    Ceiling mold
    Kathleen R.

I honestly don't know where to begin with how horrible my stay at the Boxboro Regency Hotel was. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. To start, the room was an absolute disaster. The moment I walked in, I was assaulted by a strong, musty smell that made it impossible to breathe. Upon further inspection, I noticed black mold on the walls and ceiling--disgusting. It's beyond me how any hotel could let this level of filth slide, and yet here we are. The bathroom was filthy, with rust stains all over the shower fixtures and the grout looking like it hadn't been cleaned in months. A friend of mine was staying in another room and the sink tap came off in her hand. And then, the air conditioning. It didn't work at all. The room was sweltering, and after hours of being uncomfortable, I reached out to the staff to fix the issue. They were completely dismissive and refused to send anyone to address the problem, telling me there was nothing they could do because they didn't turn the air conditioning on until the "warm months". So, I had to spend the entire night in a hot, sticky room--another reason this place is a complete failure. The pool looked nice enough, the water was clear but it was COLD. Heated pool my aunt fanny. There was also rust all over the railing and tiles. It looked like it hadn't been maintained in a while. When I tried to bring up my concerns to the staff, they were nice enough but completely unhelpful. No apologies, no solutions. This hotel is an absolute disgrace. Between the mold, broken air conditioning, filthy bathroom, peeling wallpaper and sopping wet carpets in the hallways, there's not much good to say about this place. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. I will NEVER be returning to the Boxboro Regency, and I strongly recommend you avoid it as well.

I spent two nights at your hotel in Boxborough over the holiday weekend, and I have to say that I was appalled! The facilities are dirty and in need of great repair. Yet, your prices are that of other facilities of much better quality. In addition to being dirty and in need of great repair, there were not the most basic services available, like housekeeping. Who would ever expect there to be no housekeeping! The room was not equipped with a coffee maker or microwave, which it should since there is nothing around except Dunkin Donuts across the street at the Mobile station. I could not even get ice. Is this facility being used to house migrants? If so, then you should not be letting rooms to the general public in this condition. I was given room 144 just across from the pool. A pool that I would not have put my foot into, yet people were using it at all hours. I did not see quiet hours posted. Some of the exterior doors did not work, and I found two that were propped open. Not very good for safety I must say. I did not select this location. And I wish I had not trusted those who selected it. I would have found another place to stay even if it meant more driving. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with my stay and concerned for my safety.

I've been hosting an event at the Boxborough Regency in Massachusetts with my group, the East Coast Vintage Vixens, for the past two years, and we're currently planning our third! Every experience has been fantastic--the staff is helpful and welcoming, the space is perfect for our needs, and everything always runs smoothly. It's become something we truly look forward to every year. Highly recommend for anyone planning an event!

this is the most disgusting hotel I have stayed at. Filthy! no service, no waitresses, no working ice machines. no towels, wash clothes or anything. photos of the suite.

The staff could not have tried harder or been more accommodating but they are making the best of fighting a disastrous situation. The hotel is in worse condition than any of the previous reviews can say. We were here for a convention but as it continues an inevitable trip down the drain we will stay off property next time.

Despite it looking rough on the outside, I thought after seeing the entrance and "court yard" that the rooms would be nice as well. I WAS WRONG!!!! When our family first arrived we got checked in and went to our FIRST room(It smelt of old cheese, feet, and bologna.) Of course after hours of traveling, I needed to use the restroom. Upon entering the restroom I immediately notice BLACK MOLD along the ceiling!! I looked all around the rest of the bathroom and there was black mold not only along the ceiling, but around the sink area and even patches of it growing underneath the sink! The vent fan was covered in dust as if no one had cleaned it in months! I also squished two spiders and an earwig in this bathroom. I told my husband to go down to the front desk and tell them immediately!! They swapped our rooms. We go to our SECOND room and I'm looking around at things(I ALWAYS CHECK FOR BED BUGS ANYWHERE I GO!) and what do I spot? BED BUGS!!!!!! I tell my husband again to go tell them about these problems, they apologize for the inconvenience, give my husband a complementary breakfast, and swapped our room again.(The hotel staff later went on to say that our "claim" about the bed bugs had to be false because they said they did not see any bed bugs. 'I have pictures though.') We were moved to one of the "presidential suites." We walk in, I start checking for bed bugs, no bugs. But I hear something. I follow the sound to the CLOSET! What am I hearing? Now feeling and smelling?? A LEAK!! A bad leak that not only SOAKED the carpet in the closet but about three feet outside of the closet to the bed side! This wasn't a small leak either! Once you stepped anywhere near the closet, the side of your shoes were soaked!! There was not a wall outlet of that side of the bed where the leak was behind the nightstand. There was however an extension cord, ON THE FLOOR! Now I'm no electrician, but water and electricity don't mix. This rooms bathroom, FILLED WITH BLACK MOLD TOO!!!!! Oh and if you or a family member that is handicapped and need to use the pools chair to get in and out of the pool, DO NOT USE IT! IT IS NOT SECURE! THE BASE IS NOT SECURED TO THE GROUND!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! P.S. I WILL BE ADDING PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF THIS HOTEL ONCE I FIGURE OUT HOW TO!!!!

I checked in at 5:00 and checked out 40 min later. The driveway full of deer was about the only thing amazing about this property. It's extremely tired looking. It has not been updated since 1981. it really needs to be brought to pasture. I've stayed in many hotels and this one is one of the nastiest I have ever seen. I booked two nights and walked away with no refund. I'd rather sleep in my chicken coop in my backyard with the rats.

