We had our ceremony at the top of a hill overlooking a scenic New England field and pond. The reception was in a beautiful field under a big tree for shade. And for those worried about unsteady grandparents, there were easy ways to help them get around. Everything was beautiful, a real classic New England farm. Then, the decorations! Every small detail was perfect. All of the flowers were fresh from Wendy's garden and the arrangements were PERFECT. The signage and table settings were gorgeous and involved freshly stripped bark with calligraphied names of all of our guests. There were blankets on the back of all of the chairs for when it got chillier at night! Seriously, Wendy thought of everything. And last, but certainly not least, Wendy! You couldn't ask for a better planner, friend, and kind soul. She has been a wedding planner for decades and now she and her husband run the Phineas Wright House. I didn't stress once on the day of the wedding because I knew Wendy had it all under control. From the moment my husband and I started planning the wedding, she was alongside us supporting and cheering us on. I would often say "I'm so grateful for Wendy!" We had started our wedding planning with Wendy when we were going to have a 100 person wedding elsewhere, and by the end we had a 12 person, socially distanced wedding at her home, and honestly it was absolutely perfect. With the help of the small staff that runs the non-profit that cares for and rents out the building, we could not have asked for a more perfect place to host our guests and celebrate. The building itself used to be a barn, and was made into a building for scouts early in the 20th century. As such, it is gorgeous inside: the support beams and trusses are exposed, and they keep the floor in stunning condition for the dancers who rent the building several times a week. Along the sides of the building, the two-story windows cast a perfect light in the room. As a venue for our reception, we were comfortably snug at about 110 guests. The tables and chairs for that many fit fine, but leaving room for a dance floor, a bar, and a buffet was a challenge. It would be a gorgeous venue for a wedding ceremony, but we couldn't fit both wedding and reception with that many people. With 50 or 60 guests, it would have done perfectly. They have enough chairs and tables for all of our guests, as well as a stage you can use. The administrator, Lois, was very easy to work with. She communicated with me clearly and gave us good suggestions on how to best utilize the space. The two staff members who cleaned before and after the party were very helpful as well. We were very pleased with the whole experience, and our guests raved about how great the venue was. We would absolutely book another event here.

I attended a class reunion there on Saturday for the lovely wife and they did an excellent job. * Large convenient parking lot. * Everywhere was spotless including immaculate bathrooms. * Large dance floor. * Beautiful fully stocked bar that you can purchase as needed. * Large fully equipped kitchen to support the caterer you use. The organizers of this reunion did what might be typical. 1. They rented the hall and included a bartender for a cash bar. 2. They had a catered meal from a local restaurant. 3. They brought in a local cover band. The end result was about 70 folks had a great time! This is definitely a place to check out if you need to book an event in the area.

We had a great time in Millbury and this historic house was a wonderful site to visit. Its history and upkeep would alone be something to write home about, but the grounds are lovely - particularly about 200 feet behind the home, where it is, as Frost said, "lovely, dark and deep" - and this place has some history! Many famous American orators of the 19th century came through the Asa Waters Mansion including Thoreau, Emerson and Gough. It is a must-visit location in Millbury. They also have a really nice, little gift shop!

The wood-paneled setting of the main room seems to encourage our event attendees (mostly workshops) to feel comfortable speaking or brainstorming. One of the reasons that our organization uses Edwards House whenever possible is because we do not have to use outside caterers, and the dinners we've had at Edwards House have easily stayed within budget and been much more satisfying and appreciated (by our attendees) than catered meals. The staff has been very easy to work with, and set-up and clean-up are always taken care of with no hassle.

The sleeping arrangements were comfortable and clean. The only thing we had a problem with was we had way to many women who wanted to come and therefore had to have some stay off site. Not the end of the world, but did break up the flow and connectivity, but wouldn't keep us from going back.
