Long story, if you can take it. I have been buying tires from Discount Tires ever since I discovered them in Tucson. Since then, I have bought from Discount Tires in at least three cities, since I travel too much. A total of well over 50 tires, on over a dozen cars by actual count. All B.F. Goodrich KO tires, since I live on a dirt road, and need the extra protections on the sidewalls. Any time I have bought a car, I have gone straight to Discount Tires to put on a new set. Expensive, but if you've ever changed a tire on a dirt road in southern Arizona in the summer, you will understand. Discount Tires offers a pretty good guarantee, which I have used more than once. Good stuff. At least until yesterday, when I ran into a brick wall at the store where I have bought the most tires. I got a slow leak in one of my front tires, so I took my Subaru in to my favorite store to get it repaired. They advertise that they will fix flats whether you bought it from them, or not. Slam dunk, since I actually bought the tire from them anyway, right? Wrong. Alex went on out to my car when I brought it in at the appointed time, and looked at all the tires on my car, and reported that he could not fix the flat on my front tire, because one of the rear tires is 11 years old. Huh? What does that have to do with the front tire, I asked? Well, it turns out that company policy, according to Discount Tires, is that they will not work on a car that has an old tire. Not work on the tire, the whole car. Doesn't matter if they sold the tire in question, all the tires on the car, or none of them. Company policy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I whined that I had been a great Discount Tires customer for decades, always bought the high-dollar tires, blah blah. No dice. He hands me back the keys, shows me the door[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Now, you may ask why I have such an old tire on my car to begin with. Well, the tread is not only not worn out, but it matches perfectly the wear on the rest of the tires on the car. If you have ever owned a Subaru, you know what this means. If your tires are mismatched in the tread, you will toast your transmission eventually. Really. Ask friends who drive Subarus. So, if I replaced the old tire, I would have to buy four BFG tires, for well over a thousand bucks. Rather not, if I don't have to. The old tire has about half the tread, has no cracks, has been watched carefully over the years, but its old. End of story. No more Discount Tires for me. Woke yesterday to a rusty nail in my SUV tire. Stopped into Discount Tire without an appointment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Immediately greeted by Caesar at the counter, who jumped outside to evaluate the tire.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A screw was the culprit, and it was fairly close to the edge of the tire which can require a full tire replacement if determined not 'pluggable'. Caesar threw the vehicle on a lift, plugged it 'himself' and had me out of there in under 60 minutes at NO CHARGE. While quick plugs at no cost are part of the Discount Tire business model, I want to highlight, the screw was so close to the tire edge, it could have gone either way, they could have easily & unnecessarily sold me on a new tire - but they didn't. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wonderful, honest, and quick customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am going to need 4 new tires in March 2026 - and I will definitely be returning to Discount Tire for that requirement. Discount Tire - a bad day - Tires Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

This is how to lose the 3rd generation customer. 3 generations have gone to Discount Tire. I am not sure what has happened to them and their supply chain, sadly, I went to Wal-Mart this time. First I ordered and pre-paid for a set of tires and scheduled an appointment online. I did it a week out to allow time to get the tires which according to the web site would take 3-5 days. Not a big deal. They called me 2 days before and told me these tires were out of stock. I asked him about the website, and then he told me the tires were actually discontinued and not available. So I asked him for something comparably priced, and he indicated they had nothing even close, and he then tried to upsell. Never offered to price adjust another tire since "nothing was close". I had him cancel the order. It was disappointing Thinking this was a web site problem I called corporate to discuss why their websites display tires that are discontinued and not available? It was interesting as it turns out the Tucson employee was either lying, lazy, or misinformed. There were over 1200 of these at the time, in the supply chain. There was no web site problem, the tires are a new line and not discontinued. I agreed to have the store manager call me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Talked to the store manage and he was apologetic after I explained what happened. He said he could get some similarly priced tires and offered to do so.