I'm a fairly new oil customer, maybe about 2-3 years. I get automatic oil delivery, maintenance service and BBQ fill ups from them. Their service to the Washingtonville area is excellent and their oil prices are fair. Never had an issue and would recommend them to anyone in my area. Sorry to take time to give update. After talking to management, they sent out another technician who again looked at the tanks . He told me that he was going to recommend that the tanks would need to be replaced. There was no true legitimate reason to replace the tanks. Depew is only looking to make money off of you. I ended up contacting another oil company who had to inspect the tanks before delivering the first time. After inspecting they recommended having the tanks replaced but they had no issues with delivering oil. Not all companies are like DePew. There are honest businesses that aren't trying to take advantage of you. read more

I had the best experience with Glen and Julio they came to install a new boiler they were on time, clean, neat answered all the questions me and my husband had they were great they were at my house for the entire day. I called Depew oil company to have them come over to service my boiler sometime in October. I payed about $295 for a 1 year contract to service my boiler. They showed up and serviced my boiler or so i thought. About 1 weeks later my boiler shut off and i had to re lite the boiler. Everyday after that i had to re lite my boiler about 4-5 times a day. I called Depew and was told they will not come back and check their work after the service and i would have to pay another $395 for someone to come out and take a look. I call another boiler company who came out and told me that the only thing that company did was change the oil filter. They never cleaned the inside of the boiler and never even opened the boiler to vacuum out all the soot that was inside. The stack was also covered with soot that was not cleaned. Ignition system was not cleaned and would not light. maybe if the Depew tech would've open that part to clean he would of know is was going bad. read more

I never do negative ratings for a business, I usually just move on. However today I must say that we were almost the victim of extorsion from DePew. This is hopefully a one time event and that it does not actually happen to others. I haven't had such bad and nasty over the phone customer service in a very long time. I am always an advocate for people I do business with even if I hear something not so great because I believe in giving the benefit of the doubt. Not this time. I cannot close my eyes to extortion and such awful customer service. You would think that someone that cares about the company would call to maybe do damage control, but that did not happen either. I guess when a company gets to a certain size, they don't actually care about their customers, just their own bank account. I used Depew for 12 years. Every visit was a hassle. 1) Always and I mean ALWAYS the highest price. Right now at the off season their 60 cents a gallon higher than competitors. Look at the fancy cars , big boat and expensive pick up trucks at their office and you'll know where your money goes! 2) They missed auto deliveries several times (usually right before a big storm) and then tried charge extra for emergency delivery. So what was the purpose of auto-delivery? 3) Every other visit they had to do something to the Boiler (even though it was new) plus every season I had to change the oil filter at least twice. At one point I thought maybe my tank was bad, so I scoped it , nope tank was in great shape but the crap in the tank was unbelievable. Truly I believe that they delivered the last drags of their tanks to me. 4) They overfilled the tank and did nothing about it -50 gallons on the ground - 600 gallon tanks aren't manufactured - fools. Its 275 gal or 500 gal or 550 gal but not 600! 5) a couple years ago they double billed me $1000 for the same delivery - argued it hadn't been paid and got real nasty when I told them it had. Went to the bank got the cancelled check, then they admitted they had applied my money to someone else. No apology though! Since I left Depew, my Boiler only needs to be serviced once a year, the filter is replaced once a year and my new oil guy always beats Depew's price by 30 cents a gallon. I promise you this there's a snowballs chance in hell I'll ever go back to Depew. read more

I am surprised by all the negative reviews here! I have used Depew for about five years for home oil and am new to them for home propane. They've always been great by me. Customer service has been reliable for me. I don't frequently call but when I do the office staff are plenty friendly and even more importantly they're helpful. Yesterday I ran out of propane, I thought I was on auto-delivery but had not yet set that up with them (I was auto for oil only). They came out in an hour and filled me up. I am on auto-delivery for oil and never run out, and never get a bill I don't think is fair. I have done the BBQ refills plenty of times and that has been easy and definitely the cheapest in the area. read more

