First time in Kelowna and was introduced to this wonderful little restaurant on the very first night. It is located within walkig distance from the lake. Indeed it has a very european feel, the staff was ever so attentive and kind and the food was the best I have had in a very long time. I hope to have the opportunity to go back again and make my way through the menu ! It has a patio so I am sure in summer it must be magnificent sitting outside. read more

Found Bouchons on Yelp and found it was an easy walk from Discovery Cove where we rented a condo for the week. The Le Cassoulet and La Bouillabaisse are superb. Good sized portions. You could be in Paris. Service absolutely impeccable. Nice wine list. Very welcoming environment for the weary traveler. read more

Took me a few days to decide whether I would post this review of my -once- favorite establishment, but I'm still feeling disappointed, so here goes.... We went back for the New Year's Eve special dinner. New owners ! Cool.... but same friendly, very professional waiters, which was awesome. My choice was a vol-au-vent, then foie gras, followed by lobster thermidor, then a Opera for dessert. -Vol au vent was very good. That was a good start. That was the only highlight of the whole meal as a matter of fact. -Foie gras was a disaster. Burnt, cold toasts served with what resembled more a "pate" made of leftovers, mixed with some strange liquor. It tasted bitter, funny, terrible, I had to send it back. They brought me a more normal foie gras (au torchon), but the slabs were too big and too thick, poorly plated, and the toast still too cold and burnt on the edges. Basic rule of thumb : toast is to be served WARM with foie gras. And dry, it doesn't need to be buttered or greased up. And definitely not black. -Lobster... no lobster ! Kitchen ran out. I was looking forward to it but the poor planning had me resigned to order St-Jacques (scallops) instead. Tasted okay, but nothing close to the standards I am used to for this restaurant. They used to have a knack for beautiful plating and presentation, that seems to be gone. The garnish looked miserable. -Cheese platter : 2 huge wedges of blue cheese and another type of cheese, way too much of it, also badly cut in big chunks and poorly plated. You don't freakin' serve blue cheese like that ; wtf? -Dessert : Wouldn't you know it... they ran out of dessert as well. No Opera. We had to order a chocolate mousse instead. Tasted okay but was not set properly, was a bit too runny. The new owner was friendly and tried his darndest to make us happy, but the whole experience ended up a bit bitter unfortunately. Not sure if it's a new brigade in the kitchen, but based on this experience, it looks like they need to plan their Garde-Manger and stock a little bit better and practice on their plating. And not burn the damn toasts. This restaurant consistently delivered high-quality, beautiful, yummy food for the past 12-13 years, so that last dinner was a bit of a salty surprise. It was honestly not worth the $150.00 per person (that figure includes the wines and tip). There was no compromise made on the bill for not having the dishes advertised for the event, and we weren't told this at the very beginning when our waiter initially took our order. I truly hope it was a fluke. read more

Great restaurant with excellent french food. The peppercorn sauce is delicious. The steaks are cooked well. Great ambiance.

Cozy French place with perfect service and a great menu. We came for dessert and were floored; we'll be back soon for the real meal experience. read more

Bouchons Bistro - Dessert. Decadent. - French Near Me - Kelowna, British Columbia

And go back I did! More than once - and again for my birthday. The most recent time around I had the chef's special, which was a dijon beef carpaccio, duck breast with a pomegranate sauce, and a caramel flan for dessert. Duck can be a risky pick, but it was great - nice thin layer of fat on top, cooked rare, and not too gamey tasting. Love this place. ---------- Hubby took me here for my birthday dinner in January. Service was off the charts. I've never been assisted with removing & putting on my jacket at a restaurant before, and it was wonderful to experience. Our waiter was happy to make recommendations and even took some time to have small conversation with us. :) The food was great. I'm not well-versed in French cuisine at all, but there was nothing we didn't like. Even the fries were awesome. The atmosphere was great, it felt just like what I imagine a French bistro should feel like. I WILL say there was a sizeable chunk of solid ice in my gelato, which I wasn't too impressed about, but our waiter's firm "I'll let the chef know" has me fairly certain it won't happen again :) I think this will be our go-to place for a "nice" meal. I can't wait to go back! read more

This is our go to for a fine dining experience. Come hungry and leave full. Yes, the prices are more, but the quality is worth it and portions are always a good size. After years of coming here I've never had a bad meal here. read more

Had a wonderful, delicious dinner with my husband and brother from Germany last night. We had the three course menu and everything was delicious. The waiters were very attentive and looked after us very well. My favourite restaurant in Kelowna to take family and friends read more

This traditional French Bistro is an obvious town favourite, filled with sounds of wine fuelled chatter. Although not taking any strides into the modern era, classics such as the Cassoulet were rich in flavour and character. The starter of duck foie gras was a generous slab and it's richness matched well with a glass of Sauternes. The wine list boasts some excellent selections from the region as well as some spoils from the homeland. Kelowna is lucky to have a French restaurant of this calibre in its midst. read more

