I have advocated as positive as I can for Bottini while not lowering my score for them, however yesterday this weekend was not necessary. As a customer I am on a fixed payment plan and locked in pricing, I agree to delivery on their schedule using their forecasting tool that tells them what my tank should read. It has never been accurate, in fact as of this weekend it was off by 25%. Now this is important as you get close to needing fuel. It they have me higher then I will run out if I trust their forecasting, but I can upgrade for $150 to a digital that they can monitor in real time. This has led me to have many conversations, especially when doing a contract. I make sure it is okay to call in a request and not go by fate of the oil gods. It is never an issue. They even have a spot in the app that you can do that for that reason. EVERY time, someone tells me I do not need a delivery. Every time, I have to call and explain - this is what my gauge reads. I know you service a huge client base. I am sending an awareness message as at times it can take a week or more to get on a delivery schedule. Oh, okay. Saturday, I was told my tank is not as low as I said. Excuse me? I'm looking at it. Well, what changed? Perhaps the 20 degree temperatures and single to teen overnight lows? The month prior we were 30/40 degree days and 20 overnights. Maybe I am using more hot water? Who cares. You don't need a delivery as you should only use 10 gallons a day. Well, if you need us to deliver this week or keep calling we can remove you from fixed pricing and terminate your contract. We cannot just add you to our delivery as emergent as there are people who need oil more! No one asked to be added to todays cycle or even this weeks. I sent a request indicated the tank level which is an option. You determine when to place me into rotation knowing that your forecast is incorrect. That's not how it works. We can charge you full price. Manager, Dana was no more helpful - coming out the gates very smug unless that's her speaking tone always to which, yikes. Basically I can deliver on Thursday or she can cancel your contract. This being my option because when an agent threatens to cancel my fixed pricing or contract, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Dana went on to tell me I abuse the system by calling in a request and that they never fill my tank completely and that I waste their time when drivers could be servicing those in need. It didn't matter I was told I should call when the tank is at 3/8 to 1/4 to let them know to get me adjusted in the schedule. It doesn't matter that they are given the precise level and can determine where I should fit in the delivery schedule. It also doesn't matter that this is only a winter issue and in the summer they use their forecast and have delivered a few times when my tank was more than 50%. Manager Kelly was more helpful and notated my account that I can call in and that they can determine when to schedule as I have never demanded a deliver within a day, I am merely saying I need one with the next weeks. I was told that more home owners should be like me and give an appropriate heads up as they no rally get people without oil in emergency. If that's the case, then why did everyone before argue me? Between being threatened to be cancelled, having a driver tell me that they would not deliver because my drive way a sheet of ice in which I sent real time pictures and there was one area of wet slush on a 40 degree day, and a propane tank that was leaking for a week before I was taken seriously that my tank smelled and something was wrong, a technician charging me to turn a screw that my wife said I could handle later but it's not a problem he was in the radiator but conveniently forgot to mention if he turned the screw 1/8 of a turn and then back this was a full service charge - I think it's time for management to really listen to their customer experience. read more

Have been a Bottini propane heat customer since 2006. They've allowed my tanks to run empty at least twice despite the fact that I am on an autofill plan and have a CC on file to charge. This can be a dangerous problem in winter (frozen pipes). I am now currently almost empty again and it's going down to -1F tonight. This despite paying for an annual contract with them (Gremlin device) to monitor the tank levels wirelessly (so they know when they are low). Still, they let me nearly run empty. I called their customer service twice today but no one picked up (even on the emergency line where I waited on hold for over 10 min twice and never spoke to a person). I will call them at 8am tomorrow morning and demand immediate fuel delivery and an explanation. This will be my last winter with Bottini, I've had it. read more

