The owners are transplants from the Chicago area and some of the decor shows their roots (Chicago Cubs stuff, I am a White Sox fan :)). The place is very relaxing and laid back with a mixture of locals and out of towners clientele. A great place to meet people while enjoying a glass of wine or a beer. I was mainly looking for an apple orchard but I won't turn down a winery/cidery/meadery option as well. This place isn't very big but they really pack in a lot of product in such a small footprint. Cheese, apples, honey, soap, syrup, etc. A great place to do some holiday shopping for the foodie in your family. Daily tastings are offered for only $6 for 5 samples and you pick from grape wine, fruit wine, cider and mead all produced onsite. We enjoyed all of the samplings we tried and ended up buying a few bottles of wine and mead to take back home with us. Prices are very reasonable and comparable, especially with their products being made with local, fresh ingredients. But back to the main reason why I had come to this place, apples. I was on the lookout for one of my favorite heirloom apples (Jonathans) while in Wisconsin and with Hammen's offering 250 varieties of apple varieties, I was sure to have luck on finding them. And I did! It was fun to walk the aisles of fresh apples and see what other unique varieties teased my interest. And at an affordable price point (I think it was only a couple dollars per pound), it was really easy to be adventurous and try out a few new to me types. I'm dropping a pin on the map - this place will definitely be a fresh apple pickup destination for me and the family seasonally. Well worth the road trip!
