I took my car into Boulder Hybrids for a Tbone repair. I needed a new side door for the passenger side, and some cosmetic help with the back door, and rear as well. They did a great job cosmetically but I did have to bring it back to fix what they had missed- not working passenger door, seatbelt, or back passenger window. Not ideal if you don't live in the Boulder area- as we're about an hour away- but it was repaired and for that I 'm grateful. read more

Paul is an honest mechanic. When I brought my Prius to him with an unknown issue, he discovered that the problem was covered completely by Toyota's warranty/recall program. So what does he do? He arranges to have my vehicle delivered to the dealership to have it fixed, free of charge. I went to these guys after my friend told me about them. I needed an additional key fob made for my Lexus (non-hybrid) car. As I was in the shop I could over hear someone that had come into the shop about a job. The shop made it clear to this person that they have a reputation to hold up and they don't run a shady operation. I couldn't agree more. Even though I only needed an additional key made, Paul re-keyed both of my key fobs so the previous owner wouldn't be able to start the car in case they retained a key fob. He took out the door lock and made a perfect replica of the original key by using the code on the lock rather than trying to copy the key. In addition, he took his time and he demonstrated exactly how the key fobs work. I raved to my friend how good I thought these guys are. I highly recommend Boulder Hybrids if you have a Prius. I was driving cross country and backed into a small ditch when I arrived in Boulder. This happened over the weekend, and I was concerned about finding an auto body shop that would be open. (I was planning to leave Boulder on Monday) Paul responded to me right away, and he looked at the car on Sunday and fixed it by 1pm on Monday. Not only did he fix the damage from the ditch, he also helped me with my tires and found a leak in the water pump. He showed me the issue, which was underneath the pump & so I saw it with a mirror. My own auto body shop in LA missed it when I got my car inspected before I left. His prices were reasonable and fair, and his knowledge and responsiveness is top notch. I cannot say enough about this repair shop and the customer service we received! My son was scheduled to play the cello in a state 22 hrs from our own home state. We decided to drive instead of fly and make it a mini vacation/road trip. En route our 2008 Prius had a hybrid battery failure. (It was miraculous that we broke down only 15 minutes from Paul's shop and thank God we did!) It was the BEST service! Paul went the proverbial "second mile" to assist us, fit us into his day's schedule, installed a new battery and got us out and back on the road within a couple hours! It was a very hot day and the cello had to remain in moderate temperatures to avoid damage. That was no problem. Paul kept the cello for us in his air-conditioned office while repairs were being completed. Our son was able to make it in time to practice and play with the other musicians because of his considerate and fast service!! For this we cannot say thank you enough. On our way back to our home state we had two other car problems. (our car has over 200k & all of these repairs came within a few days. Lol ‍) Paul was extremely helpful in instructing us what we needed to do when we were in a desperate situation in the middle of Kansas and no mechanics that could help. On our trip back home, we stopped by his shop again for one of the secondary issues we were having. This time we consider his help as going the third and fourth mile in getting our car into great condition to complete our journey with no more break downs! He explained to us why the inverter coolant pump also went out (which seems to be common in extreme temperatures). Paul was honest, open, and did not surprise us with any extra or hidden costs. His prices were fair and much less than the quotes from the dealership. We are deeply grateful we found Paul's shop. I heard about Boulder Hybrids from a real Prius enthusiast in Longmont about 2 years ago and have had Paul and crew do the regular/routine service on my 2008 over these last 2 years. Good, honest, customer oriented auto repair shops are hard to find, but Boulder Hybrids is at the top of the list - not only did I get the service promised in a timely manor, sometimes there were other options involved in the repair and these options were clearly explained as well as sound advice (vs hype) on how to best keep the car in optimal condition. I was in the process of driving across the country (from Maryland to Seattle) when my 2009 Prius suddenly had a lot of difficulty getting up the mountains of Colorado. Paul responded to my voicemail before the shop had even opened on Monday morning and gave me a few tips over the phone to try before driving an hour to come in. Needed some work on our 06 Highlander Hybrid. Had heard about these guys and after reading reviews was sold on them. Needed a new hybrid battery, new spark plugs and new brakes and rotors all around. Was hesitant at first to drop so much money on a vehicle with 135000 but after talking to Paul we decided it was worth it. All repairs went great up to the rear brakes which caused some headaches. They were able to locate some additional parts just before 5pm and the tech (super nice guy) stayed until 630 and finished the job. Seriously awesome as I had to get back up to Breckenridge. Hanging out with Paul and eating Swedish fish while the tech wrapped it up was great. Paul and his crew really know their hybrids. Will never take it anywhere else. I thought I'd provide a bit more detail of my experiences w/BHC: My aux. battery finally went out in early 2012 (after 155K miles, so I at least "got my $'s worth out of it"). The dealer wanted $5K to replace the whole thing, which made me laugh & cry at the same time ... ! Boulder Hybrids installed a rebuilt (and improved) battery, used the original battery's internal computer (which was still working fine, but the dealer wanted to also replace that "just in case"), charged less than half of what the dealer wanted, and guaranteed their work for 2 years. It's still working flawlessly ... I've since been back to BHC for all of my other service, and look forward to having them take care of My Beloved Prius for its next 150K miles ... :-) read more

