We were very excited to try the Boudin clam chowder and tomato soup bread bowls. We also decided to try the French dip sandwich. Our excitement turned to disappointment very quickly; very low quality food, in my opinion. I mean I'm no chef or food guru and I'm surely not out to make anyone look bad but this was a slap in the face at a hefty price. No thanks Boudin read more

So nice to have a taste of the Bay Area in Irvine. Always enjoyed their clam chooser in a sour dough bread bowl. Last time, I had their Turkey sandwich. Today it was their roast beef au jus on sour dough sliced bread. Ordered ahead online and picked it up on the way home. read more

I simply love anything they offer in a Bread Bowl. This time around I had the Beef Stew. The flavor was delightful and very tasty, the beef melted in your mouth with the veggies the same. Not salty, but just enough salt to accentuate the beef flavor in the stew. This is good, because most stews and soups can be very salty. This was a great dinner dish, very filling as it came with a side salad mixed with the right amount of vinaigrette that was tangy but not killer tangy. The top of the Bread Bowl is toasted with butter and garlic. Yummmmmy! I asked for more butter for the bread top. Service was fast, friendly, and professional. What you would expect from a Boudin SF. Parking is a pain because it shares parking spaces with Krave, Souplantation. and the Raddison Hotel. So coming during peak hours, drop off your party while you look for a parking space, you will walk! I will definitely return to this location during off-peak hours. Lam chowder was very good. Same as the Boudin in San Francisco on the wharf. Had a French dip which was delicious on the sourdough bread. Au jus had a nice spiciness flavor different from other more traditional types. Great service. Employees very friendly as well. read more

Nothing fresh, everything is pre-made or reheated. Terrible value for your money when there are fresher options.

Honestly the food here is good, but the service sucks. We ordered for pick-up online and arrived on time to grab our order. However, the parking here is scarce so finding a spot took us awhile. Once we approached the front door, it was locked. The staff stood there and just stared at us like idiots. Nobody came to open the door for us. It turns out that the only door that was open is the backdoor to the far corner of the restaurant, which is the exit. Why did they not put up a sign to use the other door and why did the staff not point that out to us instead of staring at us? It was rude and unprofessional. We will NOT be coming back here again. Boudin Irvine, please hire friendlier staff. read more

Tuna Melt. That's what you need to try here if you're a tuna lover! The bread and cheese and the blend of tuna is the absolute best combination of flavors that your palette will enjoy. The bread is toasted to perfection! With every bite you take, you're almost wishing this sandwich will never end. I come here a bit before the 11 o'clock lunch hour starts. It's never too busy at that time. Which is a plus because we order when we get here and have to wait a bit but it's worth it because it always tastes so fresh. Everyone here is very friendly and attentive. Although its not really table service because you order up front, they are always checking on you once they've brought your food to the table. So I guess it's like 75% table service. The parking in front of the location is very minimal but there is a lot right behind where you can find more spots. Next to the soy plantation. Sorry, no photos this time. My tummy is almost always too hungry to take pre pics lol read more

This review is based on one visit. I met a friend and former colleague for breakfast one morning. Parking was a nightmare as there are only a few spaces in front of the shop. The rest of the parking will be in the parking garage. In my experience the hotel parking overflowed into the shopping spaces for a 9:00 AM meet-up. I ordered the traditional breakfast served with eggs over-medium, potato wedges, bacon and sourdough toast with a coffee to drink. Breakfast is hard to get wrong and this was an average breakfast. The sourdough toast was good and as well as the coffee. The rest was OK. I have been to locations in San Francisco and Disney California Adventure where I had eaten lunch. I may return to this location in the future but came here based on a specific request. Hopefully the next visit will be for lunch. Three stars! read more

Boudin as a chain has always been a favorite but this specific location leaves much to be desired. Came here on 3/8/24 for a late dinner and should have walked out. A young lady with glasses (I assume a shift manager) was very visibly upset and berating other employees loudly as they went about their work. Constant exaggerated sighs and rude comments created a very toxic environment. Patron that were there at the time were visibly bothered. Won't be coming back to this location. read more

