I recently stayed here for a wedding. An absolute diamond in the rough that is Worcester. The lobby is beautiful, the staff though not overly friendly were professional and accommodating. My suite was beautiful though some things were a little silly such as curtains covering walls and fake cabinet doors built into the wall. The giant king size bed was heavenly, and the in room touch screen computer was pretty cool. My only gripes are small, no in room movie options, tv remote didn't work well for my bed, no blinds on windows just elegant curtains which didn't block out the sun at all. I was also disappointed with their award winning brunch the food that looked amazing was not that great and cold. read more

The Beechwood was AMAZING in helping me plan my wedding reception! Their wedding planner, Laurie, was incredibly well-organized and helpful. She had tips for helping me plan and was not intrusive at all. In fact, I barely saw her during the reception; she was behind the scenes orchestrating everything while I was having a wonderful time. The hotel is beautiful and is definitely a hidden gem in Worcester. The rooms are cozy and very New-England chic. The lobby, patio, and ballroom spaces are all very nicely decorated. The restaurant, Ceres, is delicious, offering a wide range of options and a fabulous bar. I would highly recommend the Beechwood to any Worcester bride. read more

This is a great hotel! I stayed three nights and was very impressed. When I arrived I told the front desk I wanted to "check out the room before u checked in". It was not a problem. They gave me a key and sent me up with a smile. I went to the room and immediately stripped the bed- looking for evidence of bed bugs. It was CLEAN. I sniffed the pillows... FRESH! I checked the tub... SPARKLING! The toilet? SPOTLESS ! I checked in and hit the Ceres bistro. Acceptable wine list. Nice half bottles and close to retail pricing I would get at the store! Excellent. The food? Okay, I will be honest with you... If you read my other reviews you already know I pull no punches! THE FOOD IS GREAT! The salads were a little overdressed but the crab cakes? HEAVEN! The bread was deelish. But the deserts? EH. Not worth the calories. All the employees were fantastic. Bartenders were easy on the eyes, and. Friendly. Don't think this place is "fancy" or "expensive". It is a GREAT hotel at a reasonable price. I would stay here again and again. If I ever come back to Worcester, you'll find me at The Beechwood. Had a great time at a wedding here over the past weekend. Definitely a place to consider for your wedding needs. A little hard to find the entrance using the GPS at night but other than that had a blast. Completely unexpected this far down the pike in Worcester. The bartenders made great drinks and were really friendly. The food stole the show (passed appetizers, stationary antipasto table with veggies, and a 4 course dinner) as everything was really good (not your typical bland wedding food). I found out the price and was quite surprised at what they received for it (quality and quantity). Atmosphere was really nice and modern. Not your typical run down hotel with old carpet. I would definitely recommend this place to couples shopping for a wedding venue outside of Boston. read more

The Beechwood is on par with any Fairmont resort. Exceptionally clean rooms, great linens & toiletries, good amenities, and the location is hard to beat if you are in Worchester on business. I've been here for two separate business trips and have not been disappointed. The in-room computer system? genius! They have a decent hotel business centre that is well stocked so you can print out your boarding passes for the plane before you leave. Nice room. I got the junior suit. When I checked in, I was handed my room key in a little folio that had info about the hotel and amenities. One of the items that caught my eye was "24 Hour Room Service". Sweet! The room service menu was extensive, although I doubted they would be offering the entrees at midnight. When I returned to my room, late, I picked up the phone to place a sandwich order. Not looking for the hangar steak! The applewood bacon-turkey sandwich would be fine. Tried calling room service and front desk several times, no answer. I went down to the front lobby, no one there. I saw a sign that said "vending 3", so up to the third floor to check out the vending options. Soda machine only. One last try at the lobby. As I walked through the lobby, a motion near the empty front desk caught my eye. A man in the office behind it was staring at me. Not moving, not asking if I needed help. Just staring. I said, "Hello?" and he finally stood up and came to the front desk. I asked, "Do you have 24 hour room service?" He said, "Not really. No" I asked, "What does 'not really' mean? It says here, 24 hours" He said "Well we have some sandwiches in the back here. What do you want?" I said, "A sandwich will be fine". We agreed on a turkey sandwich and he handed me a plastic container. As I went up to my room, I saw the container had a date of 2/16 on it. It is 1am 2/19. I prayed that wasn't the expiration date. When I opened the container, it contained a "make it yourself" kit of individually plastic wrapped items: 2 slices of dry bread, some turkey, one tiny slice of cheese and one wilted leaf of lettuce. No bacon, no mayo, no mustard. Just dry ingredients. That's what they call 24 hour room service at this place. I haven't looked at my bill yet, anyone want to take bets on whether they charged me the full $12 for the turkey sandwich described on the menu? read more

