This is a beautiful setting overlooking the Quails' Gate vineyards, and if the weather is agreeable, you definitely will want to sit outside. We had a lovely lunch here, and the service was excellent. For me, the highlight of my meal was the rib eye steak, which was perfectly grilled and one of the best pieces of meat I've had in Canada, and priced very reasonably. The trout and bison carpaccio were also excellent. read more

Celebrated my birthday at Old Vines Restaurant at Quails' Gate Winery, and it was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the views over the vineyard and Okanagan Lake set the tone--absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. The food was incredible. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor--we especially loved the duck, the fresh local produce, and of course, the wine pairings. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. What made the night even more special was the service. The staff were attentive, kind, and made me feel genuinely celebrated, even bringing out a surprise birthday dessert. Whether you're a local or visiting the Okanagan, Old Vines is the perfect place for a special occasion. Great wine, amazing food, and one of the most beautiful dining settings anywhere. read more

This is the restaurant next to the winery, they use materials from the local neighborhood and have suggested pairing for each dish! The views are amazing on a sunny day, you over see the views of the field and the water. The food tough are a hit or miss. We headed here for dinner and knew before we arrived we wanted to try the tasting menu with wine pairings, something that wasn't available the last few times I've been in Kelowna I'm previous years. Our server, Liv, was hilarious and super attentive - she always kept us up to speed on wait times and checked in on us. We had a lot of laughs. The food was all outstanding, to the point it was hard to pick a favourite. So many interesting flavours and well executed dishes. The wine pairings were also well thought out, which was evident. We were really happy with our meal and the price was quite affordable for a tasting menu. read more

Went here in October for our 10th wedding anniversary. The squash tartlette was incredible but I think it would have been better if it was served warm rather than cold. Both of our mains were delicious, as was the dessert. The ambience of the restaurant is nice. Our server wasn't particularly attentive or friendly, but he did his job. read more

So let's be real here, this is a winery or vineyard first and foremost. Most come to Quail's Gate for their Chardonnay - and it should stay that way. Old Vines complements the estate with its casual and non pretentious dining experience. The restaurant offers indoor and al fresco dining, which is perfect for the summer time. Remember that the Okanagan grows New World wines and though it does practice techniques accustomed to the old, the wines here are young and are a work in progress - much like the food at Old Vines. I started with the daily appetizer special - Bison Carpaccio. I also ordered a charcuterie board just to nibble on as I tasted the "aromatic flight". The bison carpaccio had a blueberry compote and was divine. I was extremely excited and could not wait for my main. Mind you this was after several glasses of wine, but when the strip loin arrived, it showed signs of a poorly executed dish. At medium rare, a fresh steak should sear and should boast a perfect pink throughout. The meat presented showed signs of utter negligence and I could tell that this steak was frozen, and was not thawed properly or in time. This steak was abysmal and utterly disappointing. How any chef can serve a piece of steak as atrocious as this is beyond me. The potato confit was barely crispy on the outside before the chef decided to ruin it by pouring au jus all over it. What a waste. The mushrooms were the dish's only saving grace. Service however was excellent and ambience is great. I know it may seem harsh to critique to such high levels, but when you claim high accolades, you have to admit when something is wrong. When the waiter asked how my meal was, I smiled and just pointed at the grey hunk of meat left on my plate. Too bad. read more

Another fabulous visit to Quail's gate- we kicked off our self-directed wine tour with a lunch from Old Vines Restaurant. We were seated outside with a perfect view of the vineyard. We were served by Sydney, who was an exceptional host for our table of 4. She was knowledgeable about the wines, and made excellent food recommendations. My husband had the Lamb burger - he said it was excellent. I had the herb crusted halibut; which was exactly what I was craving. I would highly recommend the estate chardonnay, recommended by our fantastic host, Sydney. read more

Honestly, this dining experience was more about the amazing patio view and atmosphere especially on a beautiful July summers day in Kelowna. We ordered their CARPACCIO which didn't stand out, it just felt like it's missing some oomph and wasn't too flavourful. The SEARED SCALLOPS were good, but it's just hard to justify it when they only serve you 3 pieces. Lastly, we got their daily special which was a SEAFOOD PASTA. That was the highlight of the dishes we tried, they were quite generous with the white fish & shellfish, and everything tasted delicious and fresh with the light sauce. Now, for the wine lovers out there... I tried a $10 glass of their Quail's Gate ICE WINE for dessert. It was clean, sooo easy to sip, and just liquid gold. Besides that, my other favourite wine here is their DRY REISLING! read more

