    French onion soup
    Nicole C.

We had dinner here late on a Tuesday night after seeing a show at the Place de Arts. After the show, very few places were open to eat, so we were thankful that the kitchen at Nyk's doesn't close until 11pm. This is a bar that also has a small amount of table seating, but the ambiance is clean and nice, not like a dive bar. Our server was great as well. I had the burger and I added blue cheese and pickles to it. They gave me lots of pickles which was great, but the blue cheese was spicy, I think it was blended with horseradish or something. My dad had the French onion soup and the feta with mixed vegetables. To drink I had the L'alveole, which was tasty and similar to a paloma, but could have benefitted from some salt or tajin on the rim.

Great place for some pub food! The duck confit poutine was great, very rich and filling. The lamb sausage was delicious and their fries and salad are great sides; the perfect pub meal. The flambé cheese was a delicious appetizer, with a table side element of the flambé it was super fun. The service was fast even though it was packed. We had to wait a half hour because they don't take reservations, but it was worth the wait! I definitely felt like an old pub once you got inside, but they also had the front of the restaurant completely opened up on a nice day so there was plenty of airflow. Would Return again!

Sorry but we were underwhelmed by NYCS. We stopped in on a Friday and sat at the bar. We were told we'd have to leave in a short while as the bar seats were reserved. That's was new to us. We quickly ordered calamari and drinks. While the beer was good, the wine glass had at most 3 ounces. And when the calamari came, it was flavorful but tough. We bolted never to return.

Great ambience and service! Chardonay and Guinness were exquisite. Such a cozy spot on a cold night.

I was hoping to like this spot more since it is a cozy spot in a bustling area. I liked the posted photos but my burger was mediocre. I appreciate the accompanying greens, but it was my favorite item on the plate. Pleasant waiter, but for the price I expect more flavor. Quarter pound of beef which was on the done side with no pink in sight. Leaving it slightly dry. Will come again since it is convenient location for me, but ptobably more for drinks.

3.5 stars . Located near me I figured I would give this place a shot for dinner. I ordered the tartare of the moment and it was beef. Good enough but lacked a bit of oophm. My boyfriend got the burger with bacon and cheese but the cheese was not melted so it looked overall cold, he said the taste was alright. The fries and side salad were really good in my opinion! So next time I think I'll try the poutine. The service was great and friendly! I recommend reserving in advance because the place is a bit small and it fills up quick!

    Duck confit poutine

Confession. We were in a tight spot and I accidentally broke a few glasses on the way out. However, not a large space and they went out of their way to accommodate our large group of 13. And the service was among the best we've had in Montreal which is quite something given the number of positive experiences we've had. All that said, this was the best meal I had in over a week in town. The duck confit poutine was transcendent, the gravy the richest I have ever had in a poutine and the duck was magnificent. All of my students enjoyed their meal, including a wonderful olive tapenade to open and a decadently rich creme brulee to finish. An amazing meal.

Good service, did not require a wait time when we went for lunch on a Friday. Good spot if you want a beer mid day, as they offered beer throughout the day. The atmosphere is very chill and casual. My group ordered mussels, poutines, and duck confit. There is a large variety of food. The poutine had a slightly sweet flavor almost a kick of cinnamon, which was very interesting. The mussels was a very large plate, and well seasoned and subtle. The fries are crispy. The elk burger is exceptional. Easy 4-5/5

Tucked away with a beautiful terrasse in the back, it's the kind of place you'd almost miss--but absolutely shouldn't. The service was fantastic from start to finish--attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling overbearing. The food was equally impressive. Everything we tried was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, with portions that are just right. The beef and mushroom tartare was a standout--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced--and the braised lamb cavatelli was simply outstanding. The lemon tiramisu for dessert was the best ive ever had. Overall, a fantastic experience. Can't wait to come back!

Working in Montreal for the week and while hunting around for dinner I did my usual Yelp'ing! I…read morediscovered Pub BreWskey near my hotel so I decided to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: The entrance is kinda off the beaten path and the restaurant is located under what looks like some sort of laboratory. Once down the stairs you're greeted by what feels like an underground speakeasy vibes! There's exposed copper ventilation pipes, exposed warm lightbulbs, raw concrete, wood and quite a few places to sit. I sat at the bar on the metal chairs like all pros do! But off to the side is a set of stairs which leads down to the ACTUAL BREWERY where all of the beer is made! I loved that there were windows in which you could look out of to see the giant vats. Really cool. Service: Dany at the bar took excellent care of me and there was nothing more I could've asked of him. He was attentive, fun and made sure I enjoyed my time there. Food/Drinks: First up I started with their Brew Juice, a beer made right in-house. It was their "beer smoothie". It was sweet, filling, thick, sour and crazy flavorful! Tasted nothing like a beer at all. My first appetizer was the Bacon Jerky which is thick-cut bacon in a beer maple glaze, chili seasonings, sesame seeds and green onions. It was mildly sweet, salty, savory, thick, tender and really, really good and not what I was expecting given the name. My 2nd beer was the Double Goose. This one was deliciously sour, gentle, not too sweet at all or harsh. For my entree I went with their special that was written in chalk on the board! I was the Sandwich of Duck & Lamb. The salad on the side was GREAT! Good bitter greens with rich, robust dressing. The chips the sandwich also came with were seasoned well and had an excellent spicy mayo dipping sauce. Sandwich was GREAT as well! Bread was softer than expected. Rich, buttery flavor. The 2 meats were light and worked well together. The sandwich is called "Sandwich Au Lapin De Cannard", but "lapin" translates to rabbit. Warm, cheesy, comforting, filling. Lil' cajun flavor. Caught a bone or 2 while eating it. It happens. Value: It's a brewery that actually serves food and that's always a plus! All prices are in $CAD. My first 12 oz. beer was $8.75. My 2nd one was $9.00. The bacon jerky was $10.00 and the sandwich with salad and chips was $26.00. Extremely reasonable if you ask me. In conclusion, I really enjoyed my time here at Pub BreWskey and I would surely pay this place another visit. Beers rotate all the time so what I had may not even be around by the time you visit. Same goes for the specials on the chalkboard! Thank you for reading and supporting local businesses.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

Review for their Quartier Dix30 location, 2025…read more.. Horrible ending to our night, false accusations by their staff... My friends and I went to this pub as a portion of our celebrating one of their birthdays this evening. For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.

Horrible service. They didn't let 3 of my peers with REAL ID in the club. And when my friend…read moreconfronted them, the next time she came in they told her she was "the bitch with the attitude". Tremendously rude bouncers. Don't recommend.
