Was the worst experience I ever had at a hotel or motel or resort far as customer service and the appliances I had one decent conversation with staff on site and it was when I order room service me and the employee that brought the food up had a good conversation, but hotel staff that check me in at the front desk was very rude. I had a conference in the hotel, so my office booked me a room for the night before. Great parking situation. I go in a little after 6 and check in. I have to give a card for the room, but it's just for the typical hotel hold. Get up to the room and it's across from the elevator and the room isn't a square. I think they turned a suite into two rooms, but I'm unsure. The TV is at a weird angle from the desk and the bed due to this. They have these wood panels to close over the windows. I do so and then head out to grab dinner. Get back and settle in. I tried the rain shower feature and the water doesn't get warm. I switch to the regular shower head and it warms up. Weird, but not a big deal. I go to go to bed and there is a light coming in from the hallway under the room door. There is like an inch of space. I use two of the like five super uncomfortable pillows to block the light from coming in and go to bed. At sunrise, light starts coming into the room because the wood panels are warped or don't line up right. I see an alert for hundreds of dollars on my credit card on my phone, but i will deal with it at check out. Between 7 and 8, I am getting ready and can head the elevator ding as people get on and off it. I go down and they show me invoices that they charged the company card and say it is just a hold that will go away by the end of the day. No one could explain why they put a hold on my card for the cost of the room when it was pre-paid before I checked in. This was a Thursday morning. The hold was there until the following Tuesday for hundreds of dollars. The hotel is very expensive, the rooms need updating and maintenance, and the hold on my card for like 5 days was wild. While I might be booked again due to work, I cannot recommend it. read more

We stayed in Beechwood hotel the night before we were moving into our new residence down the road. The signage is large and easy to spot. The outside looks very nice. We actually arrived at like 1:30am because we drove up from Philly the evening before and concierge was present and readily available at that time. We called to make sure that check in time would be acceptable and the staff member responded, "it's your hotel room, you can check in whenever you'd like". The guy who was checking us in was a little bit chatty for 1:30am after a long drive. He made fun of me slightly in a jovial way but I wasn't particularly in the mood. Normally, I'm down for a good roast but I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep. He was friendly, and my companion who had escaped unscathed enjoyed it but I found it a bit irritating. The restaurant is very close by but breakfast is not free. Not that I care, but FYI for people that are interested in hotel breakfast. The inside of the hotel and the room itself is very regal in appearance. The little door hangers have been replaced by buttons on the wall to indicate your preference for cleaning. The room was extremely spacious, one of the largest rooms I've ever stayed in. The bathroom itself was amazing. There were numerous, extremely soft towels. The shower water pressure was like a fire hose. Don't even attempt to wash just your body with your hair in a bun because the power wash shower head will leave water ricocheting all over. This is not a complaint in any capacity, I love that shit. The bed itself was also very comfortable with cozy sheets. The bathroom has a NIGHTLIGHT. How many times have you been forced to leave the bathroom door closed with the bathroom light on to avoid bumping into shit and stubbing toes? I wish every place had a nightlight. Staying in this hotel has been a great experience! I would definitely recommend it. read more

I stayed at the Beechwood for a week recently and had a very positive experience. The key asset to this hotel is its staff - from the front desk and housekeeping, to the restaurant. I'd like to make special mention of the Beechwood Hotel restaurant manager, Gigi Bayou, who went out of her way to make me feel welcomed and catered to during my week long stay. She is very good at taking care of guests and other restaurant patrons, and takes her management position to heart. She was in the restaurant from mornings until late in the evening, but was never too busy to welcome guests, fill dining orders or simply answer questions about the area. The front desk staff were welcoming and personable on EVERY shift, even late night. The housekeeping staff went out of their way to greet guests and ensure any cleaning needs were met. It was a joy to return to my room in the evening and have it look like I just checked in. This hotel staff truly cares about its guests. I loved the hotel's interior, and I'm sure it will be very popular when the outside restuarant patio area work is complete. I was in the area due to a family member in the hospital down the street, so the kindness and responsiveness of the hotel staff lifted my spirits and was greatly appreciated. If you're visiting the Shrewsbury/Worcester area looking for a nice hotel experience with good dining, I recommend the Beechwood Hotel. read more

