These guys not only put $1000 of fuel into the wrong tank, but then argued with me before admitting their mistake when I proved it with security footage. I ran out of fuel while out of town and had to drive back across states to prevent pipes from freezing. Gave them the opportunity to make it right, but they were not interested. I have been using Action Fuel for years. I made the mistake during the pandemic and locked in a fuel price with another company and their prices were ridiculous. Action Fuel never went as high as they were so I am back after a very poor decision for 1 year. I have never had to wait for service, they are here usually in the hour and they do a great job and their prices are reasonable. I will never stray again! I don't know about the bad reviews but I think they are amazing and the best company in the area. I scheduled a tune up for my boiler 2-weeks in advance. I took the day off so I could be home to let in the technician for the tune-up. The guy never showed up. I asked them what happened and they said since I wasn't on contract with them I was deprioritized and they canceled the appointment. They NEVER told me about this. So I stayed home for nothing and now I have to find someone on short notice during the peak season. They didn't even apologize, or offer to figure something out, for ghosting me. I actually get prioritizing customers on contract but why didn't they tell me this before they booked the appointment? Why couldn't they call me and tell me the guy wasn't showing up? I was new to the neighborhood and used this company for one oil delivery. Action Fuel helped themselves to my credit card information and charged me for an annual service contract that I NEVER signed or agreed to. I contacted the company and was told they will not refund me the money. In addition, when I request to speak to the owner (Wynne) he is conveniently unavailable and instructs his employee to inform me that the service contracts automatically renew. Do NOT use this company for anything, they are scammers and steal your credit card information!!! They will charge you for services that you did not agree or sign up for. Got my money back through the credit card company when ACTION management refused to compensate me after taking away the propane tank for the second time while charging me a yearly fee. And the tank was full of propane that hadn't been consumed yet! Since Mom passed away the house is lightly used in terms of cooking and heating. Action must think Im using another company for fuel I guess. Well going forward, I will look to change oil delivery sources for all my Mahopac homes and rentals. another bummer-I was overcharged for repairs. They do have a capable maintenance crew, who are very friendly, yet in my case, did not fix the problem of fumes entering the vented system into the house. I wont be calling Action again after years of patronizing their service. We can do better elsewhere. read more

I advise you to get your estimate in writing. I was told that Propane would be $4.29 a gallon and then was charged $6.99 per gallon. They said this was because my tank was so small. They knew this before delivery. They denied knowing the size of my tank beforehand. Please!!!! What business fulfills an order without knowing in advance how much to deliver. I am disappointed that we have used this company a few times for emergency service while we consider our options for contract service. We were told a few months ago that they were not signing customers up for budget billing, so we continued to use a cash oil delivery service. We unfortunately ran out of oil on a Sunday and needed an emergency 10 gallons with an exorbitant fee. We paid the fee because we were grateful for the help. They called this morning asking if we would like a delivery of more oil, and when I asked for 50 gallons, the manager started yelling at me accusing me of "using" his company for emergencies while we used COD Oil. I explained that this is why we paid the fee they require. I asked if he would prefer i order 100 gallons so he wouldn't have to "go out of his way" as he put it to deliver 50 gallons. He continued to be very upset. Everyone else had been so nice and accommodating and it is because of his behavior that I will never call them again or recommend them to anyone else. read more