I booked a room for two nights to attend a family celebration. The rooms are big and lovely but the furniture in my room was stained and dirty. I wouldn't even it on them. At breakfast I was told the continental breakfast was complimentary or I could order off the menu. Nothing about the low price add ons. I learned about those after eating and hearing them explained to people at the table next to me. During checkout spoke to person at front desk even commenting I would probably never return. No response from anyone at the hotel. Disappointed no one addressed my concerns. read more

The Beechwood is really the only place to stay in Worcester if you are in search of the extra special touches. That being said, don't show up looking road weary. I did, and was looked upon as if I was oh, I don't know, maybe a local druggie or working girl looking for some action. Fresh off some medical treatment, I needed to rest and was dragging my suitcase in the door- bell chick ignored me. Ok. Checked in, dragged my bag up to my room, and collapsed delightedly on the comfy king size bed. Linens are fantastic, room is well appointed and decorated in soothing colors, and oh yes, the blackout drapes work well. After a nap and a shower, cleaned up me got some friendlier attention from the staff, and the rest of my stay was nice. Next time I stay, I will stop at the salon first. read more

Brides beware. My sister was recently married in the area and her and her husband, the bridal party, and many guests stayed here. In the middle of the wedding they called to cancel the shuttle that was supposed to pick up a bunch of people and bring them back to the hotel at the end of the night, so myself and the other bridesmaids had to skip out on dinner to get on phones and figure out how to get a bunch of people home. Also, they wouldn't give my sister and her new husband a late checkout the day after their wedding. Just rude. Room and restaurant are nice but overpriced and it doesn't make up for complete lack of customer service and hospitality, particularly to those who are giving them a large chunk of business for a special event... read more

It was a perfect storm that all the kids had overnight activities , it was the wife's birthday, and the Pats were in the playoffs. A great reason to grab a room, watch the game and have some great food delivered. What transpired was a memorable night, but not for the reasons I am sure the hotel wanted. The tablet system they have for the rooms to order food was down. the error - invalid login. Whatever, called room service order a dozen oyster , a rib-eye, cheese board, and duck with figs. Turn on the game as it starts.. and it is in Spanish. Just the announcers, on just that channel. We looked all through the tv and cable settings, as did the hotel staff, no one could figure it out. Also the wifi in the hotel was down. So we went to another room having missed a good chunk of the first quarter. The tablet there did not work as well. Our new room had no curtains, but at this point I just wanted to watch the game even if our "elegant" fire place suite looked spartan and bleak without the color of the full wall backdrop curtains. Room service arrives I pay and when we uncover it all..My dinner is missing. The oysters are piled on a plate (on top of each other. Yes dirty sides in the cups of other oysters)with no ice , silverware, or accompaniments. Also the oysters had not been cut from the bottom shells. It took four more trips up to bring everything we needed, like silverware. At this point I am just giggling and every time the poor kid shows up we go over the basic list. I really am not a picky person, but I do insist on things like at least one fork per person and the stuff on my plate actually being present , especially at these pricepoints. Eventually they get it correct, but with the time lags, our romantic dinner was each of us watching the other one eat. I feel that if their virtual concierge was working that might have helped, and it probably would have meant we would have ordered more food. Going back over old reviews from others it looks like it has been down for months. Lets take a moment to talk about the food quality. Steak was ok quality.Cheese board was mediocre to bad. Duck was lukewarm and the dried figs grainy. The oysters.....don't get oysters there is my advice. So we finish the game and go to take showers before bed. Extremely low water pressure makes the multi-function shower heads nothing more than a cruel joke. The hvac was so loud that as it kicked on and off at night it woke both of us several times. It also was unable to go below 65, a temp too hot to actually use the massive goose down comforter on the bed. We "arose" tired but still happy for a night just to ourselves and went down stair to Ceres for breakfast. We sort of stand at the entrance while three servers just glance up and putter around chit chatting. Eventually someone dressed manager like notices us and hisses at the closest waitress to go seat us. We didn't even sit down. We just looked at the anemic spread and decided to cut our losses and go out someplace else for breakfast. It is probably important to note that the oysters and other food trash from last night was still sitting in the hallway 15 hours later when we left. Overall we were terribly underwhelmed. And now we both need a nap. read more

