Well the soup seemed fine, but what the heck kind of cafe doesn't have internet? I am here to have a late lunch and attend my dumb Zoom meeting. What the heck? A cafe with no internet? And it is right on my commute, but I won't be back.

We stopped here on our first morning visiting Poulsbo. My wife had their egg and ham breakfast sandwich on a biscuit and she said it was the best egg sandwich she has eaten . I tried the brisket Reuben which was also very good. The bakery items looked delicious

I absolutely love Borrowed Kitchen Bakery!!! Every time that I visit my family, this my favorite stop!! Borrowed Kitchen Bakery is a classic small batch bakery in which every item does not disappoint (I have practically tried everything on the menu)! My favorites have to be the chocolate cake, lemon blueberry danish, and apple fritter. The chocolate cake is a three layer cake with a chocolate ganache frosting. This is definitely something to share between two people or have extras for tomorrow. The lemon blueberry danishes generally are out by 8/8:15 ish and served warm from the oven. They are so fresh and I love the addition of fresh zest on top. If you generally prefer a donut as opposed to a danish, Borrowed Kitchen Bakery makes a delicious baked apple fritter! They split into thirds then bake it so that the fritter opens in the open with a cinnamon apple center. You have to try it!

I have lived in Kitsap County for 23 years and have never been here. My friend took me here after our hike for a pastry. Our visit ended up not only purchasing baked goods but staying for lunch. Wow! The citizens of Kingston have wonderful gem in their community! This bakery features breads, amazing pastries and baked goods, a breakfast/lunch menu and coffees. I had the veg sandwich on bread made by the bakery. It was delicious. By the stream of customers, this is a popular spot. There are tables to dine on, self busing. The staff are friendly and helpful.

This place is so cute and the bakery items are delicious! I got the orange cinnamon roll and a scone and they were both so good. I was surprised to see that they have sandwiches and an entire lunch menu so I'm excited to go back and try some of those items. And it has a door connecting to the bookstore nextdoor! Definitely recommend this place!

These folks are so great. We search out sourdough breads and they have so many choices, baked fresh every day, warm and crusty. Plus, their pastries and sandwiches are so good! I love their polenta orange cake with a cup of hot tea on a rainy day. Can't beat sitting at a window table, listening to the hubbub of the customers, reading my book from Saltwater Books right next door that shares the building, watching the winter rain outside. Borrowed Kitchen is a great bakery, lunch spot, hang spot! Oh and they have a huge freezer case of ready to go take-n-bake hand prepared meals too! Really great offerings (ranch n bacon Mac n cheese, root veggies n pork, Cuban pulled pork, chicken Alfredo, a whole Turkey dinner.... (Have to check out what they offer as it varies seasonally). Perfect for those I don't want to cook nights. We come here a lot!

Good pastries, nice staff, and free roll for kids!…read more Our experience was great. They gave coupons the first two times we went. One for a free pastry next visit and after we used that they gave a coupon for a free bread loaf the next visit. The pastries are really high quality and creative, like the cottage coins(?) and the rye chocolate chip cookie.

I'm not sure if it's because something changed on the side of the bakery (maybe recipe or personnel changes?) or on my side, having tried more bakeries around the area. On our last visit we bought two loaves of bread to accompany a butter tasting. Both loaves I found to be not nearly as high quality as I remember previously. Pane Bello ($9) - The crust basically doesn't exist in this bread. It's soft and leathery and doesn't give that satisfying crispness of a well baked bread. The interior, while having good crumb structure, is particularly dry and almost crumbly. The taste is mild, perfect for pairing with higher end butters. (3/5) Parmesan Black Pepper Sourdough ($9) - This batard has similar texture as compared to the Pane Bello. It has the addition of plenty of black pepper baked inside, spaced out rather evenly, allowing a peppery bite every time. There's salty and fatty parmesan baked on top, giving a caramelized salty umami. It definitely has more flavor than the Pane Bello, but suffers from the same textural issues. (3/5) We purchased both loaves at 10AM on a Sunday morning and they were consumed within 2.5 hours, so I don't think it's an issue with storage. I ate a bit of their regular foccacia at a work event too. It has a good crispy exterior and is salted well on the top. Unfortunately the interior isn't the best, having a really dense, chewy crumb. I'm honestly not sure what happened. I really loved The Cottage when I first moved here 1.5 years ago. Now? I have a number of bakeries I'd choose over here in a heartbeat.

There is no place to sit inside but there are sidewalk benches or you can walk as you snack. I love that you can look at all the pastries from the side walk. They not only entice you to get a pastry or three but you can plan out what you want while waiting in line. When you order, if I remember correctly, you only get your items in a box if you order more than six items. If you order less they are placed into a waxed bag. I ordered the sour cream donut, Viking cup, and a butterhorn with almonds. I loved them all! They all tasted so fresh, had a great texture, and was absolutely yummy. The Viking cup had the perfect balance of frosting to bun.

There was a line out the door even 30 minutes before closing, but it went pretty fast and the shelves were also well stocked with pastries; not bare like I expected them to be coming so soon before closing. The person behind the counter explained that the Viking cups were all 20% off as the batch that day came out with irregular shapes. Taste wise it wasn't bad, tastes like a regular cinnamon roll but with more of that homemade touch you get with good quality ingredients and handmade cream cheese frosting (the contrast from store bought to homemade is big when it comes to cream cheese). The frosting had good texture and surprisingly I liked it better than the actual roll, especially since I'm known to always remove cream cheese icing. I think the roll would have been better if it had been served warm. Overall it was not bad, a little sweeter than I would have preferred, but I'm also not a huge cinnamon roll or cream cheese fan because of how sweet they always are in general, so that could just be a personal preference. Want to try the pecan roll or any of the cookies next time I visit, those sounded promising as well. Prices here are also pretty decent considering how touristy this place is, and coming from Seattle, anything under $5 is a relief. Definitely will become a place I hit every time I'm in Poulsbo!
