Called them because I ran out of oil for the second time this year, despite being on auto delivery. Said they'd send a truck. Called back and told me they are going to send a tech instead, because they thought it was an issue with the burner. Left work to meet the guy. He replaced several parts, said none of it worked. He then asked me if I had oil. He checked the tank and had a truck sent. Went back to work. Got home that night and couldn't bleed the lines. Called service and they sent a tech out at 8pm. The first tech didn't connect one of the lines, because it was stripped. That night my house stunk of fuel oil, and I had to leave some windows open. I get home from work the next day, and the exhaust is blowing out thick smog outside the house. Shut the burner down and called service again. No one called back that night. Had to leave work the next day to meet a third tech. He cleaned the system and told me that one of the parts that was replaced wasn't installed correctly, which was the cause of the smog. Two days later they send a bill. I called to contest it. The supervisor gave me a grunt, and said "fine I'll take care of it." No apologies, no offer to clean the side of my house that is permanently stained from all the smoke that blew out. I've had service with them for years, they even replaced the boiler three years ago. This is the second issue I've had, that they shrugged off.

Damage to the top of the tank

One star is overly generous! My nightmare experience w Bottini: New boiler and water heater not only looked a complete mess (people actually laughed at it!); The boiler went out 12 times in the coldest winter. They finally deduced it was a blocked oil line but blamed me for not having requested one when everything was installed. (This was after my pipes froze for having no heat...). Next the water heater allegedly broke this year, after just 4 years. They said "those type of heaters don't do well in areas with hard water" (go figure). I've had two second opinions and the heater was installed incorrectly. They refuse to acknowledge or take ownership of any of the above and rectify the situation. They offered me a service plan gratis for a year, and an embarrassingly small credit. I declined at first as I should have been compensated more, but as they would not budge, I finally accepted. However, I never even received the credit. Ironically, they are now harassing me to pay labor charges for the replacement water heater (which I paid - but deducted the $250). They then went ahead and charged my credit card without authorization (so I had to dispute it and cancel my card) and blatantly lied about the conversation we'd had. I requested that the girl in accounting that charged my card stop communicating with me - yet she is STILL sending me letters about my 'overdue account'. I have always paid on time, never defaulted on a payment, have told them I will pay the amount I actually owe - yet they have spent hours of my time and theirs harassing me over a measley $250...which they owe me anyway? If it wasn't such an utter waste of my time, it would almost be quite amusing. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg. You would think a company who claims to have over 60 years of operation without a blemish on their reputation would endeavor to keep that reputation intact, especially with the future of energy rapidly moving away from fossil fuels. All of the above, along with their failure to return unclaimed customer funds to the state a few years ago, clearly indicates a company completely devoid of any business ethics. Using Bottini was the worst decision I have made. If you start asking around, the Bottini nightmare stories soon start flowing. Do yourself a favor. Don't touch them with a barge pole!

The cost was VERY reasonable and well below several competitors bids.

The customer service rep was just doing his job. BACKGROUND: I prepare taxes. Because of a law…read morechange in NYS, Fuel Oil Companies must have at least 10% bio fuel in their deliveries as of 7/1/25 which means Fuel Oil Delivery customers get a partial NYS tax refund based upon the gallons delivered and the percentage of Bio Fuel. EVERY single oil fuel delivery company I've called, except for Petro, promptly informed me that as of 7/1/25 they have 10% biofuel delivered to their clients. Petro apparently is not aware that there is a NYS tax refund for oil deliveries that contain 6% or more bio fuel. I called Petro 2 times and I emailed them. They never answered my email. All the CSRs told me was "it's up to 20%" which does not answer the question. How much is being delivered NOW? PETRO, YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS WILL BE A BIGGER DEAL IN 2026 FOR NYS TAX REFUNDS IN 2026.

These yahoos dont even deserve their 2.3 overall rating. I paid $400+ for their "Maintenance Plan"…read moreand the one time I used it the service tech tried to get me to agree to a $2200 maintenance item that, of course, was not included in my plan. When I declined, he said they would "throw in" another service that was worth $500 and would be included in the $2200. When I pointed out to him that either: (1) the service was not worth $500 or (2) the $2200 service was overpriced at least $500 he got a little testy in his Eastern European accent. They just filled my oil tank at $5.47 per gallon. Just do a search on google for the average price of #2 heating oil and in my town it is averaging between $3.75 and $4.25. These bozos will rip you off if you let them.
