It was recommended that I try this place from a friend after he posted his food online. He had a bento box style lunch but I didn't see that on the menu which was okay - wanted sushi anyway. The miso soup was flavorful and hot - delicious. The warm edamame had just the right amount of salt. The server was very attentive and the restaurant was clean. We will be back. read more

Finally got the chance to try this place for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. They have a nice selection of classic and specialty dishes to choose from, but I really liked the combo options. I ended up going with sushi combo #1 which came with edamame, 5 pieces of assorted nigiri, a spicy tuna roll, & spicy tuna over crispy rice - it felt like a good value for $18. The salmon stood out - it was super fresh and buttery. I also really liked their toro from Spain which was amazing - deff order this if they have it! The service was really nice and everything came out quickly. Last night was their soft opening and everything from the food to the customer service was ON POINT! I'm a self proclaimed sashimi lover and during dinner, I fell in love once again (with the yummy food)! It was super busy when I got there but lucky me were able to grab a seat right at the bar + got to witness the sushi chefs show off their magic. I hit twice the lucky jackpot when they announced "moi" as the raffle winner for one of the FABULOUS prizes. (Did someone say Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag?????) Check out my pics to believe it! I usually hate to admit this but I lack (quite a lot) of patience when it comes to eating out. I despise having to flag down a waiter to order my food then wait another 20 minutes just to have them bring out a glass of water. Sorry but not sorry ....I'm just a busy gal. However, you will never run into this issue at Bora Sushi my friends... because there's a QR code you scan right at your table to order + pay. Talk about convenience! I had such a wonderful time last night that I added a future visit to my bucket list. My biggest regret was getting there late and not having the chance to down another bottle of Sake (just kidding). I highly recommend this new gem to all my fellow Elite Yelpers. Five stars!!!!!! read more

I went with a group of friends, one of whom opened a couple of the most famous and high quality sushi restaurants in LA. Even she was very impressed. The chef sent us a truffle salmon sashimi plate that was out of this world. The prices are great, quality above and beyond, and the owners are super nice. I post this just to hope that a local, high quality place could make a go of it in WeHo! Go!!! You won't regret it!! read more

WOW WOW WOW Can I just say how incredible the food here is? Got seated with an incredibly friendly server and instantly made me feel welcomed and comfortable. Got started off with some sushi and wow, the warmth of the rice and fish was perfection. They just melted in my mouth and I wanted more. The blue crab roll was fat and juicy... the dragon roll was perfect. The fish to rice ratio was just the perfect amount. I love Nobu and I love Bora. What a find. The freshest fish that melts in your mouth. And very inventive. Shockingly good at a very low price. Unlike Nobu and maybe a little stretch but, pretty close in quality. Hmmm I have been waiting over an hour for my take out. It's not even busy in here. What I think is that they only have one (inexperienced) sushi chef and a second making the other dishes. Would love to add an opinion on the food but no food yet. Still waiting when the estimated time was 25-30 mins. So it's double that time. Also this guy running around serving the tables hasn't even offered me any tea or anything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plus the inside is trash. A bunch of things that should be hidden is stored in the front when you walk in. An electric scooter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe in here is more like a place closing down than a vibrant thriving shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really want to give this place a chance. The food might be MIGHT be good but after this I don't know if I will ever come back for the price. Go up to sunset for Ta-Ke Sushi. Way better for the price. The sushi was shockingly bad--nothing tasted fresh. The salmon sashimi lacked flavor, and there was no truffle taste in the miso soup as advertised. Even the ginger was unpleasant. Absolutely disappointing and not worth it. read more

I ordered pick up from Bora Sushi. Upon arrival, the hostess (Joy) and waitress was extremely nice. She was extra accommodating, even including a free drink. The nigiri sushi were pretty well prepared. The size was pretty good for the price - and each were accompanied by a small garnish on top or a little bit of sauce brushed on. We attended a friend's birthday dinner here, and what should have been a great evening turned into a case study in how not to treat customers. There were six of us, and everyone ordered individually. Four of the six guests ordered cooked entrées. Thanh and I each ordered the Chef's Choice Sashimi along with a Spicy Tuna Roll. We had a 7:15 reservation but weren't seated until 7:45. We placed our orders just before 8:00. By 8:30, the four cooked entrées had arrived. Thanh and I were still waiting. We asked about our order and were told it was coming. We waited longer and asked again. Someone who appeared to be the manager came over and assured us it would be "right out." By 9:15, everyone else at the table had finished eating, and we still hadn't been served. At that point, I told the manager to cancel our order. Waiting over an hour after everyone else had been served was simply unacceptable. He apologized. A few minutes later, he returned carrying our Spicy Tuna Roll and asked, "Are you sure you don't want it? It's already made." Wrong answer. The correct response would have been: "Please enjoy this with our compliments while we prepare the rest of your order." Instead, he tried to convince us to take food we had already canceled after waiting more than an hour. Our waiter then came over and admitted the mistake was his. He explained that he had entered the order incorrectly, the larger plates came out first, and there wasn't room for the sashimi. I'm sorry, but that's not my problem. Customers shouldn't pay the price for breakdowns between the server and the kitchen. I again told him we wanted the order canceled. About five minutes later, he returned with a different sushi roll, explaining it was from the chef as an apology. Unfortunately, it wasn't very good. In fact, everyone else at the table tried it and agreed it was awful. Why they didn't simply comp the original Spicy Tuna Roll instead of sending out a mediocre substitute is beyond me. What amazed me most wasn't that they made a mistake. Every restaurant does. It was that every opportunity to recover from that mistake was handled poorly. Sushi Samba gets a 10 for atmosphere, a 5 for food, and a 0 for service. I'd absolutely go back for a cocktail on the rooftop. For dinner? I'd eat somewhere else first.

With something already saturated with lemon, why are you serving me pickled vegetables? Would you also like to serve me a cup of vinegar juice to wash it down with? I vowed never ever to come back, until... I tried their lattes. Hear me out, they make their own syrups. Lattes are amazing, fire, 10 out of 10! So I'll come back for those, and I do, consistently. As for the food and the pastries, who knows maybe they do serve something good in this restaurant, but the first experience was such a miss, that I'm not gonna risk my tastebuds trying to find that out. There's too many really good restaurants in LA. Fool me once... As for the service itself: the managers, the employees, they're amazing; 10 out of ten nice neighborly great people.