This place definitely satisfied my need for French cuisine! Cute restaurant and friendly staff. I came here during the Canada Day long weekend and ordered the french onion soup and steak tartar and was very pleased! Would have loved to enjoy some French wine but was unfortunately all wined-out from a wine tour earlier in the day but very nice wine selection. read more

I was very excited to try this restaurant after reading the reviews. However the service was terrible, the waiter did not know the menu and kept saying they had things on the menu and then brought other dishes and drinks that we never ordered. For the price you are paying you would expect some flavour in the food. It was very disappointing. The location and the restaurant were very cute but that is about all they have going for them. read more

This is the second time my wife and I were dining at Bouchons Bistro and it was just as good as it was the first time. Baked pear with blue cheese in a puff pastry was exceptional as an appetizer, the Le Cassoulet (duck confit, smoked lamb rack, sausage and bean) was the best bang for the buck as an entree, and the lavender iced soufflé was something to die for if you love lavender as much as my wife does. Service and quality of food has never let us down and will definitely be back next time in Kelowna. read more

Bouchon's is one of kelowna's finest restaurants, no question. Special occasions, celebrations, date nite, business client dinners it is tops on our list. Food, service, ambiance never dissapoints. Always one of the tops on our list. The 3 course dinner special is amazing value every time. read more

Hum.....good food! Very loud not the atmosphere I enjoy . Expensive for overall experience.

This looked like a lovely spot, and their menu was quite intriguing. My partner ordered the Chef's Menu, and I got the duck confit. The Chef's started with some actually really lovely seared scallops with mussels and a curried sauce. Her main was ok, a bit devoid of flavour, and I quite love duck confit, so was disappointed when it arrived with the skin still quite soft and chewy. I asked for this to be crisped up a bit, which they did only partially, so most of the skin was still quite soft and chewy. The meat itself was a bit over cooked. The vegetables and jus/gravy it came with were flavourless. The side of pomme frites were also a bit soggy and oily, and the aoli was pretty sad. The server did ask after the meal and I let her know what I thought of it (because I love duck confit!) and she said she'd communicate this to the kitchen, but that was about that. The chocolate mousse dessert was nice, but at $52 for the prix fixe and $42 for the duck, this was a low-value experience. One of our favourite restaurants back home is a French place, and their simplest entrees would put this dinner to shame, and at half the price for that. I do have to say that the service was excellent, but unfortunately it did nothing to help the quality or price of the food. read more

The best French restaurant I have eaten in! The Chef (Luc) is amazing! Great presentation of food, as you eat with your eyes also. With drinks expect to pay over $100 per couple, but for a restaurant like this it is worth it. Great atmosphere with friendly patrons. I strongly recommend the Creme Brule for dessert. Professional wait staff also. 10 out of 10! read more

My friend and I came to this restaurant thanks to positive yelp reviews and we had the most incredible dinner! The restaurant is beautiful and quaint with a private patio. The service is attentive and friendly. The food is amazingly delicious and authentic. We are both on a budget so we got the 3-course Table of the Week meal. Each course was the perfect size and deliciously flavourful. I would definitely come back to this restaurant and will recommend it to all my friends. read more

The food and service was incredible. We had the Coconut drenched Mussels, which were to die for.

Absolutely wonderful meal and dining experience. Highly recommend this place. This is what fine dining is meant to be. We had French onion soup and have salad for starters. Main courses were prawns and scallops in pastry and I had the mussels. Wife had the profiterole's for desert and I had the flight of crème brûlée. read more

I will not be able to say enough about Richard and Martine's restaurant to give them the respect it deserves. I loved them in Vancouver and it remains true now in Kelowna. This is the only place in worthy of your fine dining efforts and I highly recommend it. The most educated and correct wine list in Kelowna by far, and the pricing is where it should be - the French would not stand for foolish multiples on their wine!! Make a reservation and go, you won't be disappointed. read more

