The crew that removed our very old, dying, very large oak was outstanding! They arrived on time. Assessed the situation and got to work. The tree was hard to access in our back yard behind the house. As another review stated "they worked like a well oiled machine". It's amazing that the crew of 4 was able to take down the tree in a day as Al said they would when he gave us the estimate. They removed the small branches and cut the rest of the tree into logs as we requested. We highly recommend BP Tree and will use them again. read more

My neighbors hired this company to remove 3 redwood trees from their property. I've never dealt with a more unprofessional company in my life. To start, they let themselves into my backyard without asking permission and continued to use my property throughout the process. While they were cutting down one of the trees, a large branch fell onto our shared fence and took out about an 8 foot section. Fixing the fence should have been the priority, but it was not. We kept asking when the fence would be repaired and they told us over and over that someone was getting supplies to fix the fence. When I finally confronted them about it, one of their workers got in my face and told me had worked hard all day and wasn't about to fix the fence that night. We even called the owner of the company, and he never returned our phone call. When they finally did repair the fence on the 3rd day, they didn't repair it correctly. Instead of setting a new concrete post, they set a wood post that will likely rot in 6 months. In addition to all of this, my neighbor told this contractor to cut all of my trees back to the fence line. I've never seen men hack trees so poorly - they didn't trim them with care or with any concern to the tree. My trees are now misshapen and other branches have already fallen off due to the way they were cut. The trees will likely die. I would never hire this company to cut down trees or do any trimming of trees you have. As I said, they were completely rude and unprofessional throughout the entire process. read more

Received a postcard in the mail offering a 20% discount. Called to make appointment for stump grinding 3 stumps. Service made appointment for 7:00 pm on Thursday. Received call that morning to cancel appointment. Did not offer to reschedule they tried to offer that I call another contractor that they use. I guess my job was not worth coming out. They just lost a customer and a decent amount of money. Do not use this contractor. Lazy and useless. Actually should have given 0 stars if I could have. read more

To anyone who is considering hiring BP Tree Services, formerly know as Pyatt Tree Services, read ALL the reviews first. 5 of the 6 "not recommended" reviews are spot on, in addition to the "recommended" reviews. He does not have liability insurance. This is a very big deal when hiring a tree service! For those of you who have been ripped off by Bill Pyatt, I suggest filing a complaint with the Contractor's licensing bureau. https://www2.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/LicenseDetail.aspx?LicNum=831766 He's obviously lied to the contractor's board about "having no employees" in order to get out of paying for worker's comp. "This license is exempt from having workers compensation insurance; they certified that they have no employees at this time." Their worker's comp license was cancelled for non-payment in 2009. Their liability insurance is active for now, but going over the history of how many times it's been cancelled (again for non-payment) is mind boggling. https://www2.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/ContractorBondingHistory.aspx?LicNum=831766&BondType=CB Avoid this company at all costs. read more

Not happy with these guys at all, I wished I had checked around first, based on the other reviews I would have gone elsewhere. Our soccer club had to pay for their work via the school district, a $10,000 ripoff to remove a couple of trees and some dirt. The 5 trees were pretty small, they were already dead, less than a pickup full of dirt; all in all a pretty easy job. However, it seemed once they found out they were dealing with a school district and a youth soccer club they just charged the maximum they could. I would stay far away from these guys and look for a more reputable organization. read more

Overpriced estimate for pollarding a tree in our front yard...$640 estimate...I didn't tell them the other tree I had removed and stump ground for $325... And I saw the pathetic stump grinding they did at a job on Mission Ave and Berytis, they left there sign in the front yard...After the home owner removed all the wood chips, there was so much stump and roots left,I can't believe they put their name on it... Definitely would not consider them ... Ever ! I saw their work before the estimate, and knew they were not gunna do the best job,but went ahead and waited for the estimate, $640 for trim and removal? Get real ! I think I'll go by the house on Mission and photo their work, even know the home owner removed the sign,( I'm sure after he saw the crappy job), but it could be useful for anyone considering using this company... read more

signed up for free wood chip service, beware they did not call as the webpage states this is there own language(clip below taken from own bp tree service webpage). **when chips are available in your neighborhood, a representative will contact you (usually the day before) to confirm delivery. please remember to leave sufficient contact information. we must obtain verbal approval prior to making a delivery. if we cannot contact you, we will deliver to the next person on the list. ** what was delivered was items that belonged in the city dump. they left concrete, brick, rocks, along with the wood chips. my yard and driveway is not a dump, if i would have know they would do this in such a manner i would have never signed up for this free service. getting them to come out an pick it up in a timely manner is proving frustrating. they will not call me back to address the issue. i think i will need to hire a 3rd party to haul the debris away and send them the bill or take them to small claims. this is a contract and no call and leaving concrete, brick's from another person"s home is plain wrong. beware yelpers of the free wood chip's..... read more