What an insulting disappointment. Ordered a French dip and broccoli cheddar soup. The sandwich was a joke. A single meager slice of roast beef on a sour dough baguette. And a literal plastic thimble full of cheese crumbs. The soup was just a salty greasy brine with zero flavor. I tossed it down the sink. Basically $23.00 for two meager slices of bread and a 6 ounce cup of flavorless crap. This was a Door Dash order. A rip-off pure and simple. No wonder the restaurant industry is in such trouble. There's no value in it. Don't waste your money in this place. The food is shit! Any reviews with more than 1 star have to be shill ratings. It can't be possible for anyone to be satisfied with this garbage. read more

The food was delicious at this place. My fiancée and I ordered the clam chowder sourdough bread bowl and the grilled cheese with bacon which also came with a salad. The sourdough bread bowl was a good temperature when it was served. The clam chowder was warm and fresh. The bread that was cut out from the bread bowl wasn't hard to chew. The bread was soft but not too soft either. The whipped butter that was served with it was the perfect texture with the bread as well. The grilled cheese bacon was good too. The cheese was savory and what I especially liked best was seeing the cheese ooze out from the bread. Again the bread was soft and fresh too. Adding the touch of bacon to the grilled cheese was the cherry on top. It was so savory, but not in an overwhelming kind of way. It was the type of savory that makes you want to take another bite. The ambience at this location was calm and peaceful. The server who brought our food over was friendly and gave us all the utensils we needed with our food. The service was pretty quick. There were several people inside and was not packed, but it was still pretty fast service. read more

Love their bread and food. Reuben sandwich is to die for. Perfect place for lunch or weeknight dinner. I would give them five stars BUT it's like a freezer in the restaurant. Seems the regular guests know that as everyone has parkas on, in Irvine! Please make the dining area warmer!!! read more

I walked into ghost town! 10/3/2023 at 3:35 pm. Although there was a young man working in the expo section, he never acknowledged me as I looked like I was searching for someone to come to the register. I was told to wait or use self order kiosk. Which I did because I was in a hurry. Two other ladies walked in behind me and also wondered what to do. I directed them. Maybe I should offer my services on how to handle customers when they walk in. Did he even care about his job? Ultimately I did get my food but then, good thing I checked my order (knowing he didn't care about my patronage). No spoon for my soup or butter for my bread. What is happening? Amazing food! Poor service! Oh and then there's an option for tips. Really?! read more

This location is really dead empty in the middle of the day. We literally saw a worker sleeping in one of the booths haha. (She was obviously on her break or maybe just tremendously bored because of the lull in customers). What we ate: 1 french dip and chili combo 1 roast beef and cheddar sandwich and clam chowder combo Bill was $29 French dip is served on sourdough bread with au jus. This was the best item we had. The au jus is AMAZING! They serve it with a side of horseradish that I highly suggest you mix into the au jus!!! Chili was cold. Maybe it didn't warm all the way through in the warmer. The top was fine, but soon after my first bite I realized it wasn't heated properly. We were going to ask someone to heat it but there was no one at the register when we went to ask. So we just opted to not eat it. Chowder was so disappointing! IT WAS RUNNY LIKE WATER. The consistency was not at all the creamy chowder I have had from Boudin in the past. It was under-salted for my taste as well. So sad. The roast beef and cheddar sandwich is also served on sourdough and it was meh. I think the sandwich would be better as a melt. They load it up with raw red onion and I had to take some out because it was extremely overpowering. I would not recommend this menu item. Overall, a super underwhelming experience. But, place is clean and workers are friendly. Service was also fast seeing as they had more workers present than customers haha. read more