This has been a family favorite restaurant for celebrations and special occasions. The food and service has always been excellent over the years until our recent visit. I wanted to share our experience as it was beyond disappointing and I doubt anyone in our family will be back. When we arrived it was obvious our waiter was new, which would have been okay except the table beside us got good service where we did not. We had to ask for water for the table, while it was brought to the other upon arrival, we did not get bread from our server it was in fact another server who saw we were without that finally brought it. We waited 40 mins for our appetizers and then another 45 mins for our mains. Tables that were seated 30-40mins after us received their food first. When our food finally came out it was only half the order, muscles and the prawn and scallop nest, the rabbit was nowhere to be seen and nothing was said other then it would be right up. 5 mins later the rabbit finally arrives and we start our meals only to have cold muscles, clearly cold before leaving the kitchen as the other meal was still warm. As the waiter had not been back we finally called over the hostess, she was polite and took the meal back. This was extremely disappointing considering the long wait between courses, the meal with brought back hot but no real mention of an apology. At this point we decided that we did not want dessert and simply the bill. When we asked for the bill instead we got offered champagne, this would have been a great gesture as we waited between courses but not as we were ready to leave. It was only after we declined the drinks that we were told they were short staffed and offered any explanation on the poor service and meals. When the bill came nothing was done regarding the meal that had to be sent back, I know this is not required but considering this was a shortfall on their part it would have gone along way in saving the night. As locals who have dinned here for years this was disappointing and we will not be back. I am just happy we did not have any guests with us or I would have been embarrassed. read more

On my recent stagette weekend trip to Kelowna my bridesmaids booked a reservation for 20 people here at Bouchons Bistro. For such a large party, they gave us a set menu option to pick for our appetizers, entrees and desserts. I chose the butter lettuce salad with Dijon vinaigrette for my appetizer, the scallop and shrimp for my entrée, and the lavender soufflé for my dessert. We also got some escargots and pate to share. They were a good start to our meal. The salad was pretty standard but I did enjoy the vinaigrette. My shrimp and scallop dish was absolutely amazing. The scallops and shrimps were very big and the sauce was delicious. I also tried a bite of my friend's grilled tenderloin (another entrée option) and it was also very good. I'm not a dessert person but I did try the soufflé. It had a great texture and was not overly sweet. Service was amazing even with our large group. They also offer to take off your jacket and hang it up for you. I definitely recommend this place. read more

We enjoyed a lovely meal here. The food was good and service was excellent. My husband had the Chef's Table of the Week that included Seafood Wellington, Free Range Pork Chop, and Poached Pear. We had the chefs table dinner, which is a daily chef's creation of a three course meal. Food was good but the dessert was phenomenal, especially the creme brûlée trio. Very nice place for a high end dinner. Service was attentive and our server made conversation with us at appropriate times. Food was amazing and price was justified. Authentic French bistro. Great good and good wine selection.

The food was excellent. I had the venison tartar as an appetizer and the Braised Fraser Valley rabbit casserole and the food was fantastic. The thing that wasn't great was the 1 1/2 hours before any entrees arrived at the table and this was a Wednesday night. read more

We had dinner at Bouchons on a busy saturday evening with a large group of 15 people. We occupied the entire outdoor patio. Service was attentive and professional throughout the evening. We selected entrees, mains and deserts from the daily menu only because of the large group. The were plenty of interesting choices and everything was well prepared and served in a timely fashion, despite the restaurant being full. We we greeted on arrival and served here and there by the husband and wife owners, expats from Quebec via Vancouver, and they lent a real air of tradition and elegance to the whole evening. Premium priced bistro experience well worth repeating. Recommended. read more

New Years Eve dinner to remember. Starting with walking up to the restaurant, it is a quiet neighbourhood with lots of parking. The restaurant is in the ground floor on a corner with lots of glass looking out. The inside is cozy and finished in a traditional bistro style. A lovely wooden bar, cozy banquettes and tables easily arranged for 2 or more. Service is fantastic from being greeted at the door, to the bar and your table service. As it was NYE we started with bubbles and took the bar tenders recommendation on a local bottle. There was a chefs menu in addition to the regular menu for the night. While the chefs menu looked delicious and was well priced it seemed too much food and too rich for either of us that night. I started with Lobster Bisque and had the salmon while Derek had the French onion soup and rack of lamb. Our waiter was perfect. Attentive and good recommendation on wine to go with my salmon (Chardonnay). The Meals were amazing. Lobster bisque was flavourful and hot with a lovely dollop of cream. Derek's French onion was traditional and very nicely done. Hot but not too salty and the wine added was subtle. My salmon was a classic dish Russian style coulibac with a bouquetiere of vegetables. Derek's rack of lamb was done med-rare, the veg and a relish. . There was also a dish of frites to share. After this we still had room for desert. I had an iced lavender soufflé while Derek went for Profiteroles. Everything was delicious and despite our best efforts we still felt quite full when we left but so worth it! Had a lovely time with fantastic food and service and will come again next time we are in Kelowna. read more

Good luck trying to have a conservation in here! I felt very crowded, like we were having dinner with the strangers at the table next to us. Pretty standard french fare, but very hit or miss. I would not recommend the foie gras...very strange texture and a weird aftertaste. Quite pricy, and not that impressive overall, but I guess they can get away with that, being one of the few fine dining french restaurants in the area. read more

Great place for traditional French cuisine. Fantastic friendly and prompt service. The food is fantastic and beautifully prepared and presented.