The Bottini fuel staff is extremely rude and very unpleasant; they are short and unprofessional. I would look elsewhere if you can. Asking questions to verify the details of my account just got me sarcasm and condescending tone. I just had questions, who else am I supposed to ask? That level of mistreatment, when I was being kind and dignified was uncalled for, I promptly closed my account and was met with an even more condescending person. She was happy that I closed my account, then when I told her to have a good day she responded in the most sarcastic tone. I imagine that the work environment there must be extremely toxic, a culture of slime, similar to the substance that forms on the top of still water found outside of a sewage plant. Give your money to a smaller company that might actually appreciate your hard-earned money. When you sell a product to the general public your business becomes customer driven, without the customer you don't have a business. Bottini inspector Mike told whole propane tank needed to be replaced when some leak was found from gas line where propane tank gauge was attached and Bottini could not deliver the propane if my 500 gallon underground tank was not replaced immediately(he said gas line, gauge and tank are all in a single body(what a lie!) even when I asked if the top portion is separated from the tank. But, another service guy from Crown LP guys found that it just needed a little bit more screwing (1/4 turn) of top gas lines. I reported this to Bottini, but another guys just yelled at me and nobody from Bottini apologized for it and they refused to deliver propane to me for over 10 years. It ssems they have my phone number and address on the their file even after 10 years of rip-off try. read more

This company refused to deliver because the road was "too icy" after I spent a fortune having it salted and sanded after I had been a customer for years. I was out of heat in 20 degree weather for more than a day trying to make the road ok for them . I begged them to send a small tank or give me some other advice or help and they refused. Instead of getting a straightforward answer, I was met with a vague "Revised Invoice" scratched out on a word document that didn't account for the original double billing. When I requested an official invoice and statement showing the credit applied, Bottini gave me an unbelievable excuse--they claimed they couldn't provide it because the records were destroyed in a cab fire. Total liars.. This bizarre explanation raised red flags, and the more I dug, the more I realized that this wasn't just a simple mistake. Bottini Fuel has a history of shady practices, including a multi-million dollar settlement for defrauding customers by diverting overpayments into dummy accounts. It's a pattern of deception that goes far beyond just one incident. Google them they are pure criminals.. How they are allowed to stay in business is either incredibly miraculous or speaks to the equally shady people we have in government. Called them because I ran out of oil for the second time this year, despite being on auto delivery. Said they'd send a truck. Called back and told me they are going to send a tech instead, because they thought it was an issue with the burner. Left work to meet the guy. He replaced several parts, said none of it worked. He then asked me if I had oil. He checked the tank and had a truck sent. Went back to work. Got home that night and couldn't bleed the lines. Called service and they sent a tech out at 8pm. The first tech didn't connect one of the lines, because it was stripped. That night my house stunk of fuel oil, and I had to leave some windows open. I get home from work the next day, and the exhaust is blowing out thick smog outside the house. Shut the burner down and called service again. No one called back that night. Had to leave work the next day to meet a third tech. He cleaned the system and told me that one of the parts that was replaced wasn't installed correctly, which was the cause of the smog. Two days later they send a bill. I called to contest it. The supervisor gave me a grunt, and said "fine I'll take care of it." No apologies, no offer to clean the side of my house that is permanently stained from all the smoke that blew out. I've had service with them for years, they even replaced the boiler three years ago. One star is overly generous! My nightmare experience w Bottini: New boiler and water heater not only looked a complete mess (people actually laughed at it!); The boiler went out 12 times in the coldest winter. They finally deduced it was a blocked oil line but blamed me for not having requested one when everything was installed. (This was after my pipes froze for having no heat...). Next the water heater allegedly broke this year, after just 4 years. They said "those type of heaters don't do well in areas with hard water" (go figure). I've had two second opinions and the heater was installed incorrectly. They refuse to acknowledge or take ownership of any of the above and rectify the situation. They offered me a service plan gratis for a year, and an embarrassingly small credit. I declined at first as I should have been compensated more, but as they would not budge, I finally accepted. However, I never even received the credit. Ironically, they are now harassing me to pay labor charges for the replacement water heater (which I paid - but deducted the $250). They then went ahead and charged my credit card without authorization (so I had to dispute it and cancel my card) and blatantly lied about the conversation we'd had. I requested that the girl in accounting that charged my card stop communicating with me - yet she is STILL sending me letters about my 'overdue account'. I have always paid on time, never defaulted on a payment, have told them I will pay the amount I actually owe - yet they have spent hours of my time and theirs harassing me over a measley $250...which they owe me anyway? If it wasn't such an utter waste of my time, it would almost be quite amusing. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg. You would think a company who claims to have over 60 years of operation without a blemish on their reputation would endeavor to keep that reputation intact, especially with the future of energy rapidly moving away from fossil fuels. All of the above, along with their failure to return unclaimed customer funds to the state a few years ago, clearly indicates a company completely devoid of any business ethics. Beware that Bottini compensates customers for positive reviews! I was with Bottini for five years. For the most part, I had a decent relationship with them. I've seen their operation up close and I do believe they do the proper maintenance on their delivery vehicles eg changing filters to ensure customers' systems don't experience issues related to fuel oil quality. And this is the number one reason you should pick an oil delivery company. But: I did encounter automatic delivery challenges that would have left us empty if we hadn't taken action. Bottini's handling of the situation was a dissappointment. Questionable top-offs when large downward swings in oil prices occur. When asked about these practices, of course, Bottini had no idea what I was talking about. A secondary reason for going with Bottini was that they are a local company providing full service. When I did use their repair services I was a bit surprised at the prices - $300 to install an $11 part. Their maintenance programs are steep so I opted to go with another party for those services. This past season they failed to communicate with me during summer registration as they normally do and as a result, I missed the summer sign-up price cap. When I called to question what happen I got lame excuses and then to my surprise a high-pressure sales job. I'm not sure they realized but this is a primary differentiator that a full-service company offer. I've known for a while that Bottini hasn't really been that good to locals: Google search - bottini oil attorney general and you'll see that they defrauded customers. If you are a Town of Poughkeepsie resident they've had an epic battle with the Town over the New Hamburg filling station that is costing the town a significant amount in attorney fees. In addition, I've witnessed Bottini delivery drivers aggressively tailgating vehicles on local roads. If you aren't comfortable with oil delivery and you want a local, full-service company and get a quality product and are willing to pay a premium for it; Bottini is a local choice. My experience is the other smaller operation options in the area provide better value, better communication and are local friendly. read more

Incorrectly connected propane to pool heater causing damage to the pool heater rendering it inoperable. Very clearly amateur work. They did responded promptly (same day) to a service call to fix their work. Second technician acknowledged the improper installation and got the heater working - although some lasting damage remains. The big B just bought out a mom and pop company i have used for decades with never an issue. Honest folks they were. Everyone retires so in doing so they sold to the big B. While they honored the balance of the yers price cap and auto delivery it came time to renew for 2023-2024. Here is where it gets interesting - Big B came locked and loaded and they did offer auto delivery, price cap and a budget plan but that service now comes at a premium price per gallon. They make you specify how many gallons you will buy AND add a 30 cents per gallon surcharge per gallon for what you wan to cap the price on that you need to pay up front. So if I say 1000 gallons there is a $300.00 surcharge on the front end at start of contract. . That means no matter what the market price is up to the inflated cap per gallon price I pay that + I am paying an added 30 cents per gallon more on every gallon. They think we are all mathamatically challenged or just plain stupid I suppose, Im not sure witch. One thing I am sure of is they will never see another dime of my money those thieving crooks. Bottini Fuel gives tenants "The Cold Shoulder". Just over a year ago, we came back to Bottini Fuel, despite having experienced problems with their customer service in the past. However, during this time, I have been reminded about why we left in the first place. We have had repeated difficulties with their customer service, which I want to make public. As a realtor, I frequently get asked for recommendations, and you can be sure that I steer people away from Bottini based upon my personal experiences. We have always had automatic delivery. Our previous oil company delivered faithfully, once in the spring and once in the fall. (Our fuel usage has been consistent for the past 8 years that we have lived here.) However, after switching to Bottini we didn't get our delivery as expected this past spring, and as a result, ran out of oil. When I put in an emergency call to Customer