I really wanted to give this experience a higher rating, however the service really disappointed me. The service was below average for a fine dinning restaurant, therefore I would not recommend this venue if you're trying to impress someone. My table was dirty, and the server never cleaned the residue. He only came to do quality checks and clear the plates. The residue bothered me so much, I eventually started cleaning the table myself! Food wise, I liked it! Their food had good flavours and portions! I also really liked the atmosphere! You'd enter the hotel with someone playing the lovely piano. This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Toronto- Shangri La hotel. It offers both indoor and patio dinning in the summer months. I would recommend getting a table in their patio on the less humid days. Tips: If you can't find an availability on OpenTable, try calling in for a table!

Haven't had such top notch food in a long time and "bosk" has always been my favourite restaurant for brunch/lunch go-to in Toronto. The restaurant is inside the Shangri-La hotel on University/Richmond in between the financial & entertainment districts. We were seated outdoors because the weather was quite nice, but it took about 10-15 minutes for the staff to assist us with water and the correct menu (maybe they were busy with guests during indoors they forgot about us), but the food made up for it. We tried their 4 course tasting menu and champagne pairing was recommended, but the food was so tasty already! Their tasting menu showcased Appetizer: Misto Di Zucchine (lightly battered zucchini and summer squash), Entrée: was a Linguine with East Coast Clams. Main: was the Bistecca (the BEST!) Beverly Creek Prime Dry-Aged Ribeye with potato foam. Ended on a SWEET note with a special "Veuve Clicquot" cheesecake. FYI. THIS TASTING MENU ENDS ON August 31, 2024 so if you like to pair champagne with your food, then definitely give this a try! We loved the food a lot even without needing to pair with the champagne and totally worth the price!

We came here for dinner on the patio at the Shangri La. The location of the restaurant is on the ground floor of the hotel. Overall, the interior is superb, and the decor and ambiance inside are top notch. There is live music in the lobby, and the patio was not crowded at all when I went on a Wednesday evening. Outside, you have the option of sitting on the couches or at a table. Overall the food was OK. We had the beef tartare (served with waffle chips that kept breaking - would be better served with crostini), tuna poke bowl, gnocchi (too few gnocchi pieces, too much salt), phyllo pastry wrapped cheesecake (phyllo was nice but the cheesecake itself was too cheesy), a bottle of Chianti, and coffees. The service was attentive and friendly, and I'd come back for drinks or the venue/location but probably not for the food.

Had lunch on the patio at the Shangri La hotel yesterday. There's a small patio area that is know as the Lobby Lounge on OpenTable. There's a brunch, drinks, and All Day Dining menu. No request for covid contact info which was odd. Service was friendly. Servers using gloves and masks. We had cocktails, lunch and dessert. Nice tea set but English breakfast teabag was unimpressive. Tuna tacos appetizer was standard. I enjoyed the spring Agnolotti pasta. Delicate agnolotti pasta with paired with fresh spring peas, spinach and bay shrimp was delicious. Other diners loved the chicken sandwich with egg over easy but rainbow trout not so much. My Treason cocktail was refreshing. Lemon meringue tart was wonderful but overly sweet. Overall upscale patio with great cocktails and small bite perfect for a small get together with friends in this area.

Atmosphere & Service: A friend and I decided to try out the brunch menu one Saturday afternoon. Mind you, the province wasn't on 'lockdown' due to the COVID-19 outbreak yet. On a brighter note, the restaurant was entirely empty besides the one couple and business group seated on the other side. The decoration at Bosk was very chic and modern. A live guitarist was playing during our meal. Surprisingly, we did not hear the pianist playing outside at the main atrium space. Upon entering we were immediately greeted with a smile. Waiters and waitresses were extremely attentive and friendly. Food & Taste: We opted for the one entree and buffet access service. I got the traditional smoked salmon eggs benny, my friend the chicken waffles. To our surprise, the buffet had two tables filled with mini pastries, fruits, cold cuts, and even crab legs!! I really enjoyed the mini pastries, they were so fluffy and sweet. Although, I do think the side buffet dishes may have outshined the main entree... Price: For the price ticket of $65, the entrees weren't over the top or mind-blowing. I would say the quality of service and consistency the food served is as expected. Nothing more, nothing less.