Very cool hotel but there were a few things that made our stay less enjoyable. It was a pleasure experience until the morning. It was early (for me at least) around 8:30 and there were about 4 different maids and cleaners talking on the phone and making loud noises right outside our door. We decided to head to breakfast after we got ready and they only serve till 9am and we missed it. We paid for the breakfast and were really looking forward to it, knowing the restaurant is very popular, and could not receive it unless we woke up early on our vacation. read more

Can't comment on the rooms or hotel operations but I can on the operation of the Sunday Brunch. My party of 7 went to the Brunch on Mother's Day. We had a 2 PM reservation and there were a number of other people who came in behind us and thereafter. In short, the brunch was ongoing and it was not ending iminently. All the food that was served was excellent but the problem was that the many of the foods, to include the shrimp and the meats on the carving station were gone. Myself and a few other folks there had to ask several of the staff to get these items refilled. Without exception, the staff would disappear into the kitchen and never come back out. Clearly we were getting the brush off. It was only after the manger was contacted that they brought out a small amount of these items. If the brunch was $20 or $25 bucks, I would understand, but this brunch was $40.00 per person. If they were going to shut it down early or even run out of items, then don't contunue to seat people. As for the service, most of the wait staff (elsewhere in the room) were very attentive and in times past Ihwas very happy with the service. Today however, I had to get up, find our waiteress and ask for coffee, then the same for water. As for the removal of dirty plates, we just stacked them up on an empty adjoining table. Yeah, I get it, they were busy today but this was brunch at 2 PM. this staff simply didn't care and it's too bad because usually the staff here is very good. What absolutely took the cake today was that a gentleman who was employed by the hotel (or perhaps even owned/managed....) stood in the buffet line with his plate and fork and ate from the buffet. While that didn't bother me too much, I was definately grossed out when he refilled his dish with more stuffed fish. This is definately unsanitary and not in keeping with the level of operation the Bechwood Hotel says they uphold. In sum we left disappointed in the Beechwood. It reflects poorly on the whole operation. read more

In years past I've suggested the Beechwood as a spot for travelers visiting my business. This week I offered up the Beechwood along with 2 other possible spots to a visitor to our office with Beechwood topping the list. Our visitor was attending some training at our office and found the Beechwood to be the perfect spot to get well rested and to clear the mind. Sonoma is a great restaurant to provide an upscale welcome to a visitor from out of town and set the mood to a pleasant and productive experience. The Hotel provides hassle free parking and is very welcoming, accessible, and comfortable over all. She paid a few more bucks for the Beechwood but felt it was worth it. Testifying to this is that she has already enthusiastically declared her intent to stay there again for her next visit. So this is a great spot for business travelers that will not disappoint! read more

We went to the Sunday brunch. It was expensive ($26.00 per adult). The buffet selection went on forever. There was a nice array of breakfast, dinner and dessert items. The food was favorable. The food staff was courteous. The wait staff was quick to remove used plates but was very slow in refills and giving us a bill. read more

I recently held my wedding at the Beechwood. I won't comment on the wedding or the planning process, but I will comment on the quality of the hotel and its rooms. The hotel itself is impeccable and many guests raved about the cleanliness and quality of the rooms. My guests were very impressed that the hotel took care of them so well. Please note this review is only for the hotel. (Ceres Bistro is FANTASTIC and we've never had an issue there. The Sunday brunch through the dinning service down on the lower level is also lovely.) This weekend was our second time staying at the Beechwood. The first time was several months ago and was great - clean & modern room, super friendly staff, lovely bed/linens/pillows, etc. This time they were full when we went to book so we were put on the waiting list. They called a few days before our intended stay to let us know that a Junior Suite had opened up and did we want it? We figured that we really liked our room before so the Jr Suite had to be better! Not so much... Same good bed & linens, more space in the room, mini fridge, shutters on the windows to block light (maybe slightly more light leakage than regular light blocking floor to ceiling curtains?) which was all ok. But...the bathroom seemed much smaller. I felt crowded in the tub trying to wash my hair and bumping my elbow on the wall, while the shower curtain attached itself to me. Yuck. I would have expected a rounded curtain rod, or placing the rod further out into the room. The in-room iPad (useful for ordering room service) did not work, despite being rebooted. But the real issue was the AC. It was set to 65, but our room stayed at 75 all night. Tried to turn it off and on again and it did not fix the problem. We got in after 10 pm & were exhausted, and I knew the hotel was booked so I did not bother to call since I didn't know how long it would take to have someone come up to look at it. I should have called since the heat meant I slept terribily. I mentioned both issues at check out. I've stayed at a lot of hotels, both above and below the Beechwood in rating. I've had room issues maybe a handful of times & it does seem each chain and/or individual hotel staff deals with them differently. Sometimes I just get an apology & thank you for letting us know, other times the hotel has worked to make it right. From a 4 star hotel, I expect an apology and an offer to make it right. Give us a discount, comp breakfast, something that says "we are sorry you had that experience and we'd like to make it better". Instead, we got a perfunctory apology and were told that we should have called last night. When we got in. After 10 PM. Which I mentioned to the person checking us out, but it didn't seem to matter. So it feels to me a bit like the Beechwood relies on being the only 4 star hotel in this area, and it doesn't matter to them if your experience wasn't so great. Would I go back? Maybe. But I'd get the cheaper regular room, make sure I checked in early in the evening so I have plenty of time to call if anything is wrong with the room, and I'd try not to expect too much from customer service. Or...I'd just go to Boston and stay in any one of the lovely boutique hotels where customer service is wonderful! read more