Our 6 days stay was prepaid and they charged our credit card again at check-in. It took us half a day to get it straightened out. Front desk wasn't helpful and made us feel like it was our fault. The bar was closed on a Saturday night at 10 pm (they close at midnight) and we couldn't even get a drink after a 12 hour trip. Rooms are nice and looked clean, but the doors don't close tight. The lights from the floor brighten up the room at night. They had darkening curtains at the windows but you're not allowed to close them. The front desk was not helpful and not especially nice, very disappointing for a 4 stars hotel. Btw, the tiny plastic water bottles in the room are not complementary, they charge you $ 2.50. Never had this before! wifi wasn't accessible without the help from the front desk (they don't tell you that, you have to figure it out yourself). No amenities, nothing special that would justify the price. Any motel is better and cheaper. We complained about the service through email and got a reply - from the front desk! With a funny smiley. Maybe I am over compensating for other reviews and the fact we just paid too much for too small a room in Boston. However great room for $150. Very spacious Executive King room. Every thing is clean and well kept. The towels are thick and large. Water was high pressure and quickly hot. There was some noise from a wedding party but that is the nature of wedding parties. Windows can open and have screens. We liked that. Good wifi but may could use an outlet by the bed side with the clock and lamp. A lamp with an outlet in the base would be nice. read more

Our stay at this hotel was great. Checking in was pleasant and quick. I was asked if I had a floor preference and I said no but the gentleman seemed to choose a room best for me and my kids that would allow us easy access to both the stairwell and elevator in case of emergency and not on the 1st floor (which I've always been taught to not stay on alone as a woman due to windows and ease of people walking into the hotel). Aside from my safety rant, the hotel is super clean and the rooms are spacious. There's a Keurig in the room as well as a mini fridge and a "honor basket" which you can consume items from for a charge. The hotel was very quiet and parking is really easy (and free). Sonoma restaurant was good but pricey and limited menu options (probably due to the pandemic and that we stayed here midweek). I would absolutely stay here again. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful and the level of cleanliness made me much more comfortable with having my young son and baby here. read more

My review is for an event not from actually staying at this hotel. I was here for a Sunday Brunch baby-shower and everything was perfect. The waitstaff were excellent and somehow always there as soon as you finished your glass or stopped eating to clear your plate (not sure how with only 2 of them in a room of at least 50 ppl!). The buffet was fresh and they kept all sections full. The buffet had a very good mix of breakfast and lunch items. Ranging from eggs to cranberry crusted salmon to bread pudding to an antipasto area with fresh meats and cheeses. They had a meat carving station, Waffles and crapes station, and an omelet station. They also had a separate table area to the side that was lower to the ground that had all of kids favorite things - cookies, chicken fingers, desserts, and smiley face french fries. Everything was delicious and very flavorful - definitely quality and quantity at the same time. The room we were in was a basic function room but had a gorgeous patio that must be lovely during the spring/summer/fall months ( too bad it was covered in snow and 20 degrees out!). The room was the prefect size for our group - we weren't crowded and there was plenty of room for gifts and mingling. I am certain it is not cheap to have an event here but I think it is well worth the money. I am a true believer in you get what you pay for! read more

