"Woman with Mirror" (Botero, 1990)
Tracey A.

Someone somewhere had mentioned an "aquarium bar" at the Grand Wailea and made it sound worth seeing. I traipsed all over the property without spotting it and finally resorted to seeing it in an online photo. But all was not lost because, in the process of looking for the aquarium bar, I found something I think I liked far better: Botero Lounge. We all know the art of Fernando Botero (well, two of those with me did not). Botero's art features lovingly rendered obese people whose shapes are all curves. I've seen his work before, in person and on greeting cards, but never before have I seen it like this. What a setting! In an open-air space in the vastness that comprises the Grand Wailea the Botero Lounge sits, filled with gorgeous oversized black sculptures of his rounded humans. If you' think you don't like the works of Botero (I was a fence-sitter) this place is likely to influence a quick change of opinion. The sculptures are so smooth and enchanting that it was difficult to look, not touch. Clad in a swimsuit and flip-flops I did nothing more at Botero Lounge than walk from one amazing sculpture to another. I did not stop for a cocktail but made a date in my head to return. This place is gorgeous, the sculptures enchanting. Stumbling upon Botero Lounge was actually one of my favorite Maui experiences to date.

Chocolate cake

Came here for our last night at the resort because we wanted something super casual and laid back. It's a great place to just sit and people watch. The chairs are also lounge chairs so it's nice and comfy and don't have to be in your best outfit to eat here lol. Even though it's casual, the food was delicious. I got the spicy crispy sandwich and my bf got the smash burger with fries. I wouldn't recommend the fries, as they were bland and did not stand out. But the sandwiches were great and filling! We also got the zero proof drinks which were really refreshing! However, the most important part of this review is how delicious the 17 layer chocolate cake was (and yes I counted 17 layers)!!! It was so decadent and creamy and flavorful. I just wish it came with more fruit to off set all that chocolate. I still am thinking about it and can't wait to be back to eat it. The server was great and attentive to our needs. Ps- they give you almonds and pretzels to snack on which was a fun surprise

Awesome location right in the middle of the atrium of the resort. Has a cool vibe to it... but that's pretty much the end of the positives. The drinks were overpriced which i guess is acceptable given the setting but they were pretty terrible which is not acceptable. I've only sent a drink back maybe 5 times in my entire life and one of them was at Botero. The random food items were pretty mediocre as to be expected. Honestly you can just sit in the area if you want to listen to the live music and eat your own food....

Great service with a live band. Very serene. This is in the middle of the grand Wailea and there is limited seating so try and go early. There's no reservations. Sushi was fresh. The Wagyu burger is a must try.

Botero bar. Such a fantastic setting. Good service but under delivers.

First off: Expectations are high and they should be high. This place does not deliver on expectations. Let me explain. Service is good. Fast and friendly waitress and bar tenders. This is the good piece. Live music is really good BUT it ends way too early. Then, the music selection is meant to get you to sleep or go somewhere else. Does not create the right atmosphere. Drinks are just average. My old fashioned was half the size of other places and did not taste right. Our gin and tonic, same. No companion snacks unless you ask (you should not need to). The architecture, open ceiling with Maui stars, Botero sculptures and resort class + brand demand a significant upgrade on the rest of the experience. Oh, and ... Botero team, please refrain from serving club soda and water on plastic cups. This is not a lobby bar of a 3 star hotel. Do yourself a favor and walk to the 4 seasons or Fairmont so you see how other high end hotels deliver on high expectations.

Greek salad was good, place is available and chill. Service is nice. The music is not very loud.

This open-air bar is right in the middle of the main lobby of the Grand Wailea. Casual, yet elevated. They have some funky food options that do not disappoint! Love the chill vibes!

We really enjoyed our meal here. The staff was friendly and engaging. The atmosphere is romantic and there is a beautiful view of the Pacific. The drinks were a little on the pricey side, but very well executed. They have a massive spirit selection as well. We had a few different sushi offerings and capped our meal off with the A5 wagyu. It was served sushi style. It was seared and served on rice with a delicious drizzle of sauce.

Love this spot for sushi and drinks. We've been lucky enough to have Nadine as our server three years in a row. She is awesome. Makes great recommendations and has a wonderfully friendly and laid back demeanor. Love the beautiful atmosphere of the Grand Wailea as always. Beautiful water features, open air, and the live music is an absolute bonus as well. They seem to always have great talent here.

