortable. This place is why I don't like taking my cars to a shop. Took my truck in for an alignment and was told I needed a inner tie rod ($245) and a caster/camber kit ($185). Opted to do the work myself, I bought a Moog tie rod on Amazon for $44 and the caster/camber kit on ebay for $63. I changed the tie rod in about 20 minutes; super easy to do. And I'm not an expert on tie rods but the new one didn't seem any different than the old one, that is, I could not detect any play or looseness in the ball and socket of the tie rod. I should have made them show me the looseness in the wheel when I was there the first time but they also didn't offer this...hmmm. The caster/camber kits took about 45 minutes to install. Took the truck back and they told me the bolts in the caster/camber kits were installed in the wrong direction. I don't get this as the bolt can rotate 360 degrees so what difference does the direction of installation make unless they prefer a particular direction. Anyway, I told them to put them in however they need and they ripped me for $100 to take out 4 bolts and put them back in in the opposite direction, and their easy to get to as well...WOW. And the guy that told me they were charging me to do it seemed shocked that I would even suggest that they should do that for free. Ok, so charge me a small fee but not 1 hour labor for something that takes 10 minutes...crooks. I get most people don't work on their own cars but I was a diesel mechanic early in my life and spent my entire life (now 60) working in various mechanical disciplines and doing all my vehicle maintenance. I feel for the people that these types of shops take advantage of and they do it with a straight face. They were mostly friendly but when I politely told the same guy I didn't detect a problem with the tie rod he immediately went on the offensive. In my opinion, this place is no better than a Big-O, Discount Tire, or any other franchise shop. Wont go back...ever. read more

I can't say enough great things about this place! I had a transmission leak that luckily was something simple but Ray had it ready to go the next morning. I then dropped off my other car that was running a little rough and again had it ready to go within a day. When I went to pick it up, Terry offered to have Ray drive one of my cars home for me since I live only a few blocks away. Talk about customer service!! Everyone was very knowledgeable and courteous.
