Zero starts for the way they treated my daughter. First time months ago they screwed it up, they did fix it. So she tried them again, her car started auto breaking while on the 60! Needless to say scariest experience, and my heart fell out of my chest. Her husband talked to them and they got her a rental car. Stereotypical staff, taking advantage of women, incompetence or laziness, and referring to the owner in racial slurs. This manager makes the whole chain look bad. If I could give the woman at the front desk negative stars I would. I called breaks plus they have me a general quote as I was on my way there I passed this brake masters. Since it's closer to my house I walked in and asked for a quote to get my breaks done. First I stood at the counter for over 5 min while no one came in to help me. Finally when the woman with blonde hair did she was not wanting to give me a break pad quote. She kept giving me the run around. I told her to please just give me a ball park so I know where it starts. She punched in her keyboard for a few minutes then took calls and answered others questions instead of giving me a quote. I took my car to Brakes Plus on Country Club and Baseline Road. They installed my $64.00 brake caliper for $50.00. Brakes plus said I had 80% left on the front brakes and 70% left on the rear brakes, and I definitely did NOT need new brakes. Here is what I want you to know about Brake Masters...if they would charge me outrageous prices for parts, and try to sell me a brake job I did not need, they would do the same thing to you. The crew was were speedy and efficient and so very nice. They're a must for when getting a unexpected car repair or every day maintenance. Prices were competitive. No problems with service except when I called I was quoted $89 and then later was given a different price ($125.) When I asked about the discrepancy they 2nd guy said the first quote was for a subpar product (pads) and he did not recommend using that product. I would prefer that additional counsel during my first quote. I felt this practice was a little shady. Also, their hours are only until 5:30pm. For a service industry this seems insufficient. It definitely was for me. I had difficulty coordinating with their limited schedule and had to coordinate rides to leave my vehicle overnight. read more

I wasn't going to even bother writing a review, but after looking at the printout of all the stuff they recommended, it just seemed necessary since another person who came in with similar circumstances while I was there pretty much got the same report and left without them doing the work same as I did. After he specifically told them not to take off his back wheels, they did anyway and said he needed new pads in the back. First off, I know my way around a car. I've replaced my own timing belts and CV axles. I just didn't feel like working on the brakes since I had just had them done not too long ago. I had them do my front brakes at the end of 2013 with the lifetime brakes. I had the back brakes done somewhere else. The front brakes only had 23k miles on them. Lately, when you put on the brakes, it would feel like the front wheels were shaking. I know this is a result of a warped or worn rotor. These were the factory rotors so I was prepared to have them replace the rotors keeping the same pads since they had half the life left and willing to pay a couple hundred bucks. I was told they would get me right in and look at it. Well, 2 hours later they finally come back with a 2 page report which totaled over 850 for all the supposed recommended things they found. On the top of the report, it said front brake pads worn 50% and back pads worn 20%. OK, so I still have half the life left on the front brake pads that they installed just a little over 2 years ago. Knowing a front rotor cost around 50 from AutoZone, I was fully prepared to pay for new front rotors and the hour it would take them to do it. Replacing rotors on my car is easy to do. So, the report says they want to replace both front and back pads and rotors as well as due a brake fluid flush. The front alone was going to cost $350 bucks. I'm sorry, but WTF. I ordered 2 front Duralast rotors and new ceramic brake pads for less than $100 on Amazon delivered the next day, and spent a total of 1.5 hours replacing them in my garage. I got new pads because they were better quality than the ones on there. I understand they have to make a buck, but that is robbery. For those who don't know about cars, they would have no clue as to what they are being told and just pay it never knowing how over priced they are. Stephanie is nice and the waiting area is OK and the reason for two stars instead of one, but other than that I won't be going back. There prices are two high, wait is to long and the lifetime warranty is just a tactic to get you in the door. read more

I've been bringing my car into Brake Masters for simple oil changes for years! Never an issue... Actually, they've always been the ones to let me know an issue may be coming in the near future. Never pushing to repair or digging deeper into my pockets - always simply giving me a heads up in case I decide to repair. Yesterday a bad battery AND alternator left me stranded on the highway with my newly purchased SUV. I requested Brake Masters install my provided replacement alternator, to which they agreed and did successfully. It was in the midst of the replacement job that Brake Masters went above and beyond. Autozone -- where I bought the alternator -- charged me for the correct part and supplied me with the wrong one. Jason at BM took care of all the transferring and switching needed to get the alternator in the building so the car would be ready for me before closing. Toyota service recommended new front brake pads and resurfacing of rotors. Another shop (Big O Tires - store # 4156) recommended new brake pads and new rotors. Based on the estimate received from Brake Masters, I decided to go in and have them do the work. Turns out that I did NOT need any work to the front brakes. Pads were only at the 50% mark and still had lots of useful life before needing attention. I sincerely appreciate their honesty and when the brakes do need to be serviced in the future, this Brake Masters will get my business! read more