When the work crew arrived, we observed two of them looking through our windows. We have a big picture window and one of the workers was spotted looking in the window. We called the company and said we did not want this crew and felt uncomfortable with strangers looking inside our house. We called the company and Paula answered by saying she did not think it happened because she has "known them for a long time." They did not offer to come out with a different crew or to have this crew supervised. No apology either. We will not be using them again. read more

We needed some tall trees trimmed 25' above ground, to reduce the chance of limbs falling onto our flat roof. The work, supervised by Ernesto, was beautifully, artfully, carefully done. We are thrilled and recommend this company. read more

Just had BP out this week to cut down and stump grind 6 trees. I am very pleased with the service I received from Billy and his crew. They were professional and left my yard and all areas they worked very clean before they left. read more

I would never use their services again! For whatever reason, this company has a problem returning phone calls and tries to avoid resolving problems. With companies offering like services, I would definitely go elsewhere the next time I need tree services. Other red flags about this company: -Number of complaints posted here and elsewhere -Number of times insurance was cancelled (see link) https://www2.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/ContractorBondingHistory.aspx?LicNum=831766&BondType=CB -Filed as "exempt from having employees" and in response to another Yelper's review, said that it was a mistake which has been corrected. Note: This statement is coming from a company that has been in business for 46 years. By now, they should know how to file with the Contractor's State License Board. -Number of times they had issues dumping wood chips. Note: Company states this happened due to an employee drinking on the job. Accountability starts at the top and the owner is placing the blame onto an employee. Besides, if a company can't adequately screen employees, what does that say about the company itself? read more

I would give them 0 stars if this site allowed it but it doesn't. I had a pricing issue which the owner never attempted to resolve. Instead, he ignored my phone calls and voice mail messages until I grew tired of trying to contact him. I even filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and all he did was attack me personally in his response back to the BBB. In my opinion, the company is most unprofessional. read more

Do not request wood chips from this company. They do not call you even one minute before and give you a heads up. The load also is half leaves and fir needles and branches so no one else will want it if you don't. I came home to find my driveway with a full load and no notice at all and I had already mulched my whole yard!!! read more

We are very pleased with the professional work of BP Tree Services! The plants, flower beds and lawn look tidier than when they arrived. BP took such great care taking down an extremely tall redwood tree and pruning a mature red maple tree. The red maple is over 60 years old and they pruned it with care. - it looks healthy an is shaped naturally. We absolutely recommend BP Tree Services and we will use them again in the future. read more

We had 2 crews out here today. We were very impressed with all the guys working, and especially happy with all the work they did. The clean up was amazing, and everything we wanted trimmed/cut was taken care of. We would highly recommend BP Tree Services and Edwin and his crews, and will definitely use them again in the future. read more

Billy did the estimate. He was professional and offered a great price. I had to have 3 trees removed, and 3 other trees trimmed. The office staff was so helpful and I got scheduled right away. The team that showed up was so fast, professional, and did a great job. They didn't over trim my trees and they look beautiful. They cleaned all the work areas. It looks great and I couldn't be more pleased. I would recommend them to everyone!!! read more

Once again BP helped rid my yard of a dead tree. Different crew than before but just as efficient and hard-working. Thanks to everyone at BP that helped get this scheduled and done! read more

Hands down the best tree service company in Sacramento. I had them come out to my property for a day (they charged the day rate) and they did a fantastic job! Best prices I could find in the area. Thanks guys! read more

We had such a great experience with BP Tree Service. Billy came out right away to give us an estimate and we immediately scheduled service because of his professionalism, expertise, and fair price. The team that came out to cut down the trees were friendly, efficient, and very skilled at what they were doing. They did a great job separating the wood from the leaves and left us a nice pile of wood chips. I highly recommend this company! read more

