Working in Montreal for the week and while hunting around for dinner I did my usual Yelp'ing! I discovered Pub BreWskey near my hotel so I decided to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: The entrance is kinda off the beaten path and the restaurant is located under what looks like some sort of laboratory. Once down the stairs you're greeted by what feels like an underground speakeasy vibes! There's exposed copper ventilation pipes, exposed warm lightbulbs, raw concrete, wood and quite a few places to sit. I sat at the bar on the metal chairs like all pros do! But off to the side is a set of stairs which leads down to the ACTUAL BREWERY where all of the beer is made! I loved that there were windows in which you could look out of to see the giant vats. Really cool. Service: Dany at the bar took excellent care of me and there was nothing more I could've asked of him. He was attentive, fun and made sure I enjoyed my time there. Food/Drinks: First up I started with their Brew Juice, a beer made right in-house. It was their "beer smoothie". It was sweet, filling, thick, sour and crazy flavorful! Tasted nothing like a beer at all. My first appetizer was the Bacon Jerky which is thick-cut bacon in a beer maple glaze, chili seasonings, sesame seeds and green onions. It was mildly sweet, salty, savory, thick, tender and really, really good and not what I was expecting given the name. My 2nd beer was the Double Goose. This one was deliciously sour, gentle, not too sweet at all or harsh. For my entree I went with their special that was written in chalk on the board! I was the Sandwich of Duck & Lamb. The salad on the side was GREAT! Good bitter greens with rich, robust dressing. The chips the sandwich also came with were seasoned well and had an excellent spicy mayo dipping sauce. Sandwich was GREAT as well! Bread was softer than expected. Rich, buttery flavor. The 2 meats were light and worked well together. The sandwich is called "Sandwich Au Lapin De Cannard", but "lapin" translates to rabbit. Warm, cheesy, comforting, filling. Lil' cajun flavor. Caught a bone or 2 while eating it. It happens. Value: It's a brewery that actually serves food and that's always a plus! All prices are in $CAD. My first 12 oz. beer was $8.75. My 2nd one was $9.00. The bacon jerky was $10.00 and the sandwich with salad and chips was $26.00. Extremely reasonable if you ask me. In conclusion, I really enjoyed my time here at Pub BreWskey and I would surely pay this place another visit. Beers rotate all the time so what I had may not even be around by the time you visit. Solid spot for poutine and beer! Our server said they have the best poutine in Old Port, and I'm inclined to believe her. Location: at the north end of Rue St Paul. You will see the awning and outdoor seating. Poutine du chef CAD$29 was excellent. Brisket was on the lean side. Chicken was great. Gravy was the best part. Smash burger western CAD $26 was massive for a smash. We substituted onion rings for extra $2. Sevanor was a triple IPA that tasted great and very hoppy. The 16 oz was CAD$10. Our server was great! I'll start with the good. The HOUSE-BREWED BEER was great. They included some sours and some interesting radler/smoothie blends. Ordering a flight is as easy as ordering as many 5oz beers that you want to try. For something different, I really enjoyed the MANGRITA. Now for the other side of the review. POUTINE and SMOKED MEAT are staple Montreal foods. I ordered the smoked meat poutine, which was large enough to be shared. I was alone and couldn't eat it all. The smoked meat is supposed to be super tender, but it was chewy/rubbery. The gravy is supposed to be an umami explosion, but it had a slight burnt/bitter flavor. I have enjoyed many better poutines in Montreal on my visits. The underground seating is fun as is the outdoor seating where I sat. Service was good, checking on me frequently. read more

We stumbled on BreWskey's while exploring the Old Port of Montreal. We had to stop in and what a great little spot. The beer selection is great, and the Poutine was scrumptious. They use one of their beer's in the gravy and it added another level of flavor. The fries were crispy and creamy, each bite was delicious. I enjoyed a glass of wine while Mr. Bee did a flight and settled on his favorite. The staff was really friendly, we sat at a high top table near the bar and enjoyed the view into the brewery. Just a comfortable, casual and fun spot to hang out and enjoy cold drinks on an unusually warm day in Montreal. Highly recommend and we would absolutely go back. read more

