I took my car in for repairs - and it was estimated for multiple repairs. I spent several hundreds of Dolars for the first items that were repaired. I had an additional repair slated for a later date. II went to the dealership for a 2nd estimate on all the repairs. To my surprise, the dealership told me not one of those repairs needed to be done. I was very disappointed as I thought I was being quoted fairly and find out I was a fool. The initial repairs were several hundreds of dollars as well. Beware of this practice - I am a woman and I felt awful that a company would do this blatantly. On their website, there are several 5-star reviews. My guess that's just an advertising bait. My Daughter took her Chevy Cruz to Airport AutoTech of Oxnard for replacement of water hoses per recommendation from Jiffy Lube Oxnard. Airport AutoTech then charged her over $800 dollars for replacement of a water pump @ a cost of $382 for a 7 year old car. And labor cost of $498. Went in for an oil/air filter change. They were very quick, clear, & concise throughout the whole process. They sent me a link containing all of the pictures they took throughout the whole inspection process which was really nice. I appreciate their service because they were up front and not trying to "upsell" on things I knew weren't actually a problem. This auto shop is truly amazing. Took my car to the a different dealership for my jeep grand Cherokee because everyone else I called would not service me. The other dealership overcharged me for an inspection and didn't even find out why my car was making a ticking sound. To make a long story short it was a headache and took forever. I then happened to call airport auto tech and they were beyond expectation. They did my initial inspection figured out what was wrong and then after my permission completely fixed the problem so quickly and with a very low price. I would recommend them to anyone. They suck! They don't even deserve one star. I drive a 5 year old Toyota minivan. She had a little brake problem two years ago. My husband said that the brake pads were getting thin and took her to Airport Auto. They changed the front brake pads and it was all better. Then six months later, here came the same problem. Usually brake pads don't go bad that soon so we took the car back to the same shop. The Mr. know it all grumpy old man at a counter said to my husband "Your wife stepped on the brake too many times." and laughed. When my husband told me that, I wasn't happy but I couldn't say anything. I know I am not the greatest driver... I don't drive fast having kids in the back seat though. Anyway, they changed those front brake pads again. (Of course we had to pay for that.) Then another six months later, the same problem again! We couldn't stand the old guy anymore so we took the car to AAMCO this time. My husband explained what happened to the brake in last two years. We got a call from them after and were told they found out that the brake for back tires weren't working that was why the front brake pads worn so fast. Ohhhhh, Airport Auto didn't catch that, did they? Instead of blaming their bad job, the grumpy old man blamed on my way of driving. That was very professional. I know everybody makes mistakes. I understand that they just didn't see the problem. If the grumpy old man was professional and did their job without commenting about how I drive, I just could let that go. However he treated us like punks, I had to give them a bad review. By the way, AAMCO in Oxnard is awesome!!! Great customer service and very professional. I was recommended this place by AAA and figured that they would do the best they could to help me out considering they were trusted by AAA. I was having what i thought was transmission troubles and they agreed and after doing some testing told me that i was hiving computer problems as well. I drive a 2000 Honda Civic so the car is not worth much and the recommendation I was given was to give the car to the local junk yard. Instead I decided to take loom myself. After doing research with my limited knowledge, I was able to find the issue and repair it at a cost of $60 and about 20 minutes of my time. I almost gave away a perfectly good car on the tip of a "trusted" mechanic. Not sure if there was some personal gain to be had with this recommendation but I definitely do not trust this mechanic in any way. The Grumpy Ol' man gave me an honest deal. I had to get the timing belt on my Honda Pilot fixed and everywhere else quoted from $1000 to $1200, with water pump kit and coolant flush. Everywhere else from Ventura to Camarillo wanted to keep my car for two days, but Airport Auto Repair only charged me $750 and was done in half a day. If you want a person who wants to talk all day, call a friend -- if you want to get things done call Mike. By the way, they are AAA rated and their mechanics look and act like professionals. 1986 toyota celica needed an alternator. Quote comes back at $300...really? I called. ..and evidently the $70 alternator (this is the average price via almost everywhere) is $130 from this place and the parts and labor is $170....wow. It's my girlfriends car and I have a strong feeling that she got this price because she is a girl. It's a shame we had to give this place our business because this is way overpriced. I showed up for my appointment 20 min early without my wallet and asked if i could charge the service with my cc number...I was met by Dennis who told me not only could they not just take my cc info for payment (which is fine) but suggested I drive all the way back to Ojai to get the wallet because it was their lunch I was early and they like to take long lunches. Would caution anyone against going along with all the negative reviews. I went there about some grinding noises on my brakes. They offered me a free initial brake inspection and came back saying that there was no reason for me to have to change them! They even went above and beyond to take my car for