BP did a great job trimming back a 60-year-old tree in our front yard that was really overgrown. They also took out some privetes and ground up a really large stump.. We got quotes from three tree pruning services and BP was at least 50% less expensive. Have to admit, I was a little concerned as to why they were so much less expensive but nonetheless they did a great job. From what I understand they own their equipment where as other tree services have to rent it and that is why they are less expensive. We will use BP tree services in the future. read more

Hired them to cut several oak trees on my property. They gave me a good price and their work was great. They cleaned everything up before they left. I'd recommend them to anyone. They came out for a free quote and consultation on a holiday (Memorial Day)and arrived on time to do the work on the day i scheduled. read more

Very happy with response times, service and communication. We ran into a few issues with stumps growing over large rocks. They were willing to make sure to get the job done to our satisfaction, at no additional charge. The prices seemed reasonable as well. We have some more areas we would like them to handle in the future. read more

I had the most frustrating experience with BP Tree Services. They were late for all scheduled appointments, sometimes not even showing up that day. They removed a large Redwood tree and replaced it with another large tree. I have been attempting to contact them for a month regarding care instructions for the new tree, with no response. The work that they did was good, but it was not worth the aggravation. read more

For anyone needing tree services in Sacramento, I would highly recommend these guys. Ive never really been in need of this kind of service before so I really didn't know what to expect as far as how long a large project would take or the costs involved. I definitely felt at ease after talking with them. I had probably about 15 fallen trees that needed to be removed from my property that we moved into, and another 10 that needed some trimming and pruning, becuase they were encroaching on a neighbors property line. They did a great job removing all the fallen trees, and they even hauled off all the sawdust or wood chips whatever you call it from grinding up the trees, so there wasn't at huge mess when they finished. Overall they did a great job. Would use them again for sure. read more

We've used several tree services over the years, and BP Tree Services was by far the best. First, the arborist gave us a knowledgeable assessment of our tree's condition (it was dying, which is what we thought). Then the six-person team came to take out our (huge) Silver Maple. This was a big job. The guys worked extremely hard, did an exceptionally good clean-up job, saved us some stump pieces we wanted (and moved them for us). They communicated well and regularly. Real professionals. We'll use them again. read more

Our two 40 year old, non-native oak trees that had never been professionally maintained were recently trimmed by BP Tree Services. They arrived when expected, were here all day, removed all the debris and used a blower to get rid of all the small twigs and leaves. The estimate was detailed and price was competitive and reasonable. The trees now look awesome and we are very pleased with the work they performed. We will definitely use them again for ongoing maintenance. read more

This is my second time using this company for a few trees that I need removed, and all I can say is that I'm not disappointed. I did some shopping around before I decided to call BP, and they gave me a pretty fair price. No hassle type service, they came out and got the job done pretty quickly......I wouldn't call them an over the top customer service company, so I stuck with 4 stars. They're dependable which is why I went with them again. read more

I called BP Tree Services to take care of a severely overgrown tree in our backyard that reached from our roof to the neighbors roof and double the height we felt was safe. The owner (Billy) came out for the free estimate and was very informative and made suggestions on what to do. I was so impressed with his professionalism and knowledge I added 3 front trees to the scope of work. Access to the big tree in the back was limited so lifts and cranes were not an option. BP's crew climbed the tree and meticulously worked on the chunking of piece by piece and lowering them down to the ground slowly and cautiously where their ground crew promptly moved them to the front near their shredder. The were even courteous about the shredder noise and waited until the trimming was done and ran it all at once instead of running it a little all day. The cleanup was FANTASTIC. They exceeded my expectations - the cleanup left the yard cleaner and better than when they arrived. I appreciate their attention to detail and respect of property. They did an amazing job under difficult circumstances. I would trust them with ANY size or scope of work!!! Well Done BP crew. read more

Please note they have done no work for me, but they took a tree down next door to me. My husband and I were quite impressed that they knocked on our door and explained they'd be taking down a huge tree on our property line, and then they came over and cleaned up the saw dust and branches that had fallen in our yard. They even locked our gate and let us know they were done when they left. We plan on using them when we need tree work done in the future because of their level of communication and professionalism. Plus they did a very neat and thorough job. read more

