I'm a new customer based on a recommendation from a friend who lives in the area. AC on my second floor is not working. I had an appointment for a service call. They were supposed to come on Friday between 12 and 3. When no one came by 2:45, I called. The woman who answered called me back after she spoke with the technician. He got delayed at prior service call and wouldn't be able to come to me after all and they wouldn't be able to come until Monday. It is 100 degrees upstairs! I told her that their website says they work 24/7 and asked if they could send someone tonight. She said that I wasn't entitled to that service because I'm a new customer! Well, guess what? I'm a former customer now! PS - 15 minutes after I hung up I got a recommendation from another friend. I called and a technician will be at my house in a couple of hours. Tyler from American Heating and Cooling worked professionally and with care and respect in our home to identify why heat wasn't coming on in a zone (it was the thermostat) and solved the problem (installed a new thermostat.) Tyler's success is noteworthy because he had to deal with a Baxi heater, a European on-demand heating system that serves hot water to our faucets as well as to all the tubing under our floors to create radiant heat. Many locals aren't familiar with this heater. Tyler systematically worked to figure it out but also made sure we were billed fairly for the work done. Had them out in Spring 2021 to install five heads on two condensers in a residential home. They were the 5th company I had out to give an estimate. In the beginning, I was clueless, but as I learned and researched the proposals I was receiving, I had narrowed down on the solution I was looking for. I knew the location and size of heads, the condensers, distances, and\ even the model numbers for each manufacturer (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, Fujitsu, and Carrier). The more I learned, the sleazier the sales reps became; I had one rep from a local company, whose only business is installing mini-split systems, tell me he wasn't comfortable giving me the solution I wanted. After all, he must know what's best; this 20 something-year-old has an engineering degree(not that he measured anything) and worked for Mitsubishi before deciding to work for a local company selling mini-split AC systems. He came off condescending, sleazy, and unbelievable, and it didn't help that his solution came in over $33K and involved installing five separate outdoor condensers. Sorry, I don't want five outdoor units on the outside of my house, but apparently, unless I could convince him, change his mind, that was the solution I'd be requiring. It's not like I'm the client and I'm the one paying. Back to American Heating and Cooling, Luckily, a co-worker overheard me talking about my search for an AC system home solution. He suggested American Heading and Cooling because they had installed a 3 to 1 system in his house, and his neighbor had suggested them. So, already I knew of 2 previous customers that gave them recommendations. The sales rep welcomed my input and solution; all the sales reps have vendor training; the sales rep for American Heating and Cooling was also an installer. After verifying some of my measurements, we worked on a solution that I was happy with, and later that day, he provided me with a couple of estimates. I went with a $23K solution, which was right in the middle price-wise, with my lowest coming in at $15K and highest being $33K. I had to pay a third down to get scheduled, which I was a little worried about. The plan was for 1 crew to take 5 days; this meant between my wife and me, we had to clear up 5 days off. That was kind of a pain. Especially when they didn't show up the first day, now it would take 6 days, which we no longer have free. To my surprise, the next day, they showed up with three crews. It took the 3 crews 2 days and not 5 to install the units. The crews were very professional, efficient, and respectful of my house. If there is one negative thing I could say about the work, it would be the electrician. I could have had an electrician install the breakers and run a line, but I relied on American Heating and Cooling do it. And 2 things about his work, one he left about a couple dozen staples on the floor, which anybody, even my pets, could have stepped on, and he knocked over a paint can the spilled and didn't clean it up or tell us. The electrician's work wasn't indicative of the crews that installed the AC units. Afterward, they worked with me to complete and submit my rebate, which arrived about three months after the installation for the exact amount listed on the estimate. I usually only do restaurant reviews, but I am happy to give American Heating and Cooling a positive review and recommendation. read more

Devon arranged for a next-day visit. Coldest night of the winter so far, too. Luke arrived exactly on time, at 8AM, and in 2-1/2 hours (Just as Anthony had suggested) the unit was back in working order. He know his stuff, and was very pleasant to work with. I typically review based on consistency. You have to be really bad for me to give a bad review off one experience. And here we have American Heating and cooling in Dutchess, really bad. I called to get my AC checked out. Basic stuff. Check the outside equipment, check the inside blower. For some reason the guy wanted to get into my crawl space. I wasn't home and told my wife before I left, "There is no reason to go in the crawl space. Just show him the outside and the furnace room" According to my wife he tried to get down to the crawl space ( It's difficult. It's sealed up and you have to move some trimming and it swells in the summer and takes some work). After 15min he says he can't do it, we have to do it and he'll come back. Fine. What's this? A bill in the mail, from American Heating and Cooling for over $100 bucks! Yeah, you see they charge one hour minimum. I spoke to the owner and stated my case. I said I could understand paying something but over $100. And that's why years later I've never called them for and work on my house and always always be sure to let people know about my experience. Yes I could have fought it in small claims court but that's how they choose to do business and I think it's more important that people realise this than me getting my money back. read more

American Heating installed a Mitsubishi mini split hyper heat unit. The installation was neat and clean. Brian is a professional, courteous and very knowledgeable person. I was impressed when Brian removed his footwear upon entering our home. Brian was most patient when answering all our questions. His responses to our myriad questions were answered such that we could understand. It has ben a week since installation, and we are impressed with the heating ability of the unit. If not for the min split I would be using the wood stove "to take out the chill." read more