Located directly across from the Umass medical center (you probably can easily walk, but you do have to cross a major road), this little boutique hotel is a nice conveniently located place that I would recommend. It's on the pricier side but for the location next to the medical center (if that is in fact where you are visiting) I think you'll make out all right. Plenty of free parking and lots of restaurants just 5 min drive away. It's a little complicated how to actually get from the main road to the hotel. You have to drive through a curvy convoluted road to get to the main parking lot. From the outside you would think it's a straight shot, but no. Once you get there once it makes a lot more sense. read more

This hotel is so wonderful. It's beautiful and has a wonderful collection of lit stained glass windows. Rooms wonderful and complementary breakfast too! The rooms are clean and they have bath robes for your use and an automatic light in the closet. The only is they don't have a pool!! read more

Superior Hotel. The Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, MA is a great place to stay. I was there for 4 days during a business trip to the area. The people are very helpful and friendly; particularly James on the front desk. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. I always like fluffy dressing gowns in hotels, and the Beechwood ones are particularly cosy and comfortable. The restaurant has a good menu with a focus on seafood, and the atmosphere & service very good. The "continental breakfast" which came free with a coupon is a little sparse; just the bare necessities. But there is a full breakfast menu for an additional charge. If you find yourself in Worcester and want to do better than the run-of-the-mill business places, I would highly recommend the Beechwood. read more

I booked a room at the Beechwood Hotel without knowing anything about it-- I was looking for a nice hotel in Worcester for a weekend getaway for myself and my husband. The reservation process was painless, and though we were looking forward to starting our weekend, we had a few errands to run before heading to Worcester. I was concerned about the late hour, but the front desk staff was courteous when I called, and assured me there would be someone here and that all reservations are guaranteed. So we could relax, have a late dinner and a few drinks, and not have to worry. When we arrived, the front desk staff was friendly, warm, helpful and amazing. We found the bartender in Ceres and the drinks to be fantastic, as well. The rooms are very nice, very technologically up-to-date without being so sleek and modern that they are spartan. For a hotel this nice, the rates are well below what I've come to expect in the greater Boston area. The in-room computer system has made finding directions, ordering amenities and room service, and other travel necessities EXTREMELY easy. We will definitely be back here for a quick weekend getaway. read more

While passing through on way to Boston, we stayed at the Beechwood hotel. The front of the hotel was not too impressive and it was difficult to find even with a GPS. The town does not have a lot to do. We were very impressed with the restaurant inside the hotel. The food was expensive but the very good. The hotel room was clean but the A/C was slightly noisy. The man at the front desk was checking customers in and answering the phone at the same time which was very annoying. If they hired more front desk people to help this would really help. Hotel was overall slightly above average, clean, but needs some renovations. If you stay here, eat at the Ceres Bistro. read more