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked him why can't you get the ones I originally ordered? It turns out he just didn't want to put forth the effort. He hemmed and hawed about they are not in the warehouse but are in other stores inventories. The stores would have to pull the tire, label it, and FedEx it and it was a challenge for the stores to do that. I mean come on if you don't want to do that, that's fine. I told him I would think about different tires and make a decision at some point. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager did follow--up a few times but I never called back after that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mean, come on, if you don't want to make the effort to get the tires from another store then get them off the web site as available in 3-5 days. It gets better. So I waited a month figuring he had reminded the staff of the procedures. A month later I order the tires again, this time with a 10-day lead time. Again, pre-paid. The Wednesday before the appt I called to check the status. It was apparently training day on a new POS system. I spoke to someone who was there assisting, and he confirmed the tires were ordered the same day I placed the order. This is a good thing. However---there was no tracking number listed. The trainer took my information and handed it off to a store employee who was supposed to find the tracking number and call me the next day. So now its appointment day, Saturday. Appointment time 0815. I was drinking coffee getting ready and at 0730 the call came....we never got the tires. I mean come on man. He at least offered a comparable tire/price point. The ones he offered had a lower treadwear rating.... He tried but I finally said, look, just cancel the order. He apologized and cancelled. The refund showed up mid-day. If an employee thinks they are discontinued when fact they are new that's a problem. If the Texas store that was supposed to pull the tires can't be bothered, that's a problem. If the web site promises 3-5 days (I was good with 10-14!) and the supply chain can't deliver it, its either a chain problem or a people problem. I see now, when the manager tells me getting tires from other stores is problematic. The other stores can't seem to be bothered to pull the tires and ship them. Now I have my appointment at Wal-mart. I had a flat on a tire that I just bought new at another store and I brought it in to Discount Tire to get fixed. When I picked up the car the guy told me that they couldn't fix the tire because the leak was in a bad spot, so they had to give me a new tire. I asked what I owed them and he told me that it was policy that if they couldn't fix the leak they had to replace the tire with a brand new one at no charge. I couldn't believe it. I don't have much money and buying tires is not easy for me. This company is so honorable...that is almost unheard of nowadays. On 4/6/2024, I was pulled out of the parking lot at Reid Park Zoo in Tucson. I saw a pothole in the road and tried to avoid it, but couldn't miss it. My tire started losing air pressure. I was able to make it to this Discount Tire. The staff and manager did everything they could to find a tire that would work for me. The required tire size is hard to find. I've been buying my tires from Discount for decades--in several cities. They have the most knowledge, the best tires, and the most courteous workers I've experienced. I was coming over the rise on Speedway (west) and heard a thud and a pop. Knowing Discount was a block away, I coasted right in. They were busy, of course. My service manager had my car in and disassembled in minutes. He showed me the tires and explained the problem,complete with photos. By now, I had chosen two tires I preferred. Asked the service manager. He advised me in which he thought was the better purchase and why. Mounted the tires, gave me a very decent price, and I was out in less than two hours: this includes the time it took to get my tire choice across town. I'm staying with Discount. I've been to this location a bunch of times for tire air refills. Unfortunately, while driving around, one of my tires popped and I needed to get new tires ASAP. After popping on my spare and finally getting home around 7 PM. I got onto the discount tire website and scheduled an appointment for 9:30 AM the following day. I received a call the next morning at 9 AM from Javier to confirm that I would make it for my appointment. I pre-purchased my two tires in advance off the website as I knew my tire size but there was also an easy-to-use guide for finding your tire size if you didn't have it on hand. I pulled up at 9:32 and there was a car bay with a reserved sign and my name on it. I pulled up and Javier greeted me. I went inside and he confirmed my order. The handled my service, changed my tires, and put my spare back where it was and I was off the lot by 10:20 AM. Great and friendly service. Read my Previous review- updating to simply follow up on their insanely awesome tire guarantee. Shortly after we replaced our run flat tires I discovered a Giant screw in one of the tires. It was for sure going to be a full tire replacement and more money spent. Alas, they replace your tire at no cost with in the first 90 days. I was amazed and honestly so grateful to a company that takes that kind of guarantee for customers. I'm DT customer for life. read more