Omg what a terrible business. i don't know what has happened to them lately. We have been with them for at least 8 years. My husband called to order oil from them and they gave us the wrong amount twice in a row. He asked for 100 gallons. And each time they filled it to the maximum. The first time might have been a mistake, but the second time seems like a practice to get more money from us. They apologized the first time and gave us extra time to pay the bill. But then they did it again! apologized again and gave us extra time. Then they tried to go into our account unauthorized to take payments What a sham! we always paid them on time. Now because of their mistake we have to pay another expensive oil bill. Im not one to say anything negative about anything. But this business stinks!! Questioned why 35' of copper @ 16.00 a foot when stove was 10' from tank. Jen told they overestimate but will only charge for what they use. Made appointment and never showed. Rebooked and went well. Paid them and asked Jen 3 times via email for invoice. Finally got invoice and they charged me 89.00 for flex line I provided. Asked Jen number of times why and she said she had to talk to tech. NEVER HEARD FROM JEN. Then talked to Fatos who said he would look into it. No response. Had enough and called Yankee propane and removed Depew's tank. I agreed to pay 1000.00 for their installation and wanted credit for 177.00 for unused gas and flex line. To date no response. Steve the mgr has no regards for concerns of customers. Moved into a new house with Depew as existing company. Due to their inflated prices, I continued with my previous propane company. When asked about credit for tanks, was told there won't be any due to pick up fees, yet they won't give me a pick up date. It has been over a week. So I am being charged 2 times for the unused propane and I'm being charged for a pick up fee when I am holding their tanks on my property. I won't even get into how rude and dismissive the receptionist was. Needless to say, she would not get me a supervisor. read more

If there was a way to leave no stars I would. I have been a loyal customer for almost 3 years. I recently moved to another supplier. I had over 40% fuel left in my 100 gallon propane tanks. I spoke to Pete their service manager and was greeted with a pure lack of professionalism on his part. I asked for a credit on the fuel that I had paid for. Pete continued to speak over me and tell me that's not in my contract. I asked about what contract being I never signed one. He told me well whatever the amount is he will just charge me for the drivers time and that's "how they do business". He's a pathetic excuse for a "manager" He offered no solution to a problem that I had. His attitude was horrible right at the beginning on the conversation. He even told me he was going to buy the company I moved to and the deal never happened. Depew should be ashamed to have someone like this running their business. read more

I'm a walk-in propane customer and I think their customer service is terrific. I grill all year long so getting a refill, not having to exchange tanks and having people be nice to me for a measly $12.00 is an amazing thing. There has never been a visit where I wasn't warmly greeted and generally treated like gold. I also pay with a debit card which many places give you a hard time about using if the purchase is under a certain amount. I get my receipt with a smile and genuine thank you. Something in short supply in the service industry these days. Outside at the tank they take the time to wipe down the tank if necessary, check it for safety and apply a new wrap if needed. They also put on a valve cover at no charge when they'd seen I'd lost one. If they notice my handicap tag in my vehicle they also offer to bring it to my car. It's not needed but it's the thought that counts. If you read my other reviews you know how critical I am when it comes to customer service. I come from Beacon to get my tanks filled here. That should tell you something. read more

Depew Oil delivered oil to my house under the website cheapcheapoil.com. Their driver urinated on the side of my house inches away from the oil tank pipe. I offered to email the video of their driver urinating on my house and saying "oh f*ck" when he saw the camera, but they werent interested in seeing what I saw. Apparently, this was okay according the office manager Danielle because in her words it was "an emergency" to which I then asked if it was her house how would she feel. She responded with she would be okay with it because "sh*t happens". So by that rationale, Depew Oil and it's management firmly stand behind their employees if there is an emergency involved. Be wary using this company unless you don't mind your house being urinated on and a $25 credit is sufficient for your troubles. In addition, when I stated that my child was home and could have witnessed this by stepping outside the backdoor the office manager didn't have much concern for it. If this is the way they want to run their business, you can be rest assured I will be staying far away from them and everyone associated with them. I advise everyone else to do the same unless you don't mind your house being used as a toilet. read more