Their version of a mai tai.

The service here was great. They were on top of everything as far as speed, attention to detail for allergies and friendliness. We enjoyed the music and being able to dine under the stars. Food was ok, not great. Drinks were very good. We got two sushi rolls, edamame, dessert and two drinks. My biggest complaint was how much it cost for the quality of food. I understand that resort costs are higher but typically you're getting food that matches that range. I was slightly disappointed that we spent well over 120 dollars for very meh food and not a ton of it.

It has amazing ambiance and is very comfortable. Live music is not the greatest. Service is ok. Food is good. It's a fun place to meet up with friends and have a drink.

I love this place! The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. Live music was phenomenal. The cherry on top to a nice date night. I loved their sushi, it was very fresh. Great selection on wine, they even had one of my favorite reds (Duckhorn). If i were to go back, I would get the crunchy spicy tuna roll over and over again. Toro was good but I wouldn't get this one again just because I don't think the price matched the taste. This is the perfect date night to the end of a full day in the sun :)

We shared dishes that featured Truffle Fries, Prime Rib Steak bites, Pipikaula Jerky, a Kampachi Filet and Fettuccine Alfredo. Cocktails were good, but nothing too special. Food was colorful and tasty, it came out quickly seeing that the resort wasn't jam packed like we've seen it before. Never thought I'd mention this but prices are reasonable considering its pricy exclusive Wailea. The beautiful Andaz Wailea Resort (a Hyatt collection) is perched 4 stories above sea level with tiered pools before ending on Wailea's Polo Beach and boardwalk. We had an opportunity to view their beachside suites a month back at a special event and are luxurious and spacious. We did get a peek indoors as we walked through. The space was dimly lit, well-decorated with trendy patterns and furniture, and overall, inviting. I ordered the Pandan Killer Milk punch, which is 8yr aged rum, Planteray Cut & dry rum, pandan liquer, clarified coconut, pineapple, vanilla, lime, and nutmeg. I was truly blown away! It's simple presentation was deceitful in the best way possible. All flavors were beautifully captured and left nothing else to be desired. The Pina Colada on the other hand....my friend felt extremely underwhelmed. The other two cocktails we had in the party were the Ultra Violet Seventy Five, which was very gin-forward and the Snoop PPOG, both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Aside from the Pina Colada, we had a great first experience at Tikehau Lounge! Would visit again and certainly recommend!

After 7pm it was pretty quiet but beware they will poop randomly so much sure you don't get any on you! The drinks omg we were addicted to the Bird of Prey! Over a week we had over 30 of those . Definitely recommend that drink if you like something fruity and chill! The food was amazing! Like everything was soooooo good! My favorite was the Japanese A5 Wagyu! Definitely get that if you don't mind splurging a bit! One of the best steaks I've had in my life! The prawns skewer were huge (beware it has all its body parts if that grosses you out) and they were cooked to perfection and the flavor was great! The salmon hand rolls were another level of salmon! Yummmm is all I gotta say! P.S. the hotel wailea burger is really good as well and that patty is thick! It has an interesting flavor cause it's dry aged so if you are not a fan of that then don't get that as it's a flavor! But def worth it and filling! The staff were great and helpful in suggesting items and they are quick! Do order the drinks in advance if the place is packed and everyone goes ham on those drinks! Will definitely be back next time we visit!

We came after a big storm, and none of the water activities were available due to County brown water advisory. The rest of the resort fee activities were a nice add-on (e.g. smores at sunset, ukulele lessons, bingo, photography session). Cocktails were not great. Stick to the beer and wine. Breakfast buffet was good enough, but inconsistent and nothing exciting. Veggie fried rice was really good the first day, but lacked flavor the next day. Longans were a nice touch, but wasn't available every day (and no other specialty fruit replacement out of the ordinary selection). The Tuna Crunch had garlic chips, chili crunch, and ponzu sauce poured over table side. The Sunomono looked simple with a stack of cucumbers but it also had the most addictive sauce of Garlic Tamari, Chili Crunch and Micro Cilantro. The Kimchi Dip was delicious but I'm not a huge fan of Yorkshire Puddings and would rather had crostini's or bread for dipping.
