African food is tasty, healthy and colorful. I passed shelves filled with red palm oil, Yellow African curry, bright green banana leaves, orange citrus jerk seasoning and amber peppers. (What a wonderful world) The southwest part of the market is the refrigerated section filled with frozen and fresh hand cut meats, and smoked, dried and cured fish. Here, I asked for help from one of the wonderful family members who work at the market and ended up with ingredients for curry goat stew, African greens and more. She told me about Africa's version of tamales, also called corn koki, which is available in family-sized portions in the refrigerator. I told her about humitas which are very similar. Steamed corn cakes are popular around the world. Like many dishes and things that connect us from far away places, this market is a gold mine for my mortar and pestle friends around the world. After getting a generous lesson about African food, I learned the owner of this market also owns an African restaurant in the area. It sounds great and I can't wait to try it! I headed home with my treasure and turned to the ultimate source for African cooking advice: YouTube. Rolls up sleeves. After watching market trips in Ghana, coastal cooking in Jamaica, fu-fu recipes made the hard way (pounding plantains and starch with a stick for hours) and a goat recipe which required a village to prepare, I'm ready to try cooking my first African meal. I have a long way to go before I know what I'm doing but so far, learning is part of the fun. After enjoying the meals I prepared with my market treasure, I noticed an overall improvement in my health. Miracles happen in mysterious ways indeed! African curry powder was always my favorite. Can it cure cancer?! Ingredients list before: tumeric, coriander, cumin, allspice, black pepper, garlic, fenugreek, cloves, ground red hot pepper. African curry powder is the most nutritious seasoning I've ever seen! Many of my purchases had unexpectedly good health benefits and high nutritional value. Don't you love it when you heal an ailment, learn a lesson get a great bargain and find a new favorite? Me too! I found this market after making a U-turn to avoid an unhealthy "donut". My new job started March 2020 starting of COVID. My Real estate Management company gave me a $200.00 Express gift card. Due to COVID I had to go online to place an order. I ordered 4 Blouses and 3 pair of pants. Great deal and was excited. When the clothes arrived, 3 pair of pants and 1 blouse did not fit. I was told I was not able to return anything at that time due to COVID. I am over 60yrs old and have been in lock down for this entire time of COVID. I finely ventured out and went into Express into do a simple exchange. Maria, the manager, told me she could not exchange the clothes as the time period has passed and the store has been open for some time I could have returned the clothes earlier. REALLY??? How do I know when the store opened??? They did not send a memo. Maria stated she could Honor 1 item exchange, but not all 4 items. WHY?? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE 1 or all 4? Express already has the money from the purchased gift card. Now I have clothes I cannot wear!! I have advised my company of the situation and advise them NOT to purchase a gift cards again from Express They should go with Macy's or Nordstroms, Where the customer service and return policy is with reason.

She found a beautiful formal dress but needed a specific size. Bryant went above and beyond, locating three stores that had the size needed. One of those store being in Burbank. Bryant worked with his management team to confirm the dress was available and placed on hold for us. My mother in law was able to drive to Burbank same day and pick up the dress. Specifically the one in the middle approached me several times in the store asking me if I needed help after I had already indicated that I did not. She continued to follow me throughout the store and asked me if I needed any assistance. I then began to ignore her purposely because I had already indicated several times that I did not need help and I did not want to be bothered. She then sent the young lady with the glasses on to ask me the same question as well as other employees within the store. I was stalked and harassed in each department that I went to in this location. It is unfortunate that these kind of people stereotype and harass specific customers. It went as far as them only asking me when I had other customers standing next to me whom they did not bother. I took this photo as I left because once I looked over the young lady with the glasses was explaining how I had also turned her away to the woman in the center. It's disgusting, disturbing, and dangerous that these kind of people harass people that they do not know and do not take heed to the warning leave me alone. Truly barbaric. I purchased my selected items with a gentleman in the Sephora store. Who was kind and professional. The other people employed there dog piled on me and followed me. I felt unsafe and afraid of their degrading behavior.