Then her boss doesn't even get on the phone. He spoke to her to speak to me like be a man get on the phone and handle your business. As we are talking she keeps getting angry and started to yell. They came to do my annual service and recommended I replace my oil tank because the exit line wasn't quite large enough based on current recommendations. It was over 3k so I declined. Then, a couple weeks later, during the middle of a cold snap I called to get an earlier delivery, they said they would come on Wednesday and they wanted to have another person check the oil tank because it was flagged in their system, my wife and I both work 8-4pm but I said fine, just call me and I will take my lunch break and run home. They were a no show. Then I had to leave on a planned trip to help my daughter in VA, of course the driver called me on Thursday, and I was in Virginia and he said he couldn't deliver the oil until he checked the tank, I complained and explained the situation and he said he couldn't do anything. I then called to complain to the office and they didn't care, I explained that at this point it was an emergency and they didn't care. I talked to two different people, they said there we no trucks in the area and the best they could do would be to try and get a delivery out on Saturday but that my wife would have to be home to let the driver in to inspect the oil tank. Later the same day, when my wife got home from work, I called her to tell her what was going on and while we were in the phone she saw a Depew Oil truck drive by the house but it didn't stop. At this point I had to have a friend come over with 20 gallons of heating oil he keeps for emergencies and put it in my tank so my wife didn't freeze along with my water lines. Without a doubt the worse service I have ever received. I'm a low maintenance customer too. I use the budget pay, it's set up with automatic bill pay, I buy the insurance cap plan and the maintenance package and have been a customer for about 15 years. I never had any problems with them until they sold out. Ever since they sold, the previously nice, competent and laid back service technicians were obviously getting trained in upselling techniques because all of a sudden, every time they came, there was a new "recommendation" for repairing or replacing something. I'll be switching companies and never doing business with Depew Oil or their parent company again. read more

We recently bought a new home and Depew Energy was previously servicing the home so we decided to give them a try. We were also in need of a new boiler. We have been more than pleased with the service and competitive pricing. Steve and his team were professional, responsive and had very fair pricing. While we were still in the decision making process we ended needing service on the oil boiler and Steve was really flexible. He gave recommendations to to make it cost effective and did not try to over sell. I would highly recommend Depew and Steve. A good local business!! read more

Pick someone else for heating oil service (except Bottini - equally bad). We used them for 2-3 years before moving out of the state. We contacted them 5 days in advance of our house closing for a final measurement and the receptionist behaved like this was some kind of epically huge ask, as if this was some kind of novel thing no one had ever requested before, and maybe they could pull it off, but we'll see. Literally acted put upon to have to correctly take down all ten digits of my realtor's contact info to get the lock box code (we'd moved out months earlier). They do the reading four days before the closing but don't disclose the final balance. Meanwhile I have my lawyer (a very experienced real estate attorney in Orange Co. who does this stuff all the time) calling me constantly asking where the hell is the final reading? Finally it's the afternoon before closing and I call asking for them to email the reading to the lawyer and copy me. They say they'll do it right away and two hours later my lawyer is calling me asking WTF? because he's gotten nothing. I call again and receptionist tells me "oh the person who signs off on the measurement is out of the office for the afternoon, we'll do it tomorrow morning first thing." I say I really need it now and she says nothing they can do. So I'm scrolling my email by chance while she's talking me and LITERALLY CONCURRENT TO THE CONVERSATION they email me the INVOICE CHARGING ME $150 for some dude pulling up to my house and dropping a dipstick in my oil tank!!! So they have the wherewithal to bill me but not to render the service they're billing me for. I respond to the email notifying them that if they want to bill me for services not yet rendered while jerking me around we need to have a talk. Response from the company is to change their story yet again with a form letter email, now saying it's "company policy" to not issue a final reading until the morning of the house closing (because apparently closings are not stressful enough). The whole thing smacked of a do-nothing company exploiting a captive customer who's on the hook for $700 worth of oil they've already bought who's already moved out of the service area and has no choice but to pay up so they can just get the hell out. Best thing I can say about the whole thing is, I'm damn glad to be the hell out. read more