Had the chance to finally try Bosk, we came for their winterlicious menu and it did not disappoint! They got booked up quite fast so i ended up booking the day of going and got lucky since many people cancellled last minute due to the snow storm. They are located on the first level of Shangri-La hotel, and easy to find. For appetizers we got the salmon terrine and the pear & beet salad. For mains we both got the Rainbow trout, and for dessert we both got the yuzu & lemon posset! Everything was made to the very last detail. The trout was so delicious, the skin was super crispy but the insides were soft and delicate. In the dessert alone you could see and taste the different flavours blend so well together in each bite. I was tempted to ask for another serving of the yuzu posset. Overall i loved everything that we ordered, even the bread we had to get refills because the caramel butter was so good! For our dessert we ordered coffee as well, and it came in a french press. We shared a jug between two people and each got around 3 cups. Also, we sat near the kitchen door so we could see all the food that came out. They were serving afternoon tea sets in the lobby and it looked amazing definitely want to tey that out next time! 10/10 recommend you come and visit Bosk if you are in the area.

Bosk is located on the ground floor of the Shangri-La Hotel on the west side of University Avenue between Richmond and Adelaide. I had organized a get together for a dinner reservation just next door at Momofuku and I was a bit early so I decided to have a drink at the closest bar I could find which was Bosk inside the Shangri-La. I ended up meeting 2 friends before the dinner. The bar had a few seats free so it was a meeting place for anybody that was early for the dinner. I just wanted to get a quick drink before heading next door and while the place was quite busy when we first arrived it seemed to dwindle off a bit in a short span of only about 20 minutes. The décor and ambiance of Bosk and the hotel lobby is quite modern, bold and stylish. We had to wait a few minutes before being able to order as I said the place was quite busy. The attire at this place seemed to be almost all business. I think I was the only male not in a suit at this place during the small window we were there. All in all the place has a nice modern feel to it and for a quick drink it's a nice place to have one.

You know when you eat at a hotel for convenience and the food is so bland and average? That's just what I got at Bosk. I made a reservation for Saturday morning, it wasn't busy and I was greeted by a smiling hostess. Sat down at a cute table by the window, the service was exceptional - coffee, water, and straight to it. My friend and I ordered the eggs benny and the waffle. Wow... you can tell by the pictures. sure enough, 15-20 minutes later which I didn't find long our food showed up. Very average plating and the taste was SO average. I've had better tasting benny's at diners. You can tell the quality of the ingredients are great however there was no taste, it was actually really sad. The waffle was not bad but again nothing special. For $55.00 not Including tip I was pretty unsatisfied. I would not come back here again. Keep Eating, Angela

This is a on their almond croissant only. Bosk is located inside the Shangri-La Hotel. I was too tired from the night before to properly get ready to have breakfast downstairs so I asked if I can get a pastry for take out. They weren't sure since I'm assuming not many people ask to get a container to go, but they were accommodating. I took my almond croissant and brought it upstairs to my room with coffee. I'm not sure if I was really hungry, but that croissant was damn good.

Came for the $100 brunch...waited an hour to just get tea. Then a full hour and 20 min to get our food. 4 us of and two types of each food...so I guess we all don't get to try everything? As for taste, it was all "meh". Bread was stale, shrimp was extraordinarily "fishy". Other than the decor, this is absolute trash. Four seasons makes this place seem like McDonald's.

Lisa C.

I've been here twice and each time the food is absolutely excellent. I really recommend their salmon - it's so flavourful! The atmosphere is really nice because it's located within the Shangri-La Hotel. When it gets chillier at night, they have heat lamps outside on the patio which is really great. My only drawback was the service my second time around. While it was summerlicious at the time, my party asked for the normal menu instead and it took about 20 minutes to figure out where to find us a normal menu. Still, I understand the request must have been a little out of the ordinary at the time. Overall great place!

Swordfish

If you pass up this place, you'll regret it. Came here for a work lunch on a whim with 5 others for a work celebration and couldn't of made a better choice. Walking in, the decor and servers and welcoming and seated us near a window with gusto. SWORDFISH "NIÇOISE" - juicy bits of swordfish with a chickpea, olive blend on the side was exactly what I needed to refuel from lunch. It is filling, but still light and doesn't leave you too full. Every bite was worth to savour for this dish. The restaurant has large ground to ceiling window walls, but even for a rainy day, it still managed to look elegant, like something out of an old film. I would love to come here during dinner not only for their menu, but just to see how beautiful it can be. Just be ready with your phone once you step into the boujee Bosk.