Came with family for Easter brunch... we were a party of eight and didn't have a reservation which we knew was a tall order... the host greeted us promptly and despite the fact the we had no reservation they sat us quickly. I'm not usually one for buffets but let me tell you this food was phenomenal... my grandmother in her 90's was guided through the buffet by the wait staff and she really enjoyed the bread pudding the most. She usual pics at her food at this point (dentures / stomach issues) but wouldn't you believe she had about 4 plates of the bread pudding! She keeps asking us if tomorrow is Easter ... we couldn't figure out why (dementia) but we realized that she just wants that tasty bread pudding. Over all great place made grandmas Easter ! This is by far the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Believe me, I travel a lot. Upon arrival, the manager didn't so much look in the direction of my business associate and I - he would not have been able to pick us from a lineup, and he never once looked us in the eye, not even when he handed us our room keys. That was just the beginning. Once I entered my room, I had some issues signing into the wifi. So, I decided to try with my iPhone. The moment I accessed their network, my phone was literally taken over remotely - someone began to scroll through my emails, and even to open apps. I immediately called down to the lobby, shut off my iPhone, and then went down to see them in person. The night manager, Phil, sent a restaurant manager (Steven) to my room with me, so that I could show them what was happening. The room's iPad was also having issues, and Steven witnessed those. As he and I watched, my phone tried to open and access the Credit Karma app. It was terrifying... and crazily, it is the SECOND time I have seen this happen, both in hotel rooms when accessing their wifi. I had previously seen this in DC, at a hotel close to the White House. But here began the problem: when I checked in the next day, the manager had written that Steven witnessed nothing, and that we had "been unable to recreate" the issue. That was not true, and so I requested that they amend the report. It seemed that they had immediately circled the wagons and were trying to deny any liability. They seemed skeptical that I had actually witnessed something like this before. During the following day, I got alerts on my iPhone about unauthorized access to my iTunes account, and my Apple ID and password. Then, I got alerts about my Google account. I spoke with Mister Saleh (sp?) who is supposedly the general manager. His position was clear: he was not going to admit any liability. He said the service provider had found nothing wrong, and he went so far as to tell me that the restaurant manager was not a qualified tech and could not say what had happened. You only needed two eyes to see what had happened. My phone had been remotely hacked. During the following few days, I repeatedly tried to get them to amend their report. Now, their staff tried to avoid me, especially Steven - he went so far as to see me in the lobby and turn tail. Mister Saleh instructed his staff not to discuss the issue with me, yet he neither spoke to me again nor amended the report. Tonight, I received YET ANOTHER alert that someone had used my password to access my email, this time from Virginia. Thankfully, Google recognized it and prevented it. But I am now completely freaked out. Someone has accessed my information. Both the day manager, and also the hotel manager (named Derek) admitted to me that the hotel has had security issues, and that they were scheduled to change their entire system on the 19th of September. Meanwhile, Mister Saleh's tone was accusatory and defensive. He did nothing to help me, and spent the entire time trying to prevent me from leaving with acknowledgement about what happened. I was inclined to call the police because if the system was not hacked remotely, it may have been a hotel employee. All I know is that their security issues allowed my personal information to be hacked, and they lied about whether or not it had happened. This is my first ever review on Yelp. My advice? Don't take my word for it - look at all the one-star reviews of this place. And oh yeah... I am so sharing this on Facebook so that my 5000 review-savvy friends can see just what a nightmare situation has been thrust upon me. read more

The Beechwood Hotel appears to have been a very nice hotel - past tense intended. It is unfortunate that the building and facilities have not been maintained. We booked a two-night stay while attending a nearby wedding. The bathroom was reasonably clean, but the rest of the room, especially the carpet, was quite filthy. The upholstered furnishings were stained and generally dirty. The toilet flushed only every third time. The window treatments were in poor condition, as well. We were disappointed to find that our room did not contain a safe for our valuables. There is only a single staff member on duty during the night. In our room, there was no extra blanket, and the closet contained only 5 or 6 wood hangers - not nearly enough for wedding weekend attire for two people. We requested an extra blanket, some additional closet hangers, and some extra laundry bags. The wait was not too long, after all, and the concierge delivered a clean blanket, laundry bags, and...an assortment of used, bent thin wire hangers, some rusty. Nearly all of the hangers were unusable. We will try another hotel the next time that we are staying in the Worcester area. read more