We came here to celebrate our friends birthday. We had a reservation for 4 of us and were seated promptly. Great view of the vineyard all lit up- great ambiance! Service was excellent. We ordered the mussels and tuna tartare for an appetizer. Was okay but nothing outstanding. I had the Cornish game hen with gnocchi for a main. The hen was delicious- perfectly juicy with a nice crispy skin-seasoned well! The gnocchi was tough and was a larger shape, kind of tough- not soft and pillowy like you would expect from your Nonna ... Our wine was delicious as well as the old fashions:) Desserts were also very tasty. Overall a nice evening out- would recommend. read more

Quails' Gate Winery has built its reputation on three pillars: providing consistent high-quality wines, delivering an exceptional visitor experience and ensuring excellence in customer service. I had the privilege recently to dine at the stunning Quail's Gate Winery located in Beautiful West Kelowna. Quail's Gate Winery definitely lived up to their reputation of these pillars. The Old-Vines Restaurant at Quail's Gate Winery is one of the original winery restaurants in West Kelowna and is one of the top-ranked in the Okanagan. The menus are passionately created by an award-winning culinary team who taste the wine from grape to glass to perfectly pair with local and sustainably sourced ingredients. Supporting Oceanwise and local farmers, Chef Roger Sleiman's philosophy is to stay authentic to the Okanagan while still offering innovative and forward-thinking culinary delights. Upon arrival at the Old-Vine Restaurant at Quail's, we were greeted by a lovely hostess who promptly seated us at our table. Without a hesitation, our waitress was introducing herself and explained the features. We were given a few minutes to look over the drink menu before ordering our wine and local beer. During our lunch at Old Vines, we ordered the Quail's Gate Winery 2019 Gewürztraminer. This is by far one of my favourite wines produced by Quail's Gate Winery. With so many delicious options to choose from, our decisions for what to eat was tough. However, after sometime we were able to decide on the following: Appetizers: - Grilled Farmer's Carrots - roasted garlic hummus, parsley, za'atar, paprika oil - Seared Albacore Tuna - espelette aioli, fennel, grapefruit, puffed rice Main Courses: - Arctic Char - farro, coconut lemon sauce, cilantro & daikon radish - Yarrow Meadows Duck - smoked breast, carrot purée with orange & vanilla, dauphine potato, duck jus Dessert: - Lemon & Cranberry Tart - cranberry gel, lemon curd, whipped rosemary lemon ganache - House Churned Sorbet - vanilla salted butter shortbread Our menu choices did not let us down. The colours were beautiful. The flavour profiles were delectable. The vegetables were perfectly cooked to maintain their freshness and flavour. The duck and Arctic Char were prepared perfectly as well as perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Old Vines was very accommodating when it came to my allergy requests as well. Taking the time to ensure there was no cross contamination and prepared safely. I highly recommend Old Vines Restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious menu, incredible views, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic service. read more

We stopped in at the Beautiful Quail's Gate winery & decided to have Lunch before our tasting. Old Vines is a simply stunning restaurant with it's gorgeous view windows overlooking the Lake & distinctive architectural style. And yes, The food & wine match up. We started with their lovely Stewart Family Reserve Chardonnay, it was crisp & had the perfect touch of French oak to pair with the steamed mussels & clams in a tasty chorizo white wine & cream broth. Of course, we couldn't decide between the house-made sourdough bread or the Parmesan truffle fries to accompany so we got both, and they were fab dipped in the broth. For our main, we shared the grilled chinook salmon which was good but I did not care for the cold orzo & kale mayo dressed salad they placed it upon. It was a small portion and quite pricey. Would stick with the clams, mussels & fries next time. Our server was helpful & friendly , don't miss this experience! read more

The view here is just spectacular - ask for a table with a view cause it really makes us great. Located on a winery in west Kelowna, this upscale resto was packed on a weekday night but we managed to get a last minute reservation at 20:45. We ordered the sourdough to start as well as the tuna tartare appetizer. Unfortunately the sourdough never came and we had ended up eating it for desert. I found it a bit odd that our waiter didn't apologize for forgetting it or taking it off the bill. Sourdough was very Good but the butter was overly salty. The tuna appetizer was the highlight of the meal. Excellent mélange of textures and flavours leaving us wanting more. For mains, we shared the rabbit and the halibut. Rabid was a bit overdone but still had good flavour. We preferred the jus over the other sauce they provided on the plate. Halibut was excellent and had a unique and flavourful chorizo sauce. We paired our meal with a bottle of Gewürztraminer which was perfect. Overall review for food would be 3.5 stars but the view and wine makes it a solid 4! Would recommend for the experience read more