I was on a family vacation in Montreal and we found Pub BreWskey while exploring. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The smoked brisket, poutine, and appetizers were all delicious. Pleasantly surprised with this spot! There's a tap room side and a bar/restaurant side. We ended up going to the bar/restaurant side to eat/drink and hopped over to the tap room side to get some beer to go. We did get the smoked meat poutine and I thought it was pretty good. The cheese curds were squeaky and the smoked meat was shockingly good. Didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! Service was great too. Highly recommend! read more

The beer here was very good and the hazy was world class! I am a big Hazy fan (and brewer) and would put the one we had here up against any I've had. Make sure you don't stay in the pub but go over to the room where you can see the brew floor. Next time we are in QC will certainly be back. read more

We were out enjoying the day, but being a hot summer day we wanted something to cool us down. My wife had looked up BreWskey earlier and saw that they were known for having good smoked meats. Thankfully when we checked the menu we saw they had a salad option so we decided to try them out. The hostess was really friendly and got us seated quickly and wiped our table down. The waitstaff was quick and friendly getting us some waters and talking to us about the beer options on tap. They took our order for the smoked chicken caesar salad and our beers. They came back out with the drinks quickly so we could enjoy them while waiting for the food. I got the 'Lots of Riwaka' beer, since it used only the specialty Riwaka hops. Absolutely delicious beer, nice and hazy, one of the better IPAs I've had and will definitely be keeping an eye out for this hop variety. The smoked chicken caesar came out and it was a pretty good size salad, definitely a full meal. The smell of the chicken is great, you can really smell and taste that they do smoke the chicken. It might be a bit strong, but with the caesar dressing in the salad it worked really well. The meat was really tender and the salad greens were fresh and crispy. Very enjoyable experience all around and the out door seating is great. read more

We climbed down the steps to the taproom on a not-busy Tuesday afternoon. Sat in the big red chairs overlooking the actual brewery and just enjoyed the good tunes and great beers. I'm not a fan of IPA's (too bitter) but they purposefully brew their beer to be tasty. I enjoyed every beer I tasted. We ordered a side of Mac and cheese (delish) and the pulled pork sandwich! WOW! Great spot in the old port for a brewsky, wings and poutine! We stopped in late on a weeknight because our flight came in quite late and their kitchen was open still thank goodness as we were starving! We each ordered a beer, I got the buffalo chicken wings and we shared a side poutine. The side poutine was a generous portion and was more beefy peppery flavoured gravy. The wings were big and cooked perfectly! The sauce wasn't your traditional Franks but it was still good! They also have a great patio space for spring/summer with cute twinkling lights! It seems I spend half of every vacation popping into anyplace that has an IPA on their menu. Mind you, I'm not a consumer of IPA, just a supporter. When you get into a tourist-filled area such as Montreal's Old Port, it pays to be prudent in researching your options. I didn't, of course, but wound up here because those outdoor picnic tables looked like an attractive proposition and any self-respecting place with "pub" and "brew" in their name is surely going to feature some IPAs. Pub BreWskey did and they were well-received. But what do I remember weeks later? I remember the unfortunate grilled cheese sandwich I shared, featuring a too-thick, too-chewy piece of ham in its center and house-made potato chips that were too thick, too oily, and not an appetizing texture. I also had an onion dip that I couldn't keep my paws off of and, given the heat and humidity, a cocktail that was basically guzzled. Conclusion? Things here are a bit inconsistent. That said, stick to the alcohol and onion dip and the patio is a nice place to kill a couple of hours in the Old Port area. read more