In addition they took photos inside my home without my permission -to then bring it to the town building inspector. On 11/15/22 action fuel delivered 150 gallons of oil into my unfinished basement. We have been uprooted from our home and have been given nothing but problems from action fuel insurance company federated insurance covering our housing. As of yesterday our air bnb has been up. The insurance rep Katie who is assigned to our case has been nothing but rude and inconsiderate of our situation. As of today we have no place to live and Katie refuses to extend our air bnb. She has tried to take away my pets and has been nothing but nasty to us. This has been such a hardship on my family we don't know what to do anymore. The claim adjuster Katie is taking this out on us personally. And we currently have no place to go. When we try to explain this to her she has nasty remarks and simply tells us no or lies about what is happening. We were a loyal customer for four years until this past December when they overcharged us for a basic service repair parts: $180 for a $55 #60 overflow tank and $75 for a $15 relief valve. 100% mark up would be reasonable - but 320-500%? We left a complaint but they never responded so we closed our account. Not very smart business on their part - they'll wind up losing a lot more than the $150 they overcharged us for, especially when we start putting the word out. I'd like to thank Rob at Action Fuel for being knowledgeable, caring and most of all honest. I've dealt with many oil and furnace service providers over the years and unlike some of them, Action Fuel did the right thing for me and my family. Rob could have deceived me by saying I needed a much more expensive repair, because my knowledge of furnaces is pretty limited, but instead of a cracked heat exchanger Rob took the time to show me it was just missing a cover which caused all the trouble. The difference in cost would have been thousands of dollars. Like I said, Action Fuel gets five stars from me by being attentive to my problems, quickly coming over to my house, getting the job done, clearly and patiently explaining everything he was doing and most of all being honest. No problem with the fuel or service since they offer a great price compared to the competition, but they need a better person for their answering service. My husband and I were rudely cut off by a woman who sounded like she didn't want to be there when we called to ask if they were still out making deliveries. We called since we were told they would be here within the hour. That was at 10am, and our phone calls went out around 2:30PM. In the middle of politely asking her a question, I was cut off as she kept raising her voice at me. I seriously doubt I would call this company again on principle. Just bought a new house and shortly after I moved in, Action Oil "mistakenly" made an oil delivery under the previous owners contract even though the account had been closed out and the fuel prorated at our house closing. OK, honest mistake, I called them the next day and a helpful phone associate told me it was their mistake and I wouldn't be charged for this delivery, so I gave him my name and contact information to consider a contract with them going forward. Next thing I know, my name has been added to the old account and I receive a bill for the oil. I called and spoke to the same associate, who then put me on the phone with a very rude manager who told me that they "never lose on oil" and I might as well pay since otherwise I'd need to take them to court and pay court fees. read more

Great service! The owner personally has come out to our home when we had questions about uneven heat with our oil boiler (radiator heat). Very patient this winter with high heat bills as well. Staff is polite and helpful. Really nice folks here! We just bought a house in Carmel, NY and need it to find an oil provider. We went with Action Fuel. They by far had the best prices. However my review is for today. I called to have someone come check out our oil furnace since it stop working due to a meter panel being faulty. I neglected to get the guy name but he was EXCELLENT and offer advice since it was our first home. He fixed the problem in less an 30mts! Not only that I called around @ 8:00 AM and they were here in 30mts! I was completely impressed. He was excellent and very professional. Dishonest owner. Service contract customer for several years, but today I terminated the contract. Did not make timely deliveries in dead of winter on more than one occasion, then charged for service call to restart boiler. Delinquent in billing, then adds finance charge. Replaced a burner control one time, then after the fact, claimed it was not a burner control, and billed $600 for replacing a $150 part. Speaking with owner today was last straw. Will not do business with dishonest, incompetent owner any more. Avoid aggravation, go elsewhere for your oil. read more