    Friendly Crossways

I recently attended a wedding at the Friendly Crossways and although I had a great weekend with…read morefamily and friends, I think my perspective is different than most of the previous reviewers. As others mentioned there were no other options close by in the Harvard area to stay, so we decided to stay on site (even though I tried to find alternative arrangements). We arrived on Friday and found our room, which had only twin beds (the same for almost all rooms) but were yet to receive our linens (sheets/towels/pillow cases). We did get those later and as another reviewer mentioned they were very worn. You could also not bring in your own pillows or linens (as I had brought) and the party would be fined if they saw you doing so. The bathroom/showers which I saw were pretty outdated and dingy (except the ones near the front door which appear to be newer). They weren't unclean, but were just in desperate need of some TLC. We were also informed of a strict 5 minute shower policy which there are signs posted for in the bathroom. As most have said, it is very much a DIY venue, even so far as to washing your own dishes throughout the weekend. We did help out with a lot throughout the weekend which was fun helping our friends set up their wedding and be a part of it, but many times we would need to ask Mary or Keith (the owners of the property) for assistance or direction with a given task. Most of the time they were very friendly and helpful, but not all the time. I certainly understand they have a job to do, and tasks the Bride/Groom set up for them, and that helping me wasn't on their priority list, but at least be a little bit pleasant because we are paying you to be there. I would have to agree that the food they provided was excellent, and they were able to meet the needs of many dietary issues in our group. If I was reviewing only their food it would be 5 stars, no question. They used fresh ingredients and were very passionate about what came out of the kitchen. The other issue was the firewood. We were lectured that it was to be a "camp fire" and not a "bonfire". We were only provided with about 6 tiny pieces of wood to keep the fire going for our allotted 2 hours...and NO wood was to be put on after 11pm as the fire had to be completely out by midnight... It was nice to be able to just walk back to my room after the wedding/reception. The ceremony was beautiful set back under the trees on the lawn. If you are looking for a DIY wedding where you have to do just about everything for set up and break down then this is probably your place.

I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to have a stunning outdoor venue with great food and people around you!

Heck, maybe you can arrive in style, being rowed in on a boat! For the budget bride who likes something a little different, this place is a find. I confess, I never got to visit this place since I ended up finding my wedding site at First Parish Church United in Westford, MA, but I obsessed about this place for a long time. The outdoor wedding, the wedding pictures on a lighted deck...you should definitely consider this place if you're very strict on budget (at the time it was $500 for the whole day) but still want to have a beautiful wedding for 100 people or less.

I…read moreread Ross's review so I knew I was going to be dealing with slow communication and I was okay with that: I'm planning a wedding for 2018 or 2019 (1-2 years from now). No biggie. Replies were slow, and the person I was in contact with wasn't very open. I first contacted (I'll call him "Kal") at the end of March. He said he could only show the place on Sundays. My fiance works Sundays and can not get that day off... but after a few e-mails we decided that Sunday at 1 would be fine. We now needed to pick a Sunday. We picked one, which turned out to be Easter day (we could make it but Kal couldn't: totally understandable) but we kept going back and forth saying "that Sunday won't work for me" or "I can't do that Sunday", etc... Fine. I get it. People can be busy and we have a lot of time to plan this thing out: no hurry, no worries. Then one day I get an e-mail from Kal: "Unfortunately I am not available any of the dates that you have listed. we have reached our quota of rentals for this year, so rentals are closed for 2017. As a result I am not scheduling special appointments to show the lodge. I know you are looking for next year. We will not be reserving any dates or booking events for next year until January of 2018." Now, I don't know about you guys, but to me, that means "screw you, we already have made enough money with booking so we're not going to put in the effort to even show you the place." My fiance and I just wanted to see the place: that's all. Not have any booking or anything, just SEE IT. I sent an e-mail back (on April 11th) explaining that to Kal, but now it's May 6th and still no reply from Kal. As far as I know, this place just wants your money and that's it. My advise to anyone thinking about going to this place is... just don't bother. It was a waste of my time and it might be a waste of yours. (I am going to link Kal this review: maybe their customer service will be better from here on out) Good luck.

If you're considering an event here, book it now and you won't be disappointed. First off, the property is stunning. The house has beautiful rooms to get ready in with great light; the facade of the house makes for beautiful photos; the barn is iconic and warm; the gardens were stunning in full bloom; there are fences and paths through the woods galore. We had our ceremony at the top of a hill overlooking a scenic New England field and pond. The reception was in a beautiful field under a big tree for shade. And for those worried about unsteady grandparents, there were easy ways to help them get around. Everything was beautiful, a real classic New England farm. Then, the decorations! Every small detail was perfect. All of the flowers were fresh from Wendy's garden and the arrangements were PERFECT. The signage and table settings were gorgeous and involved freshly stripped bark with calligraphied names of all of our guests. There were blankets on the back of all of the chairs for when it got chillier at night! Seriously, Wendy thought of everything. And last, but certainly not least, Wendy! You couldn't ask for a better planner, friend, and kind soul. She has been a wedding planner for decades and now she and her husband run the Phineas Wright House. I didn't stress once on the day of the wedding because I knew Wendy had it all under control. From the moment my husband and I started planning the wedding, she was alongside us supporting and cheering us on. I would often say "I'm so grateful for Wendy!" We had started our wedding planning with Wendy when we were going to have a 100 person wedding elsewhere, and by the end we had a 12 person, socially distanced wedding at her home, and honestly it was absolutely perfect.
