Wow! I had heard good things but this absolutely blew us away. The place is small but really cute inside; I loved the contrast between the brick and the floral wallpaper. The four of us split two bottles of wine - Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, both from the Okanagan - and five dishes: charcuterie, asparagus, rigatoni, pork belly and chicken. Normally there's a dish that misses the mark but not here. Not only was each dish perfectly executed but the timing was also impeccable. Given the size of the place we were concerned about how everything would fit on our table but we shouldn't have been. And then the bill came at the end and on top of that it was incredibly affordable - about $65 per person and we were all full. Will always return on future trips to Kelowna.
This is a cute and cozy spot for some really good food. The menu changes daily, so you're always going to have a creative and different experience each time. We got two small plates (1 scotched quail egg and 1 order of prosciutto wrapped dates) as well as two entrees - a truffle bechamel pasta, and an order of glazed ribs. Everything was very good, and I especially loved the pasta. They also made some terrific mocktails for us - I had a ginger beer with citrus simple syrup and sugared rim, which was super refreshing; my partner had a passion fruit, berry, and egg white mocktail that was fragrant and delicious. The only slight drawback was that there was only one server/bartender, so as things got busier, service became slower - but she was super nice and even gave us some restaurant pointers for the rest of our trip in Canada. Would definitely recommend!
The restaurant just happened to have flown in and cut a blue fin tuna, so their menu was all tuna for our visit. It was really well done, and all the flavours and pairings worked really well together.
My friend and I stumbled upon this place on the first day of our visit to Okanagan and it ended up being recommended frequently on our trip and stayed one of our favorite places. The food changes seasonally and they have a pretty robust drink menu too. We got short rib vodka bolognese pasta, pawns with whiskey buttered rice, and a popcorn dish that had beer cheese and roasted Brussels sprouts in maple syrup. I'm glad I tried the popcorn and sprouts, though it was slightly too sweet for me. The mixture and variety of flavors and textures were fun. My favorite was the bolognese, it was comforting, scrumptious, and so full of flavor without being too salty.
Why go anywhere else when they've achieved perfection? Our first night visiting Kelowna, my friend and I were taking in the sights when an absolutely delicious smell lured us into investigating Salt & Bricks menu. The space is small, but every table was filled at 7:30pm on a Thursday night, so we wanted to experience for ourselves. Their menu- which changes daily - was short but anything but simple. The creativity of flavors and playful dishes (maple syrup roasted brussel sprouts with popcorn and beer cheese?!) made us feel as though we had entered Neverland. Our server, Amber, was charmingly patient fielding our myriad questions and brought us a few small tasted of wine to aid in our decision making. We ended up ordering the short rib vodka Bolognese, black tiger prawns with whiskey buttered rice pilaf and brussel sprouts with beer cheese, pickled grapes and popcorn (which was a fun experience that played with textures and flavor profiles). Honestly, I don't know how we will go anywhere else. The food was too delightful not to finish our plates and their constantly changing menu makes me want to see what else they can create! Will see you there tomorrow night!
Nice restaurant for a date night. Appreciate the fact that they have a changing menu to keep things fresh and fun. We got the brussel sprouts and ribs to share. Honestly the brussel sprouts wasn't that great... not sure how the popcorn, grapes and boiled brussel sprouts became such a popular item here. The ribs, however, was great! So tender and fell off the bone. Well seasoned with some nice sauces.
Must stop for some cool dishes to snack on!! Try their infamous crispy BRUSSEL SPROUTS...with dill cheddar popcorn and green grapes. Who would've thought! The ROASTED CAULIFLOWER and MUSSELS was good, but not outstandingly unique. We had their wildcard WHITE CHOCOLATE & HEIRLOOM CARROTS, this was a major miss for me, the flavours were just way too sweet. All in all, really cool spot to get some dishes to share. Their menu also changes frequently, but they have some mainstays like their Brussel sprouts that are a MUST.
It's amazing what people can come up with when they're allowed to be creative in the kitchen! A daily new menu is created based on what the kitchen staff comes up with, using everything in season and local. The fresh farm to table fare was always prepared to perfection with the most amazing sauces and components. Maybe the best meal I've ever had. Vegetarian friendly.
We had an amazing time here ! The restaurant has a really fun and intimate vibe. I would definitely recommend to make reservations as there are not many tables. They recommend getting 1-2 plates per person and to share family style. The menu also changes daily. We had an oyster each, scallops, vegetable chow mein, oyster mushrooms with a fried egg and carpaccio with a chocolate brownie for dessert. I loved everything except the scallops and dessert were just so-so. Otherwise the dishes were incredibly complex with unique ingredients and flavours. Our service was fantastic - super personable and fun to chat with. I would come back in a heart beat if I lived in the area !
Love it. Excellent food, great service, and a very cool spot. The dishes are very creative, and they seem to all come from hot plates! They are sharing dishes, but they are pretty much full sized so be careful not to order too much. Great problem to have!
It's certainly impressive that they change up their menu on a regular basis. Their dishes are certainly tasty and the ingredients are carefully thought out. For example, the potato fondant is cooked in duck fat and served with a yummy garlic dill sour cream. However, the serving size is equivalent to 1.5 small potatoes and the price tag is $14. The sliced rib eye, although cooked right through, was extremely tender and flavourful, even on its own. The side of mini tortillas (not enough!) and lemon pepper kreme were nice, but didn't do too much to elevate the dish. Again, the serving size was small ($30). The warm croissant was my favourite. The croissant was fluffy and flaky. The wild boar salami provided an initial kick of umami and saltiness, while the horseradish cheddar added a second kick. The picked onion gave a hint of acidity, and the plum jam rounded it off with just the right amount of sweetness. It still hurt to pay $16 for a sandwich though. If money grew on trees, I would certainly come back to see what creative items they've got to bring, but until then $25 is too much for "Canned Spanish Sardines", and $18 is too much for "Roasted Heirloom Carrots".
At the heart of kelowna downtown , highly recommends to make booking ahead of time, walk in wait are usually 45 mins min. They do rotating tapa plates , portions are fairly big, every single day the menu changes. My personal favourite is the carmalized carrot , which is a stable item, topped white chocolate chip. The Mexican corn is amazing, the lamb rolls are super tender and juicy , paired with peaches which is refreshing. Cauliflower wings with fresh pickle is must Champagne mac and cheese with flammin hot popcorns Defiantely worth the wait if u are in kelowna
Came here for dinner on my first night in Kelowna. The last time I visited Kelowna I wanted to try Salt & Brick but it was so packed and full that I couldn't get a table. This time we came prepared and made reservations way ahead of time so we finally got to try! I was a bit disappointed for this highly anticipated restaurant. The pairings were extremely unique and perhaps just not up to my liking but those I was dining with did not seem to particularly enjoy any dish as well. The orzo salad had really good texture and I would've really enjoyed it if it had more taste to it? It seemed unsalted and bland but I feel like it has a lot of potential. I did see quite a few people order this dish though so I wonder if I had just gotten unlucky? They had a dish with Brussels sprouts, grape and popcorn which was just not one of those pairings that worked for me. The aburi wagyu prime rib was quite yummy though I must say! The fish dishes (we had salmon and one more which I forget what it was) were not it. Salmon was dry and a bit bland.