Just came to a seminar at the Beechwood, not even to stay. I walked into the lobby and to the front reservation desk or ask what direction the room was that the seminar was taking place at. The girl behind the counter appeared overwhelmed with the fact there was 3 people in front of her. She eyed me up and down as though she didn't approve of my suit? And gave me the "oh ya, that's down stairs" REALLY? I have been a customer service manager for years, AND she is not someone I would hire. Get your nose out of the air, you can't judge book by a cover... I could be worth millions or worth 2 cents! You don't know! My first impression was not a good one. Wow! Hilarious to call this hotel 4 stars! This place is absolute garbage. First off, I stayed here for two nights for a school conference and it was $180 a night for educators to stay in the middle of Worcester. While hotels across the st are $60 a night. There are absolutely no amenities, and the one amenity they had, the gym, was closed for a new rug installation. Do you think we were told the gym was closed? Nope, I walked down there in my gym attire to find out the hard way bc the communication in this hotel was god awful. I woke up every morning around 7am to hammers pounding and drills drilling. The heat system in the rooms are an absolute joke, that raddled the entire time I was there. I asked a person in the room next to me if it was the same and they agreed. The most annoying heating system EVER! The hotel is not clean at all! This hotel is MAYBE a two star hotel, on a good day. Avoid this hotel at ALL COSTS! Decent hotel close to UMass campus. The staff is pretty rude. My stay at the hotel was part of a business trip and was organized through the institution. I wouldn't come back, if I had the choice, considering the price. The rooms are ok, a little old-fashioned, but they are mostly clean and the free wifi works properly. A minus is that they don't have any kind of spa, sauna or pool. When I asked, if there is one close by, the receptionist just said: "I don't know. Go google it." There was no one in line and they could have tried to be more friendly. They have a small room with two or three treadmills and barbells, which can be used as a gym. They got the order from my institution to charge them for some of my meals. When I checked out I had to tell them about that, because they wanted to charge me. The receptionist pretended to look something up, ignored me then and charged my card without another word. It cost me a couple of days to fix the issue later. Ceres, their bistro is very pricey, but the service is not on par. The food is ok, but the portions are small. The breakfast is average. They have the usual plastic apples with water filling, only one kind of jam hidden in the corner and old pastries with multiple layers of sugar as a preservative. If you want juice, you have to ask multiple times, before they give you half a glass. Overall the staff barely smiles and doesn't say "thanks" and "here you are" very often. When I got to the restaurant the first time a big guy, who works there looked at me, as if he wanted to kill me. read more

Absolutely a disgrace to a four star hotel standard. This place needed to be reassessed for their four stars. I couldn't be more disappointed with my stay and their customer service. Extremely rude people, especially the younger manager. My room was a mess when I checked in. The luggage cradle was snapped in half, the ice bucket was on its side with the bag on the floor. When the room service came in, they simply dumped the trashed from the room without replacing the bag inside the trash which was the dirtiest part. Could tell they have been using the same trash bag in the rooms barrel for weeks if not months. NASTY! The gym was under construction during my stay without any notice. Literally their only ammentity for almost $200 a night in Worcester. Woke up to hammering and drilling every morning and it continues ALL DAY! I I called the front desk to ask if they could stop so I could sleep and she literally said, "no, it's their job." And it's her job to make her customers happy and confortable on their stay but apparently that's not their priority. Do not stay at this hotel. Find a cheaper one close by, you won't regret it. Attended a wedding and got the "group rate" which is apparently $20 more than the normal weekend rate. I believe the discrepancy was the worst continental breakfast I've ever had - bagged bagels, mini muffins, and a couple of cereal options. The room itself was average in terms of space/layout. Admittedly, it was a very hot weekend and we were on the top floor, but we couldn't get the room below 76F even with the AC on high all day. They've done away with the "Do Not Disturb" doorknob signs in lieu of a button inside the room that corresponds to a light on the outside. Regardless, we surprised the maid who ignored that light. We asked her to leave and it was clear she had no idea what we were saying as she smiled and continued to clean. On top of it all, they've over billed and we're still waiting to see when that charge is fixed. read more

The rooms in this hotel are slightly oddly shaped, as the hotel is circular. They're pretty spacious, though, and pretty comfortable. The employees are very helpful, even when you stumble out of your room in the middle of the night, coughing horribly and desperately in need of guidance to the nearest 24-hour pharmacy. The window shutters are great for blocking out sunlight, and the climate control is responsive, but very very loud. read more

We recently stayed in room 109 for a wedding. The room was beautiful. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large. Everything was clean. I asked the front desk for more towels and they were delivered immediately. The price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying in the Worcester area. Only real negative was the wifi. We had a lot of trouble staying connected to the wifi during our stay, which was frustrating at times. read more

Stayed here for three nights while escorting m younger brother off to his first year at college. The rooms are nice and spacious, and have incredibly comfortable beds. The first night we spent here we forgot to put hte do not disturb sign out and the cleaning people came in at 9:30, which is rather early. We made sure not to forget on subsequent nights. They do have the cool button to press on the inside, which is neat. Other things we enjoyed was being able to control our AC unit, the wood shutters that really keep out the daylight for those who like sleeping in, and free wifi. Overall, I still think it's an expensive place, but at least you will sleep comfortably and be able to enjoy a nice hot shower in the morning. If you do stay here though, stay away from their restaurant, its the dregs, I would take a star off for it, but I already gave the place it's own review. read more

