We needed reasonably priced accommodations for one night to attend my son's golf tournament early the following morning. I booked a room, then read the reviews. I wished I had read them first and since cancellation would have required full payment, we went and hoped for the best. At check in the didn't have our reservation. The front desk manager, Tina, I believe, could not have been more pleasant or apologetic. She was friendly, personable and worked quickly to get our reservation straightened out. In a few minutes she had us all checked in. The room was completely fine. Honestly, it was clean, it didn't smell and the beds were comfortable. We went for a swim in the pool and it was fantastic. I hate cold water, I hate it! This wasn't cold, not even close. My son and I played in the pool for an hour, it was very refreshing. I would definitely stay here again. I seriously wonder who these people are and what their expectations may be when you stay at a hotel for $135/night? Basic and clean is all I needed and they delivered and more. Nice place. read more

Spent a night here for a dance competition. Not sure how this hotel stays open. Booked rooms in August with a 24 hour cancellation policy. When trying to cancel one night was told it was part of a two night minimum. Never disclosed on any of the paperwork or confirmation emails. Front desk staff was extremely rude about it. But then finally let me cancel a night. On arrival when walking to the room noticed hallways in disrepair with holes in walls, paint and wall coverings falling off renovation areas that seem to have been that way for quite some time. Stains on walls and carpets. On arrival to room it was freezing the air was one and it was 62 in the room. Bathroom door broken as well as it didn't lock. Musty smell in the room. Upon arrival checked the bed to make sure there were no bedbugs based on the general upkeep of the common areas. Didn't see any. Pulled back top corner to get into bed and realize there was a full spiderweb and large spider that had been in residence for quite some time. When I called the front desk they told me there were no other rooms to move too. Nor anybody to clean the room. It was obvious this room had not been occupied in quite some time nor cleaned. Finally able to relocate us at 11 o'clock at night. Made for a poor sleeping night for our group because we weren't sure that we were not gonna find other spiders, bugs or other animals in the new room. New room still had a musty smell. Walls painted over mold. Toilet was not connected to the floor. Tiles were falling off the wall under the sink. Mirror was disintegrating. Spoke to the front desk in the morning we're not even apologetic for the inconvenience. I was told all the rooms in the hotel had been thoroughly cleaned before the weekend. When I showed her the pictures she stated oh my. While this place may have been nice when constructed it is obvious they have not kept up with general maintenance or renovations. In reviewing previous reviews, after the fact, I found pictures of areas that were under maintenance 11 months ago that are still in the same exact state. Icemaker that doesn't work , areas partitioned off for Reno , industrial washers in the hallway, dumpster dollies full of bleach and trash in the halls and rooms that seemed to have paper on the sliders. First room had two refrigerators and a coffee maker second room had one fridge no coffee maker. I would've never made coffee there. I booked this place, because it was the cheapest. So that's what we got. The bed mattresses are not good, my back sunk in, I am on the heavier side, so bring your own supportive pillow, or use an extra pillow. Our food went bad, because the fridge was not on when we got in. They just didn't give any thought about our check in. The place itself is a beautiful old building. I honestly don't know where to begin with how horrible my stay at the Boxboro Regency Hotel was. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. To start, the room was an absolute disaster. The moment I walked in, I was assaulted by a strong, musty smell that made it impossible to breathe. Upon further inspection, I noticed black mold on the walls and ceiling--disgusting. It's beyond me how any hotel could let this level of filth slide, and yet here we are. The bathroom was filthy, with rust stains all over the shower fixtures and the grout looking like it hadn't been cleaned in months. A friend of mine was staying in another room and the sink tap came off in her hand. And then, the air conditioning. It didn't work at all. The room was sweltering, and after hours of being uncomfortable, I reached out to the staff to fix the issue. They were completely dismissive and refused to send anyone to address the problem, telling me there was nothing they could do because they didn't turn the air conditioning on until the "warm months". So, I had to spend the entire night in a hot, sticky room--another reason this place is a complete failure. The pool looked nice enough, the water was clear but it was COLD. Heated pool my aunt fanny. There was also rust all over the railing and tiles. It looked like it hadn't been maintained in a while. When I tried to bring up my concerns to the staff, they were nice enough but completely unhelpful. No apologies, no solutions. This hotel is an absolute disgrace. Between the mold, broken air conditioning, filthy bathroom, peeling wallpaper and sopping wet carpets in the hallways, there's not much good to say about this place. I spent two nights at your hotel in Boxborough over the holiday weekend, and I have to say that I was appalled! The facilities are dirty and in need of great repair. Yet, your prices are that of other facilities of much better quality.In addition to being dirty and in need of great repair, there were not the most basic services available, like housekeeping. Who would ever expect there to be no housekeeping!The room was not equipped with a coffee maker or microwave, which it should since there is nothing around except Dunkin Donuts across the street at the Mobile station. I could not even get ice. Is this facility being used to house migrants? If so, then you should not be letting rooms to the general public in this condition. I was given room 144 just across from the pool. A pool that I would not have put my foot into, yet people were using it at all hours. I did not see quiet hours posted. Some of the exterior doors did not work, and I found two that were propped open. Not very good for safety I must say. I did not select this location. And I wish I had not trusted those who selected it. I would have found another place to stay even if it meant more driving. Just stayed there for 3 nights, terrible, the room han not ventilation at all, everything stayed wet bathroom never dried out, no exhaust fan towels always wet. no daily maid service and no breakfast on Sunday not even a continental breakfast closest breakfast is 15 minutes away. I attended the Disc East Disc Golf Expo this January 2025 with a friend at the Boxboro Regency . Yes the hotel is dated, but nicely cared for and the rate was excellent. Our overall experience was excellent. It began when we walked into the restaurant, "Minuteman Grille". We sat down to order food and drinks and were very warmly greeted by Meghan, who provided us fantastic service throughout the weekend. Meghan never stopping working at a breakneck speed. This was also the case with Nikki and Jocelyn who were also fantastic. Considering the large number of people coming and going, it was quite amazing to see them work together as a team. I never witnessed one person complain, however I did hear others discussing the the great service and also the great food. The baked haddock was great and so was the breakfast sandwich. I normally don't take the time to write reviews unless something really stands out. In this case it was the service of Meghan, Nikki and Jocelyn. Thank you for the great experience. I would absolutely stay and Boxboro Regency again. If you want to pay more and stay at a newer hotel, go for it, but if you want a great experience from people that care, check out the Boxboro Regency, you won't be dissapointed! read more

