    Foccacia for the burrata
    Ernie B.

This was our first dinner in Montreal, and was by far our best meal of the trip. The burrata romesco was incredible, and the chicken pot pie was stunning. The fisherman's pie was tasty, but the chicken took the prize. our old fashioned and my violet underground cocktails were top notch, and even the rose and nut lemonade was a delight (they ran out of almond and substituted maple syrup which was even better!) The staff were all warm and helpful in such a busy place, and we so appreciated it. Thanks!

Wolf & Workman was on a recommendation list provided by my hotel in Old Port, Montreal. I stopped by for lunch since it was close by. They had a beautiful courtyard seating area in the back of the restaurant. Service was good. Sorry, I know servers hate getting hit with the "what are your recommendations" question, but I, as a foreigner, had to ask. She explained that the popular items are the pot pies. I ended up getting the fisherman pie $29. The ingredients were good, but tbh it slightly fishy. I love seafood, but even I was getting a tad nauseous toward the end. I shared the Scotch egg $17, which was interesting to try. The Archibald belle mer IPA $9.75 was great! I loved the fruity taste and the hoppiness. Bathroom entrance in courtyard. We came here for lunch recently and loved the experience. The patio had a nice ambiance with pretty chairs and tables and a nice greenery decorating the terrace. The service was a bit slow but they were packed when we were there. All the food was good....the salmon, the burger and fries and the chicken pot pie. They had a good selection of drinks and cocktails to choose from. Located a bit away from the main touristy (and loud) area of St Paul in Old Montreal, it's a nice quiet place for a meal.

    Zucchini pasta

This review is a bit overdue. I visited in October of 2024. All the dishes were disappointing and the beer that I ordered came out flat that I had to send it back. Pork chop had a huge chunk of fat embedded and barely any meat and the sauce was lacking flavors. I do know that pork chops usually have a pretty big portion of fat but my order had an unacceptable ratio of fat to meat. The steak was overcooked and dry and the salad that came with it wasn't fresh, which shows in my photo. The zucchini pasta was extremely bland and had no flavor whatsoever. Tip: This place has rotating menu so all the dishes that I wanted to try were not on the menu when I visited so I'd recommend checking out their current menu offering before visiting.

    Beef stroganoff pot pie (inside)

I went after hearing good things at a dinner and then seeing pics of the beef stroganoff pot pie. I went early (4:30ish) on a Sunday. I waited a minute or so for the host but was promptly at the bar. This is a well lit bar with lots of dark wood and pictures. I got a cider which was on tap. I don't remember the name but it was light and mildly sweet. Wanting some veggies I ordered the butternut squash and Romano croquettes. These were so savory with the pickled onion giving some bite texturally and acidly. Fortunately for me the beef stroganoff pot pie was available a little early so I was able to order it. The pot pie is huge and stuffed with tender beef. It hit all the right notes and completely lived up to my hopes. The crust was crisp and tender. Wolf & Workman is a gastropub worth a visit - even winding through the construction.

Got into Montreal in the evening and stumbled upon this gem while looking for a place for dinner. There was a good crowd upon our arrival, but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Our party of four started with the burrato appetizer, made from locally sourced cheese and tomatoes, which was incredible. For a main dishes, we got the chicken pot pie, the chicken, tikka masala, the cheeseburger with fries, and the pasta with clam sauce. All of the meals presented well and tasted great. The chicken pot pie was the star of the show and is highly recommended. Excellent service from our waitress and all the friendly staff. I would highly recommend a visit and a seating in their garden section.

Had to try the chicken pot pie after seeing pictures of many, and it was so good! The pastry is so puffy, got so many flaky layers, and perfect for the rich chicken pot pie. Very filling and yummy! I also got the winter pear spritz cocktail, which was refreshing! Service was great! Both the bartender and the waitress are warm and welcoming Ambience is also warm and relaxing from decor to music. Didn't sit outside but it's also cold. Next time! Highly recommended!

Great food and friendly service. We had the salmon gravlax, eggplant croquettes, Cornish game hen and crème brûlée. every dish was spectacular, but they also highly recommend recommended the pot pies, which we will try the next time.

Food was wonderful. All of it. 4 stars because the service was not great, but the food made up for it.

