We just walked into this shop a few days ago for the first time and are looking forward to this shop being a regular treat for us. The window lettering says, "Crazy for Confectionary", but, once a customer walks in the shop, they immediately see they offer so much more! It's a gem in Bremerton and worth a drive or an excuse to check out Quincy Square a block away or stop in before or after catching the ferry.

The quality is there- no doubt about it. You can tell the pastry is spot on. I would probably rate it a 4.75 total but rounded up. The egg in the egg croissant was over done and that made it not as enjoyable. Ham and cheese croissant was good. The raspberry danish pastry was the star of the show. Also enjoyed the currant scone with pearl sugar. Would like a few more drink options.

To be completely honest, I was so disappointed in Baking Wahines in Bremerton since 3 of the 4…read moreitems I purchased seemed like they were 2-3 days old. Both the Long John and Puffer were super old and stale, maybe 1 to 2 days old. Had to toss both of them after one bite. I was told the Gau was made on Tuesday night, which makes it 3 days old now. I even tried putting the items in the microwave (per the owner's advice) for 15 seconds and it still didn't taste good. I've honestly never been told by any bakery to go home and put their donuts and pastries in the microwave ‍ Why would a bakery even sell 1 to 3 day old items? Just donate them to the homeless or something BUT don't sell them for full price to your customers! I mean come on... I even reached out to the owner via Instagram and she came at me with all the excuses saying things like "I am sorry you're not happy with your purchase" and "I really don't know what you would like to do here." No resolution and/or refund was even offered. So disappointed in this place. I really wanted to like it too! Lesson Learned. I will NOT be coming back here.

Most custom cake bakeries want much more advance notice but Nostalgia House only needed 48 hours. The people at the bakery were very responsive to both my phone calls and messages via their Facebook page. Everyone at the party loved the design and flavor of the cake, Lemon cake with strawberry filling. The bakery literally said we could do any flavor so tons of options available to you. Arrived at the bakery on a Saturday around 10am and they had my cake ready to go and it was great. Also a fair price. I will say if you are going to this bakery looking for pastries on Saturday...go early. When I got there at 10 they were cleaned out. It's a nice space clean, quiet and cozy. On the one hand there is nothing extra like onions or peppers it is loaded with eggs and tasty pork sausage. The tortilla was very good, not too thick but thin and tender. Even though I was hungry it was difficult to finish the large burrito. I would definitely come back just for the burrito. I tried a blueberry streusel muffin- didn't care for it, seemed dry and lacked blueberries. The muffin itself had a yellow cake like batter and the streusel lacked sweetness or flavor. I also chose a Carmel pecan roll. It was much more to my liking, especially after I warmed it up. It was much like my grandmother used to make. Soft, nice amount of topping. Finally I tried a mini sourdough loaf . Made toast with it and it was tasty, toasted up nice. I will come back to try some of the other treats they have- and definitely another burrito!!

So I ordered a caramel macchiato, which was okay. The place is a bit crowded with furniture but there's a side room that is spacious for sitting and chatting. It is quite loud both times I was in. Read Carol's review and the management response…read more I appreciate that management took the time to write such a detailed reply, but it's disappointing when the response acknowledges that improvements are needed without any noticeable changes being made. In my opinion, managers need to be actively involved in their stores to ensure things are running smoothly. You can't always rely on others to maintain your standards if you're not present to see what's happening firsthand. Having all hands on deck and paying attention to the customer experience is essential to running a successful business. When I stopped in to grab a couple of lattes, the young man working behind the register was not particularly welcoming. He made me feel as though I was inconveniencing him simply by placing an order. I had planned to purchase a few other items, including chocolate, but his demeanor made me want to grab my drinks and leave as quickly as possible. Prices are high in my opinion. Customer service matters. You can have excellent products, but if customers don't feel welcome, they may not want to return. That's something management should take seriously.