I've come to this location on and off over the past few years (when I haven't gone it's because I've had free services done at my car dealership), and out of all of the car service shops I've been to they are the only ones I feel have been honest and fair with me. I'm a twenty something year old woman so I know I'm a major target demographic for less than reputable mechanics, but every time I've come here I've felt taken care of. The people at the service desk are always super friendly, and I have never been recommended a service that my car doesn't need. In fact, on one occasion they told me I had a nail in my tire and recommended I go to Discount Tire to get the best price. This Brake Masters location is the only place I plan on taking my business to in the foreseeable future. read more

They're lazy, they don't really do 21 point inspection. I was told my car was perfectly fine. Took it to a different location where I was told my air filter was very dirty my wipers needed replacement, my rotors needed to be resurfaced, and worst of all my struts were leaking and needed to be replaced. Called the district manager and basically I was called out a liar and he defended his employees. Customer service doesn't matter to them. Specially if you're a woman, they assume you don't know anything about cars. Will never return to brake masters. read more

I took my truck to this Brake Masters a few months ago when I first bought it. They told me I need new brakes and rotors for the front and they resurfaced the rotors in the back. Two months later I took the truck back to them because it was vibrating like crazy. They told me I need rear brake pads and replace the rear rotors as well (even though they had resurfaced them just two months before). I let them replace everything ($700), it was a Monday and I picked up the truck at 5pm before they close. The next day, I drove it on the highway and it was shaking like crazy and barely driveable. I took it back around 10am and told them I was leaving town in a few hours so they need to fix the issue. I picked it up again around 1pm and they had supposedly rotated my tires back which "got rid of the vibration." We started driving out of Phoenix towards San Diego, and within the first 100 miles, my "check brake system" warning light came on. Long story short, their technicians did something so horrible that my ENTIRE rear end axle broke...that's right, the axle literally broke. We were stranded in Yuma on the side of the road for hours. I had it towed to a mechanic in Yuma and rented a car because my wife, brother, and I had to be somewhere that day. The damage caused by Brake Masters was well documented by the mechanic in Yuma and the bill was literally $4,000 to fix the truck which I paid. It took over a week to fix it and my wife and I had to drive back the rental and pick it up (7 hour drive back and forth). Brake Masters was contacted and their explanation for what happened was "it's a coincidence that your axle broke" and my entire rear end collapsed. Again, this is after the mechanic in Yuma showed them pictures of all that they saw when they diagnosed the truck. Also, the Brake Masters district manager had reached out to me when I contacted them and promised to "stand by their work and they'll make it right." They did neither. Their insurance company paid $300 (no joke) to the Yuma mechanic shop to replace my rotors and brake pads again. I'm a contractor and the loss of use of my truck was absolutely disastrous. As a small business owner myself, I could not believe my eyes when I saw that Brake Masters is not taking responsibility for this very blatant negligence. I know that mistakes can happen, the least a business can do is fix them when people mess up. Needless to say, I'm filing a lawsuit for all the damages and they lost me as a customer forever. Again, as a business owner myself, I know I'm not judged by the 1000 great jobs I do but by how I handle that one bad job resulting from my company's mistake. Brake Masters has failed in the most basic of business principles, take responsibility for your actions to maintain your reputation. Shame on them. read more

I will be the first to admit that I know absolutely nothing about cars and put my trust into brake masters based on previous experience with them and their reviews on various websites. My car had been doing a strange thing where it would suddenly feel like it was going into neutral for no reason at all when I would attempt to accelerate and my check engine light was on as well. My husband took it in for a routine repair as I was at work at the time. They quoted many things that needing to be done, citing the main problem to be that the coolant temperature sensor needed to be repaired. Sure. I pay to have that done as well as some other maintenance which they assured me was necessary hose replacement, a radiator flush, corroding on the battery... alright. 80,000 miles seems like the time to do those kind of things. Things are fine for a couple of days. Then, out of the blue, my car does the whole going into neutral thing and then stops altogether in the middle of the road. I know that I have a "warranty" on all labor (yeah, right) so I take the car in. I have already paid these people an astronomic amount of money for all of their "labor" and clearly if the original problem is not fixed, they will fix it for me right? Wrong. "Well, it shows me the crank sensor is damaged" So... Why was that not fixed before? "I'm just not sure if that is what it is...." So I'm thinking to myself, then why did you tell me it was the coolant temp sensor if that's not what the original problem was... Basically he doesn't know what is wrong with the car.... I take it to another mechanic who tells me that they did a bunch of completely unnecessary work (hoses are fine for many more miles), coolant temp sensor has nothing to do with what was originally wrong with my car, basically they totally scammed me and I fell for it. I then try and get some type of reparation from them as all of the "labor" that went into the car was all for nothing and it is still having the original problem. They tell me that the manager will call me later tonight. I wait. Its almost closing so I call again. New guy. "Oh, the manager is out of town until Thursday..." I know that they are trying to get me to relent and just let it go at this point, but I have no intention of doing that. They may be brake "masters" but clearly this is the only thing that they should be doing and I'm not sure why I was assured of anything otherwise. Please, do not let them scam you. read more

