Excellent choice for fine intimate dining in northwoods. i know that sounds crazy but sometimes you have to leave the quarters and game rooms behind for kids and enjoy. small dining room with outdoor also. we eat in. A lovely Italian diner in eagle river! The waitress was so nice and friendly. Started off with bread for the table then I got the gnocchi with chicken and cream sauce (you can also get it with Gorgonzola sauce) and every meal came with a side of steamed veggies. Pretty pricey menu also the food takes a while. There was only 3 tables dining in and we were there for 2 hours. On the table they had a little note (pictured here) that reads that they don't have a microwave or deep fryer and food takes awhile to make and they want guests to enjoy their dining experience so if you plan on coming, just know that you'll be there for awhile. read more

We enjoyed a delicious relaxing dinner at this lovely off the beaten track restaurant. Like most places up here, they are short staffed which affected the speed of the service but we weren't in a rush and we had a great time. My husband and I have been coming here since it went from being a food truck to a brick and mortar restaurant. Family owned and some Italian dishes you won't find on other menus up here. We stopped on our way to Chicago from the Lake of the Clouds in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We were tired and famished. We were totally welcomed by Abby our waitress. She brought us our wine and bread which were both excellent. We had the Vegetable Lasagna which was the best I have had ever.... My bride had a speciality pizza which was totally devoured by the both of us and we can say without a doubt this was was one of the best experiences we have had in an Italian Restaurant in years!!! This was our fourth time here. The food is very good, nice atmosphere. The carbonara is outstanding. Spicy & large portions. They alert you to the slow service & it is slow so be warned. That said, it's one thing to wait for the food to be prepared. It's another to wait 15 to 20 minutes to be asked what you want to drink. That's been the pattern every time. If they could improve the front end service it would take the rating to 5 stars. read more

My boyfriend and I found this place on Yelp and we were excited to check it out. Is family owned, which we liked and the owners actually know about wine. We decided to do a wine flight and got a couple of appetizers. We really enjoyed a few of the wines there and the bruschetta. The chickpeas were yummy and plentiful. We went there for lunch. They had one other table of customers (one), seated outside. There were three of us. It took us two full hours to get our food. All I ordered was an Italian sub (the bread was really good). One person I was with asked for a side order of mushrooms. They came out so late we thought the waiter was joking and we all laughed. It really was a joke, how long everything took. If you have a job to go back to, do not go here for lunch! Finally we have an area Italian restaurant again. Walking inside, the nondescript exterior gives way to a quaint, beautifully-styled space that genuinely could be found in Italy. The menu had many classic Italian dishes, making the choice difficult! The wine list is small but looks well thought out. My wife andI shared a nice Italian red. I was in the mood for something different, and got a pasta with mixed seafood and it was very nicely done. My wife also liked her pasta with meatballs. We've given this restaurant three chances, but won't be returning. They have a chef who obviously can prepare great food, once it finally arrives. Unfortunately, the front of house management is so poorly organized the dining experience is just not worth it. We've gone during the week when there has not been a rush, usually 1 or 2 other tables occupied. Two servers aren't able to cope with the small bar and the dining area and tell guests coming in there will be a 15-20 minute wait to be seated that usually ends up being 30 or more minutes. This last visit two waiting couples got fed up and left. A 20 minute wait for a bread basket, another 15 for a salad, another 45 for your entree once you finally are seated. There really is no excuse when there are 3 employees in the kitchen and 2 servers for 2 or 3 tables serving no more than 8 guests. Does this place survive on another source of cash? read more

The atmosphere is incredible, food is amazing and service is phenomenal!! We are so thrilled to have such a wonderful Italian restaurant in Eagle River WI. All of the dishes are home-made and delicious! Of course, the wine selection is great as well and will pair well with any hand crafted dinner. A few of my favorites are the eggplant and bruschetta appetizer, wood oven pizza, lasagna and many other pasta dishes. Don't forget the chocolate molten lava cake for dessert!! read more

Only 8 diners on a Fri. Night. Rather telling. Had nothing to do with covid as all the places north from 70 north on 45 to Land o lakes had full parking lots, except Twilight. Came across this place on Yelp looking for something a little more on the classy/fancy side for a special date night. There was great music going on in the patio and even though we sat inside, the music could be heard which was great because we didn't want to miss out on that. Service was phenomenal! Very attentive and friendly staff with a great wine selection and the food was fabulous. Felt like we were in a little Italian bistro, not in the North of Wisconsin. It's very hard to find a vegan and gluten free-friendly restaurant in the a Northwoods and Bortolotti's did not disappoint. The GF vegans in our group enjoyed avocado crisps, vegan chili and vegan nachos. The pork cutlet was delicious as was the baked rigatoni and the stuffed shells. The absolute worst experience ever. Had a reservation for 4 people at 5:30pm. Arrived early and asked to sit at the bar for a drink.....NO, were told to go to our table. Three of the four drinks we ordered at the table were unavailable. Tried to order an appetizer but were told they were out of the one we wanted. Ordered some other appetizer which took 40 minutes to get. Next we ordered dinner. Asked for the shells stuffed with ricotta and sausage but were told they were out of sausage. Now remember, they opened at 4pm and we were there at 5:30. There was only one other table with 2 people eating in the entire place. Ordered dinner and 1 1/2 hours later we finally asked if we could at least get our salads to which the waiter replied "you want them now before dinner." In between we were never asked if we wanted another drink and were never refilled with water. Finally at 8:30pm we asked where our dinner was and were told it would be another 20 minutes or more. At this point we asked for our check and we're told OK. No apology, nothing. We were handed a bill for $61.00 for two appetizers and drinks and the appetizers were awful. This was without a doubt the worse dining experience we have ever had. Cannot believe a restaurant would treat customers the way we were treated. Will NEVER go back. read more