I remember having a great dining experience here a few years back so made sure to stop by when in Kelowna visiting. We booked a Happy Hour reservation for the long Sunday Easter long weekend at 4:30pm and we were the first to arrive. As Salt & Brick has an evolving fresh sheet menu, you never know what's on the menu but they usually have a few staples like their Brussel sprouts. As this was my boyfriend's first time here, we ordered the Brussell sprouts with popcorn and the Rigatoni. We were given the regular menu but did inquire about Happy Hour and the Brussel sprouts, pastas, and charcuterie board were on special. Unfortunately, they didn't have any oysters available that day. Small cozy atmosphere with a cute front porch. It's a small bar and kitchen that you can see and wonderful that you see and hear all the food being freshly made to order. Our server was friendly, chatty, and attentive but also gave us our space too. The Brussel sprouts served with cheddar popcorn, grapes, and ripped beer cheese is a bit salty, sweet, and so satisfying! My partner doesn't love Brussel sprouts but really enjoyed this dish. The Rigatoni was a bit rich with a nettle became sauce but served with the earthy lily spears, it was a well rounded dish altogether that we also enjoyed. Cute restaurant on the Downtown main strip that isn't a major chain, which is refreshing. Will continue to visit next time in town and hopefully they will have oysters then! read more

Love that they make daily features menus to highly what they have to offer. They recently got a huge tuna so it was highlighted in most of their menu items. We took advantage of the opportunity and ordered the sashimi and tataki, both of which were melt in your mouth delicious! The pork chop with apricots was a unique menu item that pleasantly surprised all our taste buds! read more

