I've been coming here for an oil change about 3-4 times in the last year. I had one coming up and to just save some money, I decided to have my partner get all the stuff and do it himself. As he was getting it done, he got to taking the filter off. It was super tight and hard to remove. He had to use tongue pliers. When it finally came off.... we discovered an OEM filter....? Shouldn't the filter look a lot more cleaner and less used? Last time I had this done was about 2-3 months ago. Clearly the multiple times I've gone, they didn't replace the filter as I was told. Nearly $100 dollars for an unfinished job that could have potentially hurt my car. This is absolutely unacceptable and a straight up scam. I imagine they tightened it up so it would be hard to get to it or they never even touched it. Save your money and go somewhere with honor. I was thinking of going here for my brakes but I'm glad I dodged that bullet. So disappointed. read more

We desperately needed our front axles and brakes replaced, so we called Brake Masters. They quoted us almost $450! We were going to bite the bullet, and headed over. By the time we got there (15 mins later) they said "Oh it's too late in the day and we don't even have the parts." Why did they even provide us with a quote and tell us to come over if they didn't even intend on completing the job?! My dad told me about this place, when I would get my oil change at the Oxnard Honda. Ever since my dad told me, I've been trying to get my oil change here. I think the one that I always see is the owner, I forgot his name, but he's pretty nice. I would go there a lot and I would only pay less than $20 - A LOT cheaper than going to the dealer ship or Wal-mart. I don't go here as much as before since I live far from Oxnard, but I recently got my oil change and paid like $23. i guess the price went up, but I'd still go here, it's still cheaper than any other place I know =) Tip: If you go on a Saturday, make sure you go right when they open, or else the wait would be at least an hr. read more

It's hard to find honest, reliable, service and hospitality in a business these days. I've been going to Brake Masters throughout the past few years by extension of my father who is a military vet, and can be a very persnickety type. I have gotten to know their staff, management and service representatives to be helpful, accommodating & genuinely there for their clientele. They are a busy location and I always make it a point to arrive as early as possible. Ray is the General manager of this location. He is personable and holds transparency and will always make it a point to clarify and work on solutions to any of your car questions and concerns. He is also seldom out of the shop. well I took my car on Friday it was misfireing and was there for four hours. I was told it was the spark plugs and coils. asked the mechanic told me it was tree spark plugs and coils. I then asked him so after you replace them no more misfire and he told me yes no more problems. after driving it for a mile the same thing. I called the next day and talked to the manager Mark and told him about it and he told me we refuse to service anyone. I told him he is a scammer. The only resaon I took it there because some one had told me talk to Johnny! no longer works there. do not take your car there a total rip off. over six hundred dollars he got me for. When I went into the shop the mechanic told me after the fact there was oil. if i had known that and they called me . I awould have said replace the valve over gasket. anyway that wasnt the problem. If they had read the codes they would have known it was the timing control solenoid! Do not take your car here! Mark is a total ripoff! So I took it to the one in Ventura Keith veryhones ead he code and fixed it runs great! believe the reviews! read more

Last Saturday I took my jeep to Brake Masters for a routine oil change. We always go there as they give great srrvice, and it is conveniently located in our neighborhood. When the manager, Ray, called to let me know that the change was completed, he informed me that the Belt Tensioner was cracked. He gave me the cost to fix it, and I thought it was reasonable and authorized him to go ahead and fix it. I was elated that they had found it because we were about to head to Lake Havasu. It would have been a major inconvenience if the tensioner had broken in the middle of the hot desert, and the cost would have tripled. Ray and his crew excel in customer service! read more

I really like these guys. Ramon always treats me well and takes the time to explain things to me. Recently I had an oil change, and had a new hub assembly and right control arm installed in my volvo. They also replaced my serpentine belt because it was cracking. It was late in the day when I brought the car for hub/control arm installation but Ramon managed to squeeze the job in! The mechanics are friendly and know their stuff. I trust them and their work. Several visits have shown that I get treated fairly and honestly there. So I went in there because my brakes are squeaking and I thought they needed to be changed. The price for them checking your brakes was 35$. When they check my brakes and found that I had a lot more brake pad left on my rotor and they didn't need to be changed he didn't charge me one red cent. Now that's good customer service and I will be back when my brakes need to be changed for sure. read more

I have only good things to say about this place!! Ray is the manager and that's who I dealt with, not only is he easy on the eyes , but he's all about customer service!! I have a 2016 Chevy equinox and I took it in because it was shaking when I hit the brakes. I brought it in on my lunch hour and I wasn't off by the time they closed. Ray let me pay over the phone and had my car ready and waiting when I was able to get to it. Once I picked it up I noticed the stereo was in "locked mode." Apparently it's an anti-theft component. I called my dealership and they said it would be $185 to unlock my radio. I called the store and Ray was upset at chevys lack of customer service. He told me to bring it back and he would see what he could do. Ray and the guys had it fixed in 15 minutes!!! Free of charge. I totally owe these guys lunch!! Whatever you do, do NOT bring your car here. They will rip you off. My daughter bought herself some nee brakes and rotors online and brought her car over to Brake Masters to install them. They said it was going to be $300!! $300 for just labor. They were trying to take advantage of an 18 yr old girl who didn't know any better. I used to love ths place, not any more. I went for a oil change and they told me that they need to change my belts. So I did oil change and the frkn belts. On my way home my car was making a weird sound but they told me that "that was normal" cz they just change my belt. Long story short they broke my power steering pump an they didn't tell me $&%*. Till the next day that I went. Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean that they can do that to me. I was so mad and disappointed, cz they let me go with that problem when they knew why they did. Take it in to a shop, the advise me that I had not had a oil change for a while. I simply state that I had just took it in. They let me know that they simply ripped me off. I was told about this place by another satisfied customer and found it to be five stars service. My truck was in bad shape and the engine shook like it was on its last road trip, but they ran tests, informed me of what needed to be done, the estimated cost and time required and they met every estimate and now my truck is back on the road and running great again. the service and price is fair except for their front desk customer service. I called around 9 in the morning on march 8, 2016 to get an estimate for front strut replacement. A guy named "Scott" answered the phone. He told me he was going to research about it and will call me back in 15 minutes.. After two hours of waiting, I called him back for the estimate, but again he said he's going to call me back in 10 minutes. I waited for another four hours, but still never got a call back. I was the one who had to call him back late in the afternoon, he finally said the estimate was $399. But when I verified it to the other guy the next morning, he said the estimate is around $500. I am not sure if Scott was deliberately pissing me off or he was trying to hide how clueless he is. read more

I have originally come there for an oil change. But they have checked my car as well and they have said that my breaks needs to be changed. In my head I was thinking its for my safety. So I let them changed my breaks. After a month and a half, while I was driving, I almost crash my car and the breaks was really bad that I could not stop without passing stop line. If there's a slow pedestrian, I may hit or kill them poor people. I went to a different shop to have my breaks checked. They said that my breaks was super bad. I have had my breaks changed not too long ago. And they said, "Ma'am, to be honest they did not replaced your breaks at all". I believe it because of the way my car act even after they said they replaced my break pads. I am a female and the guys that worked they are vultures. They have taken advantage of trusting customers like me.
