My only criticism is that it's an inconvenience to have to go to the counter to collect and pay for your bill - especially awkward when with a group and you have to stand about trying to work out what everyone owes. As La Taqueria are a table service restaurant it would be much easier if a bill could be left to a table first to be looked at before payment. Not quite sure why they don't do this. I walked up the dark stairs to be greeted by one of the most friendly waitresses you are ever likely to meet. She sat me at a table of four even though I was on my own which made me feel less of a loser. I sat down and browsed the menu made up of various burgers. I was going to go for the double cheese burger when the waitress came over and showed me their offer. A double cheese burger, fries and a drink for £8! Unreal! The decor is dive style! Think graffiti! They have an alcohol licence too so if you fancy a beer and burger knock yourself out! Easy five stars, for service alone. The burgers are quite dry, they're extremely messy, which isn't a great thing if you're trying not to spill it all over yourself, the redeemer is the crack sauce which is pretty great. The fries are strange, they're the same quality as you would get from a good chip shop, but I don't think they goes very well with the whole American restaurant aesthetic they're going for. Really, if you're wanting to support local, eat here. If you're wanting to have something a bit more put together but for the exact same price, go eat at Five Guys.

Magnificent moments are made of this = Margaritas, Mexican food, great service, magical atmosphere and a chilled vibe. We indulged in a menu of authentic, delicious food. I've been to Mexico twice and can vouch for the fact that La Taqueria really do sell fresh, truly authentic Mexican fare. I loved the guacamole with tortilla chip starter, oyster mushrooms with green chilli quesadilla main and side of crispy potato cubes, sour cream and herbs. Cocktails were fantastic, nothing like I've ever tasted before. Pure, unique flavour combinations which worked together superbly. The wine list boasts Spanish, Chilean and Argentinian wines and the Spanish wine was luscious. La Taqueria is a wonderful addition to the Belfast restaurant scene and offers great Mexican flavours which cannot be found elsewhere in Northern Ireland. It's super to see clearly marked vegetarian dishes on the menu and some vegan options too. Everyone in my party loved La Taqueria and I've already booked a return visit.

They also have call buttons on each table allowing you to summons your waiter/waitress of you need them. The food is always good, with the breakfasts being pretty amazing. The menu is a little large so there is plenty to choose from. Prices are very reasonable and a kids menu is available too.

Another competitor in the Mexican fast food market in Belfast, with more or less the usual range of…read moreformats (burrito, fajita, burrito bowl, taco) and choice of beef, pork, chicken or peppers as filling. Tacos are soft by default, which I think makes good sense in terms of trying to hold them together when eating them. I'm happy enough about the food but after having to wait for weeks turning to months for this place to open, they could have given more consideration to the people-flow aspects of design and layout. If the place is busy, the queue obstructs the flow of people from counter to seating. Then anybody sitting by the window has to cut through the queue to access the waste bins. Surely there are better ways of doing this. The counter could have been operated in the opposite direction with the queue directed anticlockwise around the wall by a balustrade. Then anybody leaving the counter could access all seating areas and bins without crossing the queue or squeezing past it.