The last meal of my Labour Day long weekend getaway to Kelowna with 5 girlfriends was lunch at Old Vines Restaurant at Quails' Gate Winery. Although it was a bit breezy outside, we sat on the patio as it was still beautifully sunny out, and it had amazing views of the mountains, lake, and vineyards. We all shared a variety of appetizers and entrees between most of us: * Oysters on The Half Shell (several orders), * Halibut Ceviche, * Kale Salad, * Steamed Mussels, * Duo of Pork, * West Coast Halibut, * Seafood Taglierini, * Mezze, and * Truffle & Parmesan Fries. Everything was so good! My favourites were both Halibut dishes, Steamed Mussels, Duo of Pork, and the fries. What a great lunch to finish off our short trip. Our meal was subsequently followed by a wine tasting and a photo op at the end of their vineyards. Such magnificent views! read more

I went here with my partner for Valentines and it was an amazing experience. We had a 3 course set menu with wine pairings. We ordered champagne while we were waiting, and got very light and delicious champagnes (the blue mountain champagne was my favourite). We then started with the fried halloumi, and pork belly and scallops. Both were very good but the halloumi stole the show. Absolutely delicious! They were paired with the 2019 Chardonnay and 2020 Chenin Blanc. Both were quite nice and light wines. Then we shared the Arctic Char and Wagyu Steak. The Char was paired with the 2019 Family Reserve Chardonnay and the Wagyu was paired with the 2019 Queue. It was honestly some of the best fish I have ever had, and they made an amazing sauce for the grilled cabbage it came with, that made cabbage better than I have had before. The Chardonnay was also so nice we bought a bottle! The wagyu was also perfectly cooked and served with a delicious pasta. The Queue was a bit acidic for my taste but still good. The dinner was then finished with a beautifully decorated chocolate cheesecake paired with 2019 Botrytis Affected Optima. The cheesecake was so nicely flavoured and the ice wine was fantastic. We then ordered espresso and an espresso martini to end the night and both were nice and definitely strong. Overall, from my experience I was very impressed and would definitely recommend this restaurant. In addition to an amazing dinner, our server was so nice and friendly and the interior and exterior of the restaurant was beautiful. Located on the Quails Gate Winery estate, this restaurant offers high quality food in a gorgeous setting. In addition to 2 bottles of their best wines - (we had a party of 8), we had some mixed drinks (most good, one not properly prepared). The food was good - lamb shank, bouillabaisse, arctic char, fries, raw oysters. We had wanted to try the roast lamb special, but weren't able as our server apparently didn't write down our orders correctly. That brings up the quality of the service, which was disappointing (hence the 4-stars rather than 5). Our server got two orders wrong (two lamb specials requested, she got us lamb shanks instead, and the special had run out by the time our food finally came). A martini came at room temperature ... not what you'd expect in a good restaurant. There were several other small breaches of good server etiquette (e.g. extended reaching across a guest to clear a plate) - nothing major, but not what you'd expect from a high-end restaurant. I'd definitely go back, but I hope the server we had was just inexperienced. read more

If you're in the area, you probably want to stop by Old Vines to have lunch. They have it all here. You get a spectacular view overlooking Okanagan Lake. The staff are terrific and the friendliest service I received in Kelowna. And lastly, food is delicious. I had the Spring Salmon with potatoes, olives, pickled beans, quail eggs and kale. The salmon was moist and perfectly cooked. The only thing to keep in mind is the portions aren't very large, but that's expected with find dining. Try to get a seat outside. If the patio is full, the dining room will still be fine. There's something about Old Vines that's incredibly relaxing. read more