DON'T sign up for free wood chips! Once your name is on their list they feel free to randomly dump any and all of the trash they remove from a clients property without contacting you and they will not pick it back up! I went to get my newspaper at 7am from the driveway and it was completely covered with wood chips and cement chunks with various garbage and I hadn't asked for it. When I called them they said they would pick it up but didn't. After a week they refused to return my call and then just hung up on me. It cost $400 to remove and I'll work at getting them to pay me back but I would never trust them with any work any where near my property! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I had to make FOUR phone calls to get an appointment. Each operator at their calling service offered me a same day call back. On the fourth day I was able to get in touch with someone at the actual company who booked me an appointment for 5:45pm. I took time off work for the appointment, and then watched as 5:45pm became 6:30pm. I sent a text to the person who booked my appointment asking if we had been forgotten? She sent me a text about 15minutes later stating she is "unable to reach him (Bill) on his cell at the moment", and offered to book me another day? Are you kidding me lady?!.. No Way! By the looks of similar reviews, and how they treat NEW customers, it really is a wonder this company is able to stay in business. read more

Wow! I am so impressed with BP Tree Services. We had a huge, scary three trunk tree that hung over three yards that we knew had to come out. We had gotten estimates that were way over our budget. BP Tree Services gave us a reasonable estimate. The crew showed up right on time. Very professional, worked great as a team, were very safety conscious, and respectful of our and our neighbors' property. They even took down a strand of Christmas lights to make sure they did not damage them while taking branches out front. A neighbor from up the street wanted the wood for his fireplace and they helped him load his truck, time after time. Totally cleaned up before they left. We'll be using them again to trim our silver maples. read more

We hired BP to trim trees. They broke our neighbor's entrance lamp, agreed to pay, then refused to even return phone calls to their office, to Billy Pyatt, and to their "answering service". I'm out the $470.26 I had to reimburse my neighbor. read more

We had two very large cottonwood trees - at least 50 feet tall that were up against the deck of the house that were dead and needed to be removed. Bill was quick on the follow up for a request for a quote, and most importantly had the right equipment to deal with such large trees.Bill and his crew was professional, and they got the job done and cleaned up on schedule. In addition to the excellent service, Bill is very knowledgeable about trees, and caring for them he had several good suggestions for some of the other trees on the property. read more

I needed two trees removed and one significantly cut back in my front and back yard. After having a very professional and reasonable estimate from the owner Billy Pyatt, I decided to hire the BP team to do the work. The team, Travis, Raoul and Danto arrived right on time and started working right away. The team was not only very professional, but also were very upbeat, positive and worked fantastic together. My biggest concern was the grinding of a big stump right next (about 3 yards) to my pool. I was very worried that all the debris would land in the pool, contaminate and stain the pool and therefore I would have to spend a lot of money to clean the pool after the stump removal work was done. But the team protected the pool by holding up a plywood wall, while Travis removed the stump. Nothing, really nothing landed in the pool and the stump was gone after 15 minutes. The team cleaned up after all the work, front and back yard and everything looks great. Great job and THANK YOU TEAM!!!!! I will rehire BP Tree service again and recommend this company very highly read more

I have mixed feelings about this service. We had a large job clearing about 1/4 acre lot behind our house with difficult access. The quote was reasonable, professional and prompt (printed on the spot). After a 1 day delay for BP Tree to remove a tree that had fallen into someone elses house (insurance jobs get priority), the first day of work on our job went reasonably well though there were a few hiccups. The guys worked hard and got a lot done. The second day , only two-thirds of the promised crew showed up, with the boss not arriving until late in the day. He explained they couldnt finish the job that day nor the way they had initially said it could be done. A neighbor kindly allowed us to use their lot for access which made the remaining work significantly easier. Billy promised to come back the next day and complete the job with no additional charge. He didnt show up until 5 hours after we expected him, with no call, email or indication they were delaying their work. They worked until late in the night, but still hadnt finished the work. The next day I finally got an email explanation of some of the challenges and causes of the hiccups and delays on our job, which are to be expected in a large and difficult project. After discussing the issues we had, Billy agreed to finish the remaining 5% or so of the work the next weekend, without additional costs as he said he wanted to complete the job and leave the customers satisfied. We paid the bill and shook on the agreement for him to return and finish. Billy never came back to finish the work and never responded to phone and email inquiries, and we are left with several cubic yards of slash in the lot to deal with. Overall, the crews work hard and do decent work when they are actually there, but the communication and follow through is significantly lacking making our general experience pretty disappointing and frustrating. BP Tree will not be working for us again, and likely not in our neighborhood either. read more