The food at Ceres was mediocre. Ordered the rib-eye done medium rare. It arrived well done, and took far to long to replace, and when it did finally come, it was very rare. The cut was also a low quality on both, not worth the $32 or $33 they charge for it. For dessert I order the raspberry chocolate cake, it tasted like a frozen grocery store one. Hard and dry. The service for dinner was very good however. During breakfast, we came down around 9:40am for the continental breakfast that was included. There were open cleaned and set-up tables, but the hostess said they were very busy and it would take about 15 minutes. We did tell her we were there for the continental breakfast, which is mostly a buffet (not the downstairs larger buffet,m but the small one in Ceres). There were at least 3 waitresses and maybe 7 tables sat up there. She finally sat us about 20 minutes later, and told us the buffet was only till 10:00 am (it was 9:59). We explained we where there 20 minutes ago but just got sat. She said they could fill it up a bit more. There are much better options in the area in their price range. read more

I stayed here for one night and I really liked how people that work here very friendly plus the hotel and my room was very clean my bed was very comfortable I really like the way this hotel is set up with a nice decore and ambiance . complementary breakfast was great the only thing is I wish they had a spa because I was in need for massage. read more

This was conference provided housing, boy did they miss the mark. The fitness center is next door to a guest room which means you are woken every morning by the sounds other guests working out. The housekeepers are ready to go at 7AM and are committed to getting you out for the day. Skip the continental breakfast, most of the time there were no plates or clean tables - wait staff just stands there and stares at you. Front desk staff gets annoyed when you ask for anything. When I checked in, the clerks acted as if I was interrupting there duties. The attitude of the staff was a real turn off. Only plus was the lounge, where the service was extremely slow but the alcohol selection was decent. read more

This hotel has to get rid of their rooms manager, initials are A.M. He was extremely rude. This hotel was a complete mess. Rugs being ripped up in front of all the customers in the hotel. Drilling, hammering, banging happening all day and night. A ton of guests were extremely upset, losing sleep and unable to just relax in their room. In addition, A.M decided it wasn't necessary to notify the guests that the gym was being remodeled and I saw over a dozen people trying to work out and unfortunately having no idea the gym was closed. It makes me laugh to think this is a four star hotel. Clearly need to be reassessed. The take the coffee away from the guests at 9 o'clock in the morning so make sure to get it quick. I simply asked if there would be a discount for all the construction going on and the gym being closed. He literally laughed at me saying No. I will never be back here and avoid this hotel. Stay somewhere cheaper and you will save money and have a better experience! read more

Easter brunch was nothing but a FLOP! Where do I start. As you first walk down the stairs to the brunch buffet I expected to be wowed with the set up! As far as the eye catching set up goes it was a total let down! So as we where escorted to our table by a young man. The set up was standard and nothing to polished. As we browsed the buffet line I couldn't help but notice the lack of detail to the simple things. IE severing spoons missing tongs no toaster for the bagel section and so forth. From here I hate to say this but the food was not the freshest. They had a beet salad and I love beets and it was a total let down! Canned beets really! from here I moved on to another item that is one of my favorites being shrimp! What a let down this was.. They where pre frozen and thawed out to be mushy! Once again let down! From here I went to the carving station where I was not let down at all! They had prime rib, lamb and ham and it was all perfect. Then again this is just basic cooking. other items that where on the buffet line like the smoked salmon where ok but once again the quality was lacking. For $40.00 I was expecting something more but then again we are still out in the country. As far as the service goes well that was a joke! They had plenty of bodies but the main problem is that most of them where students from a tech Scholl who truly needed to be polished! Hands in pockets is a big no no and over all appearance of staff was well slobs! Once again for forty dollars a head I was totally let down. It just seemed to me that this buffet was put together at the last moment and for got about the details! So in the end I would never go back! If I had my family from out of town with me I would have been embarrassed. If this is one of the finest Worcester has to offer then the god help us!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This hotel was probably one of the better that we've ever stayed at. We have to check in extremely late at 2 a.m. in the morning for my boyfriend's dad's funeral we stayed there one week and it was perfect. When we got there Sunday night or Monday morning we got to meet one of the front desk people who his name was Phil this man was so sweet and so entertaining and very philosophical so he's known as dr. Phil we probably stayed another half hour just talking to him before we even checked in. The rest of the staff was very friendly courteous sympathetic and helpful. The breakfast buffet was a little lacking but you could purchase eggs and bacon and pancakes like a upgrade for cheap. We had dinner at the steakhouse and it was very very good. the room was very nice clean comfortable. The decor was very pretty comfortable they have a fireplace you can sit in front of. They have a lot of weddings there that's a nice place for that but they don't have a pool they have a small gym. Thank you for a lovely stay. It's going to be the only place we'll stay in Worcester. They could teach bigger  chains how to take care of their guests. read more