My husband and I recently bought our second used Prius and just had it serviced at Boulder Hybrids. We had our other Prius worked on a bit ago and had a wonderful experience, so we had the preference to take our next car there as well. There is a backstory to this second Prius as it had several fixes that needed to be made when we purchased it. We bought it anyways because we were able to get it for such a low price and didn't mind putting some money into it to make it fit our needs. We also knew we had a fabulous mechanic to work with to make this car work for us! Going into the sale, we knew the car was going to need four things right away: 1) New actuators on all four doors. 2) A new antenna base and installation (it was broken, so the radio didn't work). 3) A new oil pan (the oil pan - not the screw - was stripped by a chain mechanic the seller took it to to get the oil changed). 4) Potentially a new 12v battery (not the hybrid battery). We live almost an hour away from Boulder Hybrids, so we did shop around to get estimates of what the work would cost and to see if we could find a place that was closer to us to get our cars worked on. We had doubts, but we took it to a local shop about 5 min. from our house, and they told us several things that didn't actually pan out to be true and installed a new battery in the car for twice what Boulder Hybrids charged us in the end! They told us the battery would fix the doors, which was a nice surprise, but it wasn't true. We immediately took the car back to them and had them uninstall the battery and refund our money. It didn't feel right, and I just didn't trust them the way I trust Paul and his team at Boulder Hybrids. We quickly accepted the fact that we were going to be traveling a bit to get top-notch service from a trustworthy hybrid mechanic, and we made the call that day. Paul was able to give us general estimates of what all of these repairs would cost, and his prices were half of what anyone had quoted us!! He was able to find us used parts which was a tremendous help because we are expecting a baby and have the necessity to be quite frugal lately. He was understanding of what we needed and was able to get us into the shop in a timely manner that was convenient for us since we live so far away. He offered to lend us a car for the day and he was honest and upfront about how long the work would take to be completed. We picked the car up the next day, and it was in excellent condition! Everything was fixed and worked wonderfully, and best of all, it was all done within our budget!!! Paul was even able to tell us some extra information about the car just by looking at it. He informed us that our hybrid battery was actually fairly new for the age of the car and was a genuine Toyota battery. These are the kinds of things you will get from Boulder Hybrids: special knowledge of hybrid cars, quick and efficient service because they are so familiar with the cars they work on, and friendly service. They will work with you to fix things and find used parts so you can remain on a budget if that is important to you, and they will be honest with you when it comes to what really needs to be fixed and how much it should cost you. This is our go-to shop for our two hybrids from now on, and my dad has even said he will begin taking his car there (a Lincoln MKZ hybrid). I don't care how far you live from this shop! A trustworthy and fair mechanic is invaluable, and that is what we have found here at Boulder Hybrids. I actually kind of hate writing this review because I feel like we have a little gem of a secret that we have found, and I don't want to share it! At the same time, I want them to be in business forever because they are awesome!! So go here no matter how far away you live!!! You will not regret it. P.S. A day or two after my service, I was driving and noticed this horrific squeaking noise as I was driving and braking. I called Paul at Boulder Hybrids, and they got me in the same day to take a look. I was worried something was terribly wrong. I went to the coffee shop next door while they took a look, and Paul walked in 10 minutes later saying it was a pebble stuck in the brakes or something. Handed me the keys and said it was no big deal and I was set to go! He didn't charge me to take the pebble out, and it only took like 15 minutes from start to finish for them to diagnose the problem and remedy it! Can you say that about any other mechanic? These guys are awesome. We took our Highlander Hybrid here to get a hitch put on and it was almost half the price of other shops around town. They put it on in less than an hour and were very professional. They checked our oil while they were at it and Paul gave me a heads up on a software emissions glitch that only applies to our year's make. These guys know their stuff! These guys know their cars. Not tied to the company line, they replaced the original 12-volt battery in my 2003 Prius with one cheaper and more powerful than that specified by Toyota, using a conversion kit. Plus they have York Peppermint Patties in the office. read more

Paul and Boulder Hybrids are amazing. Paul is clearly a hybrid expert and fixed my Prius that was crushed by a tree and made it like new. My son bought a used Prius from a client of Paul's last April and upon delivery, Paul had put in new brakes, just to be helpful! Then when we were up in Seattle, WA, the car had a problem... flashing lights on the dash saying to bring it to the dealer. The dealer wanted FIVE Thousand dollars to fix it! Since it was a 2005, we didn't know what to do. We called Paul and he found someone to bring it back to Boulder on a truck for 600 dollars. Paul proceeded to fix it... the Toyota dealer's diagnosis was completely wrong and Paul fixed the car and didn't charge us anything. It now runs beautifully. read more
