    Kilkenny on tap

Came for the food, stayed for the vibes! The bacon poutine? Next level amazing. We tried the butter chicken pizza too--sounds wild, tastes awesome. Kudos to Angie the bartender--super friendly, made us feel like regulars, and had some top-tier drink and food recs. Also... Kilkenny on tap. I'm obsessed. Pretty sure I could take down a whole keg solo (don't test me). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Awesome spot, killer service, and just a good time all around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait to come back!

I had decided to meet up with some ex-work colleagues for some drinks since I was downtown but due to some people deciding to work from home and some people who worked onsite not being available after work, only one of my ex-work colleagues managed to show up. I arrived there alone at about 5:15pm-ish and as I walked in, I was asked whether I wanted to sit at the bar or sit at a table. I opted for a table. I was then given the food menu and a drinks menu. I took a look at the drinks menu and wasn't sure what I would have. I asked the server how large certain drinks were and then opted for the 3 litres of beer. My server asked if I was sure and then I mentioned that someone would be showing up and she informed me that 3 litres should be fine then since she has seen two people drink this before. For me, I had a rough idea of the amount since I've had or bought 2 litre soft drink bottles before at the grocery store but never drank a 2 litre bottle of soft drink myself in a single sitting. When my server brought the 3 litres of beer, I was shocked by the size of it as it didn't come in a standard pitcher but came in some sort of a dispensing container which was tube-shaped. I noticed that there was a patron WiFi access point name so I asked the server for the password while I waited for my friend to show up and she provided it to me. I browsed on my mini-tablet while I tried the beer and waited for my friend to show up. He showed up at about 6:00pm and he told me that he wasn't planning on drinking a lot but did luckily he did help me to go through the 3 litres of beer as it would have been too much for me to finish myself (although he only had 2 glasses of beer. I believe that the server that I had was finishing her shift so she dropped by our table to ask if we would mind settling up the bill which is normally what happens due to tips, etc. and it wasn't an issue so I paid for the beer and we continued to drink at the table. The place does get loud in the evening so at times, it was difficult to hear my friend and I felt that I had to shout/yell. We left shortly after finishing the beer. In a rush to leave, I forgot that I left my umbrella at the side of the table and as I was going home on the metro, I remembered. I called and the person I spoke with informed me that there were a few umbrellas in their lost & found that matched my description. As I would be downtown again the following day, I asked if I could pick it up tomorrow and was informed that I just needed to ask for the "lost & found" area. I showed up the following day during my lunch and when I mentioned to the hostess that I was a patron last night and forgot my umbrella at the side table, she immediately handed it to me without me having to go through the "lost & found" area. The only minor point that I had to say about my experience in McLean's Pub is that they either don't have or don't advertise any 5a7 special pricing as I didn't see any mention of it in the menu or on the table.

Great atmosphere on a hockey night. Friendly service and fast. Good selection on beers. Wings were a little small. Loved the fish n chip. Moist inside and good crunch. Home fries are tasty. We enjoyed our meal

While flying from California to Montreal, I found McLean's on yelp. I sent a message asking if they could hold a table for my group so we can watch the Ducks v Sens game. I got an immediate response from the owner it was no problem, but no sound as the Habs game would trump our game. No problem! When we got there, bad news. Rogers TV blocked our game. No worries we still had to eat. We were led to the back, past the slot machines, and up the stairs to a cozy nook all of our own. There were tvs surrounding us, just too bad it wasn't our game. Our server was excellent. She first asked each of us our name, wrote it down, and then wrote our order based on our names. By the middle of the evening she actually called to us by name. How personal! She was sassy and she was organized. We did have 1 or 2 orders mixed up, but it was corrected. She even divided our cheque based on party rather than giving us one big bill. Maybe they do that in Montreal but we don't get that luxury in California! I can't find anything bad about the place.. .well except our game was blacked out, but that's Rogers TV, not the bars. Food was good, but I after visting other places in Montreal, it wasn't the greatest. I'd definitely patronize them again if I am in town.

Mill street organic lager and a double Talisker rocks. Let the night start.

Like a warm blanket on a cold winter day, this oasis on the middle of downtown has served me and my friends well for about 25 years. Like Neil Young sang about a small town in the song Helpless, "All my changes were there" That's how I feel about McLean's. It's the friendly staff, the old wood tables, chairs and wall paneling, the TVs, the pool tables upstairs, the Habs games watched, and the time Carolina beat us in the playoffs and my buddy Rick came as close as I have ever seen to a live heart attack. The memories, the dates, the times we came here to pre-drink, post drink, and those other nights when we just stayed put here the whole time. The stories I could tell would only be rivalled by those about the Peel Pub...(not the new bullshit location next door, the real one on the corner of St. Catherine and Peel, may god rest its soul) The food here is average pub fare but always hits the spot. I hope it NEVER changes. I fucking love you McLean's! Yours Truly,

    Justine S.

Came by for a quick 5-7 drink. It's a cool place, very spacious, quick service, giant beer bucks. I ordered the onion rings to share with my boyfriend and although the portion was generous, the onion rings weren't good. Very soft and tasteless. It could be a cool place to meet up with friends and have a drink. Might come back and try some other food.

Even those with more casual interest in beer probably know that DDC makes really great drinks. And yep, they were excellent. I wasn't there to do a long session, so I got a couple tasters, one including Peche Mortal and the other a NEIPA. Two very different styles and both extremely well done. Beyond that, the space had a very old-fashioned look. Really nice wooden fixtures and a very warm, welcoming vibe. The server was also attentive and friendly, but also knew when to let people sit back and enjoy their drinks. You probably don't need me to tell you, but yes, you should go.

He expressed interest in hitting up some breweries, so I did some research and compiled a few we could potentially visit. Brasserie Dieu du Ciel was one of them, and it just so happened we were in its vicinity after our Mile End food tour concluded. That being said, we made our way over. While I am not a beer person myself, I'll have a round or two if I'm with a group, and can appreciate a good brewery. My first impression of Dieu du Ciel was just that - the vibes were on walking in. The space is pretty large - kinda separated into semi- compartmentalized spaces with tables throughout. There's not much decor, but medium-toned woods throughout which gave it a sort of upscale feel. They offer a food menu, but we were just here for drinks. They have a really wide selection of beer - again, I'm no connoisseur, but I could tell that the selection was way more than other breweries I've been to. I ended up getting a cider for the first round and a stout for my second round - both very good. Service was great, and overall we enjoyed our time at Dieu du Ciel. Their selection and comfortable setting made it a standout brewery for me out of the ones I've visited in Montreal - I wouldn't hesitate to return.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. Review for their Quartier Dix30 location, 2025…read more.. Horrible ending to our night, false accusations by their staff... My friends and I went to this pub as a portion of our celebrating one of their birthdays this evening. For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.

We were originally over by the Jean-Talon Market, and since we were staying downtown we wanted to find somewhere on our way back. Brutopia fit the bill, so off we went. I really liked the vibes as soon as we entered - the place isn't too large, but still spacious enough to have two semi-split up rooms. We stayed in the front room that housed the bar, some tables, as well as a small stage where (I assume) live music plays. We chose a table near a window and the waitress brought over the menus right away. We ordered some wine, an order of wings and an order of Patron tacos. The wine came out right away and the food arrived about ten minutes later. Everything was really tasty. The wings were nice and crisp, with juicy interiors. The tacos were corn and the fillings were plentiful with beef and onion. The only things missing were some veggies and dip with the wings and something fresh with the tacos like a pico de gallo. Regardless, we really enjoyed the food and the waitress was friendly and very efficient. We would definitely come back.