If there is a option, I would give them zero star. Took my car there for simple oil change last Saturday. This Monday I found my car is dripping oil. Took the car back, they show me there is a crack on the oil pan and asked me if I hit something. I was like you guys broke my oil pan and try to blame on me. They said it cost over 300 bucks to fix the pan. No thank you. I cannot believe that. Now I have to paid over 300 bucks for what it would be just a simple oil change. He literally called a customer a "fucking prick" after the customer walked out of the door and continued to talk smack about the customer TO ME and to his co-workers in the shop. Quick, friendly, and reliable! I usually get my oil changed at Walmart for the convenience, but sometimes I get a coupon via text (yes, I signed up for these so it's okay), or sometimes I need other services for my car. They are close by and I always get right in. I'm glad I went in this day... Walmart had a line and the text deal was great at $17.95! Brake Masters got me right in. Oh, they also noticed a belt was going bad. I thought maybe they were trying to up sell me, but the mechanic brought the old belt in for me to check it out (I didn't ask him to, but it brought peace of mind!). Unrelated to the actual service, the water from the fountain was so good! Tap water in AZ is pretty nasty so whatever filters they have work wonders, lol. I was tight on money at the time so he gave me a breakdown of what % I had left on both my front and back brakes. Went with the immediate needed brakes in the back and the rotors and agreed I would be back in 2 wks for the front ones which still had some time on them. i appreciate when I don't get the run around.... go figure right? Went in thinking I needed to get my Brakes replaced on my car. My car was having trouble stopping fast enough and it took me a lot to push down on my brakes. They did an evaluation while I waited and figured out the problem. The woman Stephanie at the front was super friendly and explained the issue of my brakes. She had me in and out within 30 min, which is typical when you get your car worked on. They didn't over charge for service and did a great job. I have 4 cars I've been taking to Brake Masters for years. I have had to keep my eye on them with the pricing and the quality of service. You'd think they would value my business with the thousands of work every year I send them. Well I took my truck in for an alignment and the quoted me $3000 for some work I did in my driveway for $600 including paying a helper. They wanted $610 for an upper control arm assemble that cost me $100 at Autozone. I'm never going there again and I will make it a point to call them out in person. read more

Set up an appointment for as soon as they opened to get my transmission flushed, and have my AC and brakes checked. Was fully prepared to hear some bad news, but took about an hour to get the checks done and they said no problems found with my AC other than cabin air filter was dirty (which i change that out myself, but it has been a while, so reasonable and i'll fix that, they didn't push to have them do it). My brakes still had enough life that he said just come back for a free check in around 6 months. I had a coupon for the flush so i managed to get it done including all taxes and fees for $120 out the door. It did take a while (was there for 3 hours total) but I saw they had a few other cars from the previous day they had to work on first. I'm just glad to get the work done without having them push for unnecessary work like most places do, and at a good price (the cheapest dealership service center in my area wanted $175 for it, and their customer service on the phones was far worse). read more

They told me to come right down and they could get me in. I brought the car in and sat in the lobby for 40 minutes before anyone said a word to me. After finally getting it in the shop they had no recollection of the price quotes over the phone and tried to charge me 25% more. I have been a customer for 10 years. I have Never had a problem with this location until the past few months. They usually charge me $54 for an oil change. The next time my girlfriend Took my truck in for an oil change and they charged her $80. I then called them and asked why the price jump and they said that they have increased their prices. So the next time I took my truck in which was last week they charged me $54. hmm weird. They then continued to tell me that I needed new rotors, brake pads and hardware and it was going cost me $1000. They said they had warned me that my brakes were going bad. I went back and looked at all the records from inspection reports and nothing was ever said or discussed about the brakes. I then took it for another opinion because I thought it was odd that all of a sudden out of nowhere all of the brakes and rotors were bad. The new company that I took it to told me I still had over half the life on the front rotors. The back left was metal to metal and the other rotors in the back can be machined and used again. All I needed was a new brake pads and one rotor machine on the back which in total costed less than $300. BEWARE of Brake Masters! The past few months they have have been DISHONEST and the customer service has been awful! Never will I step foot in the company again! read more