We have used Depew for over 10 years. Be aware that they are scamming customers! 3 years ago, they replaced a very expensive part of my boiler without my consent and I was forced to pay for it despite my arguments. They mislead you to believe they have a good contract. It only covers a discount for labor and it covers the bare minimum on parts. On one occasion, their repair man took 3 hours on labor, but it was only because he didn't know what he was doing. He kept calling other people and trying different things. But I got stuck with the bill for his inexperience. Last, I had a tune up done a month ago. They changed the filter only to claim that a month later it would need to be changed again. Depew stated I got a discount from $175 per hour to $141 for 30 min labor. They don't stand behind their work! I don't recommend them at all. read more

Absolutely rude crooks of a company. I'm actually appalled at the remarks I got over the phone when trying to resolve an issue after they couldn't figure out how to split the bill between me and another tenant on the property. When my credit card got charged for their bill they said try and get the money from the tenant. Are you kidding me? Refund my money for your secretary mistake. The bank ended up taking care of this issue for me. Which leads into my next complaint as if I already didn't dislike them enough. They call wanting a credit card on file to deliver since they are coming for the other tenant. Fine. I call and I'm informed that I have to pay $250 TODAY up front or they are picking up the tanks. (Meanwhile I don't have a balance with them.)When I told them no I'm not paying for a service that hasn't been preformed or propane not yet in my tanks. They told me that's to bad. I eventually offered her 100$ on a card upfront and told her I'd wait for the drive to show and provide him with a check for the balance (meanwhile I'm supposed to get 14 days to pay) I asked to speak to the "boss" who she put me on hold to discuss this matter multiple times and he wouldn't get on the phone with me even though I could hear him in the background. I recorded all my conversation as I knew they would try to pull one over on me. I wish them luck trying to take the tanks from this property without a phone call from the owner of this appalling company with an apology. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY. read more

They kept almost $300 of mine. Used Depew propane at an apt I rented. I paid all of my bills early for a year. I made several calls in the month before I moved out to make sure they stopped delivery and then several more calls to ask how to read the gauges and calculate remaining propane value. On every one of these calls they left out an important fact. Two or three days after I moved their techs came and removed the two almost full tanks, even commented to the neighbors that I should have uses more propane because the tanks were heavy and hard to lift. Only when I was trying to track down who owed me for the remaining propane did they say they don't reimburse for unused propane. I was told (when I called again) that it was unusual for them to come and take tanks on an account that never had a payment problem and that she was unsure who gave the order to do so but that I was out of luck, no refunds on unused propane. A close look at fine print on the contract said that I would be notified before the tanks were removed..... I wasn't. Now they get to install these (almost) full tanks at another house and charge for installation and propane that was already paid for. Double dipping at its best. Thieves and dishonest. I own my new place and it's only 2 miles away from the apt. Guess who I won't be using, that's right... Depew Energy. In the end they lose. My new place uses propane and oil. I'm going to use Bottini. They provide excellent service and great prices...they give a lot of discounts for different reasons. Sometimes a discount is applied because your neighborhood has a few accounts with them. I'm sure you can find a category you fit into. read more

I recently purchased a house that Depew had previously been contracted to service the oil burner and provide oil deliveries. They only cleaned about 1/4 of the oil burner because getting into it to clean it was "too difficult." Additionally, they didn't put the burner back together correctly, causing it to spew soot and all kinds of crap into our laundry room. It took several phone calls and a helluva run around to have them come back and "clean" the room. And by "clean" I mean they wiped everything down with wet towels. This hardly cleaned anything and instead made a huge mess that we are now responsible for cleaning up. These guys are a joke. Avoid them like the plague. read more