This is a really cute and cozy joint in downtown kelowna. The decor is rustic and warm. The location has a view of the marina and mountains. The lunch menu is limited and the pork belly sandwich seems to be popular judging by the fact that have to substitute the meat with a back bacon as they ran out of the meat. I decided to do a take-out and get the brisket sandwich, which takes about a good 10 minutes. The sandwich was good. Had some sweet, tangy and salty elements that worked well together. The mustard was a bit much, but still pretty good. I would have liked it if they put a plastic fork in my bag. It included potatoes with hollandaise sauce, which was kind of on the soggy side. They could use a nicer artisan bread but it was on a plain white bread. I would categorize this place as quebecois food, not French. I think they charge too much for what it is. I would probably come back if there were more items and options and if the price was better. read more

This place is a gem. Delectable unique and flavourful selection of not so small plates for sharing, great variety to cater for carnivores and vegetarians alike. It's a given that we are in wine country and the wine menu is da-bomb. We had a really enjoyable team dinner on the patio, sipping bubbles, and watching the sun set. Definitely add Salt & Bricks to your to-do on your visit to Kelowna. read more
I am always down for unique food experiences. This is A gem in Kelowna. A cozy bar with sharing plates for food. I like the open concept of the restaurant. You see everything once you go in. You see the chefs prep and cook in front of you. It's such a cute and unique place. So, even if you are along sitting at the bar, you won't get bored with everything going on at the place. It's not very big place so it might be tough to find a table if you have a group larger than 6 but they have a good selection of alcohol and a variety of food for sharing. My favourite is their Brussels sprouts! read more

This is the first bad review I have ever left because I am so truly disappointed by this place. First of all, ridiculously overpriced--"tapas style" yet every dish costs $30. I tried the short rib bao buns and crispy pork belly, both prepared lazily. The short rib bao buns were largely bun, and the little meat that was present was tasteless and overly fatty. Presented alongside the three small bao buns were crudely cut carrot slices and dollops of sauce--clearly a lazy attempt at imitating high dining presentation. The crispy pork belly itself was okay flavor wise, although they had a very hard exterior (I understand crispy is in the name but these really had a shell on them). They came in a bowl with cabbage, shaved carrots, and radish which had no or very minimal dressing or flavor of any kind. It feels like the chef saw a picture of a bao bun and thought "that seems exotic and interesting" but has no deeper knowledge of how to make a bao bun taste good. In short, the food was lazy and wildly overpriced, and the portions were quite small--I should not spend $70 and leave hungry. And it's not like there's the excuse of high quality ingredients or something. Also, the ever-changing menu is a ridiculous gimmick to draw attention. Change with the seasons, or even with the month, sure. But every day? Try focusing on making good food. I was astounded at how perfectly this restaurant fit the "hipster" stereotype. The mason jar glasses, neon sign, exposed brick wall, the name itself... to the T. Salt and Brick's ambiance is lazy and derivative--it lacks any soul, much like the food. read more

Amazing food, generous portion, and great service! Our reservation was slightly delayed and the server bought us cocktails from the bar next door. All of the food we ordered were so yummy, my favourite being the braised lamb and mushroom toast. Great ambiance & proper covid measures. Would definitely come back when we go to Kelowna. read more

Salt & Brick is really the entire package; their food is incredible and the atmosphere is second to none. They are the preferred caterer for Oak Estate Winery and it is clear why. As a fellow wedding vendor in the industry, the food, presentation, and care put into each dish stand out to us, and Salt & Brick are HIGHLY recommended by us as a catering vendor to our clients AND as a restaurant to frequent! read more

Stopped in here for lunch while passing through Kelowna. I think we were expecting more. Its a good location. We chose to sit in front of the window to enjoy the view of the harbor. The 'menu' was just a crumply piece of paper with the names and prices of the plates they were serving. Zero description, and no descriptions were offered until asked. How the hell am I suppose to know what a Plowmans lunch is? There was also no drink menu given, so I had to go up and inquire about wines... They were also out of a few of the main dishes in the already limited selection. My husband and I ordered a few items off the menu to share. The presentation was lovely, but when it comes down to it, it was short of gourmet. The Characturie Board was nice and simple, enjoyed the variety. The blue cheese dates were good, but lacking in texture and didn't seem well rounded - it needs a nut pairing - something. And the brie and pear sandwich is served on a very tough baguette which completely ruined the other delicate ingredients, which simply were pear and brie. Both of us had sore jaws from chewing and eventually we just stopped and picked the pear and brie off. Prices were reasonable. But we would not go back, or recommend. read more
