I wish I'd known that online preorders opened the night before, because when I ordered in the morning before driving up, they were rapidly selling out of things. Bags were piled up in the window when I arrived, but my pickup was reasonably quick. The selection of baked goods that I tried smelled fantastic. The texture on the cookies was a bit too dry for me; I much prefer a chewy cookie. Some sort of cinnamon-sugar covered creation was the best of the lot. Some were quite flaky and messy. I'm just gonna go ahead and throw this out there: the word shwae is not a good enough word to describe the awesomeness of this place. These pastries are THE PERFECT combination of flaky, crunchy, and moist. I probably won't have a better crescent until I travel to Europe again. My favorite was the ham and cheese crescent. The blackberry was a close second. PSA: if you want pastries you must come early because otherwise you'll be out of luck and the line can get pretty long... Boulted is DANK. Glad we decided to stop by on a Saturday morning. During COVID-19, they are open for pick-up. Online ordering is easy and you add to the comment box what time you want to pick up the order. The online menu is updated so that you know what is available and if they are running low on anything. We ordered for an 8:30 am pick-up. Our order was ready upon arrival and was accurate. The employees are friendly and via their website they make it clear how to order and what is customizable (e.g. time of pick-up). We ordered: Ham and cheese croissant ($5.25)- too buttery, overpowered the flavor of the cheese and ham, filling 8 piece pastry box ($31) - delicious, good option if you want to try a variety of their pastries however you only save $0.50 so if you do not want certain items in this box, I suggest ordering the pastries separately. The chocolate croissant was my favorite since it had a good balance of pastry to chocolate. The pastries filled with jam were similarly balanced and delicious. The plain croissants made filling, tasty sandwiches. The morning bun was very sweet and good - similar to a cinnamon roll. We went to this place based on a friend's recommendation and we were so glad we did. Their breads are to die for. If you're craving good bread, look no further!!! I highly recommend trying their Nordic Rye bread- it's dense and so filling and baked to perfection. Another one I recommend is Kid's loaf. They freeze pretty well too. My favorite bakery, hands down. Parking is easy, on the side of the building. I have had several of their bread options, Whole Wheat, Seeded, Levain, and Ciabatta. They don't slice the bread, it's not hard to slice at home. I use it for breakfast (best toast of your life)or with soup. It's incredible. I have seen some reviews saying to order ahead or come early, but we came at around 11am on a Friday and it was not busy at all. There was also a good amount of items to choose from. The building has no indoor seating, but it does have a couple tables outside. Due to the current spring pollen, they where a bit dirty. ( nice outdoor area for when pollen season is over) The gravel/rock parking lot is very small, and I should warn that when you are leaving there is a deep dip between the lot and curb. Came here last weekend while visiting my friend! I've been eyeing this place for months and on this visit we were making plans! During covid, you need to preorder the day before at 6:00 pm! Things sell out so make sure you you get on sooner rather than later! (6:00 pm is when preorders open!) So when I got on the site, there was breads, pastries, and etc. So many choices! I had to try everything! Unfortunately, there was only 4 of us so we didn't order the whole menu but we wanted to! We quartered each item and judged it! Favorites will be listed below. Breads we got the levain, which is their sourdough, and a baguette! Both had crispy exteriors and soft interiors. Yum! The sourdough was sour but not overly acidic! We had the baguette with a homemade charcuterie board with assorted meats and cheese. It was the perfect vessel! Savory Pastries we got the ham and cheese croissant, everything croissant, their ham and cheese bialy and sesame bialy. The crowd favorite was definitely the everything croissant. Then the ham and cheese croissant. There was mixed feelings on the bialy, I actually liked it but others had a problem with the texture being too chewy and not having enough filling. It's a polish like bagel. Bagels are meant to be chewier. It's all preference! Sweet pastries we got the morning bun, pull apart bread, apple turnover, Apple money bread (forgot to photo), raspberry pinwheel croissant, and pain au chocolat. Crowd favorite was morning bun but the pull apart bread and pain au chocolat was close! We weren't the biggest fans for the Apple turnover but two of us don't like anise and I think there was a big presences of it in there. Once again, it's all about preference! I would advertise you to do something similar to this! Get a couple pastries and split them among yourselfs so you can get the best of all worlds! read more

I have been visiting Boulted Bread for over two years, and I am a devoted customer. Over this period I've had the luxury of trying so many of their sweet treats and breads. I want to start by saying everything I've ever had here is delicious, but I do have favorites. Number 1 being their magnificent morning buns. They are delicately made with love, and more importantly, orange zest. By eating one you turn a good day into a great day. Other items I enjoy include: ham&cheese croissant, seeded levain, everything croissant, muscadine croissant and so much more. I also want to take a moment to applaud them for their COVID-19 safety measures. You must place an online order before picking up your item in front of the shop, and by doing this they've kept their business booming. This time last year, I remember waiting outside in line for their pastries because everyone loves Boulted Bread. Lastly, this is just a great place to visit. The people that work there are nice. However, when I walked in with my mother we noticed that all breads on display besides a very very few, were all burnt! Not just the bread, some of the pastries too (bread pudding for example). Baked goods shouldn't be burnt. If that is for an aesthetic , it's not worth the downside of the compromised flavor. The ciabatta bread had no taste as well. I was so excited to come here, but pretty disappointed and confused by all the pictures on here of very burnt bread with captions stating that it is amazing. Bread was not overcooked, it was burned! Tasted like burned toast! Buns were also burned and had way too much sugar, but still did not hide the burned taste. Wanted to share the flavors with our local vendors, but will throw it all into the trash can. Do not see how that could be an enjoyable flavor. Understand why the packaged it all up before giving it to us as we would not have payed for it if we had seen it! Ok, I don't know when or why burning pastries and bread became trendy. I myself won't turn my nose up for a well toasted piece of bread every once and a while but all of the baked goods I've gotten here have been burnt to a crisp. Even upon entering into the bakery your smacked in the face with the smell of char. I know that it's been scientifically proven leaving bread longer in the oven can bring of flavor but these are just burnt. It's unfortunate because many talented bakers work there but it seems like their skills and expertise are wasted on this style of baking.