Despite it looking rough on the outside, I thought after seeing the entrance and "court yard" that the rooms would be nice as well. I WAS WRONG!!!! When our family first arrived we got checked in and went to our FIRST room(It smelt of old cheese, feet, and bologna.) Of course after hours of traveling, I needed to use the restroom. Upon entering the restroom I immediately notice BLACK MOLD along the ceiling!! I looked all around the rest of the bathroom and there was black mold not only along the ceiling, but around the sink area and even patches of it growing underneath the sink! The vent fan was covered in dust as if no one had cleaned it in months! I also squished two spiders and an earwig in this bathroom. I told my husband to go down to the front desk and tell them immediately!! They swapped our rooms. We go to our SECOND room and I'm looking around at things(I ALWAYS CHECK FOR BED BUGS ANYWHERE I GO!) and what do I spot? BED BUGS!!!!!! I tell my husband again to go tell them about these problems, they apologize for the inconvenience, give my husband a complementary breakfast, and swapped our room again.(The hotel staff later went on to say that our "claim" about the bed bugs had to be false because they said they did not see any bed bugs. 'I have pictures though.') We were moved to one of the "presidential suites." We walk in, I start checking for bed bugs, no bugs. But I hear something. I follow the sound to the CLOSET! What am I hearing? Now feeling and smelling?? A LEAK!! A bad leak that not only SOAKED the carpet in the closet but about three feet outside of the closet to the bed side! This wasn't a small leak either! Once you stepped anywhere near the closet, the side of your shoes were soaked!! There was not a wall outlet of that side of the bed where the leak was behind the nightstand. There was however an extension cord, ON THE FLOOR! Now I'm no electrician, but water and electricity don't mix. This rooms bathroom, FILLED WITH BLACK MOLD TOO!!!!! Oh and if you or a family member that is handicapped and need to use the pools chair to get in and out of the pool, DO NOT USE IT! IT IS NOT SECURE! THE BASE IS NOT SECURED TO THE GROUND!!!! We checked in for 4 nights. the restaurant was never opened when advertised so we had to do a lot of door dashing. the interior of the hotel was nasty and caused my allergies to act up. The 3rd day the toilet broke and we had to call to have it fixed. The last night the heat in our room broke so they had to move us as there was no one to look at it. Our wedding party and guests stayed here last night. We had 22 rooms booked. The majority of rooms were dirty, some rooms had no ac. When asking for another room, they were given a box fan!!! Tried to go to the pool in the morning which was supposed to open at 9. At 9:15 it was locked shut. Went to front desk to ask to get it unlocked and they had to wait for the key. Considering the deal we got, we were generally happy with our stay. Sure, there is some wear and tear in the rooms, but we're also not paying the prices of the high-end hotels. I wanted to take a dip in their pool but never got a chance with our busy schedule. That being said, they conveniently have a laundry room, so I got to wash a load of clothes to refresh them during my travels. That was helpful, and you can exchange bills for quarters at the front desk. Customer service was okay - sometimes they could use an extra person up front. Reservations, checking in, and checking out went smoothly enough. Parking was plentiful. The location is a ways from major attractions, so it might not be for you if you want to be close to them. read more

