I was walking down the street when I happened to come across this great bar (after telling my friend about it -- I came to find out this is a popular tourist spot). The wings were great and the beer was very well priced as well. My friend and I enjoyed this bar so much we returned back a following day. This bar also gives complimentary popcorn.

Great bar to go out to with friends! I used to come here on Thursdays after school. Now, I try to come every once in a while mainly because the atmosphere is great and the drinks are really good too. I finally tried their food this time and was surprised at how good it was. For bar food, it was actually quite tasty and fairly priced. I would highly recommend this bar if you're looking for a fun time with some good music, and wanting to watch some sports games on their TVs.

I never drink. So when some friends want to go to a bar, I just sit there sipping water and eating the snacks. This review is for all the people that go to bars just to eat. Moose bawr is a very nicely furnished student bar. The menu has awesome cheap prices (fried avocado!) and some interesting poutine choices. I wouldn't recommend ordering any of the poutines but they have very good entrees. The poutines had weird fries and the cheese was cold while the rest of the meal was warm. Very odd. I also really love that they offer free popcorn with seasoning. Best part of my visit. I wouldn't mind tagging along if my friends wanted to go back.

This is a place to drink and snack with friends. Beers are super cheap. Although the pitchers of cocktails are filled with too much ice (brainfreeze zzz) I go there only at night, but I saw their lunch specials and want to try definitely. Their fried avocados are good even though it's basic! All the food there are very salty but I think it's purpose is to drink with alcohol haha! I took a big boot beer size. It causes too much stress for me when im holding it because if the glass breaks we have to pay a lot if I remember well but worth the experience! Service is meh, the tables are always sticky and there is few gambling machines near the toilet And there is free popcorn with lots of garniture of your choice (in the back).

Known to have great sangrias, and cheap lunch specials. Came here for lunch and ordered a few of their 4$ lunch specials: the Shakira hot dog, chilli fries, fried Mac and Cheese and the white chicken peach basil sangria! I've had most of their sangrias before, which are all very delicious and quite cheap compared to most places! The food was pretty good, the hot dog is the same as the one from Costco which is good, the fried Mac and Cheese was presented in a very nice way but lacked a little seasoning and the chilli fries were very flavourful! Overall, nice place for cheap lunch and good drinks great!

The menu. You see it's a Moose and the name of the place is Moose Bawr.

This place is a little far down on St. Catherine's street but is a great place. I went during their cheap eats hours or bargin bites or discounted deliciousness whatever they call it it is very good! I started with sweet potato chips, despite not liking sweet potatoes but in chip form they taste way bettah. The serving was a good size and like I said the chips were delightful. They also have really cheap booze if you are in to that sort of thing which I am. Jager bomb was only $4.50 Canadian eh which is only like $3.51 USD. A real bargin. In fact most of their shots are about $3.51 USD which is cheap for any place in the states except maybe those real Podunk places in the Midwest. They have a good selection of cheap grub including foot long hot dogs (may not be a foot long) but eating dog dogs that large in public makes me a bit bashful so I went for the wings. They have sriacha bbq and miso orange flavored. I didn't know what miso orange was so I used a phony email address to access their wifi to look it up (true story). It sounded good enough so I got both. You get six wings to an order and for only 4 bucks you can afford to waste. I however did no such thing as the wings were great. They both were extremely hot an delicious not unlike any of the ladies who walk the streets of Montreal. After a few drinks and all my food my bill was only about $25 bucks. I left a big tip and the waitress was pretty and nice to me despite my questionable looks. Check this place out. They also have free popcorn and some slot machines if you are feeling a little froggy.

    Poutine with sausages

A Yelp event led me to this new resto located on St-Catherine's street where we hung out for a few hours within their open terrace. I was undecided to either go for their poutine or their sausages so I compromised and finally ordered a poutine + bacon cheddar sausage. Why live to 40? While we waited, someone at our table ordered some fried pickles and I had a few that was generously shared with the rest of us. Normally, I'm pretty neutral about fried pickles but they were actually very good and the home made honey mustard dipping sauce... was totally something I appreciated. YUMMY! The service was relatively slow and the whole process took a significant amount of time to order some drinks, then to get our drinks, eventually to order our food and finally getting our food. If they could improve on one thing, this would be it. I didn't mind it too much though. I eventually was served my poutine with sausage (check picture for reference) and promptly went into quality assurance mode to see how I liked it.... and I did!!! The fries were just about right, the cheese curds were squeaky and generously spread out, the gravy had a great texture to it with a little kick to it that I liked as well. The bacon cheddar sausage was tasty and I was glad I had it as well. My only complaint is that the gravy wasn't piping hot at first, so the cheese curds on top didn't exactly melt as they should have. However, the more I dug into my meal the better the poutine became with all that gravy that had seeped down and the cheese curds located below were melted and tasted heavenly. The price tag is reasonable. All in all, I had a good time and liked Moose Bawr. I wouldn't mind visiting again one day.

Im part of the Montreal Beer Runnersand this week this was our "run to" pub. A very cool pub with cool and unique food like kimchi poutine and AMAZING avocado fries. They alsi have small but nice beer selection, free popcorn and if you are a sports fan there are big screen broadcasting different events (well when we were there). They onky downside of this cool pub is the noise level. It is very load and hard to have a normal conversation.

Even those with more casual interest in beer probably know that DDC makes really great drinks. And yep, they were excellent. I wasn't there to do a long session, so I got a couple tasters, one including Peche Mortal and the other a NEIPA. Two very different styles and both extremely well done. Beyond that, the space had a very old-fashioned look. Really nice wooden fixtures and a very warm, welcoming vibe. The server was also attentive and friendly, but also knew when to let people sit back and enjoy their drinks. You probably don't need me to tell you, but yes, you should go.

He expressed interest in hitting up some breweries, so I did some research and compiled a few we could potentially visit. Brasserie Dieu du Ciel was one of them, and it just so happened we were in its vicinity after our Mile End food tour concluded. That being said, we made our way over. While I am not a beer person myself, I'll have a round or two if I'm with a group, and can appreciate a good brewery. My first impression of Dieu du Ciel was just that - the vibes were on walking in. The space is pretty large - kinda separated into semi- compartmentalized spaces with tables throughout. There's not much decor, but medium-toned woods throughout which gave it a sort of upscale feel. They offer a food menu, but we were just here for drinks. They have a really wide selection of beer - again, I'm no connoisseur, but I could tell that the selection was way more than other breweries I've been to. I ended up getting a cider for the first round and a stout for my second round - both very good. Service was great, and overall we enjoyed our time at Dieu du Ciel. Their selection and comfortable setting made it a standout brewery for me out of the ones I've visited in Montreal - I wouldn't hesitate to return.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

Review for their Quartier Dix30 location, 2025…read more.. Horrible ending to our night, false accusations by their staff... My friends and I went to this pub as a portion of our celebrating one of their birthdays this evening. For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.
