So happy to find a burrito bar! You can choose from burritos, tacos, salads, or bowls. They have lots of meat or bean options. Lots of sauce options. The line can be long but it goes by fast.

Every day without fail a queue will snake down Botanic Avenue from the newly refurbished blue pillars of Boojum. But they big question you have to ask is, have the people who spend half their lunch break swaying from side to side, playing with their phones, leaning against walls in the queue actually fallen victims to the 'hype' of Boojum rather than the food? Before last week I would have answered definitively and my answer would have been 'YES'! But last week I had an epiphany, I had my first Boojum Burrito in a few years. I was served up a huge, pipping hot tinfoil grenade that seemed to explode with flavour as soon as the pin was puled and the foil was unwrapped. Here's what I ordered in it's entirety.... Mexican Savoury Burrito, Barbacoa (Shredded Beef), Pinto Beans, Chorizo, Jalapenos, Lettuce, Cheese, Sour Cream and Hot Salsa. Each item in the burrito seemed to compliment eachother perfectly! The burrito was filling and really well put together! A decent four stars!

The first Boojum that I knew was on Botanic Avenue and I thought that it had closed, which would be disappointing, if true. Not to worry - they had merely outgrown their original premises and reopened on a bigger floor just a few doors to the north. I opted for chilli nachos on my first visit to the bigger Botanic Boojum and they were as good as ever.

This is a lovely little spot if you fancy something slightly different to eat. It's totally dependable, in that there are a finite number of combinations on offer for your burrito. It's organised in the same way a Subway is: you place your order and it gets passed down the assembly line until it reaches the till. Very efficient! As for the food itself, I like it. And I have a few friends who are totally in love with it. I find it quite filling though. there's a wild amount of food contained in one wrap! Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. It's reasonably priced, with a chicken burrito setting you back only £4.25, so it's pretty good value for money when you consider what you get for it. There's always a nice atmosphere here. The staff are always helpful, ready to advise a total noob on the ins and outs of Mexican burritos and they have a loyalty card, so the more you buy, the more you save. Oh, and it's also licensed, so you can have a beer or a margarita with your meal! What more do you want?

Everyone in Northern Ireland loves Boojum, no seriously, even Jamie Dornan, he has a coveted Boojum Addict Teeshirt! It's one of those places that never gets it wrong every time you are served here, I've been going here since my student days but being a newly fledged meat eater in the past year my love for it has grown. Their burritos are perfect, never too spicy, you can always add one of their delicious sauces if you need a bit of fire and the meats are always tender and succulent. In my most recent trip I went for a rice box. Mexican rice, chorizo, mixed peppers and onions, cheese and a mixture of their hot and mild salsa, delicious. When the students are in residence the queues tend to be down the street but they move quickly. Service is friendly and if you want a cheap pre night out tipple and bit to eat this is perfect as they are licensed to serve beers and margaritas. Food Options are limited to, burritos, rice boxes, salad boxes, nachos. But it's all absolute quality. They had a little glitch a couple of years back when they changed their recipe for their Mexican rice, people were up in arms... Some people couldn't even look at it. But they fixed it and it's back to being delicious again. They're expanding this particular branch with a new location a few doors up, it can only get bigger and better!

Always a queue..but it moves fast

It feels like Boojum has had a constant queue since it opened all those years ago, and as I've frequented it plenty this is obviously not a problem. In fact a bit of a queue is a good thing. It gives you time to make up your mind as to what you want, change your mind, decide again and then add to it at the last minute. I usually go for the corn tacos, think I'm going to be healthy and then find myself asking for more cheese, more cream, more guilt and regret at the end! The food itself is fresh and reasonably tasty, perhaps not quite as spicy as I'd like, but that is personal preference. Also, as this place is so busy you don't need to fear the stuff has been lying on the counter all day- it hasn't. There is some seating up the back, a little dark and basic, but if the weather is good take it out and head up to Botanic Gardens- you won't be the only one...