I live in Miami, FL now. My ex wife and my children lived in Mahopac after I moved. Right after Hurricane Sandy hit the area, my family lost power/heating. Being that Action installed the furnace/heater in the house earlier, my ex called them. They came and agreed to accept the insurance payment from my (then) insurance company. The bill was reviewed by the insurance adjuster and subsequently approved and paid to Action, net of the deductible. Once an adjuster approves the payment and the payment is made, the case is closed. OK, here is where the unfairness comes in: about a month after the original invoice was given to my ex wife, they prepared a new, higher bill. My ex claims that she never received that bill. I received a threatening letter in Miami months, maybe years later, from a collection attorney in Briarcliff Manor, NY (let's call him SD). Upon receiving this correspondence, I called SD. No one picks up the phone. All I have in my hand is a letter, threatening to sue me and I have no way to actually have a conversation with this attorney. All I wanted to do was discuss what happened (the original bill, the payment made, the "new" bill for the higher amount that suddenly appeared, etc). No one ever called me! Being 1,300 miles away, it was a tough situation. I could not fly there to "try" to meet with SD. It gets better. Not being able to reach SD, the legal representative for Action in this matter, I called Action. They referred me to SD and well, you know what happened. I then emailed Action...no response. Then, I get served with a court order to appear in Putnam County Court! I called SD, no reply. I called Action. Nothing. I called the court. They could do nothing. So here I am 1,300 miles away and no one will discuss what happened, to lead up to this court situation. Then, the final straw was the next set of legal papers that I was served with about 1.5 years ago. They said I did not show up in court and therefore lost my case. They awarded Action the full amount (from the mysterious second bill) with interest, penalties and costs. This all could have been avoided if Action and SD would have discussed this with me. I have now been paying SD $100/month for almost 1.5 years to resolve this matter. I attribute this whole costly matter (costly to me) to the fact that Action would not discuss the matter with me, and then SD, their collection attorney, took the same standpoint. To summarize: Action screwed up, produced a phony bill, never mailed it, sued me in Miami (to appear in court in Carmel, NY), and neither Action nor their attorney would even take one minute to discuss what happened or acknowledge the emails that I sent over and over. All I want is a reduction to the amount that they are claiming they are due. Anyone can see that this is not fair to me and I am being taken total advantage of, being in Florida. SD has my address in Miami. Action or himself can contact me if he wants to resolve this. I don't know where else to turn, so I want to let people know to be aware of this unethical process that I have been enduring for a couple of years now. Have been using Action fuel for my heating oil deliveries since moving to Mahopac in 04. Always fare and usually lower with their prices per gallon even in the winter compared to other home heating fuel dealers in the area.I do all the service/maintenance on my burner myself so this was the first time using Action on the service end. I've been worried about my oil tank for quite some time which is located in the basement and probably as old as the home. Last fuel delivery noticed after fill up tank looked as if it moved and leg bent. I blocked it up for support after hyperventilating because I was scared tank would collapse . Called Action and Bobby came over and gave me a price for new 275 gallon tank ,legs, 2" supply, 2"vent,tank gauge,and fuel supply line to burner fired up and running after install. No-brainer and didn't even bother getting any quotes, literally set a date to have the work done with Bobby right then and there. Chris and Joe came today,transferred fuel from existing tank to temp tank,cut feed,vent and supply. removed tank,brought in new tank and piped everything back in and transferred fuel back in. Viola I'm up and running 6 hours later. Couldn't be happier with their workmanship,courteous and clean. I'm a plumber by trade and appreciate good work and I can honestly say I couldn't be happier starting from Bobby coming over to give me a quote, to the installation of the new tank and can't forget the ladies at the office who handle all the calls very kind,professional and courteous.Was stressed about this especially when it comes to oil spills and the damage you can do but tonight I can rest easy due to the great service and dedication shown by Action fuel and their workers. If I can give less than a one, I would. Boiler was replaced a couple of years ago within the first week I had a problem with the zone valve. Now again (2 years later) problem with the zone valve. I had someone come out who DID NOT fix it on the service call that cost $150.00 (claiming they wanted me to save money, meanwhile I'm losing money in oil every hour that goes by with my heat blasting out of the radiators) service guy blames the "shitty" water in the area for having to fix the zone valve so soon after it's new. I called back the next day since it was not fixed and was still having issues & they want to charge me another service call fee ... waited until the next business day to talk to Rob who probably dodges phone calls. (2days in still trying to talk to someone of authority there) The Person who answered the phone (male, really condescending ) tells me he's going to send someone out (doesn't discuss the cost) waits until an hour and a half before I have to leave for work after waiting all morning (when I call to confirm they are coming) to talk about price, accuses me of refusing the new part on the service call (bs) implying the service tech offered to change the part , and won't even waive the service fee especially after I have already paid (through HEAP). No customer service here. I'm only with them because of HEAP , but for the other half of the year I go to S&w always a couple of cents cheaper. By the way they don't have the best prices, the price they wanted to charge me was $189 for zone valve and $150 for labor. Real nice especially since the part only ranges in price between $50-$150. They try to rape money out of you, don't trust them at all. I REPEAT NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AT ALL. I suspect the service call on Saturday he put crazy glue instead of lubricant to try and fix the zone valve. read more

They installed a new oil burner less than a year and a half ago. I thought they were nice and trust worthy at the time. Being a single mom that was important. I was completely wrong. Called 3 months later because of a funny smell. They wanted to charge $187 for a service call. Woke up in the middle of the night on Sunday to a burning smell coming from the boiler. They were scheduled to come today between 8-12. Called me at 7:50 am to confirm my credit card # to ensure payment but never mentioned that they had a full schedule today and may run late. I called them at 12:15 to find out if they were coming since I had to pay someone to stay at my house. They wouldn't give me an estimated time and they were very nasty. The owner got on the phone and told me to call another company and suggested something else was burning in my house. As if I am an idiot. I would think that a company would be concerned if something they installed smelled like it was burning. It could be catastrophic, especially with children in the home. I do not think it is too much to ask for an estimated time or to be notified that they are running extremely late. I would advise you not to use this company. They do not back up their work and are extremely nasty. read more
