Let me start off by saying I usually never write any reviews, unless the service is extremely good or extremely bad, and this company's experience was definitely the latter. I called ESD Mechanical to get me an estimate on a heat pump installation for central heating and A/C back in March of 2021. They came in, reviewed the job and gave me an estimate a few days later with a potential rebate from Central Hudson. Then the contract was signed and they agreed to start the work within 60 days (around mid July) of the signed contract, which was fine. To my surprise though, 60 days rolled around and nothing. Then out of the blue I get and email saying they were having an issue with getting some of the equipment from their supplier. Had all the other parts, but were waiting for the head unit. I asked if maybe they would start with the rest of the job and install the head unit later, but they said it would be a good idea to wait and do it all in one shot. To which I said ok I understand, there's been supplying issues due the Pandemic. Sept rolled around and nothing, so I sent the contractor a text and he said they still didn't have it and no good estimate as to when it will be in. I asked then to let me know as soon as it came. Nov came and went and nothing... same thing, I reached out inquiring and said by early Jan they should start seeing some roll in... He explained the Mitsubishi units should be arriving earlier, but they would be more expensive, so naturally I ask for an estimate for the diff, but never received it. It's March 2022 at this point so had to reach out again and was told by mid April should be in, and guess what nothing. May then was my last status check and nothing. So I never heard back a single time from them through out this time, so I happen to send him a text in April 2023, and he had the audacity to say "Oh I didn't realized you were still wanted it" Really? You didn't bother to send me a text to confirm when the units were in and arrived at that conclusion on your own.. . but wait it gets better, if I still want it he says, he won't be able to honor the same contract price he had giving me at the beginning. So I ask for the diff and he wanted 20% more than the original price. and of course the rebate would be much less.... Can you believe that? I know inflation is bad, but come on this is outrageous... so I proceeded to ask if he at least had the decency to meet me in the middle since he admitted they could have handled the communication better. To which he proceeded to say "that's the best price I can give you so I think we should just go our separate ways"... what a joke. If this is how their customer service is, I don't even want to think how it would have been getting them to service the units if the installation went through. I honestly think he realized the prices went up after the shortages and decided to prioritize his jobs with the few units available. Then he continue to stall my installation, purposely didn't reach out, so there would be an excuse to raise the price or cancel the installation all together. If you were thinking about getting your job done by ESD Mechanical, I would advise you to think it twice and do your homework. read more