Horrible service! The bread is small, old, and hard. I wanting to feel the nostalgia of the San Francisco Boudin restaurant visited the Boudin in Irvine with much anticipation but my experience was extremely horrible. The place is run by inexperienced people who do not care about their customers. I bought a sandwich and the bread was as hard as the soles of Charley Chaplin's leather shoes. When I took a bite I was pulling the hard bread so hard the meat and tomato and lettuce all squished out the bottom of the sandwich and flopped out onto my lap. The sandwich did not taste like it was described on the menu. It was as though the people created their own mix of weird things as a replacement for the description listed ingredients. Like they ran out of the ingredients and cut corners to pretend that it was what was on the menu. They made their own concoction for sandwich spread. Completely weird taste. I had to drive all the way back and asked to return the sandwich but the man who worked there was so upset he got nose to nose with me telling me that that's how the bread comes out and it's normal. He even without manners tapped his finger onto the hard bread and mush in the wrapper I brought back (as though that gesture was going to convince me that hard bread is acceptable). Rather than saying I'm so sorry how can I make your experience better he rather give excuses for selling week old hard bread. I've had this sandwich in San Francisco and the baguette was soft, delicious, and not old and hard like the one I returned. Not to mention in San Francisco you get what you order there's no imitation ingredients. I thought to exchange the sandwich for a bread bowl and saw that the bread bowls were so small what a waste. So I didn't get it. Eventually after having to stand in line and wait after they knew well they needed to assist me they went to the back and hid out rather than stand at the front to help their customers especially when there's an issue that's wrong. When they decided to help me they threw my sandwich in the trash without settling the negotiations of my complaint. Then I finally got my refund for the sandwich it came without the money I spent on the tax. So I asked for the money I spent on tax for the sandwich and the girl said that that's how the cash register rings it up and I had to say NO.... I paid tax and I want it back.... so she had to figure a way to give it back to me as well. The bad part is if I did not bring up the issue I would have been short changed which is completely illegal and unfair. I left hungry they didn't try to offer me something else. I can't imagine other people getting a refund without getting the money they spent on tax back with their refund. Needless to say my sandwich was thrown in the trash like a basketball by the rude man who worked there he needs professional development and better management skills. In addition no who worked there said I'm so sorry for the inconvenience or the difficulties you were caused almost pulling your front teeth out in an attempt to eat this cement bread. What a Royal imposter this Boudin in Irvine is. It's not authentic or anything like a real boudin experience. This place is not at all like the one San Francisco. Don't waste you time, teeth on hard bread, or your tax. read more

Amazingly fresh. Had the combo sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder and tuna melt. The bread on both the sandwich and the bowl were out of the world fresh. The tuna melt is hands down the best iteration I've ever had. Epic. The clam chowder was slightly under seasoned but the bowl was fresh. I also opted for cookies which were the perfect freshness also. Incredible. It's worth noting all of this food was delivered via Uber eats and typically upon delivery with ordered food, it's not fresh, but this meal was amazing. Kudos. read more

A few days ago I stopped by this Boudin restaurant to get some bread. The woman behind the desk was very nice and helpful. Her name is Letticia. I've been to several Boudin's throughout Southern California. This is my only review of this company. Not that the other restaurants are bad, but this one stood out because of Letticia. They're so busy that they no longer care about the service. I ordered 3 French dip sandwiches and they gave me one single cup of au jus. Same taste as I had when I was in San Francisco. Clam chowder is the best to have. Good sandwiches as well.

Boudin SF! I've already gone to the one in South Coast Plaza (multiple times) and I've loved their clam chowder bowl. But there's one in Irvine as well? Closer to UCI campus? Whee! Located on Michelson (and not in Park Place), Boudin SF shares a small space near Souplantation. Parking is extremely limited outdoors, but there is a parking garage that one can park at. It's confusing. They have "retail" and "guest" parking. Actually now that I look back at it, I'm not as confused. :P But I believe that you must choose retail parking since you are, in fact, going off to Boudin SF. When you go in, you see the all familiar great looking sourdough breads that they have in the back with the shapes in animal form. :D Going here is simple enough, order your sandwich, sourdough bread, or bowl (: Impressively enough, the speed at which they give you your items here is ridiculously fast compared to the one at SCP. I think it maybe took 2 minutes after I sat down to get my clam chowder bread bowl. So service here goes fast! Which means they just have the bread already cut and just put the clam chowder quickly in there. What is different here at Boudin is that they cut their bread bowls lower. Yes. Which means you have less clam chowder than the SCP Boudin. The bread lid is bigger, yes, which means you have the same amount of bread, but less clam chowder because the cut now makes the bowl lower, which essentially gives you less clam chowder. The clam chowder? Good. Good on a cold winter day for lunch :) You get to enjoy the creaminess and you get to enjoy the *gasp* clams that come along with the soup! Also the sitting area is kinda small but there's a second side where you can sit at. This place looks like its made more for to go orders. Enjoy your clam chowder bowl. Viva Boudin~ :) read more