Such great service and wine! Too bad the food is so bad. When the restaurant needs comps 2 out of 4 entrees there is a problem. Comp-ing an entree that you don't eat really means nothing in the way of care or customer service. We had the salmon, Cornish game hen x2, and the halibut. Would not recommend any of these. We had a late seating (8:30) for dinner, no excuse if the cooks (I'm not using the term 'Chefs') were 'tired'. If the restaurant management wants the specifics about the entrees, I'd be happy to share. We've dined here quite often and are wine club members. We returned specifically for the Cornish hen which was delicious in January 2022. So good I was boasting about good it was, such a disappointment on our return. Our server, Danielle, was incredible. She was polite, very knowledgeable, and very attentive. read more

Beautiful views. I first came here 5 years ago and returned on Friday with clients with high expectations. These expectations were met and exceeded. We were sat outside on the patio overlooking the vineyard. It's a little cooler this time of year and they offer blankets if you need them. We ordered a bottle of their rose which was pretty nice. Couldn't find it on their retail list unfortunately so I couldn't buy a bottle. I had their daily meat special which was a steak with some vegetables. My piece was a bit tough. One of my dining colleagues ordered the same and she found hers too salty. Mine was well seasoned. Though I had to shuffle some of the large sea salt flakes around. She probably did not do that and had a whole mouthful of salt. Another person ordered the crazy chicken (I can't remember what it's actually called). Heard it's really good. They were very accommodating with my dining partners' dietary restrictions without putting up a fuss Definitely returning but will try something other than their chewing steak read more

Simply the best most romantic place to go. The food is outstanding service is excellent.oh and the deserts my gawd

Some great atmosphere on offer at the Old Vines Restaurant, nice wine flights and one of the prettier settings in the Okanagan, on par with the feel of Brix in Napa. I have to add the caveat that the food is just so-so. I wish I could rave, I want to be able to, but much of the food this week came up a short. However, the setting is wonderful, a five, even if the food is about a three. I know, that is probably a let down. I'm not saying the food is awful because its pleasant enough, but its not terrific. But hey, look around, this place is gorgeous. We got one order of the duck confit with quinoa. I love duck breast, but between you and me, I don't know why we keep ordering duck confit. It always sounds so french, like it will be so wonderful and gamey, but then it arrives and its just a pan fried duck leg that tends towards the dry and stringy, even when well prepared. We also ordered a cod dish that looked promising when it walked past heading to another table, and here we are by a lake, so must be good. The cod was fresh (!!!) and had been cooked in chard and lots of sauce, so it turned out to be a little too salty, savory, and saucy, overpowering the fish itself. Can anyone say no to truffle fries? Although this may not qualify as a vegetable, here it is on the menu, and even just okay truffle fries (they are) are good truffle fries in my book. The wine flights come set into in a terraced, iron work glass contraption that makes a fun spectacle at the table. The reds here are really nice. Did I mention the setting? It can not be overstated how beautiful it is here in the summertime with the windows flung open and with this wonderful views of flowers, terraced vines, cool patio stones, mountains jutting up in the background, and a clear lake below. Three for the food, five for the setting and service, and a four for the wines. Overall, a good bet. Perhaps stick with wine flights and nibbles (meats, cheeses, olives and truffle fries) for a sure thing. read more

One of the nicest lunches I've ever had. We managed to make a reservation for 2:30pm, which was perfect timing for us. The restaurant overlooks the picturesque Okanagan Lake. We got a table on their outdoor seating. It was perfect, shaded from the sun, and a light cool breeze, with breathtaking views. Their menu is simple, with lots of West coast seafood choices. Our table ordered some oysters, a Spinach Salad with pea sprouts, toasted almonds, prosciutto crisp, goat feta, rhubarb vinaigrette, and I got a BC Albacocore Tuna with sundried black olive and organic quinoa salad, anchovy and lemon vinaigrette. There were many pieces of the tuna, and the quinoa salad was heaping, and very refreshing, especially with the lemon vinaigrette. Oysters were fresh as well. We ended off the lunch with some desserts and cheeses. Of course, I got the creme brulee. This was a larger than normal portion, and it was creamy and thick, and the vanilla flavour was outstanding. Service was exceptional here. Water glasses were always filled, the waitress was very attentive, and it made the lunch even more pleasant. What a beautiful patio and view from the restaurant! We were a little late for lunch and too early for dinner but we were able to order off of their tapas menu which didn't disappoint. You can choose from a variety of meats and cheeses as well as soup, truffle and parmesan fries, a seafood platter and crab cakes. We ordered the carrot ginger soup to start with some bread. The soup was absolutely delicious with a nice creamy consistency and the ginger and other herbs (I think nutmeg) did not overpower the soup. It was perfect for the cool rainy day we were having. Second we chose a charcuterie board of 2 meats and 2 cheeses to share. We had the Sour Tuscan Salami and the Duck Prosciutto which were both delicious. They were cut very thinly and cured perfectly. The duck prosciutto was my fave! For cheeses we ordered the White Grace Moonstruck which was a firmer cheese and the Blue Juliette Salt Spring Island which was a goat's milk, blue cheese with some blackcurrant. It was very delicious as well. The board came with some crackers, bread, mustards and dried fruit. It was a really beautiful spread and it hit the spot for 3:30 in the afternoon. Of course, we accompanied the meal with some white wine from Quails' Gate since this restaurant resides in it's winery. It was also very enjoyable. The service was also very good and the view was fantastic. It was a great way to finish off the afternoon. read more