We came here for our anniversary and I'm so glad we did. What attracted me to the Beechwood was their overnight packages, particularly the Romance Package, which included diner, breakfast and champagne/strawberries. Everyone at the Concierge was incredibly friendly and helpful. When I was unable to book a room for the night I wanted online, and had some questions about what I was seeing for availability, I called and was immediately assisted with no trouble. No one batted an eye when 2 women checked in for a Romance package night, and were cheerful as we were checked in and assisted with our package elements. The room was plush and cozy if set up a little weird since it was in a round portion of the building. We wanted for nothing, and were only disappointed that we were only there for a single night. read more

Our room was right next door to where all kinds of construction was going on so not only did we have to endure all that horrific noise and banging but we had to smell paint fumes the entire time we were in our room. Terrible. We had 2 small children with us as well. Why would you ever give anyone that room? Greed. The shower handle kept getting stuck so we were unable to turn off water; 1 electrical outlet didn't work; closet door handle got stuck and wouldn't open. Volume of TV would only go up to 30! So we couldn't hear anything we were watching. This tops it though: while checking out, I asked specifically if the hold on my credit card would be taken off because I was paying cash. The older woman with blond hair stated that it would if it was a credit card, not a debit card. I asked again because I know holds sometimes take up to 5 days to come off. She assured me that the hold would come off right away. Needless to say, it did not and has not as of today. Very disappointed. read more

Great hotel. I arrived late and the man at the front desk was very informative and quick to get me checked in so I could catch some Zzz's. The room was very nice and bed very comfortable. Plenty of nice pillows for once at a hotel. It seems like they are always too hard , too soft, big, small, etc. maybe I'm just picky. The bathroom was clean and stocked with your usual shampoo, soap, and lots of plush towels. Staff was very helpful throughout my stay and could answer any questions. Stayed here last weekend for a friend's wedding. The room was great and clean with some nice free toiletries. Luckily I got to them before my greedy boyfriend gobbled them all up! Please be aware the water and snack items are not free! Do not fall into this trap. Only complaint was the key cards worked sparatically and once we gave up entirely and a cleaning lady let us in. We went to the bar downstairs, Ceres, and had drinks and appetizers. They have a great selection of $5 appetizers for Happy Hour and a big reasonably priced beer and wine selection. Even my beer snob boyfriend was pleased! The bartenders were super friendly too. We also got a coupon for the breakfast, and free continental breakfast. I'm really just reviewing the restaurant, Ceres, as I stopped in here for a quick bite with a gal pal of mine a few days ago. She's getting married in 2014 at the Beechwood, and after a florist consultation, we stopped in so that I could see the venue and to grab lunch and a glass of bubbly at Ceres. The whole place is lovely. Because it's a boutique hotel, my friend has already gotten really great attention and help from the staff--and her wedding is a year away. The food at Ceres was fantastic, and the service was equally as good. The food has some special touches as well, including de-LIC-ious house-made potato chips. It's really a nice spot in what can be an otherwise dreary city. Bravo! read more

This place is great, and a perfect spot for a wedding in Worcester. My sister got married here about a month ago. I was able to bask in all aspects of the hotel. The bar - I wrote a review for the bar already, but it's a nice bar. The rooms - the rooms are very nice, and the cleaning staff is very helpful, especially when you realize that you can't find the remote (that's always a problem). The downstairs/wedding party stuff - this part is really nice. They do a good job of doing everything one needs at a wedding: food, chapel, space, etc. All of it is really good, and really classy. I recently stayed here for a wedding. An absolute diamond in the rough that is Worcester. The lobby is beautiful, the staff though not overly friendly were professional and accommodating. My suite was beautiful though some things were a little silly such as curtains covering walls and fake cabinet doors built into the wall. The giant king size bed was heavenly, and the in room touch screen computer was pretty cool. My only gripes are small, no in room movie options, tv remote didn't work well for my bed, no blinds on windows just elegant curtains which didn't block out the sun at all. I was also disappointed with their award winning brunch the food that looked amazing was not that great and cold. read more