First off my husband booked on priceline, so if you've ever had any issues, you understand. We flew into Chicago to drop off my son back at his father's. Weather decided to crash our plans to leave the 7th and had to stay another night in Chicago. We stayed at an AMAZING ALOFT Marriott, for $65 a night and rebooked for the 8th. We called the BOXBORO REGENCY to see if we could check in on the 8th and get the 7th refunded since the weather is out of our control. The "MASSHOLE" title that we had heard the people of this state referred to as was confirmed. The front desk lady said NO, NOT POSSIBLE. Super snappy. We paid $98 bucks give or take to stay from the 7th to the 11th. The hotel rooms, SMELL, they look as if they are stuck in the twilight zone, there are no exhaust fans in the restroom, the carpets in the room, I dare not step barefoot on, the pool IS heated but is as cloudy as Los Angeles skies. There is a housekeeping lady that keeps giving us the evil eye. The inside of the hotel is quite unique and well kept. We are here while a funeral party is taking place. The set up is real nice. The venue is beautiful. So after all that, we will never stay here again and will definitely not recommend it unless you're having an event. read more

I was very disappointed in this hotel. We stayed there a couple of years ago, had a couple of issues with the room, and we were double charged on our card. It took them over a week to correct this, and all the while we were dealing with not very friendly management. We decided to give it another chance this past weekend as we were coming to MA for my nephew's Graduation. I booked it for a 2 night stay back in April. The hotel we usually stay at the Hilton in Devons had very high rates for this weekend. So, we thought we would try this as it was a better rate and also close to my family. Unfortunately, we would have been better staying at the Hilton (which I Love) and paying the higher rate. Upon entering our room there was a horrible smell. The room smelled, and the odor seemed to get worse when we turned the air conditioner on. The bathroom toilet barely flushed, the faucet in the bathroom was dirty and I had to wipe it down with disinfectant wipes I brought with me. The bathroom door was extremely heavy, something was wrong with it. It wouldn't close all the way...If you tried to keep it open it shut on you, and again was extremely heavy. The first day we were there we mentioned the horrible smell in the room and asked if they had any air freshners. The Manager at the desk said no we don't have anything like that. Like really? She didn't even seem to care. She said there wasn't anyone there now that could do anything about the smell. On Sunday morning my husband was coming out of the bathroom. He was trying to push the door open and it heavily slammed on his upper arm, and the very large towel rack hanging from the door cut his arm. He was bleeding profusely and we had to use towels and face cloths to get it to stop. Thank goodness I had band aids and antibiotic cream with me!!! We told the desk on our way out Sunday morning what happened, and my husband showed her the bandaids. She apologized, took notes and said the Manager wouldn't be in until Tuesday, but the night Manager would be in that afternoon. She said she would give her the note. When we came back Sunday night we stopped at the desk to get more towels. The night Manager had been told of our situation and said they were comping us for 1 night, and said she had another room that we could switch into. It seems if they were going to switch rooms it should have been when we checked in and complained about the horrible smell in the room. Instead they ignored our complaints. My husband told them we were checking out the next morning, so there was no point in switching rooms now. When we had tried to call down for towels Sunday morning our phone didn't work either. The bedding seemed stiff, not soft and very outdated. I would advise you to stay far, far away from this hotel!!! I would think after our experience and my husband being attacked by the towel rack on the bathroom door they should have comped our whole stay.....NOT just one night. My husband is a big guy 6'5" and doesn't bruise easily. So, that says a lot. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money at this hotel. Never, Never Again!!! read more

Where do I start? The absolute worst hotel I have stayed at in my entire life. The hotel is tucked away well off the road and looks very dilapidated from the outside - something out of a horror movie. I was expecting Michael Moore from Halloween or Jason from Friday the 13th to jump out from the bushes and lunge at me. The real horror movie begins when you step into the lobby and even moreso, when you step into your room. To say the decor is dated is being kind. The entire hotel is firmly stuck in the '80s for decor and furnishings. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website. They do not accurately represent this hotel. Even if you can look past the dated decor, the worst part is the complete and total lack of cleanliness. This is evident from the stained carpets in the hallways (surprised not to see a chalk outline next to a stain) to the hotel room. My room was dimly lit, smelled musty and moldy and was filthy. Dusty furniture, nasty carpet, dirt on the bathroom floor. It was located on the "VIP" floor but there was nothing "VIP" about it. At check-in, the young guy at the front desk handed me hotel information which touted their personalized service and cleanliness, but then told me there would be no housekeeping service during my stay. It doesn't look like there's been housekeeping service anywhere in that hotel since 1989. I was here for a music convention and was so surprised that any convention or event would be held at such an absolute dump. This place should be condemned. Some of the staff were very kind, except one lady monitoring convention entrants at the door. She made a comment to me which was either a borderline insult or a bad attempt at humor. If you like a contemporary and clean hotel, avoid this place. 1 star is too generous. read more

