Bridget M.

We stopped here on our first day in Montreal. We started outside on the patio with oysters and cocktails. When it started raining we moved inside. It was a great meal on a rainy day! They have a very delicious cocktail menu and we tried most of them. We had the octopus and steak for entrees. So delicious. We were curious about Chartreuse and the bar tender brought us a shot. Very interesting. Overall a great meal with great service, delicious food and drinks and clean restrooms.

Great location! Tapas - Spanish Cuisine and Cocktails!! Had the jamon croquettes came with a bechamel and Brava sauce... very tasty. The Patatas Bravas tho, had very little tomato sauce - the potatoes were cut as French fries, odd. They were good but about 60% were a little overcooked.

Crudo appetizer.

Stopped by for a mid afternoon drink and appetizers while visiting Montreal. Beautiful ambience on a hot summer day and a welcoming terrace. The crudo and oysters were amazing. Shahan and crew provided great conversation and service!

You want to be brought in and it's dark and moody with the BEST craft cocktail list. The theme is duck - which is so fun. Our bartender was OUTSTANDING. He gave not only the best drink recommendations, but also gave us a hand written list of his favorite spots in MTL (drinks, dining, activities, etc). I wish we would've gotten his name because I cannot praise him enough!

The first time, the music was extremely loud, and it seemed like they were short-staffed. The bar was completely packed, and there was only one bartender making drinks, so the wait was a bit longer than expected. We decided to give it another try, and I'm so glad we did. The second visit was amazing! The bartender working that night was incredible--she clearly knows her craft and made our drinks quickly without sacrificing quality. Every cocktail was delicious, and the overall experience was much more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Coldroom. My only suggestion would be that, with a space that busy, the bar could really benefit from having an additional bartender during peak hours. It would help keep wait times down and make an already great experience even better.

El Pequeño Bar - Baseball card menu!

The vibe was magnetic. Just wanna put this in your little craw: El Pájaro is the sauce. Simple spin on a daiquiri takes house pineapple rum (a mega-layered blend of 7 rums blessed with ananas for a spiky, sweet base) and adds a dash or two of absinthe before flaring it up in a shaken blaze of glory. I mean, get El Pájaro but pretend to look at the other foods because the menu is a baseball card folder with fun and funky players for each of the dranks. Food? They may not have space for much, but they have what matters -plantain chips and a panini press for as authentic a Cubano sandwich as you'll find in Montreal. Slippity slapped and was the best snack to pair with Papa Pájaro. It's Jackson's baby, but Brennan was a delight, too, sharing some insider baseball on other quirky cocktail programs in the area, including Sample (review forthcoming). So, thanks Brennan - you rule!

Unfortunately, when I arrived, I found a notice on the door indicating that the restaurant was currently closed, even though it was supposed to open at 5 PM according to Yelp. Service was phenomenal and our waiter checked in frequently with us. The food was absolutely immaculate. My favorite starter was the salmon crudo. For the main, two people carried out a mouth dropping spread of tiger shrimp, scallops, grilled octopus, lobster, lamb chops and a tomahawk. More than enough food for the 6 and everything was cooked perfectly- octopus wasn't chewy and the meats were super flavorful and tender. They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions as well. They had a DJ and lively atmosphere after dinner so we stayed and got bottle service. Fun spot with great food is always a winner in my eyes. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Montreal!