I have to agree with the majority - it's like Panera or Corner Bakery but far FAR better. It's located next to Souplantation and you may find yourself having to park in their lot since there are only a couple spaces in front of Boudin SF. When I first walked in I had to laugh to myself because sitting at the first table I noticed were a couple that looked like they belonged on the cover of a Richard Brautigan novel. Very San Francisco! But as I glanced around, the other patrons were not SF bohemian so it was safe for me to make my way to the counter to order. I took the advice of other yelpers and got a grilled brie, apple & fig sandwich on sourdough plus a bowl (actually a mug) of butternut squash soup. The soup had some walnuts and cranberries mixed in. A bag of Tim's original potato chips were also included with the meal (love 'em). The flavors were just perfection. My head was bobbing around doing a happy dance with each bite I took of that sandwich. Normally I'm not a big soup lover but as I finished my soup I was practically licking the mug clean. I also purchased a lemon bar which was quite good although not the best I ever had. It didn't really look like a typical lemon bar but it did taste lemony. Staff were all very efficient and friendly. I'd give this place 4.86 stars! read more

Love the sourdough bread - love! The only downside to this location is the parking: you'll likely need to park in the structure at peak times, which is fine, if you have time. If you're in a bit of a rush, you might find it a tad annoying, as I do. BUT.. that aside: Boudin is worth it. I love the grilled cheese here, and any turkey or chicken sandwich. The clam chowder is also good. I usually love tomato soup but do find it a bit bland here. If you're having soup (and that's it), feel free to go all out for the bread bowl - yum, yum! read more

Ordering the food was very simple, all you have to do is to tap on the food or beverage you want on the large screen once you entered the restaurant, and it usually takes about 5-7 minutes for your meal to be served. Their food is tasty, the clam chowder is my personal favorite. The restaurant is clean, and no streaks of food or dirt were on the table or seat. Overall, I think it's a good restaurant to go to if you're looking for a meal to satisfy your stomach. I don't understand why they have 3.7 stars on this app. read more

Do not order delivery from this location. Something is always missing, the toppings to anything and everything, the bread bowls, etc. mind you when ordering delivery you also pay extra for all these items. I really appreciate a good piece of sourdough bread. I can also appreciate that Boudin knows how to do bread. However, I would only come here to access good bread and not food. I came here for a quick lunch break today and left half of my food on the plate. I was greeted by a very unenthusiastic employee that said "yeah, what do you want?" I felt slightly awkward ordering especially since I did not have a line behind me. I ordered their special soup and salad. I chose the Waldorf salad which is a personal favorite and the daily special of vegetarian chili in a bread bowl. The Waldorf was topped with smoked mozzarella cheese which was the weirdest thing to put on a Waldorf salad (Bleu cheese, anyone?) and the vegetarian chili tasted like something that was out of the can. The top of the breadbowl was too dense to bite into as well. Overall, I picked the mozz off the salad and ate the salad. I left most of the soup because it frankly, tasted disgusting. The floor service was excellent (not counter service) but eating here is not worth the sub par food. read more

So first off I love this place don't get me wrong but the reason I'm rating it 1star is because I just found out that their soups are kept in plastic!!!!! Like what the hell man, how are you gonna keep hot ass soup in plastic so that all the micro plastics could melt into the soup and end up messing with your hormones, causing cancer, cardiovascular disease, and can also cause neuro development disorder for kids and killing your Testosterone. But for some reason I'm the crazy one for caring about my health and wanting to cancel my order because of that. The manager was cool and he did it no problem. It's reasons like this that make me never come back to these kind of places. Hopefully Boudin SF gets their shiet together and starts to care a bit more about the health of their costumers by simply keeping the soups in the stainless steel pot without the plastic but until then. I'm done with this place and you should be too. I'm tired of these places not caring about health of its own customers. read more

Loved boudin for years, been to many different franchises and this is hands down the worst one. I went to this exact location months ago and decided to try it out again (I usually go to the one in south coast). Both experiences here have been awful. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but that is now both times my order has been messed up. In short staff doesn't listen. Sandwich's are layered in Mayo (even tho I said no mayo 3 times!!!!!) barely any avocado. Skimp you on turkey portions. Only pro was the food came out quick but I can see why since there was no one else inside except 1 other table. Clearly will not be going back, oh and the parking is beyond awful.
