For entrees we ordered cold smoked grilled pork chop, grilled salmon, seared scallops and prime rib. All in good portions and well matched with delicious sides. The chocolate cake was great and the cheesecake was ambitious and interesting but a little too much goat cheese for us. The service was attentive, prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed dining experience. This is seriously great dining in Marlborough.

"There's a beautiful full moon rising Above the mansion on…read morethe hill" (Bruce Springsteen) We just came back from a wedding at this gorgeous mansion. It was built during the Roaring Twenties and its magnificence sure reminded me of the mansions I've seen in Newport, RI. There is a grand foyer at the main entrance where you'll see a gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There is Italian marble flooring, oak and mahogany wood trim everywhere, artwork on the walls and on the furniture, a music room with a piano, and six bedrooms, There are gardens, a reflecting pool, even a gazebo, so the photo opportunities are endless. We started with a cocktail hour under a tent and enjoyed fruit and crudities and then passed hors d'oeuvres, such as Caprese skewers, goat cheese and honey filled strawberries, shrimp and more. The cocktail hour continued as we moved inside and even more hors d'oeuvres came parading out of the kitchen. Dinner was served in the Fountain View Room - its big enough to hold 275 guests in a sit-down dinner and their dance floor is 750 square feet big! The food was excellent, and so was the ice cream bar that offered every known accompaniment under the sun. On our wedding day they really tended to our every need. This venue really goes above and beyond. They offer so much more than other venues. When booking your wedding you also have the option to rent out rooms at the estate. The estate also has a bridal party hair and makeup house (called the rose cottage). At the estate it is set up with a grooms man wing and a bridal wing with the Spanish room meeting at the center. So you and your bridesmaids get ready at the rose cottage and then head over to the garden room in the bridal wing. This room has glass windows that can overlook when your guests arrive for your ceremony. I love it! Jasmine allowed us an early checking for hair and makeup at the rose cottage and from the second we arrived she was on it! Bringing up fruit plates and wine/champagne (which you order in advance but it is reasonable). This alone was so nice. No need to get ready at a hotel and shuttle the wedding party over. I brought quite a bit of decorations and the Harding Allen Estate team did a fantastic job at setting this all up, this included my own plates and cups which they washed and repackage. I was shocked to find all my decorations were wrapped the exact way I brought them. There was so much attention to detail. We also had a few food allergies and they were able to accommodate for both the wedding and the rehearsal dinner, and it was delicious! We used the in house catering because we had a smaller wedding. This is truly a family run establishment, some of the people on staff who weren't related to Jasmine and Suzy were also related. It truly felt like a family, the staff was so kind and respectful. For the wedding we used DJ fusion who has done many weddings at the Estate and he did a great job. For photographer we used Amanda Adams Photography (the pictures attached to this review are screen shots from our wedding video, just a family member with a camera. Amanda shot one of them which is pretty easy to tell which one). Jasmine does a fantastic job and two weeks before your wedding you're really a priority for her and she does respond pretty quickly but if its prior to 2 weeks before your wedding you may have to wait for a response. Honestly getting married at the Harding Allen Estate was the best decision we made. It was such a dream. I think this is going to be one of the top wedding venues in New England, especially with all the extras you get (bridal hair and makeup area, after party for you and the guests staying at the venue, vintage car, beautiful separate cocktail, ceremony and reception areas, the gardens, the breakfast the next morning). I highly recommend this venue.

BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!…read more I had my daughter's baptism reception here in September 2016 and was appalled with the service. I will say my booking experience was great. The director of sales, Michelle was a very pleasant woman who worked with my budget and was so accommodating. The day of the event I met the event coordinator who swore would help my event run smoothly. I cannot remember her name, but I will never forget her. Around 6 o'clock this woman asked me to kick my guests out. Our contract said the event would last until 6pm with the option to extend an hour. Naturally, I asked her if we could extend the event the extra hour. She said that I could not and a time extension has to be planned weeks in advance. What? How would I know weeks ahead of time if my guest would like to stay longer? I have never heard of this before. She advised me that I should refer to the contract, which does not mention anything about extending the time. After this conversation, I went to the private room to breastfeed my daughter. This woman barged in the room and continued to yell at me for guests not leaving. I was harassed by her while exposed and trying to privately feed my child. Who does that? I was in shock! Lastly, one of my guests got severe food poisoning from the fish and had to be hospitalized. I will never host an event here again and neither will any of my guests.

A woman who appeared to be some type of manager asked the children twice to make sure they did not run around, as though there were no parents present to address their behavior. We completely understood the request. In reality, the children only ran around for about two minutes on two occasions during the entire dinner. Despite this, what made us uncomfortable was the way she repeatedly walked around our table, making visible expressions of disappointment and disapproval. At the time, the Grille Room was very quiet, with only one other table and a couple seated at the bar before another party of five arrived. We certainly understand that children need to behave appropriately in a restaurant, but families should still be made to feel welcome, especially when celebrating a special occasion. Unfortunately, the experience left us feeling as though our presence was a problem simply because we had a young child with us. Perhaps for our next birthday celebration, we will take our business somewhere that feels more welcoming to families.

During the mid-20th Century, other newer venues overtook it as the favored place to host events. Thus, it was rented out for professional wrestling matches, roller skating, basketball, dance lessons, 4-H club meetings, etc. Neglect took a serious toll on the health of the Hall, but, when the decision was finally forced to tear it down or to revitalize it, the entire city rallied, raising $5 million to restore the Hall. The Hall is rented out for many purposes, and by many organizations. On this particular Saturday evening, Mechanics Hall was in use by Music Worcester (https://www.musicworcester.org), featuring a performance by Chanticleer. Chanticleer was founded in 1978 and is renowned as "an orchestra of voices" for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices ranging from countertenor to bass and its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, to gospel and new music. It was a great performance in a majestic venue.