After checking into the hotel, we headed up to the 2nd floor. The elevator was not working properly so my husband headed up first. When trying to exit the elevator the door kept shutting on him physically to where he couldn't get out. He ended up falling and hurting himself. The hotel was not concerned about him at all. We finally got to our room. It was so nasty and dirty. Floors has mold in the bathroom. Sheets were stained. They moved us to another room but it was not much better. One of our friends said they had silver fish in their bathroom all over the ceiling. There was one restaurant which was hardly open and the prices were high for what you got . Don't even bother with this place unless you don't mind broken or almost broken appliances in the rooms, wet and stained carpets in the rooms as well as the hallways, terrible water pressure and rooms that look like they were cleaned by Stevie Wonder in a rush. The only person working when we checked in was not at the front desk for a solid 20 minutes and then seemed bothered to check us into our rooms. Upon entering our room I had to reattach the toilet set to the bowl myself as there is a better chance of seeing Bigfoot than there is seeing a maintenance worker. The A/C in the room was blowing stale air around the room and caused a terrible smell in the room, yet no cold air came from it. The carpeted floor in the room was so damp and decaying it was literally peeling off and sticking to our feet as we walked, the bed sheets also felt damp. I had to basically shoulder check the door to get it to close as there was so much paint on the door jam it wouldn't close on it's on as it's designed to do. They had placed a big floor fan outside our door that was across the hall from the pool that was louder than a hurricane all night. The room that has the ice machine had the ceiling falling down and the floor was covered in ceiling tile particles and other dust and debris, lord only knows what got into the ice machine. The hotels focal point is the atrium that hasn't seen joy since Bush Sr. was in office. I most certainly could go on and on about this place but my point is you'd be better off sleeping in your car. 10/10 wouldn't recommend! read more

We were told to leave our patio doors open to get air but that made all the humidity, heat from the pool and musty chlorine smell in our room! The pool is about the only redeeming quality at this point. The rooms aren't good, they're just there. Anything that a room might typically come with may or may not be present when you check in, depending on how housekeeping is feeling that day. The front desk staff is pleasant but the manager, whatever his name is, is a bit of a jerk. Overall, after two stays, it's not likely that I'll return and I won't be recommending it to anyone. The max heat setting isn't enough to warm up the entire room and actually the heat would taper off, it didn't feel like 86 degrees was coming out in the first place. I wasn't even super comfortable with sweats on. Also, no microwaves in the room, you have to go down to the lobby. Good hot shower pressure. Nice scenery around and convenient to gas/coffee minutes away. I would like to come stay here in the Summer to have a fuller perspective. read more

To start with a positive or two, we really liked the size of the salads delivered by room service and also the fresh quality. Really very good. Also, they charge a reasonable $25 fee for dogs, while the other Regency not far away gets a whopping $100. But the overall quality and upkeep of the entire facility is not great. Guess it's expensive to rehab rooms in a large hotel. Too bad. I'm thinking that the hotel is a bit overpriced for what it is. read more

They should invest in cleaning it up. I think the biggest problem is the old carpet. The ceilings are gross, the bath tub is full of soap scum and the girl at the desk has a fresh mouth and a shitty attitude. Our room smelled like mold. It was bad. We stayed for one night (about 14 hours) for a dance competition. The front desk was fine, since we went there 5 times. The pool was fun for the kids. The room is very old. Our keys wouldn't work and we went to the front desk 3 times, just to have maintenance come and change the battery in the lock. There was no shampoo or conditioner, so back to the front desk we went. The refrigerator was louder than it should have been, as the bureau door in front of it is missing. I have lost count on how many ladybugs and stink bugs we have had in the room. Can't speak to the restaurant because I no longer want to order breakfast if we have to eat it in our room. Will not stay here again or recommend. read more

Stayed there this weekend for Comic-Con. I was nervous about staying there after reading these reviews however, it's really not that bad. Yes it's outdated and could use a renovation. The room was clean. Hotel staff were accommodating and we checked in early. We were missing the tv remote in our room and one was brought up to us immediately. The rooms have a mini fridge although no microwave (which would have been nice). I checked out the fitness center which is basic but clean and gets the job done. There isn't much in the area as far as food. The restaurant there is decent and prices are average. The pool... was a pool... nothing special and no hot tub. just spent 4 days with a group for a retreat. The attention given by the staff is amazing - so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! Every meal was as good or better than the last. This was the best place retreat spot we have been to! Can't wait to go back next year! read more