a longer second test drive and cleaned/ground down my brakes...FOR FREE...after hearing the grinding noise during the longer drive. I was a long time customer of Air port auto repair now changed to airport auto tech. Mike the original owner was a grumpy old man but always fair. He would do an oil change and inspect my car no charge. Now the new owner a complete rip off changed the name to airport auto tech. I took it to the new owner for a a new alternator way higher then the dealer in which I was charged nine hundred dollars, dealers are usually much higher then the service centers. I was furious, and asked why so high and he told me the battery needed work and my hood latch which should have been included for no charge minor, oh and the battery which I had recently bought from the original owner was brand new. Worst place ever don't take your car there. I told them I had a check engine light on and that I tested with my diagnostic tool. The grumpy man at the counter said that doesn't mean shit. So, I had them check it out to see what they were going to say. After four hours I decided to give them a call to see if they had check my car. It was the same code that I had told them earlier when I took it to them. I asked how much for the part an labor? He said 334 for dollars and then I said how much is the part. Grumpy said $130, I asked why so much, I spoke to my mechanic and they told me $50. That's an $80 dollars difference. He said if you can get it the part cheaper then take it there. I told him I would be picking up my car and go to my mechanic. The worst part about this AAA recommended this place. I have a friend that works there and its time they know about this place. Waste of time, not professional, didn't even know how to work their smog equipment. Told me it would take 20 mins to do a simple smog test, ended up being more then an hour in their stuffy waiting room... What a joke, this place was recommended by AAA as a trusted shop in Oxnard. I had trouble with my car, had it towed there and spoke with Kyle, I explained to him I suspected a bad alternate in my car, they recharge my battery and tested the alternator which they said needed to be replace, so far so good. When he came back with the estimate he tells me it will be $645 because my battery is no good also. By this time I had already gone on the web to check prices for an alternator, the range was from $150-$230 I asked him why so much? He quoted me $440 for the alternator alone! I asked him what brand he was going to install, he replied from o'rileys I told him their price is $220 he said "I know" I asked him why are you marking it up so much? He gave me a deer in headlights look He wasn't expecting that I knew about cars, he was gonna work on my 2000 Toyota Avalon not my BMW, this wasn't a Denso alternator. After my questioning, he said let me see what I can do, comes back and says I can sell you the alternator at $340 I asked again why do you want to charge me so much again for a part that costs $220? His respond was "that is the lowest I can charge you" I took my car out of there, went to buy the alternator and install it my self, there was nothing wrong with my battery by the way, it just needed a charge, this is what I should have done since the beginning but I trusted AAA recommendation. This repair cost me $220 vs $645 if you don't know about cars and don't want to be taken advantage of, don't go to this shop I call this robbery, they don't even deserve 1 start but this system doesn't allow you to do that read more

I was told I can trust these guys but I am weary of new mechanics. It is like picking a Health Doctor. These good people gave me a fair price and did good work. Mike does not beat around the bush. Mike seemed like a straight to the point, kind of guy. They got the job done right away. Owner Mike is direct and honest and got us out of there quick after we were towed with a mystery electrical issue that shut our honda accord down on our way back to LA from Santa Barbara. They even gave us their wifi password so we could do some work on our laptops when we waited. Ended up being the ignition switch and as soon as they diagnosed they got the part and sent us on our way. He also sat down with us and recommended we do a couple of other things on our car within a few thousand miles and told us what we should expect to pay down in LA. received flyer for $44 oil change. flyer stated complimentary tire rotation and complimentary ride or loaner car. tire rotation was not done and when i asked for ride, Matt, told me it was not available. i looked at my statement and saw i was given a synthetic blend of oil. i have always been full synthetic. Matt told me that the special $44 was only for synthetic blend oil. no upfront explanation before work was done. they added two other services that i okayed but now those services are suspect. I will have to take my car to another mechanic i have to check the service done at airport auto tech. they are just another group of wiseguys taking money from out pockets. especially hurtful during these hard times. read more

The bright side is they do outstanding work and charge a very fair price. I've brought my car their a couple times when all it needed was a little adjustment and he didn't charge me a thing. I've had brakes done, a smog check, a fuel filter, belts, and oil changes done here and all the work has been top notch. The cost for all of that is a fraction of what the stealership charges. One time I went in there for an oil change and told him I needed my brake fluid flushed because the dealership told me I needed it. (over $100 service at the dealership). He checked the brake fluid and said it looked almost brand new and I didn't need the flush. He could have just done the work anyway and made some money off me but through his grumpy exterior there is a guy in there who likes helping his customers. So just suck up the insults and the grumpy attitude and get your car fixed right. read more
