    Fried Chicken Sando
    Generous Y.

Delicious. I ordered two items and wanted more even though I was satisfied. Box Kitchen is a separate window shop next to a bar, I saw a few individuals physically exit the bar to order so I guess they're not connected? Surprisingly, the food is fairly cheap given the bar next door and being in SF. Special shoutout to Josh K, you're a stud. Chicken & Waffle - one of the best chicken and waffles I've had. Important distinction that they use thigh here and breast in the sando. Chicken here is juicier as a result and so tender. Flavor packed, crispy edges, and there was just a perfect saltiness throughout the center. It's also lightly breaded which helps the chicken itself shine instead of masking it through a thick layer. Waffles were also fluffy and not dry. Together, an amazing combination. On their own, also phenomenal. I'd order two of these next time. Fried Chicken Sando - chicken breast instead of thigh which is a bit rougher and less tender than the chicken & waffle, but it's still very juicy! A solid chicken sandwich that feels unique with a basil pesto sauce. I much preferred the chicken & waffle, but if that wasn't an option, this would be a very safe comfort.

We are huge fans of fried chicken sandwiches, and I have to say Box's chicken sandwich is a solid win. Nicely sauced, good crunch, and a solid amount of chicken. It's also pretty nice that the area across the street is a community park, and a nice place to sit down and enjoy food. A nice place for a late night snack (which is rare to find in SF!)

Nice dive bar for the area! I stopped by here to get lunch around 11:30 am while visiting the area. I ordered the chicken nuggets which tasted great but was a smaller portion than I expected. I also ordered the potato skins with pork belly and quail egg- which tasted interested! It was filling but I feel it was missing something- maybe salt? It tasted a little bland I was recommended to get the burgers but I wanted something quick to eat so next visit when I have more free time I'll try it out! I am not a big drinker but I'm sure the drinks are good here

The service was great, We walked two miles to get there and it was so worth it!! The two miles back were OK since we had our bellies full with this GOOD food, we were ready for a nap lol. We also ordered some tacos and a salad. Loved the fact that we had a buzzer and were able to comfortably sit across the street while we waited. 10/10 recommend!

I've been to tempest many times but this was my first time trying the food. And its become an incentive for me to return to tempest. The burger was cooked perfectly medium rare and seasoned well, the bun was soft and had sprinkles of corn meal on top. No complaints about the fries. The diff components blended so well when you take a bite. Soft bread, soft meat, perfectly seasoned and cooked to the right temp. Would totally recommend if ur a burger lover. Potato skins exceeded my expectations. My bf kept telling me to try but I didn't think they'd be anything special. They're potato skins! But these ones were really yummy. In lieu of bacon, they use chunky lardons of pork belly. Charred scallion cream, and melty Gouda added nice creamy texture. Finally they topped it was w fried quail egg. That final yoke bite w crema and pork belly. Chefs kiss. Corn and cream chowder. Really good!! thick and creamy- but not too creamy where it taste like milk soup. Also got some nice chunks of meaty clam. The fresh pops of corn kernels were delicious. I'd recommend if you're looking for a hearty chowder. The fried saltines were way better than plain saltines out of the box. Pastrami and lengua tacos were surprisingly underwhelming given their delicious other dishes. Nothing tasted bad, but missed that extra pizazz the other dishes had. I would skip on the future. Overall im totally coming back to try the rest of their menu!!

The BUN! oh dear lord - soggy disgusting on one side, so rock hard crusty I broke through it with my fingers. Awful

Oh man, who got bored and threw this mess together tonight. My partner and I were the unfortunate receivers of this horrendous excuse for a burger. WOW, and to think i RAVED about this burger for years (see my last review from 7 years ago) along the way. Now that he lives in SF, I figured why not bless the move with a nostalgic taste of the iconic Box Burger. Sure, maybe it was the rough week that I had, but I went on a brief rant to my [chef] bf about whatever we just bit into. He agreed. I was sooo excited to bite into what I remembered to be THE juiciest, freshest burger I'd ever tasted - wow, one bite and I damn near spit it out, I'm sorry you guys. What happened? I'll upload pics - did you guys just think throwing old crusty buns onto a quick grill would fly? How bout cooking the meat so very poorly and unevenly - 3/4 of the inside was pink, 1/4 was well done. We requested medium well. Omg, the poor shallots - what happened to the crispy deliciousness?! It was a soppy mess of an overly A-1 tasting mess of a goo plastered onto the top of the bun (almost as if it'd been sitting out from a previous order earlier in the day and just got reheated?!). What in the heck?! Listen, I'm not asking for perfection or exactly the same as before- but this was beyond words the poorest meal I'd ever received. LITERALLY tossed it. And we were starving, drove out 25 minutes for a craving after a long day's work of moving and installing. I want my $ back. This should NOT have been served. What a shame. $25 down the drain? We picked it up within 15 minutes of ordering! Please see photos.

In my experience, nothing hits the spot after a day of coast-to-coast travel quite like a greasy meal. When a colleague suggested Box Kitchen, I was all in after a quick glance of the menu. We walked from a few blocks away and there were certainly a lot of characters hanging around, which is to be expected in this area of SF. We didn't realize that it's part of Tempest, a fave late night watering hole for some of my coworkers, so just look for the bar entrance and you're good to go! I got the Box Burger which has white cheddar cheese, bacon shallot gastrique, arugula, spinach, tomato and crispy shallot rings on a potato pepper bun. You can choose between fries and a house salad, so I got a salad because #balance. The burger was super solid and the salad was pretty decent for being inside a bar. They have heartier salads on the menu though, so know that you can be healthy-ish here if you're so inclined. The service was nothing to write home about which is what took this away from five stars... Our waitress didn't really check on us which made it hard to get drink refills, the check, etc.

It was around $30 after tax, which was a hefty price for a sandwich that could be a bit heftier, but I kind of expected that for arena prices. The sandwich was so good. It really was the perfect lunch for a baseball game with the sun shining and the beautiful bay view.