Boojum has restored my hope in good burritos in the UK without going to London for Chipotle. I was sitting at Starbucks with a good friend, having a deep and important conversation. All the while, I watched the queue at Boojum get longer and longer out the door. This is usually a pretty good sign... either that there's good food or simply that you're in the UK. I finally deduced that it meant that there was good food. I came back an hour later to experience a shorter queue (after 1pm) as well as a really good burrito. I had a chicken burrito with black beans and their lime and basil rice. So good. I was sad when it ended, but really full. Thank you Boojum!

Boojum is a Mexican restaurant, situated on the Botanic Road in the South of the City. This is one of my favourite places to eat in Belfast. Mexican food places are few and far between in this city and Boojum has jumped into this little gap nicely. Boojum serves burritos, fajitas and tacos in what could only be described as an assembly line. I really enjoy this, being able to look at the variety of ingredients that can go into your burrito give you the constant opportunity to vary your choice each time you enter. Sadly, this is not what usually happens. People are almost tribal in their choice of burrito when it comes to Boojum and I'm no different. I eat here quite a lot and can say that I get the exact same thing 99% of the time. It just tastes so good that I don't mind! There is limited seating for those who wish to sit in. Sitting in comes with the advantage of being able to order a beer with your meal. The frozen margarita's make provide great comfort when you've picked the extra hot salsa rojo by mistake even though their claims of it 'containing tequila' are questioned by a few grumbling souls munching on their tacos.

Botanic Avenue has everything and anything by the way of places to eat. You have your coffee shops, places for a romantic dinner, places for a Sub, any number of newsagents. This place is a little mexican gem in the middle of the student quarter. I am a bit of a fajita expert from all of my fajita making at college, so to discover a place that makes fajitas as good as me (some would say better) is terrific. The staff are very knowledgeable and the whole place seems chilled out. No one is in a rush and it is the only food place that I've seen people queueing out the door and down the street at lunch time. It's like a Subway in a sombrero.

Really, really top notch stuff from this Mexican restaurant on Botanic Avenue, right in the heart of Belfast's busy student district. The staff are young and laid back and always there to explain what is going on and to explain all your options to you if you are new to mexican food and are there with a smile and some banter if you are a bit of a regular. The food is excellent quality and brilliantly filling. There is plenty of choice for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The price is excellent too. You will be absolutely stuffed full of food for about a fiver and there aren't too many places in Belfast that you can say that about.

mmmm fajitas, burritos and Taco's! It really doesn't get any better than mexican and especially a good mexican where they really know their stuff! I love Boojum and at around £5 for a meal you will struggle to finish it's really a great spot hidden in the heart of student land! They have a cool 3 step menu where you choose your base (burrito), your filling (shredded beef) and your salsa (roja!) The end result is delish! This place is epic for lunch and the restaurant is rally cool, fresh and airy. The staff are great and the food is fab, huge and cheap! Nom, nom nom....

    boom boom

Boojum should be on everyones top 5 for fast food. Not only is it unquestionably healthier than other fast food options it is also cheap which is a good combination. I have been here one lunch time and the queue was right out the door. It is definitely a very popular hotspot and the only mexican fast foot joint in our wee city. The burritos are hard to beat but you can also get a fajita as-well, choose from chicken, beef or vegetarian with some salad. So there is not an enormous amount of choice. In this case its definitely better to do few things well than a lot of things poorly. It is just so good and you get the feeling that not only is your body thanking you but so is your bank balance. Not a bad way to spend a lunch hour!!!

Tacos are soft by default, which I think makes good sense in terms of trying to hold them together when eating them. I'm happy enough about the food but after having to wait for weeks turning to months for this place to open, they could have given more consideration to the people-flow aspects of design and layout. If the place is busy, the queue obstructs the flow of people from counter to seating. Then anybody sitting by the window has to cut through the queue to access the waste bins. Surely there are better ways of doing this. The counter could have been operated in the opposite direction with the queue directed anticlockwise around the wall by a balustrade. Then anybody leaving the counter could access all seating areas and bins without crossing the queue or squeezing past it.