Excellent restaurant with gourmet items. The maitre D was very nice and chatted with us, and our final waitress was a delight who livened up the meal. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars was... there was a junior maitre D or perhaps seating assistant that tried seating us next to a family with 2 screaming infants. The screaming was extremely loud. They did not want to initially reseat us but eventually moved us to a table across the room when we insisted. Given that we were a party of 4 and dropped over $300 on dinner this should not have been an issue. Everything else was great. In the future please do not hesitate to ask parents with screaming children (and I do mean SCREAMING) to calm them or step outside. read more

Beautiful patio and view! The ambiance of this restaurant was pleasant and relaxing. We were very disappointed with the overall experience though. Our server was very nice but it took a while for her to take our order. Our main entree took over 45 minutes to arrive and when we asked our server to follow up, she was confused as to "what seems to be the problem" and we had to point out the fact that our food never even came yet. We got the oysters on shell which was nothing special, the daily soup (carrot soup) was decent, and I ordered the scallop special which was overly salty. Just after the overall experience, we decided not to order dessert or more wine as we just wanted to quickly eat and quickly leave. We already had more than enough time to enjoy the view. Unfortunately, I probably would not recommend this place to my friends or family. I would probably only come back if it was only for wine. read more

This was a must on our girls trip!! I've been to Quail's Gate many times in the past and have always wanted to dine in the Restaurant. We did make reservations, which I recommend. We actually came back at the end of our day wine tasting on the West Side to have dinner here. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. I had the Octopus to start and my girlfriend had the Asparagus. I was impressed with the cook on the Octopus since you never know if it may be chewy but it was cooked perfectly and to my surprise was a fairly large serving. An entire tentacle. I had the Lamb two ways for my main which had fiddleheads as a veggie accompaniment. I grew up picking and eating Fiddleheads back east so this was a treat for me. My girlfriend had the Falafel's which where homemade and absolutely delicious. We both had a glass of wine to go with our meals and enjoyed the beautiful view and the warm weather and breeze off the lake after a 34 degree day of wine tasting. I loved it so much I brought my husband back her for dinner 3 days later when he joined my in Kelowna. This has to be one of my most favorite restaurants at the wineries in the Okanagan. read more

Nothing beats a great view, great service with attentive staffing and a balcony. Of course the food has to be on par with all of that. My meal was good. very good. What did I have? Salad - see pic and you'll know that it has goats cheese and nuts and it was yummy. Maybe a bit too much dressing, but it was tasty. The next dish was the Halibut and skinny little fries. The fish was on a bed of mushy peas. I love mushy peas. The batter was light, I think the oil was fresh because the fish didn't have an overly dark colour to it and it wasn't oily. The fish was moist inside and I could taste the natural flavour of the fish. Meaning it wasn't overly salted. Lastly was the cheese and a cup of coffee. Great selection of cheese which would have been paired better with the wine, but I had to drive. So coffee was it for me. Makes me think, I should do this more often. I'd get used to this. OH. they also have bottled water from Quebec. I was told it tastes like a fresh snowball (the good kind) and it did. Can't remember the name, but it was a nice bottle of water! read more

We have been to this restaurant a number of times and it's always good. Why do we go a lot?? Because it's the restaurant beside Quails Gate and we looooove Quails Gate wine/winery. This restaurant is very high class. Small servings but great quality. The Dungeness crab cakes are the best!! Also the truffle French fries. Go here in the spring/summer...sit on the patio and enjoy the gorgeous view! Only complaint is that there were at least 6 empty tables and we were sat at the bar because they were "really busy".