I knew from previous visits that the food and service were exceptional, but this week reinforced why this has become one of my go-to spots whenever I'm in the city. Max and Trevor behind the bar made the experience seamless from night one. Not only did they remember my name, they recalled my exact order and dietary needs every evening without hesitation. Traveling for work while maintaining a low sodium, heart healthy diet can be challenging, so finding consistency matters. I did not want to chance food remorse or uncertainty with ingredients, and they made sure my burrata and salmon were prepared perfectly each night. By night five, I was basically in a legally recognized relationship with burrata, salmon...and the guys. Sofia, who had provided exceptional service to us on a previous visit months ago, was there as well. I made a point to remind her how memorable and appreciated her hospitality had been, and it was great to see the same professionalism and warmth continue throughout the restaurant team. Five straight nights at the same restaurant says a lot on its own. Consistent food, genuinely attentive staff, and an atmosphere that makes you want to come back. I came here with my best friend for a birthday dinner, and I could immediately see why this place has lasted for decades. It's tucked inside an old house on Elm Street, and the whole restaurant has that warm, family-run charm that makes you feel like people have been coming here for years and bringing more people back with them. The tables are definitely close together, so it's a little tight when the restaurant gets busy, but honestly that also adds to the lively energy because there was a steady flow of people coming in all night. Food-wise, there were a few dishes that really stood out. The carpaccio is such a good order, very thinly sliced raw beef, simple and classic, and honestly one of the most reasonably priced versions I've seen. My personal favorite was the prosciutto & melon. It's such a simple dish, but when it's done well, it really hits, and this one did. The real star for me though was the Cozze Marinara. The mussels were plump, tender, and clean, with no sandy bits, and the garlicky tomato sauce was so good that I ended up scooping it up with bread until the plate was basically spotless. We also tried the Vitello Marsala with mushrooms and Penne Arrabbiata, which felt very classic and comforting. If you like traditional Italian flavors, this is the kind of dish that will make you happy. That said, I personally wouldn't recommend mixing the meat and pasta together too much, I think they shine better on their own. Later we also ordered the garlic grilled seafood fettuccine because we were enjoying ourselves so much, and that one was much lighter in flavor. Nice enough, but probably not the best choice if you like richer or bolder pasta dishes. By the end we were completely full and had to leave a few strands of fettuccine behind, which almost never happens for me. Overall, Donatello feels like the kind of neighborhood Italian restaurant people return to for comfort, generous portions, and that warm family run atmosphere. It may not be the most spacious or modern place, but it has heart, and some dishes were genuinely memorable.

There is an upstairs balcony seating but I've never sat there. During warm weather, there is plenty of roadside outdoor seating too. This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

It's a dining experience you don't see every day in Toronto. Even the washrooms are memorable, tucked away in the basement in what used to be old jail cells, which adds to the charm and gives the whole place a bit of personality. We went for an early Sunday dinner before a concert at Massey Hall. The restaurant got pretty busy as the evening went on, but it never felt chaotic. The atmosphere is lovely and lively, a great choice for a special night out or a pre-show meal. We started with Calamari alla Griglia with mixed greens, capers, onions, and fresh tomatoes. It was a fresh, bright appetizer with good balance. For mains, my date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare with clams, mussels, calamari, scallop, and tiger shrimp in a tomato sauce. The menu described it as mildly spicy, but it definitely had a noticeable kick. Still, the flavours were really good. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato with braised beef, butter, sage, and parmigiano. It was tasty and comforting, though portion-wise I could have used a few more ravioli. I was still a bit hungry after and honestly double the size would have been perfect for me. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu with espresso-soaked savoiardi, mascarpone, and cocoa. I had an amaro while my date finished with zambuca. A sweet and satisfying way to wrap up the meal. The service was friendly, though drinks came out a bit slower than expected. Terroni's food is tasty, the setting is gorgeous, and it's easy to see why locals keep coming back. Some of the flavour combinations were just off (the skewer with fruit, cheese and something else) - like they paired the wrong cheese with the fruit. The meal itself was a seat down meal (family style) which did take over two hours to complete for the amount of guests that were present (over 200 ppl). My favorite dish was the tomato and mozza salad. My most disappointed dish was the ragu pasta. Though containing a good amount of meat it was not saucy at all. The pizza was the brocolini was good as well. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars is strictly for the lack of elevator and the food quality vs the price. For what you are paying, there is so much higher quality food in the city and I honestly think you can get better bang for buck elsewhere.
