He continued to lie about the work he did and claimed he "knocked off $100" which is BS because I paid $50 and there's NO WAY the work he claimed to have done would be worth $150. Granted, I'm aware the initial damage was not his fault, not mine either (it was a freak accident). But he felt the need to lie and take my money for doing practically nothing. Look at the photos and try to tell me he cleaned it even a little bit... He is a bad businessman and his customer service skills suck. Go elsewhere for computer repair. My HP laptop, on which I depend utterly, every day, for my firm*, suddenly developed all kinds of failure modes (first it would drop the WiFi; then it couldn't find the connections that were there; then it wouldn't boot at all) -- but they were intermittent (the very toughest to trace and fix). Grant, the genius-in-residence at this Harvard Square shop, had me fully operational, with a new WiFi board, and doubled the memory I used to have (now a full terabyte, yay), but w/ my old drive contents cloned (so the replacement would be seamless), all in less than 48 hours, and for less than $300 (before tax). I cannot understand critical reviews. He has always been friendly, incredibly responsive (same day--"bring it in"), and efficient. He is also mindful of costs/time and does not do work that is not necessary. For example, when my computer did not turn on, I called Grant and he told me about a 30 second fix that worked without my having to bring the laptop in. It is a great source of comfort to know that Grant is available to deal with the inevitable laptop problems in a manner that is friendly, timely and cost-effective. I recommend him enthusiastically.

Explained who I was, some of the computer security issues I was dealing with (ARP cache POISON man-in-the-middle Trojan on a previous computer; remotely wiped flash drive most recently) when I took my laptop in to be cleaned of malware that locked me out of it. Got it back and they had installed a 'cleaning' program on it without asking or telling me. I had to ask THREE TIMES (in the course of my several calls and visits while my computer was being worked on) if they would install a new hard drive and system on the machine, and how much that would be, thinking I'd just archive this drive, and Sam just kept saying, "You don't really need it." Umm - I'll be the judge of that. YOU just tell me if you want my business.