In a very walkable area - a good location in close proximity to the waterfront shops. The staff were quick to take our orders, and we were given a buzzer to notify us that our order was ready for pick up. I ordered the poutine and raspberry beer (#19 on the menu presently). I loved the beer, very flavourful with a brilliant colour. I did not like the poutine. Lots of cheese curds, nothing wrong with the fries, but the gravy was absolutely terrible. The tap room is cozy, i liked the moody/warm feel. It's small near the tap though - so if there's a busy time it's a bit congested. The system works out to have an order counter then that gets sent to the tap guys to pour your drink. I liked that system! There's also a small kitchen in the back for a smokehouse with a small menu - I had the mac and cheese and it was tasty. This brewery is literally across the street from the Ferris Wheel if you are having difficulty finding this place. Beer: excellent craft beer! I recommend the ESB. Staff: the service here is just horrible. The young lady that sat us, just literally stared at us when we were trying to get her attention to order beer. I finally got up and went to the bar to get some samples to try. She never came to ask us what we wanted, so my husband went up to order beer for us. If you want beer, go to the bar and get it yourself. Bathroom: they are upstairs. Take your camera because you get an excellent view of the brewery up there. Check your tap before leaving to make sure they get your order right. A gentlemen brought us water when we sat down. We had two beers and we were charge for 4. Amazing craft brewery in Montreal. This is located in Old Montreal. They have some very tasty fruity beers that they make in house. I am not a beer drinker. B said their beer are very flavorful and less on the hoppy side. He tried two beers one was a sour (BreWskey Sunbath) and the the other was a beer peach smoothie (BreWskey Brew Juice Fuit Medley) flavor. He loved both beer. Underground bar tucked away further down the main road. Welcoming interior with large booths, bar seating, and table service. Twenty one different beers on draft, with something for just about everyone. Decided on the Chimp Imperial IPA ($8.25) to start off - a creamy hop with lots of flavor, smoother than anticipated. Second beer was the Givre IPA ($8.25) - a lighter more tropical ale. For food, split the Nuts & Curds ($8), as well as the Nachos ($19). The nuts and curds come in a small bowl - a nice combo of sweet, salty, chewy, and crunchy. Nachos are your basic fare - melted cheese, onions, and jalapenos on warm chips with guac/salsa to the side. Chips were a bit stale and the guac was only okay. Liked the rest however. Service is consistent as they get around the room quick. Liked the ambiance, but be wary of the slippery steps during the cold. read more

Walked here with 2 elderly folks, and they were exhausted when we arrived. To enter, there's somewhat steep stairs to go down into the restaurant. I was anxious in getting the grandparents down and was told that it was very small inside the building. Outside, the seats that weren't taken were high stools that would be tough to get the grandparents on. I explained my concern to the employees and they moved multiple tables together and took the smaller chairs to accommodate our older folks' needs. There were multiple times where we asked for extra things and they helped us with no complaint. The food came out in a fair amount of time with a little wait. It's safe to say the service was excellent and friendly. Foodwise, the burgers were delicious and rich although the meat, while having a nice, soft texture, lacked in flavor, but the toppings complimented it and gave it personality. The fries were soft but not soggy and the flavor was muted but paired well with its sauce. The onion rings (my favorite part) had a perfect flavor: not too bland or salty, and a nice crunchy texture. The same goes for the fish and chips and popcorn shrimp, and the tartar sauce wasn't too flavorful or bland but paired well with the fish. The coleslaw had an interesting horseradish flavor and wasn't too heavy with mayo. Overall, food was delicious, despite me feeling dense after all of the fried food in the end. I have to admit that the menu didn't have much variety, but the delicious tasting food made up for it. The servings are quite big and are loaded with fries so that may be important to keep in mind. However, my family all enjoyed it and left feeling satisfied. read more

We went here a few times during our Montreal vacation! Staff was always friendly and all the foods we tried were tasty! We tried cornish hen, caesar salad, calamari, and chicken wings. Their beers were tasty, but especially this blueberry one that they tragically ran out of and we couldn't order it again the next times we visited. Pro tip - there are two sides of the restaurant and they have different food menus. I preferred the waterfront view, it had such a nice view next to one of the Notre Dame churches. But it was definitely more popping and I often saw a line - so try to come early if you can to avoid a wait! read more

We weren't sure what to expect from @pubbrewskey but we were very pleased about the broad list of microbrewed beers and thoroughly impressed with the surprisingly excellent pub style food.