This is a beautiful little pub style cafe with a lot of character. The place was very busy despite being in the middle of a road under construction in the restaurant row of old town Montreal. We had a delicious appetizer with sumac-flavored falafel, hummus, pickled turnips, pita and pomegranate seeds. The star of the show was the Italian wedding soup! Wow! Amazing. Get your own and don't share! The homemade focaccia bread on the side is a lovable co-star. Salad was bright and interesting, but chicken was "meh." Burger was good, but not great. Staff is amazing! They seat, serve, clean - and do it all at warp speed!

First real pub experience in Montreal. Came for lunch with a friend on a Wednesday late afternoon. Place was not super busy, plenty of tables occupied in the back terrace. Ordered the chicken pot pie and my friend had the steak with a side of fries. Pros: - chicken pot pie $28 was searing hot and so delicious and filling - steak $MP was done perfectly - searing was very comfortable with the heat lamp turned on Notes: - service was on the slower side, to be fair- it got busier with more patrons coming into his area - Americano $5 had a really weak shot of espresso. I should have known better than to order coffee at a pub

Stopped in here for drinks before a dinner reservation, very cool vibes in this place and the service was great! Also had an order of fries that were top notch, didn't eat full meals so we can't speak to that but if they're anything like the drinks you couldn't go wrong.

    Yank breakfast

Great British pub that had some solid brunch options - we stopped by for a pint and a bite and were so glad we did! Food-wise, we shared the Yank Breakfast and Scotch Egg, both were so good. Solid beer/cider on draft! Would recommend.

Working in Montreal for the week and while hunting around for dinner I did my usual Yelp'ing! I…read morediscovered Pub BreWskey near my hotel so I decided to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: The entrance is kinda off the beaten path and the restaurant is located under what looks like some sort of laboratory. Once down the stairs you're greeted by what feels like an underground speakeasy vibes! There's exposed copper ventilation pipes, exposed warm lightbulbs, raw concrete, wood and quite a few places to sit. I sat at the bar on the metal chairs like all pros do! But off to the side is a set of stairs which leads down to the ACTUAL BREWERY where all of the beer is made! I loved that there were windows in which you could look out of to see the giant vats. Really cool. Service: Dany at the bar took excellent care of me and there was nothing more I could've asked of him. He was attentive, fun and made sure I enjoyed my time there. Food/Drinks: First up I started with their Brew Juice, a beer made right in-house. It was their "beer smoothie". It was sweet, filling, thick, sour and crazy flavorful! Tasted nothing like a beer at all. My first appetizer was the Bacon Jerky which is thick-cut bacon in a beer maple glaze, chili seasonings, sesame seeds and green onions. It was mildly sweet, salty, savory, thick, tender and really, really good and not what I was expecting given the name. My 2nd beer was the Double Goose. This one was deliciously sour, gentle, not too sweet at all or harsh. For my entree I went with their special that was written in chalk on the board! I was the Sandwich of Duck & Lamb. The salad on the side was GREAT! Good bitter greens with rich, robust dressing. The chips the sandwich also came with were seasoned well and had an excellent spicy mayo dipping sauce. Sandwich was GREAT as well! Bread was softer than expected. Rich, buttery flavor. The 2 meats were light and worked well together. The sandwich is called "Sandwich Au Lapin De Cannard", but "lapin" translates to rabbit. Warm, cheesy, comforting, filling. Lil' cajun flavor. Caught a bone or 2 while eating it. It happens. Value: It's a brewery that actually serves food and that's always a plus! All prices are in $CAD. My first 12 oz. beer was $8.75. My 2nd one was $9.00. The bacon jerky was $10.00 and the sandwich with salad and chips was $26.00. Extremely reasonable if you ask me. In conclusion, I really enjoyed my time here at Pub BreWskey and I would surely pay this place another visit. Beers rotate all the time so what I had may not even be around by the time you visit. Same goes for the specials on the chalkboard! Thank you for reading and supporting local businesses.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. Review for their Quartier Dix30 location, 2025…read more.. Horrible ending to our night, false accusations by their staff... My friends and I went to this pub as a portion of our celebrating one of their birthdays this evening. For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.

Horrible service. They didn't let 3 of my peers with REAL ID in the club. And when my friend…read moreconfronted them, the next time she came in they told her she was "the bitch with the attitude". Tremendously rude bouncers. Don't recommend.