Service, I was told to have my landlord call as they were not "authorized" to speak to me. I called my landlord (who was travelling) who in turn called Bottini and scheduled an emergency delivery for the following Monday. Fall came and went - no "automatic" delivery. I called Bottini on Friday and was told to call my landlord. They also informed me that my tank should be half full, by their calculations, in effect, questioning my integrity. As I mentioned, our usage has been consistent for 8 years, only since we switched to Bottini have we had to place emergency calls for no heat. When I pushed for a delivery date, I was told "sometime after December 12th". Hmmm...if our tank is half full by their reckoning, why would they have a delivery scheduled for less than a month from now? I work with many area homeowners, some of whom choose to rent their homes either because they don't live locally and cannot keep an eye on any maintenance issues that come up, or simply for the extra income. Any good tenant would treat the home as their own and be diligent about staying on top of repairs, etc. Running out of oil should be easy to avoid when the gauge is in plain sight and easy to read (as is ours). It seems that two issues are contributing to emergency "no heat" calls: 1) Bottini's unresponsiveness to tenants (we are their customers too) and 2) their failure to properly calculate when a delivery should be scheduled. Both of these factors lead to extreme anguish on the part of the tenants and the homeowners. Even more serious is the potential for frozen pipes and all the damage that can cause. I'm sure Bottini charges a premium for an emergency fill up on a weekend or holiday, so the potential for frozen pipes is a real risk, especially this time of year when people are often away and not always paying attention to their fuel gauge, especially when they are under the false security of "automatic deliveries". The short of it is, they never told me my price cap plan I had for 2 years, did not extend in my 3rd year, so for all of 2022 I was paying top dollar for my deliveries. I also called to schedule my oil burner cleaning last summer, and their first available apt was not until March 2023 they have the nerve to charge me for a new service contract and cleaning when the last one was not done. Bottini took care of my fuel oil needs for 15+ years. I was happy with that and the service they did on my furnace. Then, I received a call this summer claiming I had not paid for a delivery. I said I was always home and never saw a delivery truck and had not found a delivery ticket or email bill. Yet, I paid over $300 using my credit card since they had always been reliable. Then, I found a second and third charge to my card on line--no delivery ticket or online bill. I sent a response that I did not authorize the use of my card without verification of a delivery. The next day, the e-mails noting these charges were each deleted. Within a week or two, a delivery was made for over $900 --I had been charged $291 the day of my notification that I required verification. The weather has been been really mild. The company is larger than most in the same type of business. This does not mean that they do things well. It does not mean that they care about their customers. If they spent half their effort on keeping customers instead of spending time attracting new ones, they would be better off. I had an issue in January and I did not at all like the way it was handled. With Bottini, the customer is never right. I took my heating oil business elsewhere and now that the weather is milder, the propane tank that they installed is going back to them shortly. To me, Bottini is like an abusive partner and they try to make you feel like there is something wrong with you. They billed me for service's I had refused for them to do, based on their outrageous price's in a quote! I later had to use a different company to fix what they couldn't do. I paid them for their first call which resulted in still no heat. They insisted I pay them for the next day's call in which they wanted to charge me to install a thermostat I was told to buy on my own. (Red flag)! I bought the thermostat & they wanted me to pay them $342 to install it! When I mentioned the service guy's name over the phone, they said they didn't have a "Ryan" even working for them! Instead of trying to fix it the man rearranged the logs in our fireplace and left. Soon after we realized our whole house was covered in soot. (Including the second floor) When we brought them in again to fix it they said it wasn't their fault because we were the ones who used the fireplace after they fixed it(imagine that). I have been been using bottling since purchasing my home in 2017. I see that many oil companies in Sullivan County NY are pricing at around 1.51. I called Bottini in time to lock in to their best rate and after some haggling they gave me a price of 2.09. This company misdiagnosed my heating issues, let me run out of oil in the winter and ignored by increased oil consumption while taking thousands of dollars out of my pocket all winter. I'd avoid using this company. Over 3k dollars later, they ignore my emails and keep charging my credit card 500 every 15 days. Sick! read more
